Newsletter ** 63 Seconds ** Newsletter

What is 63 Seconds? Apart from being a great time for the 400 metres, it is the name of our new Brighton Little Athletics Newsletter and it will only take about 63 seconds for you to read it!  You will be emailed a link periodically during the season and the newsletter will contain all the important details that you need to know.  We hope you find it helpful....

First up, a reminder that our start is at 8:45am for Warm-Ups.  Please make sure you arrive in time for this important part of the program.  Starting on time also helps us finish on time, unlike last Saturday.  It also helps our pack up crew to get away at a reasonable hour.

Centre Records  One so far - Cameron Menzies U13 Boys Discus - 36.74m - well done!

Parent Duty  A number of parents have asked where they can find information that will help them when officiating on Saturdays.  The Brighton Handbook (pp. 20-23 or our Rules page) and the How to Help at Little Athletics booklet (also given to new athletes at registration) contain all the basics to assist parents.  We recommend you do the quiz at the end of the booklet, return it to your Club President and we will have it checked.  This knowledge can also help you assist your athletes if they have questions or difficulties.

Region Relay Championships (for U9s-U15s) are at Caulfield on Sunday 18 November (click for details) and the Mentone Relay Day (Sunday 28 October) is a great warm up for Region Relays.  If you would like to enter, please contact our Team Manager Debbie McCann by email this week or speak to Debbie on Saturday - entries close this weekend (20/10/2007).

Relay Coaching will commence next Tuesday (23/10) from 6-7pm and on Saturday mornings from 27/10, 8am warm-up for 8.15am start.

Open Days  These are a great chance to compete against athletes from other centres.  Caulfield is having an Open Day on Sunday 4 November, the Caulfield entry form and other open day entry forms are available from our Season Calendar page and the VLAA Yearly Planner page.

General Coaching  As most will know, we have coaching for all athletes through the season.  Track and Throws coaching will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7pm;  Jumps coaching will be on Saturdays from 8.15am to start up.  Starting dates will be announced shortly.  Remember, this assistance is aimed at helping all athletes to improve, reach their best and increase their enjoyment.

Region Coaching Camp is at Merricks on 23-25 November.  This is for all athletes and is a great weekend.  Click for details and registration form .

Royal Children's Hospital Appeal  Little Athletics has for many years contributed to the appeal through events at Centres.  On 10 November, we will be asking all adults and athletes to run a lap before we start our program and contribute a gold coin donation to this great appeal.

Lost Property We regularly have a large amount of clothing left behind on competition days.  Please check to see if any belongs to your children.  Most does not have initials or name, so we can't identify who they belong to.  After a sufficient time elapses, unclaimed clothing will be forwarded to charity.

Thanks for your attention!  We hope you like
