About The ABI Network
What is the Barwon South West Regional ABI Interest Network?
The ABI interest network allows workers with an interest in acquired brain injury to meet, share ideas, plan training and consider local issues. The network consists of three groups in the Barwon South West Region (Victoria, Australia) - based in Geelong, Colac and Warrnambool. These groups meet on a regular basis and are a useful resource for training and information about local services and statewide ABI groups.
For details of the next interest group meeting or to be added to the mailing
list please contact your local coordinator.
What is Acquired Brain Injury?

It can occur for a variety of reasons including: trauma (e.g. from a fall, car accident or assault), stroke, infection (e.g. encephalitis), tumour, degenerative neurological disease, lack of oxygen (e.g. cardiac arrest, near drowning) or alcohol or drug misuse.
What are the effects of an Acquired Brain Injury?
The effects of brain injury can vary from minor temporary changes to severe, long term changes and can impact upon many areas of personal and family life. Many people with brain injury require ongoing support or care to manage their daily lives.
