Dons lose in Adelaide

The first game for the year has come and gone, and Essendon will have to wait until next week to chalk up its first win. The Bombers were soundly defeated in Adelaide, but the scoreboard can be deceptive in practice matches as coach Kevin Sheedy tries players in new and different positions, and gives the rookie players a chance to prove themselves. So one mustn't look too deeply into the final margin at this stage of the year. Here are the match details:
