Sean Denham came to the Dons from Geelong in 1992, as part of a swap that saw John Barnes go to Geelong. This is one deal in football that worked out well for both clubs - Barnes is now a top ruckman for Geelong (he was at Essendon at the time when we didn't need another ruckman as we had Simon Madden, Paul Salmon etc.), and Denham has been a key possession winner for Essendon. He plays mainly as a rover, picking up kicks in the packs and from the ruckmen, and then setting up attacking moves for the Dons. He was one of the few players to play every game for the Dons in 1995, and polled well again in the Best and Fairest (he was runner-up to Jimmy Hird in 1994).
