David Calthorpe came on the scene at the end of 1992, and then didn't play again until the middle of 1993, our premiership year. He was one of the "local" boys who really made 1993 a year to remember. After a few disappointing years in the reserves, David developed into an important on-ball player. The highlight of his career so far (apart from the '93 flag) would be winning the E J Whitten medal for best Victorian in his first ever State of Origin game last year. He played a brilliant game, and fully deserved the medal. He has recently had some trouble with form, but always shows great determination when he's given the chance in the seniors.
