Gary Moorcroft had a big year in 1994, winning the Morrish Medal for best player in the U18s competition, and that's no mean feat considering the talent playing in the U18s. Essendon picked him up as a gutsy player who has really got some fire in his game. He played one game this year, against St Kilda, and has been regularly named in the best players for the reserves. After gaining some experience he will probably be one of Essendon's strongest rover-type players, and we need those sorts of players if we are going to win the hard games.
