"Smokin" Joe Misiti came onto the scene at the end of 1992, then in 1993 played every game for the year except the Qualifying Final where a number of players missed with injury. His prolific possession winning abilities saw him as one of the best centremen in the league in our 1993 premiership year. He lead the possession winning tables for most of the year, with the likes of Greg Williams. After such a good year in 1993, he was disappointing in 1994, playing a few games in the reserves to try to regain form. It seems he was one of the players at Essendon who partied too hard after the '93 flag. This year has seen Joe increase his workload and really put the effort into regaining the lost form - and it has worked. This year he is once again up there with the top possession winners at Essendon, and such use of the ball has allowed the Dons to play much better football this year. He won the under 19 Best and Fairest in 1990, and the reserves Best and Fairest in 1992, so perhaps at some stage in the future he can cap it all off with the seniors Best and Fairest. Achievements: Under 19 best and fairest 1990, Essendon premiership side 1993, Essendon night premiership sides 1993,94.
