David Calthorpe came on the scene at the end of 1992, and then didn't play again until the middle of 1993, our premiership year. He was one of the "local" boys who really made 1993 a year to remember. After a few disappointing years in the reserves, David is now one of the most important on-ball players we've got. The highlight of his career so far (apart from the '93 flag) would be winning the E J Whitten medal for best Victorian in his first ever State of Origin game last year. He played a brilliant game, and fully deserved the medal. After being suspended early on (it seems he may have a bit of a temper, but as long as it's used to fire up the team and win games, we don't mind that at all), he hit his best form late in the year, so perhaps 1996 could be David's year.

Achievements: 1994 EJ Whitten medal, Essendon premierships side 1993, Essendon night premiership side 1994.
