Onsite Activities

NIGHT WALKS
An evening walk along one of the various tracks and trails at Brucknell may reveal possums, koalas, wallabies, echidnas or even some of the night birds. Alternatively, the Beckett's Creek trail and the Jungle trail are other types of walks on the camp property. Ask Sheryl or Bob for details.

BUSH DANCE / DISCO
Outdoor or Indoor - The campfire circle or the playing field are ideal outdoor venues for a bush dance, karaoke or disco, whereas the Training Centre Hall is an ideal indoor venue. Music to make this night both enjoyable and memorable can be provided.

BIRD OBSERVING
The Park's natural surroundings and creek trail hosts a wide array of bird life. A species list is available upon request. There is also a listing of the birds and butterflies found at Brucknell Park on this website.

FREE TIME GAMES
These include: Trampolining (under adult supervision), Table Tennis, Quoits, Hookey, Large oval, Darts, Wide Games, Bush Croquet, Bush Mini Golf.

SCAVENGER HUNT
This list of novel items to find around camp is an ideal evening activity. OR by simply secreting several items along Wattle Drive and asking participants to try and find them all and memorise them you have created a great observation activity. A master copy will be provided to your group on request. These activities take approx one hour.

COMPASS / ORIENTEERING COURSE
There are currently two Compass courses which take approx one hour to travel. These are mainly used by Years 2 – 6, but can be used for the older students as well. Plans are underway to incorporate an orienteering course at the Park as well.

INITIATIVE COURSE ACTIVITIES
The local Rotary Club combined with the South Western District Scouts to construct an Initiative Course at Brucknell Park. There are eight activity stations for the participants to complete. This activity is aimed for those aged from 12 years on to adults. This is invaluable for team building and leadership programs. In addition to the Initiative Course, there is a large playing field at the Park, ideal for playing a large range of initiative "life be in it" team building games. These activities can be run as part of your program. Ask for details.

SCREEN PRINTING
Brucknell Park has a choice of two motifs you can print. Bring your own shirt or pillow case and we will supply the ink and screens. Small cost involved.

CAMP CONCERT
This is an old favourite evening activity, and Brucknell has a separate hall, also with an open fire, for a really cosy camp concert, or it can be conducted outdoors at the Camp fire circle.

JUNGLE ANIMALS – at the CUB JUNGLE
There are eight character statues from The Jungle Book, by Rudyard Kipling, in the Cub Jungle area of the Park. Explore the book as you find the main characters “living” in the Jungle.

CAMP FIRE
The large Camp Fire Circle is a popular venue where the participants can yell, sing or act out their favourite songs or plays. This activity can be organised for your group, if desired, by our staff.

CAMP BUSH COOKING
Various meals, snacks, or part thereof, can be cooked by the students over or in the open fires. These usually are most popular as they can warm by the fire as they cook, and the socialising of the event is a most satisfactory session for all concerned.
