President

Chris James is the eighth President of the Rotary Club of Boroondara.

Chris is Senior Manager - Public Affairs at the Victorian Employers' Chamber Of Commerce and Industry (VECCI), Victoria’s key employer group, where he specialises in media, government and corporate relations and deals with issues as diverse as transport policy, employment issues and corporate social responsibility.

Before joining VECCI in 2000, Chris worked as an economist with the Victorian Farmers Federation, following periods in local government and State and Federal politics, where he worked as a political adviser.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from Monash University and a Certificate in Local Government Management from Deakin University.

Chris’s interests are broad and varied and extend from current affairs to horse racing to the AFL, where he supports Richmond.

Chris is keen to continue the clubs involvement in international projects including a project involving water filtration and local community involvement, particularly through hands-on projects, such as assisting with Camp Getaway and supporting environmental projects, such as Friends of Back Creek and is also keen to further the clubs involvement in Interact.

The Club is also committed to sponsoring students to attend Rotary RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards), RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program for Enrichment) and the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar programs.
