Chris James is the eighth President of the Rotary Club
of Boroondara.
Chris is Senior Manager -
Public Affairs at the Victorian Employers' Chamber Of Commerce and Industry
(VECCI), Victoria’s
key employer group, where he specialises in media, government and corporate
relations and deals with issues as diverse as transport policy, employment
issues and corporate social responsibility.
Before joining VECCI in 2000,
Chris worked as an economist with the Victorian Farmers Federation,
following periods in local government and State and Federal politics, where
he worked as a political adviser.
Chris holds a Bachelor of
Economics (Honours) from Monash University and a Certificate in Local Government
Management from Deakin
University.
Chris’s interests are
broad and varied and extend from current affairs to horse racing to the
AFL, where he supports Richmond.
Chris is keen to continue the clubs involvement in
international projects including a project involving water filtration and
local community involvement, particularly through hands-on projects, such
as assisting with Camp
Getaway and
supporting environmental projects, such as Friends of Back Creek and is
also keen to further the clubs involvement in Interact.
The Club is also committed to sponsoring students to
attend Rotary RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards), RYPEN (Rotary Youth
Program for Enrichment) and the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar programs.
