ABOUT US
WHO ARE WE?
Bonzer! was launched in July 2001 by Alan Wheatley, the Foundation Editor, assisted at that time
by Bruce Seaman, Webmaster, and Christina Ratcliffe, Copy Editor, all of whom live in Melbourne, Australia.
The launch was informal and no one quite knew where Bonzer! was heading.
Bonzer! was intended from the start to be a free, monthly online journal by, for, and
about seniors. It was neither government funded nor had commercial backing, and at the beginning it was sited
courtesy of Alan's I.S.P., Optus. Later, it became established on a site provided by the State Library of
Victoria and the Community Development Fund.
Bonzer! is run by volunteer editors, writers and staff. It is still free and still appears
on the first day of every month.

WHO READS BONZER! AND WHY?
Bonzer! aims to inform, stimulate, empower and entertain. Its readers are lively, cosmopolitan, concerned,
involved, interested in a variety of issues and subjects. Published in Australia. we have readers and writers
all over the world, including Canada, France, Holland, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, USA and
Mexico. No-one is paid for working for Bonzer! And there is no subscription fee. This means that we have no
money to pay writers.
By the way, the title Bonzer! is an Australian slang word, meaning excellent.
