Blackburn Lake Sanctuary is one of the few remaining areas of natural bushland
in Melbourne. It is the best known bushland park in the City of Whitehorse.
Blackburn Lake Sanctuary with high quality indigenous bushland, lake, extensive
walking tracks and Visitors Centre is a living
reference of the natural and cultural history of the district.
It is an important environmental asset for Whitehorse residents and the wider
Melbourne metropolitan area.

The Sanctuary is owned by the City of Whitehorse
which has appointed an Advisory Committee of interested local resident volunteers
to assist in the enhancement, maintenance and promotion of, particularly the
environmental & ecological values of the Sanctuary.
This is achieved by volunteers through regular working bees, Newsletter, education
programs, preparation and presentation of displays and talks at the Visitor
Centre.
The Visitor Centre is open 2pm to 4pm Sunday afternoons (volunteers willing).
Location: Central Road Blackburn. Map reference.
