At the Regent Hotel
The Synchronicity M.C.
Was urging the audience to try their luck
With their "Master Charles" raffle.
The winner would get to meet with Master Charles
In a one-on-one so-called "Spectrum" session
Lasting thirty long minutes.
"We'll see who's the most focussed," she quipped
"Because that's who the winner will be."

This was not new to me
As I'd heard the same turn of phrase used
At other Synchronicity functions as well.

What is not clear, though,
Is when "focussing" is expected to be of assistance -
When deciding when to buy the ticket?
When buying the ticket?
When the draw is taking place?
Or all the time, non-stop?

I doubt if it makes much difference, though.
A few nights later
I was once more in the audience
Watching Master Charles
Playfully jugglingly joyously
Shuffling and mixing
The box of Spectrum session raffle tickets
In a way
That made it very obvious
The outcome of the raffle
Was entirely and blissfully
Spontaneously and randomly
Appropriate.

And I rather hope
He was enjoying the possibility
Of mad ego-driven minds
Caught fast in their cocoons of separateness
Focussing intently
As he made
His selection.
