Remembering (by Helen Durling)

I am not going anywhere
and there is nothing to be done.
I am here.

Here as I sit
within the reflective depths of myself
Here with the consciousness of the sky,
       that seamless passes unperturbed
         between laughter and sadness

Here in the universal energy that knows no limit
Here with the speaking of the trees,
      their unspoken words
        contained within the breeze
Here with the richness of earth
          and the vibrance of fire

Here in the depths of the sea
and the distant witness of stars
Here in the radiant sun and the luminous moon
Here in the dance of the gods
         and the ringing of bells
Certainly I am here
             when wild animals approach
               like old friends

When I remember to sit within
And claim myself this moment.
