It was a Sunday morning.
I had been busying myself
With what I understood to be spiritual healing.
Spirits would put me in touch
With interrupted energies
And I would act them out.
Then I was connected
With a sensation of discouragement.
"It's your friend in Thornbury
(let's call him "Basil").
He's pretty low."
I was happy to act out the depressed feeling
Which was suddenly replaced by joy.
"You've fixed him" said the voice.
I was not convinced.
Give me those cold hard facts.
Give me those ringing telephones.
It was half past eight in the morning
And Basil was a later riser.
I could phone now.
I could phone later.
I picked up the phone.
Yes, Basil was a bit low.
I offered to travel over and visit.
The offer was accepted.
I arrived at Basil's flat.
To find he was not alone.
His friend - let us call the friend Antonio -
Greeted me with
"As you came in I felt a wave of peace"
Which surprised me a little.
If I have an aura of peace
I'm not aware of it.
Antonio said he suddenly felt tired
And I mentioned that a sudden feeling
Could be caused by a spirit in that state
Coming near one.
Almost at once
The tiredness left him
And descended on me.
I acted out the tiredness.
Another friend - let us call him Francis - arrived.
He was of a more sceptical turn of mind
And dominated the conversation
While Basil lay sprawled on the sofa
Complaining that he had too many guests,
Keeping to himself.
Every now and then
When the conversation lulled
I would go over to Basil and touch him on the hand.
There was discouragement energy there.
I would get a sense of taking some discouragment from him
And would act it out.
At once point a discouraged spirit taken off
Announced it was his father
Who had suicided many years before.
After a few of his hallucinations had been ressolved
He confided that he was trying to cheer Basil up
And had thought that he had!
Gradually a picture began to emerge
Of a whole group of spirits
All trying to cheer Basil up
perhaps thinking they were succeeding
While Basil lay dejected on the sofa.
It was worth a try.
I addressed the spirits out loud,
Told them that they weren't helping,
Could they try leaving him alone,
Perhaps he'd be better alone.
Five minutes later
It was time to leave
And I was was pleased to see
Basil's mood suddenly brighten
In the last few minutes
That I was there.
Ever had a spirit say someone is sick (AND FIND OUT THEY WERE!) ?

Or spirits
