Meditation over
I watch the Channel 2 evening news
About ten minutes into the bulletin
A local story grabs my attention:
A gunman holed up
In the office of a legal firm
In Mitcham
One of Melbourne's more eastern suburbs
At last!
An issue capable of affording some feedback
As to my spiritual ability (real or imagined)
To influence events
At a distance!
I erase the previous "Steady as she goes"
From my white board
And inscribe something along the lines of
"Should the Mitcham gunman be irrational
To bring him to a more rational state."
A sense of the sort of spiritual support
That might bring success,
Of being in communion with the street,
The Maroondah Highway
(imagine a series of angels representing
the different streets)
A sense of getting in touch with some insanity,
Of acting it out.
Of the the street returning, and predicting
That come 8pm
The radio stations would be describing the siege
(The street outside the legal firm
was cordoned off)
In the past tense.
Come 8pm
The man is still occupying the building.
My own street, Kerferd Road,
Advises that the postcode angel
For Mitcham 3122
May be affecting the ability
To connect with the insane energies.
The postcode angel appears
And some abnormalities are apparently fixed.
Kerferd Road goes to the scene,
Requests that I chant a sanity mantra
To help reveal possible insanity.
Connects me with insane energies.
I act them out.
It appears that mission is accomplished.
"Watch the Channel 2 news update
At 8.28."
8.28 arrives.
The gunman is still holed up.
At 8.38, I have a vision
Of Colonel Barnston, as portrayed
In the movie "Sense and Sensibility"
He says he has dropped in from another reality,
And has dealt with the situation.
Rather chuffed, he advises:
"Wait till nine o'clock, then celebrate."
Nine o'clock.
Still no change.
A vision of Jana Wendt,
A well-known Australian current affairs presenter.
She too has travelled from another reality
And accepts the challenge
Of dealing with the situation.
Soon she returns,
"Watch the Channel 2 update."
I miss the Channel 2 update
But catch an update on Channel 9:
The gunman is still there
He plans a long stay.
A sense of communion
And I'm not sure with who.
We search for something we've overlooked.
Ah-ha!
The block!
The angel in charge of the area
Bounded by the streets in the which
The drama is occurring.
The block angel appears
Shortly after 9.45
Some abnormalities are corrected
As to 1) ability to sense moods of auras
------2) ability to sense mood by touch
------3) ability to read minds
A vision of Jennifer Kyte
A local TV news presenter
Another visitor from another reality
A sense of her leaving
And hardly a moment later
I find myself heaving a huge sigh of relief
While thoughts in my mind
Suggest excitedly
That it is over
10 o'clock.
The news comes on.
And, sure enough,
About ten minutes before
The Special Operations Group
Had stormed the building
And captured the gunman
Not quite how I had thought
It would turn out
And leaving me unsure
Of any possible connection
With the event.
Do you ever feel a link with events at a distance?

Would I have been encouraged to do what I attempted to do
