Meetings and News

The Society holds monthly meetings from February to December each year.
At each meeting an invited speaker provides a presentation on an aspect of local or general history for the interest of members.

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month
at the Strabane Hall, 29 Strabane Avenue, Box Hill North
from 8.00pm - 10pm.

Visitors are always most welcome to attend.

Thursday 18 June	Meeting - Guest speaker: John Farmer - 3WBC Radio 94.1 FM. John Farmer, Station Manager of 3WBC, will speak on the history and operation of Whitehorse-Boroondara Community Radio which broadcasts from its sudios in the Box Hill Town Hall Hub. Visitors welcome
Thursday 16 July	Meeting - Guest speaker: Keith de Kretser - Box Hill Rugby Union Football Club. Keith de Kretser, President of the Box Hill Rugby Union Football Club, will speak on the story of the Club, the 'Home of the Mighty Broncos', which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Visitors welcome
Thursday 20 August	Annual General Meeting - Guest speaker: Brian Evans - Box Hill Jewellers. Watchmaker, Brian Evans, will speak on the business he conducted in Box Hill for over 30 years. Visitors welcome
10 to 19 September	Whitehorse Heritage Week
Thursday 17 September	Meeting - Guest speaker: Samantha Westbrook - 1950s housing and post-war development. Whitehorse Heritage Adviser, Samantha Westbrooke, will give an overview of the post-war housing development and the growth of the suburbs. Visitors welcome
Thursday 15 October	Meeting - Guest speaker: Joan Hunt - RHSV - 100 years. Joan, past Vice-President of the RHSV and former Convenor of the History Victoria Support Group, will present a talk on the Royal Historical Society of Victoria which was established in 1909. Visitors welcome
Sunday 18 October	City of Whitehorse Spring Festival
Thursday 19 November	Meeting - - Members' Night. Visitors welcome
