Meetings and News

The Society holds monthly meetings from February to December each year.
At each meeting an invited speaker provides a presentation on an aspect of local or general history for the interest of members.

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month
at the Strabane Hall, 29 Strabane Avenue, Box Hill North
from 8.00pm - 10pm.

Visitors are always most welcome to attend.

Meeting - Guest speaker: Russ Haines - Fraternal Organisations. Russ Haines, President of Ringwood Historical Society, has researched the history of Masonic and other Orders such as Oddfellows/IOOF, Rechabites and the Orange Order. He will give a presentation on these organisations, including those in the Box Hill area.

18 March
Meeting - Guest speaker: Keith La Galle - Growing up in Blackburn. Keith has been a resident of Blackburn for 70 years. Following his father’s profession he has operated his clock-making business, also in Blackburn, since 1961. Keith will give a talk on his memories of Blackburn and Box Hill over the decades.
