They are people to be cherished, respected, thanked and never abused. Club Facilities; The nature of the sport means that our equipment is very costly and fragile and must be treated as such. Always make sure you have adequate help when lifting the boats and make sure the way is clear BEFORE you move a boat. Lifting boats must always be coordinated by 1 person, pref. the stroke or cox’n. You will be expected to help in the maintenance of the club equipment through Club working bees that are run throughout the year . All parts of the Club rooms incl. Kitchen, gym, changing rooms, boat shed and surrounds are communal facilities ( administered by the Club ) and should be looked after by ALL users. Gymnasium; the equipment in the gym is expensive and can be dangerous if used incorrectly. NO equipment is to be used unless appropriate instruction has been given by one of the Coaches ( not other Junior members ) Currently there is no available phone at the Club , the closest public phone is opposite the Tysons Reef Hotel. Rowing attire; The recommended rowing gear is a Zoot suit or T shirt and bike shorts. ( no loose clothing ) In cooler weather it is preferable to wear many thin layers rather than 2 thick ones It is expected that junior rowers will wear the appropriate clothing at all times . It is unacceptable to jump into a boat wearing your school clothes. The Rowing Club abides by all schools Sun Smart policy and therefore expects the use of all protective measures. Sunscreen is usually available if you forget your OWN. Behaviour; It is expected that all rowers will respect the rights of all and act in a manner conducive to harmony on and off the lake Parent Support There will be a lot of pressure on rowers to make a commitment to the members of their crew and coach in terms of attendance . No crew can row if only 3 out of 4 turn up. It follows that all rowers must have the total support of their parents/guardians for training sessions and regattas. |
