In the coming months there could well be some new jobs for members. They will include, but not be limited to, the conversion to a digital form of information unique to this area. This will be made available to members on the internet.
Wherever there is a document that has a list of names or contains names of people from the region that historians and family researchers find irresistible the plan is to make it available.
We have already got some information on our website, namely the Rate Book index, but extra information such as that contained in cemetery records, births deaths and marriage records, our book index [the more than 4000 have nearly all be transcribed to a spreadsheet by Barbara Hamilton], Benalla and district groups with honour boards and other lists of members, and a list of our completed projects will all be digitised.
We have already seen that there are many people around the world searching our website and even clicking on our application for membership form - we want these people to become members.
In the future members will be able to access all their Roses and Thorns newsletter and the intermediate 'Update' on this website. It is all set to go.
