What happens at a cub or scout meeting?

It's not a secret!

On a typical evening we start with a sort of parade called Grand Howl, a "meeting of the wolf cubs". We raise the Australian flag.

Then we might play a few games eg. chair soccer, touch rugby, relays, poison ball, aboriginal games, etc.
Perhaps a craft activity follows - we made crocodile heads for the disco with cartons, ping pong balls & spray paint. We often try a new skill eg model-making or ropework.
We share a bit of news, achievements, etc, and play a bit more.
We might try a silly song or two (did you know The Court of King Caractacus is a scout song?)

We finish with another small ceremony. If anyone has earned a badge, or is joining the cubs, we celebrate this. The cubs strike the flag & one cub makes up a short prayer.

One week we might be checking & trialling our billycarts. Another week might involve a campfire or an outing. You'll have to come along & see for yourself...

Scouts are very similar; the Grand Howl is called a parade, then games & activities.

The main difference is, scouts are expected to do much more for themselves. Events & activity ideas come from the members, who then organise it more independently.
