There are many thousands more and this project will continue to record and remember those Cornish born and their families who played an important role in making Bendigo the great and prosperous city it is today.

When old Bendigonians meet they often speak with regret of the balmy days of the field, the days when hundreds of mines were producing hundreds of thousands of pounds' worth of gold each year. Stories are told of the men who spent their lives underground, and 90 per cent. of these tales relate to the Cornish miners.
