WARBY RANGES
SHEET TRACK & PINE GULLY
August 9
Twelve walkers set off up Skeet Track to Adams Road and then descended the plateau along Pine Gully creek via two dry waterfalls and their associated gorges. The weather was good and conducive for walking. Doug won the prize for the first to spot an orchid, a Greenhood (Species?). Laurice saw a flock of about twenty Turquoise Parrots at the start of Skeet track as she and Doug waited for the Benalla group to arrive. At the first waterfall we sat in silence to listen to the bush and to contemplate the natural beauty of our surroundings. Then we continued on down the creek and up to the Pine Gully picnic area for lunch. After lunch we walked the Pine Gully circuit stopping at most of the interpretive signs to tell jokes. Oh! they were good. We descended Pine Gully Falls and followed the creek back to the cars and a delightful afternoon tea. Thank you Laurice and Bev. On the way down the creek we saw a Wedge Tailed Eagle and it's nest. It was a lovely walk full of chatter, laughter, gentle banter and fun. Susie, it was good to walk with you again. Doug, you looked truly regal seated on a natural granite throne, and your words,” My subjects, follow me" were obeyed with alacrity. Thank you all for making it a great day out in the Warbies.
