Junior swimmers awarded Scholarships via funds raised from the Queenscliff Blue Water Challenge and the event’s generous sponsors.

With funds raised from last year’s event we have thus far awarded two Scholarships to junior swimmers who live on the Bellarine Peninsula, namely Daniel Bell and Thomas Brown.

Daniel suffers from mild cerebral palsy and competes in the Multi Disability events. He holds 2 National Age Records for the under 13 age group and, swimming in Thailand at the Far East and South Pacific International Competition Games he won Bronze in 100 Backstroke.

Thomas Brown gained selection for the Country Victoria Tri State team meet where he won 2 gold and 1 silver medal. He has been chosen for the Victorian VSSSA team for 1999 to compete in Brisbane. Being chosen for this team is Thomas’s biggest goal.

Thus far we have given financial assistance totalling about $4,000 covering events including National Junior Surf Life Saving Championships, Pacific School Games, Australian Age Championships, and both Primary and Secondary School National competitions.
