The Queenscliff Blue Water Challenge was established to not only challenge our members and other swimmers, but to raise revenue which can be used for the club and to promote and develop swimming on the Bellarine Peninsula. To date over $10,000 has been donated to various local junior swimmers. Many have benefitted from our funds to compete at State and National events.
The event is held on the last Saturday in January next to the historic Queenscliff pier. Over 500 participants took up the challenge this year ranging in age from 12 years to 75 years. The course takes swimmers around the end of the pier for 1.2 km with the Point Lonsdale Surf lifesaving club keeping a close eye on the safety aspects.
Our generous sponsors donate prizes for the leading male and female in all age categories. Our events are: 14 years+ 1200 metre Dash for Cash - 500 metre sprint for a $200 cash prize.
