Ambulance Insurance Cover
The committee strongly recommends members protect themselves by taking
out ambulance
insurance cover, not only for safety but peace of mind. the following
information is a
verbatim paragraph from a recent Vicwalk letter to all affiliated clubs
on Insurance Renewal.
We feel we should highlight the
importance of urging our club members to have
ambulance insurance cover. Although our personal accident policy
includes ambulance hire, the
overall limit under the appropriate section "Medical" is $200 per
claim. Recent experience shows
ambulance hire can be extremely expensive, eg. A short distance in the
metropolitan area is $300-$600 and a helicopter rescue in the bush
$7,000. This is, of course, in addition to
any claimable medical costs.
