Club ProfileBasically Bushwalking Club is a small club comprising approximately 50 members. We aim to provide two walks a month or one every second week-end. The majority of our walks are day walks, (held on a Sunday) we normally have week-end camps on long week-ends and some ordinary week-ends. We make use of guide or scout camps, caravan parks or camping venues. Our walks vary from suburban streets, rail trails, metropolitan parks to more difficult and testing terrains. We are a Melbourne based club, our members stretch from Barwon Heads in the west to Blind Bight in the east. Our club consists of people in the 40-70 age group, who all have the common interest of enjoying the bush and the pleasure of walking. We do not have children or pets on our walks, we do however encourage visitors to walk with us to "give us a try". OrganizationThe club members elect a committee of seven at the Annual General Meeting held in February of each year. The Committee meets bi-monthly at the home of one of the members. We have an annual planning night in October of each year to plan the walks program for the following year. This is achieved by members volunteering to lead a walk, be it for a day or a week-end. We hold a few social events during the year. A monthly Newsletter is produced and posted to all financial members. The newsletter contains details of forthcoming walks up to 6 weeks in advance, reviews of walks held in the previous month, and any other relevant news or issues which may be of interest to members. The leader of each walk is the contact point for that particular walk. Members ring the leader to book in for the appropriate walk, and to obtain details of the walk. Car shuttles are arranged on the day if needed to complete a walk. After the completion of most walks we manage to find a nearby pub or coffee shop for a drink and a chat about the day's pleasures. Membership FeesCurrent Membership Fees: Our fees fall due in February of each year payable at our Annual General Meeting Visitors are welcome to walk with the club; after completing 3 walks as a visitor you are required to become a financial member in order to continue walking with us.
