November 2009

Wed 4    General Meeting at Mordialloc Neighbourhood House 8pm

Sat 7     Barwon River
V/line will make special arrangements to accommodate several bikes in carriage on 24 Hours notice. So reserve your seat in advance and please let Richard know. Book yourself on the train to Geelong from Southern Cross return and the return trip. Each circuit is 21 km long and can be ridden both ways to end up in the same spot. RATING: 95% Easy (there will be some hills getting to the start from the station and back). AMENITIES: Are very good -Water, Toilets, Picnic areas, mostly sealed surface (2km compacted gravel), Big Cafe. But bring lunch and some extra water. Will be well worth the effort.

Sat 14     Coffee shop ride Cheltenham to Oakleigh 
Ride one way or both ways. Enjoy the Greek  (coffee and the marvellous diet Greek cakes with lots of cream and etc!!) shops in Oakleigh.     
Easy 25km    

Sat 21/Sun 22     Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail 
Saturday train from Southern Cross and train it to Beaufort . Ride Stockyard Hill Road to Skipton for overnight stay at Skipton Hotel.  Three double rooms with single beds and two double bedrooms  booked. Self serve breakfast included. Sunday ride rail trail from Skipton to Ballarat. Trains leave Ballarat 4.12pm (arr SC 5.28) or 5.07pm (arr SC 6.26).   
Medium Sat 40km, Sun 55km    

Sat 28     Boathouse Ride 
Barry will be back on his bike by then and keen to have a good time. A favourite ride to Studley Park Boat House or Fairfield Boathouse starting from East Malvern and finishing at East Malvern in a loop.     Easy-med 35-40km

Sun 6 Mordy to Hampton This is Steve’s first ride as leader. Leave Mordialloc Station Water Tower and wander to Hampton to Steve’s choice of coffee shop

Sat 12 Christmas BBQ at Braeside Park
Put it in your diary, you have plenty of warning. Enter from Governor Road. BYO everything.

See the newly rebuilt market. Leave Mordialloc Station at 9am or join at Carrum for a 30km ride.

Sat 23 Pakenham Area Ride
More details to follow (Potential for 4 day alternative ride taking into account Australia Day)

Sat 30 Dandenong to Berwick with a visit to Wilson Botanic Park
Leave Dandenong Station at to visit Wilson Botanic Park in Berwick. Part road and part bike path. Some walking in the park. A slightly modified version of Mae’s very successful ride. For short ride start at Berwick. Ride can be extended to Mordialloc.

February 2010

Wed 3 General Meeting at Mordialloc Neighbourhood House 8pm

Sat 6  Bundoora Park
Start Fairfield Station. Route will include travelling along the Creek via Rushall Station
then to Richmond. There are lots of stations along the way so you can select your own
distance.
Easy/Med

Sat 13 Willy via Punt
Start Brighton Beach and ride along the beach trail to the punt for a trip to Science works landing then on to Williamstown.

Sat 20 Craigieburn to Southbank
Train to Craigieburn then down the Merri Creek to Southbank. There is a fair bit ofdown hill in this ride. All on bike paths.
