Ron Barassi

Ron Barassi spent a couple of years in the reserves at the Demons before sementing a place in the senior side. Melbourne coach, Norm Smith saw great potential in young Barassi and successfuly harnessed his encredible talent. Barassi often helped Melbourne to victory off his own boot by his dominance and sheer determination. He startedhis early footy career as a half-forward flanker but soon took on the roll as ruck-rover, using his great strength and leadership qualities. Barassi always urged the Demons on, with his voice and led by example. Ronald Dale Barassi never knew the word defeat. He later played for Carlton as captain/coach, coached North Melbourne to two Flag's, then later returning to Melbourne as coach.
