About the Reserves

The Barringo bushland reserves are situated in the heart of the picturesque Barringo valley, Macedon Ranges - approximately 5 km north of the Gisborne railway station and 50 km north-west of Melbourne,Victoria.
The total area of public land covers approximately 40 hectares in two sections- the picnic ground section on north of Shannons Road which is part of the Macedon Regional Park, and the southern section, owned and managed by the Macedon Ranges Shire Council.
Part of this Council land is used by the Macedon Pony Club.
Walkers who climb to the top of the hill at the back of the pony club area will see thickets of ancient grass-trees and magnificent views towards Mt Macedon.
The Parks Vic area, north of Shannon's Road includes wooded picnic grounds, grassy forest and fern gullies following the Barringo Creek. (Map)

Update (2006) : The crown land section, north of Shannon's Road is now included in the Macedon Regional Park and is managed by Parks Vic. This section was previously managed by the Macedon Ranges Shire Council.
