The Bangerang Creation Story
Long ago in the Dreaming, the river did not flow through Bangerang Country.
So the people asked Biami for help. Biami decided to send his Wiinya (wife)
to help them. He asked his Winya to make a mark with her kunna (digging stick )
in the earth from Tocumwal to Echuca.
After his Wiinya had completed the task Biami sent the Great Serpent
Toonatpan and asked the great Serpent to follow the mark his Wiinya had made in the earth. Biami then created a great stom with much tunder, lightning and rain.
The river was filled bringing life to the country. The people, the animals and the plants arose out of the country.

Fish story
The Aborigines were chasing Boorinawa, a Murray Cod in a small creek.
He swam strongly to get away bet the creek got shallower and narrower. The Aborigines speared him with pine spears. Murray Cod started thrashing and kicked up the sandy creek bed, but the kept spearing him. This is why there are sandy hills by the Murray river, with strands of Murray pine trees on them.
