Flinders Bay Caravan Park, Augusta
3 kms south of post office, Albany Terrace leads off road to Cape Leeuwin. Drive through Augusta townsite heading towards Light House, last caravan park on left. Owned by council. Ph: 08 9758 1380. Dogs on leash.
Manager's name is Scott & Carol Jones. Each powered site had a hedge around it ensuring privacy. Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good, found telephone numbers for me for local attractions. Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($29 2A per night powered, peak period). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, large sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), secure entry. Quiet, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade, no permanents. Dogs on leash. Clean UC bbq, bbq area lighting. No playground, no pool. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Dislikes: When it rains, some sites flood. Office very small. 2-3 people crowded.
Parking: yes, outside of the park.

Report submitted by Andrew and Anne.

Manager's name is Andrew & Lorraine. Straight through town, well signposted. Nice park but with a bit more customer service the rating could be much higher. Friendly staff, average staff response to complaints. Price was as expected, good value for money ($20 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was inadequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, dump point. Peaceful, open and roomy, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. No permanents. Dirty wood bbq (free). No playground, no pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Right on the beach. The grounds of the park were immaculately kept, the sites were large and most of them have a hedge between each site. TV reception in this area was poor but management will lend you a TV aerial free of charge, which will give you better reception.
Dislikes: There was no one at reception when we arrived, a note stuck to the door saying pick a site and come and see us later. No park or tourist information was given even when we went back later to pay. The shower block nearest to our van ran out of hot water and when we informed management we were advised that they were having trouble with the heating and that we should use one of the other blocks. The park is well lit but sometime during the night all lights are switched off even in the ablution blocks.
Parking: Outside reception.
Roads: Full tar but most of the roads are fairly bumpy.

Molloy Caravan Park, Augusta
Located opposite Molloy Island at the junction of the Blackwood and Scott Rivers. Turn into Fisheries Road, Kudardup, 7km north of Augusta and travel 7km along the road to the park on the river. Ph: 08 9758 4515.
The park has a boat ramp on Blackwood River. Park is frequented by fishermen and kayakers. Sites are grassed and shady. No concrete slabs but are all very roomy. Although the water to the sites is labelled as "non-pottable", it is bore water and well filtered, we also filtered it and found it to be great water for drinking. Park managers drink it all the time. If you don't like this idea you can get rainwater for drinking from the tank near the amenities block. The park has a very good amenities block, reasonably new and spotlessly clean. The laundry is also in tip-top condition. Very friendly staff. Price was as expected, good value for money ($19.00 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, adequate taps close by. Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Basic playground, no pool. Suitable for few days, well maintained park.
Likes: Wonderful for children to see all the wildlife. Many different breeds of ducks, kangaroos and parrots around the sites. Pelicans and dolphins in the water. Management feed the animals daily and encourage visitors to do so as well.
Dislikes: Mosquito's nearly carried us off at the time of our visit. There are a lot of water areas around the park where the mossies can breed. These areas are also of some concern if you have small children who might wander.
Parking: Pull up outside the office, plenty of space for vans while booking in.
Added Touches: The park sells wood for the fire containers supplied at each site. Fish cleaning facilities are supplied near the boat ramp.

Manager's name is Hettie & Gary Enderes. This park is owned by the local shire. Average staff friendliness, staff explained park layout and facilities. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting. No pool. Report submitted by Littlenose.

Manager's name is Gary & Hettie Enderes. The permanents in the park were invisible but the some of the regular clients weren't necessarily the type of repeat client you would try to attract if trying to improve the image of the park. Food was stolen out the communal fridge, which greatly impacted on 1 family's stay. I would stay again in an off-peak time and if I could choose my site. Boat, trailer and additional car parking was provided away from sites but it was not enforced to prevent overcrowding and blocking off access ways. With some enforcement of the existing rules and preventing the amount of people allowed to occupy one site instead of booking 3 this could be a really great place to stay. Average staff friendliness, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($31.50 2A 2C per night powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were dirty, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly unlevel sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, hard to negotiate into site, poor water quality, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, no rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), good camp kitchen. Noisy, claustrophobic park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting. No pool. Suitable for month or longer, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: The camp kitchen was great, the park was set amongst bush which provided a good atmosphere and shade for some sites. BBQ's were good and clean. Camp kitchen had microwave, 2 kettles, a toaster and 2 double sinks and 2 sets of hotplates, 4 picnic tables in a glass enclosed kitchen area, big fridge with freezer.
Dislikes: The men's showers weren't suitable for a six footer. The showerheads weren't height adjustable and when I tried to get the back of my head wet I hit the taps with my hips adjusting the temperature. The steps into the showers weren't easily noticeable and could be a problem for older folk. We stayed over Christmas and left just before New Year. The atmosphere of the park changed as the New Year groups rolled in if we stayed again we would leave on Boxing Day before the park filled up. The hottest Christmas on record and management were still providing firewood with one of our neighbouring sites having a fire going in 35-degree temperatures from 6.00 in the morning to 10.00 at night. We queried whether our site was shaded and were advised that it was. What we weren't advised was that we only got the late afternoon shade when the heat had gone out of the day. As soon as the sun cleared the trees by 6.30am daylight saving time we were in full sun until about 4.00 pm in the afternoon. The sites weren't level but we were luckier than most but I ended up at the bottom of the tent every night. Food prep was a challenge as we didn't have anywhere level to put our table. It was a big hike to the camp kitchen and toilets. We had the power and water for four sites on our site and power cords running through our site to enable other sites to plug in. No sullage was provided for other campers who were washing their dirty dishes on our site. The inequity between the quality and location of sites was enormous. All this aside the biggest issue we had was when 3 families setup on the next site and spent the whole day smoking filling up our tents with cigarette smoke leaving us with no choice but to vacate the park. They were allowed to setup a caravan with a full annexe, camper trailer, tent and park three cars on one site, which meant that we had no room to park and they blocked off access ways with their cars. There was no enforcement by management off rules. Management were not visible, I didn't see the point in making a complaint to management as they had been coming to the park for years and were obviously allowed to behave in this way.
Added Touches: Fish cleaning tables, tide and weather information was provided at the office in addition to tourist information. Off-road mountain bike trails in the local area but little information was provided

Taunton Farm Holiday Park, Cowaramup
Follow the Bussell Highway approximately 50km south from Bunbury until you arrive at the Busselton By-Pass. Continue directly ahead (south) down the bypass and turning left at the end of bypass roundabout (VASSE). Pass the Vasse Store and a leisurely drive of 22km to Taunton Farm Holiday Park. There is a 2km approach sign on the left hand side of the road, and you will find the Taunton Farm entrance over the next hill rise. BIG4 member. Ph: 08 9755 5334 or 1800 248777.
Very happy with this park, will definitely be visiting again. Very good management, friendly management. Good value for money. Good amenities, can not cope in peak times, close to sites, were clean, were in good condition. Good sites, adequate number of tourist sites, sites were level, lighting at night was adequate, the site size was okay, drive-through sites were available, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Laundry, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point. Very good park atmosphere, quiet, open and roomy park, shady park. Clean UC gas bbq (free). Basic playground, condition okay. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, the park was well maintained.
Likes: Farm setting, lovely large open area, very green. Animals at farm. It was school holidays and a long weekend when we went but found the park did not have the feeling of being overcrowded.
Dislikes: Not enough amenities, people were queuing for a shower from about 7am to close to 10am.
Parking: Parking area outside reception
Added Touches: Pot belly stove in camper's kitchen lit each night. The manager took kids & parents on a "hay ride" with his tractor, through the paddocks amongst cows & camel. Discount card available for selected wineries.
Roads: Good roads, although road works were taking place about 1km up the road so make it a bit messy with the dirt when it rained.

A nice quiet park with excellent amenities. Grassed sites, we did not see any with concrete annex slabs. Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($25 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, good camp kitchen, dump point. Quiet, open and roomy, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Basic playground in average condition. No pool. Suitable for a few days, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Clean well maintained park.
Dislikes: We were disappointed because the advertising (handed to us by the owner further north at another park), said the park had animal feeding. Even their website shows children surrounded by animals. When we arrived we asked where the animals were and were told there were a few in the paddock at the back. There was no suggestion of feeding times at all. Mostly the animals in the paddock at the back stayed well away from the fence and were not easy for small children to actually see. One reason we decided on this park was that we had imagined from the advertising that children could experience a farm situation complete with animals up close and personal. This proved not to be the case. Perhaps we simply read too much into the advertising. If you like ducks there are plenty of them around the sites though.
Parking: Drive in down the drive, there is ample space to park while booking in.
Added Touches: There are a few discounts offered here and there is you say you are staying at the park. A list is available when you check in.

BIG4 member. On Bussel Highway. Went on long weekend and found the park very noisy even after 10pm. Average management. Reasonable value for money. Very good amenities, were clean, were in good condition, water pressure was okay, there was adequate hot water. Good sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Park atmosphere was okay. Clean free gas UC bbq. Basic playground, in good condition.
Dislikes: In addition to the noise after 10pm, there was a lack of control of the kids riding around the park, eg. riding through/near sites, skidding on the road and riding around the walkway of the ablution block. I know that it was school holidays and we should expect kids to be in greater numbers but in the whole their behaviour was quite poor and the management did nothing to control them. The cleaners were even standing there watching them riding around the ablution blocks around blind corners nearly skittling the pedestrians.

Dunsborough Lakes Caravan Park, Dunsborough

Clean pool is open to the sun. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: Easy to park van, 3 amenity blocks open at peak times, walking distance to beach, 2km to townsite shops and cafes. A number of permanents on site and a number of park home/caravans owned by holidaymakers. The park is similar style to the less modern full on parks. Reasonable value all round.

UPDATED REPORT NEEDED

Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($32 2A 2C per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Basic laundry, no rec room, kiosk. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, no permanents. Good playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for few days, well maintained park.
Likes: 2 Minute walk to beach, clean, rubbish bins each site emptied daily, great peaceful family retreat. Bush setting, plenty of trees for shade although this would make negotiating some bigger vans troublesome. Bays on the roadside or secluded in the corners or by the lake, something to suit everybody.
Dislikes: Bit noisy in the morning as crayfish boats moored in the bay head out early.
Parking: Limited parking while checking in as office is at the rear of the park. Plenty of room to turn caravan around in boat ramp car park (one way loop road)
Added Touches: Open fires allowed in contained (movable) fireplaces. Firewood $6 per bag.
Local Information: Great fishing spot. Beach varies from sheltered bay for the kids to raging surf, all within a few kilometers. 4WD beach access.

Conto Beach Campground, Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park
18 kms south-west of Margaret River. Turn down Conto Road off Caves Road (signposted). Suitable for caravans. 2 kms of dirt road. Three separated campgrounds. Individual camp sites nestled in bushland around a one-way road. Each campsite has picnic table and open fireplace with hotplate (wood supplied in each campground).
We found this to be a very well run and maintained CALM campground. The officer was very helpful and friendly. The amenities in the individual camp site were long drop toilets only. When we arrived they were very clean and tidy and not smelly. As more people arrived they started to smell but this is due to people not using the disinfectant not a fault of the officers. In the larger camp areas the amenities were tiled and ventilated and in great condition. There are signs stating that there is to be no alcohol consumed, this is their way of trying to keep out Yahoos, during our stay there were school groups and thus was a little noisy but only till about 9.30. Very friendly staff, staff helped us at the site. Price was lower than expected, very good value for money ($10 2A 2C per night). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, average sized sites. Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade. Family/friendly atmosphere No playground, no pool. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Likes: Very well maintained (mowed areas), very well sign posted for walks. Lots of animals roaming through the park.
Dislikes: Did get busy on the weekends.
Local Information: This is on the Cape to Cape walk so it provides great walking trails and close to beaches although probably not in walking distance. Walking distance to one of the caves.
Roads: Little corrugated but accessible in any car.

Point Road Campground, Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park
4WD access only. Turn down Conto Road off Caves Road (signposted). Don't enter Conto Beach Campground but continue to the beach. 4 kms of rutted dirt road. Point Road will be on the left (signposted). This is where the 4WD bit starts - rocky.
UPDATED REPORT NEEDED

This campground is more shaded than Conto (too shaded) and the individual camp sites were not as nice. It's more open than Conto, but because of the difficult access it's more quiet. We only saw this campground while we were getting lost 4WDing. We helped a cyclist who said that Conto was the better of Point Road and Boranup (not seen by us) campgrounds.
Campground Rating 2: We'd prefer Conto Beach.

Manager's name is Laura & Michael Golding. This is a good place if you want to see Margaret River but want a nice peaceful and quiet park away from the crowds. This park has potential of a higher star rating but needs more TLC. Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Park management confirm that they charge a fee for dogs of $3 per dog per night or $10 a week per dog, as well as a $20 dog bond per dog that is refundable.
This park was the worst I have ever stayed in. It was a toolies and schoolies "hangout" with no regard given to families and small children. The standard of hygiene was a disgrace with the toilets and showers so filthy that they were a health hazard. The park used large skip bins, that although emptied every second day were not cleaned so the smell that came from them was rank! Average staff friendliness, bad staff response to complaints. Price was as expected, poor value for money ($38 2A 2C per night powered). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to most sites, were dirty, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, concrete annex slabs, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry. Noisy, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade. Clean gas bbq (free). Basic playground in average condition. Clean pool is open to sun, kid-safe pool area. Suitable for overnighter

I have never received poorer customer service than that which we received here. We and another family booked two ensuite sites months before our holiday time. When we arrived after 4 hours in the car and 5 very tired and hungry children, we were told there was only one site for us. They admitted they had made a mistake but eventually called someone who had a booked and asked them to take another site their van would fit on. At the end of a long day there was no apology. There is no computer system at this park. If you are going to stay here please be sure you have some kind of confirmation in writing and reconfirm your booking serveral times. Very unfriendly staff, bad staff response to complaints. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($50 2A 2C per night powered) Amenities, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs, hard to negotiate into site. Basic laundry, no rec room, kiosk. Noisy, claustrophobic park, too much shade. Pets at manager's discretion. Clean UC gas bbq (free). Basic playground in average condition. Clean pool is open to sun, pool area not considered kid-safe.

Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, average sized sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), good camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point, secure entry. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Dogs on a leash. Clean free gas bbq in congenial UC bbq area, lighting, seating provided. Basic playground in average condition. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Likes: Quiet, but close to everything.

Local Information: Visit Margaret River surf at Prevally and picnic. Go to the Eagle Heritage and have photo op with the free flight eagle on your arm and listen to a fascinating talk. Kids will love this. Get in line as soon as he calls for it. Visit the cheese shop and factory ,both excellent for a picnic feed later. Prevelly Park Resort Camping Ground, Prevelly Park
UPDATED REPORT NEEDED

Right on the beachfront in the middle of the town. Great location, beautifully shaded and grassed areas, but very expensive. We paid $13 per adult and $7 a child for mid-season, higher prices at Xmas. A family with 4 kids would pay $54, which I consider exorbitant. The amenities were very dirty and run-down, lots of leaking taps and only a very superficial clean, cobwebs in the ceiling, scum marks in showers etc. We stayed 3 nights and had 2 different parties going on different nights, no owners on site and no after hours phone number printed on the site brochure, hence no-one to complain to. Music was still going at 12:30 one night. We left after the 2nd night of interrupted sleep, staff response was "we may have to move that lot to the back of the park". Average management. Poor value for money. Poor amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, close to sites. Good sites, the site size was okay, adequate taps close by. Laundry, security entry to park. Poor atmosphere to park.

Caves Caravan Park, Yallingup
Yallingup Beach Road at the top of the hill. Ph: 08 9755 2196. Pets allowed.
Recent changes to private ownership sees a park with potential, poorly run and maintained. There is little thought about placing caravans on recognised tent sites, which are not suitable. The en-suites are cleaned prior to arrival and when you leave, with no provisions supplied, or cleaning materials. Grounds need a good spruce-up and laundry facility is below standard. Very good value for money. Poor amenities. Poor sites, poor water quality. Park atmosphere was okay, shady park. Dogs allowed. Electric bbq. Basic playground in poor condition.
Likes: Generally quiet except from hotel music over the road.
Dislikes: Did not seem to know the needs of caravan tourists.

Went into the office on check in, walking into the 2 staff discussing how a customer was not being given a refund, as it was at "management discretion", fair enough - but it was being done in a very aggressive, "stroppy" manner. All taps within reach (+ 2 sites) were marked "do not drink", so no drinking water available - fine if you are advised in advance, but no good when you rock up without any water in your tanks. Unfriendly staff, bad staff response to complaints. Price was as expected, poor value for money ($48 2A 2C per night). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to only some sites, were dirty, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly unlevel sites, good night lighting, small sites, poor water quality. Basic laundry, no rec room, late checkout allowed (past noon), kiosk. Noisy, plenty of shade. No pets allowed. Dirty wood bbq (free). Basic playground in average condition. No pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: good location.
Dislikes: see above, dismal site - would not recommend
