Australind Tourist Park, Australind
Ph: 08 9725 1206.
We booked 2 sites as far back as July and cancelled 1 in Sept as our friends couldn't go. When we arrived the sites we booked
were now units and they said no worries we will move you to another site. They gave us a site next to the new units and we asked
what the boundaries of this site were. After we set up went to town and did some shopping on our return found a couple setting up
a tent on our site next to our door of our camper were we parked our car and plugged in our fridge. When told by us to move its our
site then told no manager said it was ok. Then he appeared and I said this is not on and he said they were fully booked and they had
to set up there. Not happy about it but could do nothing about it. They offered an extension cord to plug our fridge in and to park
on driveway of unit as no one was in them yet we did. On new year's night we went to families house for festivities on our return
at 2 in the morning found a truck parked next to our camper as well. Now went to office in the morning and asked for it to be moved
and was told very rudely it would be later. I stormed out slamming the door and I was followed out by lady from office and asked did
I have a problem with that so I told her I did and with the way the park was run in general she then set to abuse me in very colourful
language and said that the truck was now staying there. After 2 or 3 hrs it was moved when we checked out early because we had had
enough, asked for a refund as we didn't have full site and the way we were treated and then told we don't do refunds for any reason
at all. So if you're considering staying there don’t.
Very unfriendly staff, bad staff response to complaints, staff helped us at the site.
Price was as expected, reasonable value for money.
Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to all sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure
is good, hot water was usually adequate but not when busy.
Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, shade to some sites.
Basic laundry, no rec room. Noisy, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade. No bbqs.
Likes: Good sites if for 1 couple not extras put on your site
Dislikes: Managers attitude to complaints, couldn't care less
Date 12/2008.

Likes: Very clean amenities.
Dislikes: It is on a very busy road. Don't expect much rest. The park has a camp kitchen, but it is not located in the
camping grounds, rather over where the self-contained units are. So, it isn't very useful at all. BBQ's are not undercover and
very little lighting around BBQ areas and throughout the whole park. The overall quality of the park is excellent, but the
traffic noise ruins it and would prevent us from staying there again.

Along Bussell Highway south towards Dunsborough, it's on right hand side about 1.5kms from the main street you come into town from.

Manager's name is Peta.
Average management, friendly management.
Reasonable value for money.
Good amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, close to sites, were clean, were in good condition, water pressure was
okay, there was adequate hot water.
Average sites, sites were level, annexe slabs were available, hard to negotiate in to/out of site, adequate taps close by,
adequate sullage close by.
Laundry, rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), security entry to park.
Park atmosphere was okay, shady park, family-friendly park.
Clean UC gas bbq, with a congenial atmosphere, lit at night, with seating provided.
Good playground in good condition.
Good clean pool with kid-safe pool area, and seating around the pool was provided.
Suitable for a few days, the park was well maintained.
Likes: Shade from loads of trees, close to beach, close to shops and main town.
Dislikes: Very claustrophobic, we seemed to be packed in like sardines, granted it was the school holidays. A lot of the
sites have apparently been sacrificed for the space for the new villas so this park has got smaller. It would be very hard for
large caravans to negotiate the sites as we have a 16 footer and it was hard enough. It was very noisy and we had the luck of
having very inconsiderate neighbours behind us who drank and chatted until all hours of the night. We did not enjoy our stay here at all.
Roads: Bitumen Road all the way.

then run guy ropes between the branches to erect the annex.

Kookaburra Caravan Park, Busselton
66 Marine Terrace. 229 kms south of Perth. Almost opposite the famous Busselton jetty on Marine Terrace. Ph: 08 9752 1516.
Dogs allowed in off peak but never in the chalets.
Council owned, this park is, in actuality, 3 parks:
Park 1, where we stayed is a basic park, open to the street on three sides, no security fence etc.
The amenity block is at one end of the park so, if like us, you are at the other end, it’s a fair walk to and fro.
Amenities are bright and light and cleaned well but the number of people using them during our stay meant they soon became dirty again.
Park 2, appears to be all permanents or annuals.
Park 3, was unoccupied whilst we were there but the amenity block, which is in the centre of the park, was being cleaned, I presume, in readiness for the Easter Holiday.
The reception and office is in a former house along Marine Terrace, halfway between parks 1 and 2.
Price was reasonable ($22 per night 2A with pensioner discount.)
If you use an air-conditioner it will cost you an extra $3.30 per day. Position is excellent, within easy walking distance to
beach, jetty (Closed for repair at the moment) and town centre. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were guided to our sites and assisted on to it.
Traffic around the park was quite noisy during the day but fairly quiet at night.
Suitable for a few days.

Report submitted by Toned-F.
The park was quite small but very nice. The office was on the other side of the road and therefore no staff in the park.
Not having their presence might bother some.
The possums come down at night and some that are fairly game and took apple pieces (provided by the park managers I think),
curled their tails around our fingers.
No microwaves in the chalets.
Good management. Good value for money.
Average amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, were clean, were in good condition, water pressure was okay,
there was adequate hot water. The ablution block was large and clean but no soap dispensers which I thought was odd.
Good sites, sites were level, lighting at night was adequate.

Likes: Set in a National Park. There was plenty of space between sites and the atmosphere was great. Stayed in tent in Oct 08 for a week and came
back in Dec 08 to stay in cabin for two nights on a cycling tour. Staff were great. Very peaceful. They allow parcels to be dropped of for users of the

Harvey Rainbow Caravan Park, Harvey
Just off Western Highway. Travelling south on South West Highway, turn right at town centre sign, park is a right turn just before the town centre. Ph: 08 9729 2239. Pets allowed.
Owner/Manager's name is Barbara.
We went to this park with a caravan club for three nights, small discount off (about $2 a day I think) for club members, simply loved
the place and location/local area. Would not hesitate to go again.
John Holland construction had their own caravans and ablution blocks on site but were doing some work on railway in the area.
Workers out most of the day, were very well behaved and quiet, suspect Owner/Manager ran a tight ship and they knew the rules.
Not sure how long they will be at the caravan park, but found them very friendly and cooperative.
Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff,

Lake Brockman Tourist Park, Harvey
Logue Brook Dam Road, 15 kms north-east of Harvey. Harvey is on the South Western Highway about 35 kms north of Bunbury.
This caravan park is located right next to Logue Brook Dam which sits on top of the
Darling Scarp north east of Harvey. Access is up a pretty steep incline but is worth the drive
as the park is set in bushland adjacent to the dam and is very pretty.Ph: 08 9733 5402. Dogs allowed on leash.

Noisy, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere.
Dogs everywhere off lead around the park even in the toilets.
No bbqs, no playground, no pool.
Dislikes: Everything - only stayed the night cos we had already paid. Should have camped in the bush. Felt cleaner before using the showers.
Arrived on New Years Day and it didn't look like the toilets had been cleaned for the past year. Dogs were supposed to be on lead but it wasn't enforced.
As cycle tourists we paid full price for a site but were accomodated in an access area to the toilets and had other tourists walking past our tents and
through our camping area all night. When we bought milk we were given an opened container and didn't get the full litre. On booking we weren't provided with a
map of the park. I would by-pass this park and camp on DEC managed campsites the pit toilets were cleaner. They only sold bread, milk and ice-cream -
no other food. No camp kitchen. Laundry was swarming with flies. Faeces spread on the walls of the toilets. Really hot day - over 35 degrees yet fires were
allowed. Lots of hoons in speed boats doing laps of Logue Brook Dam from sunrise to sunset leaving no safe places to swim.

Kojonup Caravan Park, Kojonup
From Perth take the Albany Highway to Kojonup, which is a nice leisurely 3 hour drive with stops on the way. Ph: 08 9831 1127.
Dogs allowed on leash but also plenty of room to run around.
In November 2005 we purchased the caravan park and immediately started to upgrade the park, both the facilities and the tenants.
Our first commitment was to make the park more secure and tourist friendly. A cable security gate was installed to keep hoons out
and the undesirable permanent tenants were asked to leave. This made the park a much safer place for all tenants and visitors.
We have also installed a campers kitchen, EFTPOS and a free gas BBQ. The amenities block has been upgraded and the general
maintenance and appearance of the Park has greatly improved. We are also offering "pay for two nights and get the third night free"
for powered and un-powered sites.

My pets were very welcome.
Made to feel very welcome by the resident park owners Peter & Carolyn. Well maintained park with very clean amenities. Best

Likes: The park has changed a lot since I stayed a couple of years ago. The new owners have done a great job and the park is
now clean and well maintained. I planned to stay one night and spent a week.
Dislikes: There needs to be more garden areas but Carolyn the park owner is working on that and we had more than a few cups
of coffee talking about what plants were best for the area.
Parking: You do have to park outside the security gate while you book in but that is not a problem.
Added Touches: You can get a free ride to town if need be.

Mandurah Caravan and Tourist Park, Mandurah
On Pinjarra Road out of Town. Ph: 08 9535 1171 or 1800 332 221. Top Tourist member. No pets allowed.
A quiet, well-maintained park quite a way out of town. If approaching from Mandurah you have
to go past the park, on your right, and make a U turn. From Pinjarra, no problem, it?s on your
left.
At least half of the sites are taken by permanents/annuals but most of them look well maintained
(some quite attractive). Staff are friendly and helpful. We were assisted on to site and also
assisted in unhitching and setting up (A first for us!).
The park is green and attractive with a number of mature trees and shrubs. Most sites are
concrete slabs, many of them double size so you have a nice level area under your awning. It
might be a bit difficult to erect a standard sort of annexe though.
There are two amenity blocks, each with laundry, which are light and bright. Shower cubicles are
fairly large but shower heads are water savers.
There is a pool and spa and, next to them a covered lounge area with basket chairs, a coffee
machine and soft-drink dispenser. Down the back of the park, next to the camping area is a large
camp-kitchen/BBQ area.
No dump point.
Ideal for an extended stay.

Manager's name is Reg & Donna.
Never before has a park owner or manager helped me to unhitch my van although I more often than not travel alone. Fortunately
for me Reg did and he picked up that there was a serious problem with my tow bar. I thought it needed greasing but in fact he
discovered it had not bolts holding it on to the car. He phoned and booked me in to a tow bar specialist who found it fell off
in his hand. Following the new towbar being fitted, Reg altered the setting for the Hayman Reese Weight distribution Hitch on the
suggestion of the towbar specialist. I cannot speak more highly of the management of this van park and I will highly recommend
people visiting Mandurah to stay with Reg and Donna as nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. It would be wonderful if
more people cared about their customers as they do.

Likes: The fact that Reg is so observant and helpful, I am sure he saved someone's life by recognizing my tow bar was not
fitted properly.
Added Touches: They supply you with a book of all the brochures from the local tourist attractions to use during your visit.
Reg helps back into and set up the van on the site allocated. Unhitching, and connecting to the power and water. Never had this
service before anywhere.
Local Information: The fresh fish outlet diagonally opposite the Information centre, which is not all that easy to find,
sells the steamed crabs from the Coogee Crab Shack which had to be pulled down for development. These are the best crabs ever.

Office hours are from 1pm to 5pm weekdays - very unusual for a tourist park. The park was advertised in the tourist information picked up from the tourist
information centre. We tried to ring before going with no answer but we went anyway due to reports on Badger's site. It was Sunday about 1pm and the office was closed.
One of the tenants approached us and indicated it'd be ok to find a site and setup and fix the manager up the next day. The manager arrived about 9am the next day and
asked us what we were doing there and we would have to move. He said we'd have to move 2 spaces up even though there were many vacant sites, with the reason being that
'it's just the way it is'. He said we'd need to come to the office between 1 and 5 to check which site or if he had a site, even though he was told we'd only be staying
a few days. He then went on to ask how long the van is and said he would have said no as they weren't allowed to take 21' vans, but backed down when I pointed out a van
4 sites up that was obviously longer. We politely declined, paid the $32 for the previous night, even though we had no access to the amenities. We were told the new
slabs had been setup for permanents. The park, while tidy, was bare and overpriced and well away from Perth, The surrounding area is not pleasant, despite being close
to the water. The grain handler is adjacent to the part and could be heard all night. The new slabs were double slabs but grossly uneven and we needed to level the van.
Lawns were long and unkempt making the park and sites look untidy. I'd avoid this park at all costs. The manager was rude and arrogant, although I understand he was
filling in for the owner. No tourist help offered whatsoever. We moved up to Karrinyup Resort on the northern beaches, which was $31 and couldn't do enough - lovely park,
beautiful ponds with ducks and birds, and pool and spa, and nice grassed campsite.
Very unfriendly staff, bad staff response to complaints
Price was higher than expected, poor value for money ($32 2A per night, powered, off-peak season).

Previously a predominantly "permanents" park, the size has been nearly doubled, all the
extra for tourists, mostly powered sites, some camping, only about 25% currently open for use, however the remainder is already all
grassed and has power, retic, sullage and concrete pads underway. Whole park has been upgraded, all roads hot-mix bitumen, concrete kerbed,
existing area has a modern ablution block to match the new one in the new section, all areas are very complete and good grass cover.
Existing area ablution block also has fully grassed "park" and children's playground adjacent. Also continues to allow dogs (great!).
Men's toilet section has individual "waterless" urinals - you cannot smell a thing! Plenty of trees/shade in existing area of park,
yet to be established in most of new section - great large trees in proposed camping areas. No swimming pool required, swimming beach
and grassed park with facilities is just across the road from the caravan park.

Rockingham Holiday Village, Rockingham
147 Dixon Road. If coming from the north on Highway 1, take the Mandurah Rd turnoff and turn right at Dixon Rd. Park is on the right and only about 300 metres from traffic
lights at Mandurah Rd. If coming from the south Highway 1 is Ennis St, so turn right at Dixon Rd. The park is on the left and about 1.5km from Ennis Rd. If on
the Kwinana Freeway, take the Thomas St exit and go to Highway 1, turn left and follow the above directions from the north. Ph: 08 9527 4240. Family Parks member.
Park is at least 50% permanents, although the tourist sites are mostly grouped together so the permanents don't impact so much. Large ablutions blocks, with good size showers,
but no shower curtains and the dry area had a slope away from the wet area, so any drips or splashes immediately ran through the dry area and out across the common area. Basin taps
only worked while being pressed and then whooshed out, which makes it really hard to wash your hands properly and even harder to clean your teeth. Barbecues were in good condition and
cleaned daily, but weren't as hot as they should be, you wouldn't want to try and cook a good steak. Sites were concrete with concrete annex slab, but ours at least was all broken up,
making it very uneven.
Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($30 2A per night, powered).
Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water,
separate bathroom, soap provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities.
Adequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by.
Basic laundry, no rec room, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point, secure entry.
Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere.
Clean UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq.
Good playground in good condition.
No pool.
Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Washing machines only $2.40 per load, cheapest we've found.
Dislikes: Terrible basin taps in amenities.
Parking: Difficult parking van at check in, you just have to take up most of driveway and hope others can get around.
