Carnamah Caravan Park, Carnamah
130 km south east of Dongara. 1km north of Post Office. Turn into park from Macpherson St. Park is next to the oval and is signposted. Council park. Dogs allowed, on a leash. Ph: 08 9951 7000.
Manager's name is Peter. This is a good no frills smaller caravan park, ie no playground or pool. Very good value for money at $20 a night, $130 a week or if you stay longer than 4 weeks its $72 a week. There is a free community BBQ and free washing machine in the laundry. Carnamah is a small prosperous town in the wheat belt and has a supermarket, hotel newsagent, roadhouse with all fuels including LPG. Park can get busy in the wildflower season. There are 5 onsite vans and 20 tourist sites. Park layout is very good and all sites are large and level with a fine gravel surface. This is one of the most spacious parks we have ever been in. The drive throughs are big enough for a truck and 5th wheeler. There is some shade but it would be a hotspot in the middle of summer. The amenity block is relatively new and well maintained. We stayed here to escape the overcrowding and price hikes on the coast during the school holidays and would do so again. There where still plenty of wildflowers around in October and Carnamah is well placed in the middle the everlasting trail. Phone number is the Carnamah Shire Office. If the caretaker is not in his cabin when you arrive just pick a site, set up and Peter will catch up with you when he returns. Good management, friendly management. Good amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, close to sites, were clean, were in good condition, water pressure was okay, there was adequate hot water. Very good sites, sites were level, the site size was okay, drive-through sites were available, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good atmosphere to park, quiet, open and roomy park. Clean bbq (free). Suitable for a week or more, the park was well maintained.
Likes: The space and the peace and quiet. Park is well away from the main road which is not very busy anyway.
Local Information: Excellent and active bowls club nearby which serves very good meals Friday evening.
Roads: Good bitumen roads from all directions into Carnamah.
Date 10/2008. Park Rating 2.5:

Carnarvon Information

Good shopping centre in Carnarvon. The Gascoyne river which is mostly dry is very impressive. Interesting tours around the local banana plantations.
Excellent fishing on One Mile jetty for mulloway, shark, yellowfin, bream. Whiting near channel markers at Pelican Point. Very good sized tailor on beaches late afternoon until dark between Norwest Fisheries and Pelican Point. Bumbak plantation do a good informative tour. Lighthouse keeper's cottage and museum at the One Mile jetty well worth a look. Fresh local prawns at Norwest Fisheries in season (good prices).
This lovely town has lots to offer, well worth spending time here. The jetty and museum area is a must see, and a drive north to the Quobba blowholes etc is a wonderful day out. The Sandhurst Tavern, though it looks very ordinary from the outside, has a great steak meal deal for $10.
The town is famous for its fruit and vegetables which are cheap and plentiful especially at the market on Saturday mornings.
Ride the "Coffee Pot" train at One Mile jetty. See the old OTC dish on the hill and from the park. Lunch at Carnarvon Hotel & Waters Edge Restaurant, good views over the Fascine, great sunsets. Good food at Harbourside cafe and Hacienda Crab near the water.
Blowholes, HMAS Sydney Memorial Cairn, lovely fresh fruit and vegetables direct from the farms are excellent value for money, and town tour bus.

Capricorn Holiday Park, Carnarvon
1042 North Coastal Highway, just before the turnoff to Geraldton coming from the north. Turn north at the T-junction at Carnarvon and it's just on the right. Ph: 08 9941 8153. Family Parks member. Dogs on leash, at manager's discretion.
Manager's name is Robyn & Dick Carroll. This park has two distinct sections, old and new. We were situated in the old section and have therefore based our report on that. It is obvious that the new section is getting all the attention as there was no work of any description done during our stay in the old section. Concrete pads need repair, grass needs mowing and watering, hedges need trimming and trees need clipping. Although the toilet block was clean it is desperately in need of renovation. Management were very ordinary and when we asked where a specific street was we were just given a 2008 town brochure with a small map inside and told to find it ourselves. It wasn't a case of management being under pressure as we were the only ones in reception at the time. The only park information we received was a bad photocopy of the park and told where our site was and a list of DON'Ts. No other park or tourist information was forthcoming. We didn’t feel very welcome. We will look at other parks in Carnarvon before staying here again. Average staff friendliness. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($24 2A per night, powered, peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, all level sites, good night lighting, large sites, concrete annex slabs, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, basic rec room, good camp kitchen, dump point. Quiet, open and roomy, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, too many permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Dislikes: A charge of 2% to use a credit card.
Parking: Outside reception
Local Information: Blowholes, HMAS Sydney Memorial Cairn, lovely fresh fruit and vegetables direct from the farms are excellent value for money, and town tour bus.
Roads: Good.

A new section has been opened behind the house/office with 20 sites with concrete slabs, with power water and sullage well placed with a lighted bollard for each 4 vans. The slabs are excellent, although they slope, some a bit too much and are surrounded by red sandy dirt that sticks to everything when it rains, which it has been doing. No doubt the area will be grassed. A new amenities block is also excellent, although there is no soap or towels at this point. A new dump point is there but not yet in use. There are 2 washers in the new laundry but no dryer. Beware if you intend to do washing here. Four loads in the old laundry took 5 hours to wash and dry at a cost of $36.00 and most items were still not properly dry. Management has a practice of allowing some vans to park on the reverse side of the slab in the new section. The result is that instead of a buffer of a car park and a slab between vans there is a space of less than 3 meters. You don't need friends this close, let alone complete strangers.

Carnarvon Caravan Park, Carnarvon
Robinson street. 5klms east of post office. From the south turn left off the Northwest Highway into Robinson Street and head toward Carnarvon town about 5km on right. Ph: 08 9941 8101. Pets at manager's discretion. Separate site area for people with dog.
Good friendly park with big sites some with slabs and grassed areas. Lot of older retirees from Perth stay for a few months during winter months because of the warmer climate. This wasn't a problem at all and in fact brightened the park up as they were all very nice and happy people. Great stay and with all facilities provided. Pensioner and reductions for longer stays. Couple of ablution blocks were in need of some redecorating but were adequate. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, very good value for money ($110 2A per week powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, concrete annex slabs, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, no rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), disabled facilities, secure entry. Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. No bbqs, no playground, no pool. Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Friendly.
Parking: Park and book at front entrance before entering site.
Added Touches: Discounts for seniors or longer stays.
Local Information: Plenty of sites to see at Carnarvon and surrounding coastal areas. Plenty of great fishing. Wonderful spot for boating. Great shopping area with plenty of services. Gateway to the Pilbra and Northwest.
Roads: All roads are good condition on main roads. There are a lot of areas and sites where you need to travel on unsealed roads and it is always recommended to make sure they are safe especially after rains. Make sure you advise people or police where you are going and time expected back if you intend to drive off road. Drive only appropriate vehicles,4WDs.

Reasonable park with multiple facilities blocks, although they all seemed to be clustered at one end of the park. The one closest to us had only 2 showers and one toilet, but the next block was no more than 20 metres further away. Park is next to airport, but planes are so infrequent we weren't disturbed at all. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($27 2A per night, powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Clean UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Clean pool is open to the sun, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Dump points every few sites. Multiple clothes lines scattered around park, so you can hang your clothes near your site. Great ironing board.
Local Information: Growers' market at info centre on Saturday morning has fabulous local fruit and veg.

Manager's name is Jon and Liz. We stayed here for 3 weeks and found it to be friendly and comfortable. If ever we go back to Carnarvon we would look at staying here again. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for money. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, late checkout allowed (up to noon), car wash. Noisy, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Seating provided at bbq. Clean pool is open to sun, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: Staff friendliness and desire to help make your stay enjoyable. Pressure cleaner hire ($5.00) for washing vehicles/vans. Fairly dry change area in showers. Vacuum cleaner hire ($5.00). Easy walking distance to town centre. Plenty of washing machines. Have a few ablution blocks in the park so when 1 is closed for cleaning there is always another not too far away. Some sites without concrete pad. Other guests, both long and short term were very friendly. Very well lit park. The manager Jon doesn't tolerate those who break the park rules. Park managers will park vans for anyone requiring assistance.
Dislikes: Copped quite a lot of rain one day whilst there, the gravel roadways turned to slop, water on roadways was up to the top of kerbing and took the best part of 2 days to clear up. Lots of traffic/hoon noise, the noise level from the park patrons was good. Lots of plane noise as it is fairly close to airport.
Parking: Limited parking space
Added Touches: Free sausage sizzle nights are held but only at certain times of the year, not while we were there. Sink available for fish cleaning (they provide blue garbage bags for fish offal that is to be put in a freezer in camp kitchen to keep smell out of bins).
Roads: Road condition fairly good, lots of wildlife on roads (cattle, kangaroos and goats), need to keep alert.

Marloo Retiree and Seniors Tourist Park, Carnarvon
Wise Street, just off the main road into town at Mitre 10, about 3km out. Ph: 08 9941 1439. No children's facilities. No pets allowed.
Park specifically caters for the retiree and senior persons, so no facilities for families. However all ages appeared welcome. A well presented and maintained park, with nice gardens. Very friendly reception, site map given and the facilities and activities explained in some detail. Sites are reasonable size and well grassed, some with annexe pads, some drive-through, a few rather tight to get into. Fairly limited shade. Roads are gravel, but no problems with dust. Good water and sullage to all sites. Amenities are in centre of park, meaning a fair walk from some sites, but are spotlessly maintained, light and airy. Soap and hand drying provided, showers have curtains, mop supplied, plentiful hot water. Adequate for numbers staying in park. Laundry a little on small size, some waiting at times, machines operated by token from reception, $3 each. Reasonably well lit at night. Sites are well off road so very quiet at night. Facilities include small camp kitchen, barbecue area, recreation room, swimming pool, good book exchange at reception. Fresh fruit and vegetable stall restocked daily, honour system and very good prices, free range eggs available from reception. Gas bottles filled, but no toilet dump site – have to use dump point at caravan facility 2 kms closer to town. No public phone, but good mobile signal. Bakery and IGA supermarket 10 minutes stroll away. Weekly craft group, bingo on Thursday evenings, sausage sizzle Sunday nights. Price of $20 2A for powered site excellent value, seventh night free, but power is metered and paid for separately when leaving. Suitable for short or long stay.
Likes: Friendly and sociable park as most occupants have same things in common.
Dislikes: Piped radio in amenities, but thankfully kept at low volume; no dump point.

Much smaller park than the Carnarvon Caravan Park probably older but in good nick, we enjoyed it more but were 3 weeks later in the season & all the tourists had cleared out 1st week September. Plenty of room & we had open choice in the park & no neighbours, but that was timing. Some playground equipment.

Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon). Noisy, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. No playground, no pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: Good sites & handy to town.
Dislikes: Very poor showers. The showers were prefabricated plastic cubicles - the surface was pealing off and they were not scrubbed out. The stained pealing pieces blocked the drain and you ended up paddling in water.

Dalwallinu Caravan Park, Dalwallinu
Clich Road. Through town of Dalwallinu to the northern end of town via the Great Northern Highway to Wubin and turn right 1 km out of the town, eastern side of the Great Northern Highway. Park owned by local shire council. Ph: 08 9661 1253. Dogs on lead are permitted.
Caretaker on site. This is an extremely well maintained council park with two amenity blocks, one of which is brand new and the second is currently under renovation. As the one amenity block was closed the open block was unable to cope at peak times but presumably once the second one is completed there should be no problems. We paid $17.50 for 2 per night. The whole park is gravel sites with tarred roads. The camp kitchen is in excellent condition but with basic cooking facilities. You are allowed to wash your car at your site. Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, very good value for money. Amenities are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, disabled facilities, dump point. Peaceful, open and roomy, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere, no permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for a few days, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Dislikes: Although the one amenity block is brand new it is a pity that people who design these blocks don't use them or consult with people who do. The showers in this amenity block only has one hook on the back of the doors which makes it difficult to hang everything up and with the shower head directly opposite the dry area and with no curtain, the result is the dry area gets very wet.
Parking: Outside reception
Added Touches: Wood is provided for an open fire adjacent to the camp kitchen.
Local Information: Wild flowers and wreath flowers in season.
Roads: Good

Manager's name is Trish. Very pleased with the layout of this council run park. We stayed for two weeks and enjoyed every moment of our stay. We certainly do recommend this park for a few days stay or a couple of weeks. We found it central to all areas from Wongan Hills south through to Wubin, Paynes Find or Mullewa to view some of the best Wildflowers in the months of September through to November. Staff were very friendly, helpful and obliging. Manager Trish living on site in house at front entry. Staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, very good value for money ($20 2A per night powered). Two amenity blocks, one amenity block is new, amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were very clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, average sized sites, large sites, sites are level with blue metal base and a few trees for shade, plenty of good water and power, plenty of drive through sites for large and small vans, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Blue Dolphin Caravan Park and Holiday Village, Denham
Lot 5 Hamelin Road. From great northern hwy into Denham it is on the right 500 meters from town, fishing and boat harbour. Next to BP service station. Dogs on leash. Ph: 08 9948 1385. Family Parks member.
Firstly I must say for us this park did not suit as for a lot who were there it did suit very nicely. This park was full of retirees from the south who live there for 3 to 5 months to escape the winter months down south. We did feel a little out of place. Did not see any children or younger adults at all. The site we were placed in was very small with little room to manoeuvre a van with boats, vehicles, rubbish bins, garden boxes etc in the way. Also the base was seashell with no pad. Seashell is worse than sand. It sticks to everything and can be hot on warmer days. Only a few pads and the permanent people had those. Ablution block was up on a hill and anyone with back or leg problems would have difficulty getting to them and wheel chair access is non existent. Once there its ok. For us there was no reduction for pensioners or longer stays. Staff were not seen too much but must say we were not there that much. We certainly felt like we were living in a retirement village rather than a holiday park. For people with boats and like fishing but have no children tagging along it is ok but not for us. Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was much higher than expected, poor value for money ($25 2A per night). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), secure entry. Quiet, claustrophobic park, not enough shade, too many permanents. Clean gas bbq (free), seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for overnighter, well maintained park.
Dislikes: No deductions for pensioners or longer stay. Too small and too many long term residents clogging up the roads with boats and vehicles. Park is built on a hill side and has two levels, so if you plan to walk to town then the walk back into the park which is steep, could be difficult for older people.
Parking: Car park at front.
Added Touches: Sausage sizzle but you pay.
Local Information: Shark Bay for fishing and boating. Denham town area and water front is nice area for picnics and family activities.
Roads: All main roads are good roads.

Dogs may be booked by arrangement $20 bond (for the owner). Offered Seniors discount. Bookings essential in peak period.
We stayed in an ensuite site. Park is divided into several levels, we were right at the back, which was a good position as we were reasonably sheltered from the constant wind. Good, roomy ensuite with separate shower cubicle, shower curtain, towel rail and a couple of hooks. Good shelf to unpack onto. We had an annex slab but not all sites did. Park is surfaced in crushed shell, which is better than dust. Park is right on the beach, so would be good for a family holiday. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for money ($31.50 2A, ensuite). Water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Likes: Friendly staff, well maintained, good sites for large vans, relatively quiet even during school holidays, great views from many sites, unisex ablution block was spacious and clean, very dog friendly with direct beach access to a dog friendly beach.
Dislikes: Recommend putting shade cloth or similar down on the sites - mostly shell grit which is quite hard on the feet! Glare from the shell grit can be extreme. Can be very windy, need to watch the awning/annexe.
Local Information: Spectacular world heritage area with many sights to see and great fishing.
Roads: Very good road conditions.

Friendly reception, conducted to site and helped on. A large park with great views of the ocean from some sites, but no views from others. Sites are grouped in separate areas and at different heights on a hillside above the beach, easily accessed and level. Whole park is surfaced with shell grit, but dust not a problem, some sites partly shaded. Some sites had concrete annexe pads, and there are a few ensuite sites at the back of the park. Desalinated water is good for drinking, bore water taps also located through park. Three amenities blocks, clean and well maintained, good hot water, adequate for numbers. One block is divided into individual unisex suites. Facilities include free gas barbecues, camp kitchen, dump point, fish cleaning tables. Supermarket across road, ten minutes walk to town centre. Price of $32 2A for powered site before discount average for area. Suitable for short or long stay.

Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Clean, wonderful location and scenery, very close to the beach, very friendly and helpful staff. Nice new amenity block near our site, but could get busy at peak times.
Dislikes: No grass, the park is paved with tiny white shells which are dusty and would defy the strongest pair of Wayfarers for glare. No playground although beach nearby. Only 1 permanent that I saw, lots of grey nomads who were somewhat grumpy with the kids at times (not ours). The site was very narrow, and whilst we visited in winter so shade was not a problem, I could imagine that it would be in the height of summer.
Parking: No.
Added Touches: Fish cleaning tables provided, good office with plenty of tourist information and booking service. Fund raising coffee morning and raffle.
Local Information: A beautiful location but very remote. Denham is a small town but with all the basic amenities. A good base to explore the wonderful national parks nearby.
Roads: Roads into Denham good, and to Monkey Mia also, but once in the national parks expect some hair raising off road driving.

Likes: 10 steps from the beach. The amenities on the lower level near the office were very clean.
Dislikes: Even with sunglasses on we found it extremely difficult to see, because of the glare from the shells. Trees at 31 partially covered the view, so suggest ask for a site with a view & go up to the next level next time, 110 to 127. No liquid soap in the amenities.
Parking: At reception on the left.
Added Touches: Seniors' discount. Fish cleaning facilities.
Local Information: Visit Monkey Mia (once in a life time ); I loved it, husband hated it. Catamaran ride excellent. Both loved Eagle Bluff on the way out to the highway, van parking and boardwalk, good panoramic photo op. Gravel road, short distance, ok for 2 wheel drive. Managers Allan & Lorraine Tinker. This park is absolutely unique, although a fairly basic bush park. Very friendly reception and management, amenities, facilities and walks explained. Sites are roomy and well separated, set in light bushland with patchy shade, gravel and with no annexe pads. A few were drive-through. Power, good potable water and sullage to most sites, although water pressure was low as the capacity of the park's bore was limited. Not well lit at night. Amenities were small but well maintained and appeared adequate for numbers. Hot water pressure and temperature was variable depending on number of people using showers at any one time. Other facilities include camp kitchen, laundry, public telephone (no mobile signal) and well stocked wildflower souvenir shop. Milk and frozen bread available but no other groceries.. Meals available at night. What makes the park unique are Allan's daily 4.30pm wildflower walk, lasting until 6.45pm and ending with a fascinating look at plants through a microscope and projection screen. Walks are free but donation appreciated. Allan also conducts a 4WD tagalong tour three mornings a week which is fantastic and great value for $27.50pp. Despite distance off highway some traffic noise evident, especially during the day, but not a problem. Property has several self-guided wildflower walks that can be taken, or you can ramble at will. Price of $26 2A for powered site excellent value. Appears very run down and needs a lot of money and TLC poured into it, certainly well below usual Big4 standard. Reception was friendly, tourist advice offered but no offer to put us on site. Sites were level but very variable, some small, others large, and scattered around park mixed in with dilapidated on-site vans and permanents. Some sites had good shade, others none at all. Newer sites for long vans were at back of park and of a better standard, with full concrete pads capable of taking van, annexe and car, but no shade. Other sites had pads or were rough grass. Good water pressure, sullage points. Roads were gravel. Two ablution blocks, well maintained, showers with curtains, mop supplied, hand washing and drying facilities, good hot water. Could be inadequate during summer holiday periods. Three laundries, one used for park laundry in mornings. Well stocked shop at reception. Other facilities include pool, playground, TV and games room, camp kitchen, barbecue area (coin operated), dump point. Public telephones, Internet access at reception. Five minutes walk to a rather unattractive beach, safe for swimming. Price of $26 2A for powered site before discount reasonable. Suitable for overnight or short stay, its main advantage is closeness to city centre, 5 minutes drive away.

Expensive for the bad conditions; we were glad to leave. Friendly staff, average staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice. Price was as expected, poor value for money ($154 2A per week powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, basic rec room, dump point. Noisy, open & roomy park, not enough shade. Clean gas bbq (pay). Basic playground in average condition. Clean pool is open to sun, kid-safe pool area. Dislikes: Is extremely dirty, red dust is swept around everywhere and with the real high winds here it was very bad. No apology for the mess everywhere, they are doing lots of building.

This has got to be the most disjointed park we have been in. It is very old although there appears to be a lot of building of cabins and possibly some more powered sites but they need to do a serious upgrade of the amenities, which are old and very tired. The whole park needs a good clean up and work is obviously not something that is done very often. Friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($18 2A per night powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, separate bathroom. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs, drive-through sites, and adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, basic rec room, kiosk, dump point. Quiet, open and roomy, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Too many permanents. Clean UC gas bbq ($1), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in average condition. Clean pool is open to sun, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided Suitable for a few days, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Close to town and surrounds
Dislikes: Not only were we not shown to our site we were not even given our site number just a dot on the map and told that it was next to the toilet block. Only after we had set up did we discover that the site number was printed on the invoice - not something you would normally look for.
Parking: Outside reception

Drummond Cove Holiday Park, Geraldton
Situated on the North-West Coastal Highway, about 15 min drive north of Geraldton. A few kilometres past the 440 Roadhouse. Ph: 08 9938 2524 or 1800 992 524. Top Tourist member. Dogs on leash.
Amenities were excellent, with shower curtains, a shelf accessed from the wet area and a dry area that stayed dry with bench and hooks. No soap, towel or plugs provided in basin area. Amenities doors locked, but only one key provided per site, so you either had to go for a shower at the same time or someone had to wait until the other came back. Other parts of the park looked a bit tired, some lines down on the clothes line and most globes blown in lights around barbecue area. Most sites were quite large, but park is on a big slope at the top of a hill, we just about had the A-frame on the ground trying to get the van level. There weren't any drive through sites that we could find, not sure what the previous review was referring to. Park is on the highway so there was some truck noise, not too bad for us but probably worse for sites at the front of the park. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice. Price was as expected, good value for money ($25.20 2A per night, powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, good night lighting, very few concrete annex slabs, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, a few permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground. Clean pool is open to the sun, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Added Touches: Bird aviary next to barbecue area with lots of budgies and parakeets.
Local Information: Chapman Valley winery about 40km from town along Chapman Valley Road had good wine and lovely outdoor lunch setting with excellent food. Would have thought walk to beach was closer to 400m than 200, and it would be uphill all the way back. Park is a good 10 minutes drive from town.

An average park, in a good location on the beach. The park has quite a few permanents but still has plenty of tourist sites. It's a good place to stay to visit Geraldton and the area. There is no pool, the rec room has a table tennis table, a pool table and heaps of electronic arcade games. There is also a TV room. The playground consists of two swings and two large tractor tyres set in a large sandpit. The laundry and amenities are very well kept and in very good condition. There is no grass in the park and with the watering restrictions the park is looking at alternatives to grass on the sites. Do not leave any reading materials in the laundry as you would in other parks. The cleaner dumps everything in the rubbish bin each morning. If you wish to leave or swap books or magazines, go to the rec room. Good management, friendly management. Reasonable value for money. Very good amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, close to sites, were clean, were in good condition, water pressure was okay, there was adequate hot water. Poor sites, adequate number of tourist sites, sites were level, lighting at night was adequate, the site size was okay, annexe slabs were available, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Laundry, rec room, dump point, security entry to park. Park atmosphere was okay, quiet, open and roomy park. UC bbq. Suitable for a few days.
Likes: Soap and hand dryers supplied in bathroom.
Dislikes: There was green nylon mesh on our sites where the cars park. It was loose and very definitely a tripping hazard. The trees we were parked under dropped nuts of some sort on to our roof all night.
Parking: To book in, drive into the entrance. There are two drop gates at the entrance. One is for people booking in only and one for people coming and going through the park. Residents leaving the park must give way to people coming into the park.

Fairly big sites, mostly coarse clean sand, levelled. Plenty of shade. Some sites are raised by 30-40cm and pushing a low lying caravan up the slightly steep verge can become interesting (needed three attempts with a 30-year old Viscount). Nice shaded gazebo-like area with two gas BBQ's (bring $1 coins) and plenty of seating/tables. Camp kitchen ok for cleaning the dishes, not so well equipped for cooking. Two large fridges in camper kitchen to store your food (at your own risk). Good for families with kids, very safe. Pool (standard 9m) and smallish tennis courts (x2, hard surface). Two play areas for kids, plus a small cricket pitching area. Stayed for 6 nights. Amenities very good and clean. Substantial amount of permanents. Shop with pretty good selection of basic food and day-to-day items. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Hutt River Caravan Facility, Hutt River Province
Ogilvie West Road. Travel 35 km south of Kalbarri then turn left and follow the signs for 40 km inland on good gravel roads. Managers Name Prince Leonard.
UPDATED REPORT NEEDED

Stayed 1 day, $10.00 p/n powered site. What can we say? Prince Leonard has got a little more tired and the place has accumulated more rubbish. Though technically not a caravan or tourist park, Hutt River Province could do with a good clean-up, especially as they get lots of overseas visitors and tourist buses. The amenity block, one toilet and one shower each, have never seen a mop nor detergent. Having said that, it is an interesting place to visit and Prince Leonard is a very interesting man with a lot to tell. He came to our van and shared a beer with us, and we had a wonderful conversation. Government House and the post office are clean, and Prince Leonard will stamp your passport or visa when you visit. There are on-site vans to rent, but I looked into one and heaved. But pig shooters came late that night and stayed in the vans. Obviously not too fussy where they lay their heads. I agree with what someone said, "A good place to visit and very interesting gentleman, but make it a day trip".

Reasonably nice park with a good view of the river from the sites at the front of the park. Three amenities blocks, two very old blocks with only 2 toilets and 2 showers in each. These old blocks are in need of repair. There is a bigger and newer block in the park that has 6 toilets and 6 showers. This block is in better condition. The amenities were mostly very messy while we were at the park, it was however school holidays and there were lots of children about who were not supervised in the amenities. The sites at the front of the park are a long way from the amenities. The sites are not well defined in the area where we were. There was a lot of guesswork trying to work out where to put your caravan/tent. Some of the sites in the park seemed to have shade cloth areas on them but I did not see any with concrete slabs. There are not enough washing machines for a park of this size, in peak times they would not cope. The park is within walking distance to shops. While we were staying our site was double booked as was one further down the same line the next day. No help was offered finding our site, nor was any park layout or facilities explained. Was left up to us to find our way around. Parts of the park were quite shaded and other parts have no shade at all. Friendly staff. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($27.00 2A per night). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were dirty, condition is poor, water pressure is good. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, average sized sites, adequate taps close by. Poor laundry, dump point, family/friendly atmosphere. Basic playground in average condition. Clean pool, kid-safe pool area.
Local Information: Kalbarri is a pretty place, great for water sports. Has good playground facilities on the foreshore of the Murchison River. Good beaches along the river, which are great for the kids. There are also a lot of places for the fisherman here.

Likes: Good river views. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good atmosphere at Thursday night bbq. Fairly quiet and relaxing.
Dislikes: Didn't matter how hard you tried you couldn't keep your clothes dry in shower cubicles (had to hang everything over door). Water temperature in showers fluctuated. 2 showers and 2 toilets in male ablutions (park was only about half full and still had to queue on occasions). Hard to get vans into some sites with terraced walls limiting turning space. Long walk to ablutions from some sites. Found water quality poor.
Added Touches: Bbq on Thursday nights (small cost). Fish cleaning facilities. camp kitchen with large TV, fridges etc. Good bbq facilities.

Kalbarri Tudor Caravan Park, Kalbarri
10 Porter Street, behind newsagency group of shops. 400 mts east of post office. 500m to beach, 2 kms to golf, bowls and tennis. 50m to bike hire & mini putt. Ph: 08 9937 1077 or 1800 681077. Family Parks member. No pets allowed.
We had a nice large grass site, but a lot of the park was sandy. Not many sites were level; the park had a slope running towards the beach. Good showers with a high bench, shower curtains and several hooks. We were there in school holidays and there were at least a million kids, it is obviously a popular family destination. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, reasonable value for money ($29.70 2A per night, powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, good night lighting, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, basic rec room, good camp kitchen, dump point. Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC electric bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground. Clean pool is open to sun, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Added Touches: Fish cleaning table with newspapers provided for wrapping fish waste.

$23 per night with Family Parks discount. Signposted from main road and about 500 metres from shops and pub. Sites varied from dirt to grass to concrete slabs depending on how lucky you were. Unfortunately it wasn't our lucky day and we got a sloping dirt site as far away from the toilet block as possible. Toilet block was adequate with large cubicles. Staff were not overly friendly – perhaps too busy to smile? Small parking area at office for one car and caravan although road outside is wide enough to provide ample parking. Disliked – narrow entrance road into park is only wide enough for one vehicle at a time so passing cars and caravans had to dodge one another. Don't bother eating at Findlays Fish Place. Dusty and dirty eating area, rude staff, toilet rolls on tables for napkins.

Friendly reception, information offered. Very shady park, most sites on smallish size, mainly sand on which green matting has been laid in lieu of annexe pads. A few on-suite sites available. Some sites difficult to access. Good drinking water to sites, good pressure. Two amenity blocks, level of cleanliness good. Showers have curtains and shelf for toilet articles, good hot water, water pressure good in some cubicles, uneven in others. Soap, hand drier and mop supplied. Amenities generally adequate for numbers, although with only 6 men's toilets over two blocks some waiting required in morning peak. Could be really stretched in school holidays. Other facilities include pool, children's playground, gas barbecues, camp kitchen and TV room. Toilet dump point in central amenity block, labelled the "Slopper Hopper". Public phone at reception, good signal for mobiles. Wireless Internet at $4 hour was found to have good speed. Price of $29 2A before discount for powered site reasonable for what park offers. Good for short and longer stays.
Likes: Close to town centre and shops. Quiet location.
Local Information: Autogas can be purchased in the Industrial Estate 1K behind the park for 8c less than the BP service station in the town; cash only, often closed in the afternoon.

A shady park with smallish sites. No sign of management, only staff. Amenities so-so, with very poor water pressure. We were there during school holidays and the toilet cleaning wasn't up to the task. Male children using ladies loo left smells not eliminated after cleaning. Unhygienic chute system for disposal of sanitary products allowed smells to re-enter cubicles, especially as they weren't emptied often enough. Our site had quite a slope on it and others also needed chocks. Despite this, and because we love Kalbarri, we stayed a week to see out the school holidays. Everyone told us this was the best park, and it has a good feel, but they need to step up their spot cleaning during peak periods. Water quality is blissfully good after Lancelin and Port Denison. Average management, friendly management. Reasonable value for money. Average sites, adequate number of tourist sites, hard to negotiate in to/out of site, adequate taps close by. Laundry, good camp kitchen. Good atmosphere to park, shady park, family-friendly park. Good clean pool. Suitable for a week or more, the park can be considered kid-safe.
Likes: Location in Kalbarri, shade.
Dislikes: Smelly ladies toilets. We were very close to the well-used kids' playground and it was pretty noisy - the price of school holidays, I guess.
Local Information: Kalbarri has an interesting National Park and connections to the 1629 mutiny and wreck of the Batavia on the Abrolhos Islands. The Grass Tree is an very good restaurant, and we also like the Black Rock Cafe. Everyone knows about Finlay's BBQ, where you share the table with cats and have a great time.

Convenient central location. Owner managers Anthony and Dianne Allen friendly and efficient. Layout explained and approach to difficult site suggested. Medium sized park with established trees, interesting arrangement and mixture of van/camping spots and park cabins. Sealed access roads. Large and medium level sites on partially grassed sand, some with small concrete annex pads, majority with extensive fixed green gauze matting. Most are separated from neighbours by a bit of garden. Power and water close, most with no sullage. Two amenities blocks. One older style, clean, but shower cubicles small. Newer block consists of 8 unisex ensuite style bathrooms, spacious and clean. Just adequate in numbers. Strong hot water. Power points. Shower curtains. 2 laundries, adequate line space. Well equipped flyscreened camp kitchen with TV, several gas bbqs and covered picnic tables scattered around park, fish cleaning facilities. Fenced, well equipped playground towards front of park. Manager's name is Anthony & Diane Allen. This is a large and very disjointed park right in the middle of town. Quite a lot of the sites not only face the road but have direct access to the road therefore security could be a problem. The amenities consist of two types, one is the conventional bank of toilets and showers, and the other is a bank of totally self-contained unisex shower/toilet/basin. We were not given any information on the park or park map so we had difficulty in finding out what facilities the park offered. Friendly staff, no complaints. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($22 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. A pleasant little park with level gravel sites and shady ghost gums. Only 8 powered sites and about 20 unpowered. There are a number of cabins and also grassed tent sites. Cost was reasonable, considering the location, at $23 for a powered site or $7 pp unpowered. Power was 24hour and although the generator ran continuously it was not intrusive. Plenty of birdlife around. Fairly new ablution block with ensuite type facilities i.e. toilet shower and basin in same cubicle. A good overnighter with meals available and a pub to boot. Good management, friendly management. Reasonable value for money. Good amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, were clean, water pressure was okay, there was adequate hot water. Very disappointed with this stay. No help with where to go. No grass sites just all dirt. All pad sites but dusty. Ablution block old building and not adequate. Was clean but old. Our main problem was the security as we had a intruder at 4am in the morning trying to brake in due to lack of security. No lighting at night. Would not return to this park at all unless the security was upgraded substantially. There was a key deposit of around $10 to top off a wonderful stay. Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected ($25 2A per night powered). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. UPDATED REPORT NEEDED

Manager's name is Candy & Fin. Mt Augustus is the largest rock in the world and is more than twice the size of Uluru. Until January 2006 the resort was run by the Mt Augustus station and unfortunately was allowed to run down. The park is now leased and Candy & Fin have had their work cut out trying to get the park up to an acceptable level, not helped by the fact that they had three cyclones through in the early part of this year. The powered sites are in a grassed area and you park where you want. Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($26 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, all level sites, good night lighting, large sites. Basic laundry, kiosk. Peaceful, open and roomy, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere. No permanents. Dirty UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for a few days, suitable for families, well-maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Close to the mount and has a lovely outback landscape and well worth visiting and doing the walks.
Dislikes: The one toilet block is badly in need of repair, the ladies showers were almost unusable.
Added Touches: Camp fires allowed at all sites.
Local Information: Mt Augustus walks. The resort has a licensed bar and dining room which serves home style cooked meals and takeaway snacks everyday. Fuel is also available.
Roads: The road to Mt Augustus is dirt and depending on the time of year depends on the condition, however when we travelled it was excellent and there were a large number of conventional caravans and two wheel drive vehicles at the resort. After heavy rains it is possible that the road is closed to all traffic, check road conditions before setting out. The best time to visit is May to September.

Easy to find, on the main street, next to the Shire Offices. Sites are mainly drive-thru and surface is gravel, each site separated by fairly mature trees. There are a few sites with concrete pads and a lawn area for camping. There is a new camp-kitchen with stainless steel benches and the usual other things. There are new BBQs next to the camp kitchen and also near the laundry. At $18 per night (2A), good value. Management are friendly. Showers are hot and strong, there are shower curtains but the dressing area is fairly small. A possible negative is that there is a key for entry into the laundry and, from there, the men's is one side and the ladies' is the other. No doors on these. A pleasant place to stay, overnight or longer.

$17.50 per night. This is a good basic country park. The toilet block had two toilets and two showers in each section and was kept extremely clean. Park was full but toilet facilities seemed adequate. Most sites were on bitumen with two parking bays – one for the caravan and one for the car, with a grassed area separating the sites. Well signposted upon arrival in town. Mullewa is noted for its wildflowers and especially the wreath flowers which unfortunately this year were a little late in blooming so we missed them. If you are here in the wildflower season, we would advise that you get in early as the park is very popular and you can't book. There is no one in attendance at the park and payment is made at the Ampol Yarrumba Service Station as you come into town. The staff at the petrol station were very pleasant and helpful. Having made your payment, head up to the park and find a site. The park is extremely well laid out and the whole park is well maintained. The tourist bureau which is just across the road from the petrol station was also very helpful and knowledgeable. Mullewa is a very small town and has very few shops so would suggest you stock up on all groceries in Geraldton or Northampton. Price was lower than expected, very good value for money ($17.50 per night 2A, powered, peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water - but not if busy, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, all level sites, good night lighting, large sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, dump point. Peaceful, open and roomy, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere, no permanents. Dirty electric bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for a few days, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Well laid out and close to town. The laundry was only $2.00 a load which is one of the cheapest we have found.
Parking: Anywhere you can find outside the petrol station.
Local Information: Wildflowers in abundance. The Catholic Church and museum is well worth visiting, with free tours all day during the tourist season.
Roads: Good.

Nanga Bay Resort, Nanga
Nanga Road. 3 km off the Denham/Shark Bay road and 50 kms south of Denham. Ph: 08 9948 3992. Dogs allowed.
Manager's name is Ray Moulten. This park has all the infrastructure and position to be a 5 star park but unfortunately it is severely lacking in TLC and hard work. The whole resort is sand and there is not a blade of grass to be seen. There are 80 powered sites, 30 unpowered sites and numerous types of cabins to suit all pockets. In the past this was obviously a 5 star resort but owners/management have either run out of cash or impetus as the whole resort is starting to show very obvious signs of deterioration. However, some of the features like the main swimming pool, and larger cabins are still in pristine condition, but other sections such as the artesian spa, toilets, showers, camp kitchen and bbqs for the campers are in dire need of restoration/renovation. Lunch and dinner can be ordered from reception for take-away or eat in. The kiosk/shop has milk and the very basic groceries. Tap water is from the bore and not suitable for drinking, but drinking water is available from various tanks throughout the resort. Diesel and petrol is also available. Friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, poor value for money ($30 2A per night, powered, peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, poor water quality, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point. Peaceful, open and roomy, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere, no permanents. Dirty UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in average condition. Clean pool is open to the sun, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Nice large swimming pool and spacious van sites.
Dislikes: The toilets run out of paper very quickly and is not replaced until the next day. The soap dispenser in the gents was empty for our entire stay (4 days).
Parking: Outside reception
Local Information: Fishing and convenient for Shark Bay, Denham, Monkey Mia and Hamelin Bay.
Roads: Good.

Dogs allowed, none enforced. Caravaners stated this park had been run down over the past couple of years and seems to have been bought by the WA Govt. We were self contained so the facilities were not so important to us and we enjoyed 3 days here. A little pricey at $30. Water is salty bore so drained our system each night. Average management, friendly management. Poor value for money. Poor amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, close to sites, were clean. Adequate number of tourist sites, sites were level, lighting at night was adequate, the site size was okay, poor water quality, adequate taps close by. Good camp kitchen, van parking by management. Park atmosphere was okay, quiet, open and roomy park. Basic playground. Good clean pool, kid-safe pool area, seating around the pool was provided. Suitable for a few days.
Likes: Close to beach. Large Sites. Artesian Spa. Good toilet paper & hand towel.
Dislikes: Showers were basic and need upgrade.
Parking: Plenty of space.
Local Information: Need a boat to fish.
Roads: Good made road.

Take your own water as they are only on a bore. Fresh water is 50km away in Denham. This was not disclosed on the website, when we booked over the phone, or when they sent out the receipt for the deposit. They do not stock fresh milk or bread - only choc milk and cream. Bread and milk can be bought frozen. Had a cold shower 3 out of 5 nights for the first 3 minutes as that is how long it took for the hot water to come through. Dogs are allowed (we had someone else's dog running over our site off lead for most of the stay) however this is not disclosed on the website either. The camp kitchen is nothing short of disgusting. There is no hot water in the kitchen. In the camp kitchen, the benches, bbq and sink are covered in bird droppings, as was the laundry located near the office. The camp kitchen has a sign stating that it is a self cleaning area however guests should not be required to clean bird droppings off the sink before being able to wash dishes, or clean the BBQ to remove all the grease. When we first turned up the office stank of cigarette smoke as if someone had been smoking inside, someone's car was parked on our site and their dog was running around as if the site belonged to him. We didn't use or see the pool but apparently all the children were kicked out of the pool because they were being too noisy and one of the motel guests complained (this was the school holidays). Leave your fishing rods at home unless you have a boat or a 4WD to travel the tracks to the coast, otherwise it's a 50km drive to Denham. Beach fishing at Nanga doesn't exist. They have a sign up on the toilets stating that you can catch fish from the beach if you take a 3.5km walk. The flies were terrible, it could be eased if cleaning occurred. The only visible staff member we could see was always on the site next to us drinking beer. Average staff friendliness ($203 2A 2C per week powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were dirty, condition is poor, water pressure is bad, there was inadequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, poor water quality, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Poor laundry, no rec room, kiosk. Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade. Dogs on leash. This is not enforced. If we'd known dogs were allowed we would have stayed at Denham and been closer to the facilities. Dirty UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting.
Likes: Park was very spacious and there were no trouble makers.
Dislikes: Filthy and disgusting facilities. I would only recommend this park if you are entirely self sufficient and have no need to use the showers or camp kitchen (toilets were reasonable) and if a long drive to obtain fresh water, milk and supplies is to your liking.
Added Touches: Fish can be cleaned on the beach.
Local Information: All the attractions are at least 50km away.

Park probably caters more to fly in/fly out mining staff than travellers, but there are a reasonable number of sites. Didn't hear any noise or have any issues with the mining staff. Park has made an attempt to grow some grass, and given the dryness of the area they have reasonable success. Average staff friendliness, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($30 2A per night, powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Manager's name is Betty & Wayne Collison. This park has a RAC 4 star rating. It is nowhere close to a 4 star park and there are certainly nowhere the 100 tourist sites as advertised. There is an area around the amenity block, which caters for tourists and by 5 in the evening is quite full. This area could probably hold 40 at a squeeze. Newman being a large mining town the park basically caters for mine workers so there is a large amount of permanent cabins and single quarters. Friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, poor value for money ($25 2A per night powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, small sites, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, disabled facilities, dump point. Quiet, open and roomy, not enough shade. Too many permanents. Clean UC electric bbq ($1), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a few days, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: There are three shade cloth structures and if you are here early enough you may be lucky to be able to park your van next door to one.
Dislikes: The whole park is badly in need of a lot of TLC. There are no defined sites so people tend to park where they can, as management do not assist in parking. The mineworkers leave between 5.30 to 6.00 in the morning and there is a continuous stream of diesel vehicles leaving the area.

Easy to find, take the southern entry to the town from the Highway and it is on your left about a kilometre along. Kalgan Drive. Ph: 08 9175 1484.
A big park with big sites and the bitumened roadways are wider than most Australian highways. There is a nice clean pool but no chairs or lounges around it, a camp kitchen, BBQ areas and wifi internet. Staff are friendly and helpful. The main amenity block has four shower rooms for each gender, the rooms are about 10 feet square and contain shower, toilet and wash-basin. The only negative is that the cleaning of the amenities leaves a bit to be desired, they are cleaned but only just. Very quiet in the evening and night but, from 5am onwards the many mine workers are heading off to work so, if you're a light sleeper you will probably wake. Suitable for overnight or a longer stay.

Give this one a miss, very untidy and poorly maintained, uneven red dirt sites and unfriendly management. After deciding not to stay in the park we proceeded to have our evening meal in the truck bay opposite with all the truckies before moving on. We were hassled twice in about 1 hour by staff from the tavern demanding that we move into their caravan park or move on.
