Barn Hill Beach Side Station Stay, Barn Hill
Signposted turn west off highway 195 km north Sandfire Roadhouse, 95 km south Roebuck Plains Roadhouse. 120 kms south of Broome and 9 kms off the Great Northern Highway. Ph: 08 9192 4975. Dogs on leash. Closed Nov to April.
Beachside camping ground, family run, on cattle station. 10 km good dirt road, minor corrugations. Powered and unpowered, average to large, flat sites in bushland setting, some shade under established trees, some sites right on the edge of low cliffs above the beach. Natural red earth access tracks, some grass, most sites pretty bare part way through the season. A bit dusty when the wind gets up. Water, sullage and power close to most sites; leads and hoses can be borrowed. Care needs to be taken not to overload power circuits - 1000W max. Several amenities blocks, clean, quite satisfactory but definitely and deliberately rustic. Flush toilets. Hot water by fuel heater stoked by the staff and interested (pyromaniac male) guests. Hot showers certainly available for all but you have to pick your time. 4 washing machines with "name on a list" queuing system. Night lighting in amenities. Small kiosk open limited hours, home baked cakes available daily for morning tea. $15 per head dinner with live music on Sunday evenings prepared by the station, served on common grassy area. 2 large wood fired bbq plates. Wednesday BYO everything communal bbq. Small lawn for bowls. Stairs down to white sandy beaches stretching for miles north and south. Very interesting rock formations, fishing from rocks and beach, swimming safe. Vehicles can be driven onto beach only for launching boats. At $22 (2A powered) very good value. Friendly fellow campers many of whom return annually for long stays. Sites available daily at time of our stay. Very much depends on why you would be wanting to come here.

If you are looking for a standard caravan park give this a miss. However if you are looking for something different then you would probably enjoy your stay here. When we arrived the park was absolutely full as there are a lot of people who stay here for 3-6 months. The park is situated on the Kimberley Cattle Station and overlooks the Indian Ocean and is an easy walk down to a super beach with extraordinary rock formations. One set of amenities does not have a roof and the lighting is extremely poor, making it very difficult to shower at night. Friendly staff, no complaints. Price was lower than expected, reasonable value for money ($22 2A per night powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is bad, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, kiosk. Quiet, open and roomy, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere. No permanents. No bbqs, no playground, no pool. Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Close to the beach. Trevor liked the casual atmosphere but I found it very clicky.
Dislikes: Too much dirt around the sites. You can't use any electrical item with an element - kettle, oven, toaster, microwave, hairdryer, iron, sandwich maker, electric hotplate, electric frying pan. Not allowed to use any of the station roads and you will be asked to leave the park if you do, in fact there was a very long list of things you were not allowed to do.
Added Touches: Pizza can be ordered any night made at the homestead and are very nice. Regular Sunday roast dinners, BYO BBQ nights on Wednesday and BYO BBQ breakfast on Sunday mornings. They also have a very nice bowling green and anyone is allowed to play.
Local Information: Fishing and walking on the beach.
Roads: 9 kms of very corrugated dirt from the main road

Broome Caravan Park, Broome
Wattle Drive, off Great Northern Highway, 4kms south of Post Office. Ph: 08 9192 1776 or 1800 441 200. No pets allowed.
Friendly staff, staff helped us at the site. Price was as expected, good value for money ($42 2A 2C per night, powered, shoulder season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, very few concrete annex slabs, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, kiosk, car wash, dump point. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean gas bbq (free), dismal bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting. No playground. Clean pool is open to sun, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Fantastic Pool area, close enough to town but far enough away to enjoy peace & quiet (other than speedway night).
Dislikes: No sullage, booked a large site but not enough tree clearance so had to choose another site.
Parking: Parking at reception
Added Touches: Fish cleaning table

$34 per night. Only sign is the roads department sign to a caravan park. Park is the first park on reaching Broome and is on a side road parallel to highway but foliage has hidden any signage on the park. Sites vary between large and very large and the park is well suited to larger caravans, buses, fifth wheelers etc. Roads were wide and made backing in so much easier. Not much grass but lots of trees for shade. The staff were friendly and helpful. The large pool and surrounding area with chairs etc is most attractive and enjoyable in the hot weather. The park is about 4 km to either Chinatown or Cable Beach.

Not a good start, arrived to find our booked site had been given to someone else by mistake. Parked in overflow area within the park, ended up with a better site. Well-grassed, nice shady trees, sealed roads. Clean amenities, very busy place. Stayed 2 nights.

Cable Beach Caravan Park, Broome
Millington Road, Cable Beach. Head towards Cable Beach, then turn right. 7 km north-west of post office. Turn right just after Malcolm Douglas crocodile farm then first left into Millington Road, park is a few hundred metres down the road. Ph: 08 9192 2066. No pets allowed.
This is a huge park, well over 550 sites. It is within walking distance to Cable Beach, but if you are in sites 300 and above add another few minutes to the walk. Friendly staff, average staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, poor value for money ($41.50 2A per night, peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, concrete annex slabs to some sites, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point, secure entry. Noisy, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, too many permanents. Clean UC bbq. Basic playground in average condition. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Likes: Closeness to cable beach
Dislikes: The way people are jammed in. Some tent sites were so small the campers had to sit on the road gutter as there was nowhere else. We had at one stage a small mobile home next to us that was so close they could not open their door on one side. The permanents mostly worked shifts and came and went at all hours. On their days off they washed their huge boats on the narrow interior roads. Not enough room to park your car on your site. Next time we will look for a less crowded park.
Parking: There is room for only one big rig at reception but there is space on the road outside.
Added Touches: Very basic fish cleaning area.

Palm Grove Caravan Resort, Broome
Corner Murray and Cable Beach Roads, Cable Beach. Turn right at police station and then follow the caravan park signs. Ph: 08 9192 3336 or 1800 803 336. Top Tourist member. No dogs.
We booked our site in February 2009. All confirmed by park, including the size of our camper trailer. On arrival it appeared that they had lost our booking somewhere and then we found ourselves on a "site" which did not appear on their map and which we were advised by the permanent next door was only used as a site in peak season. Had to manhandle camper by hand to get it in, crusher dust site made it difficult. Long distance to power. No water access. Difficult parking vehicle but we got by with co-operation of our neighbours. When challenged on the site we were advised that it was peak season (must admit that one of the staff did say later that she was embarrassed by what they had done). Attitude was take it or leave it which is not really an option in Broome in July so we were stuck with it. Very crowed park, every available space that would fit something was being used. Would not recommend the place in a fit in the peak season. Average staff friendliness, bad staff response to complaints. Price was as expected, poor value for money. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Inadequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, poor night lighting, small sites, shade to some sites, hard to negotiate into site. Basic laundry. Peaceful, claustrophobic park.
Dislikes: New meaning to stacking them in: basically greed during the peak season

Average staff friendliness, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($190 A1 C1 per night cabin). Amenities were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, mostly level sites, good night lighting. Good laundry, no rec room, kiosk. Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Close to Cable Beach.
Dislikes: Decent 10min drive into Broome. Mini golf was advertised as a feature of the park but on arriving we discovered park patrons had to pay just like the general public.
Local Information: Chinese & Japanese Cemeteries, Gantheaume Point, Giant Tides Photographic Exhibition, Shinju Matsuri Festival, Staircase to the Moon, Streeters Jetty (lookout for the myriads of tiny crabs) & Sun Pictures Outdoor Cinema to name just a few.

Likes: Cul de sacs made everything quiet and secluded. Proximity to Cable Beach.
Dislikes: A 10min drive into central Broome. Mini golf was advertised but not free as in other parks and at $17 for 2A 1C for 9 holes was quite expensive.
Local Information: You could easily spend a month here as there is so much to do - Gantheaume Point for dinosaur footprints at low tide, Giant Tides photographic exhibition, Shinju Matsuri Festival, Staircase To The Moon, Streeters Jetty for the crabs & Sun Pictures Outdoor Cinema.

Roebuck Bay Caravan Park, Broome
Walcott Street, 2 kms South of of town centre on shores of Roebuck Bay. Ph: 08 9192 1366. No pets allowed.
Not easy to find (especially if you miss a sign like I did!). A big sprawling park next to Roebuck Bay. Sites in the tourist area, down by the bay, are large, level and grassy. The one to which we were allocated did not appear to have been mown for some time. Roadways are bitumen. Most sites are separated from their neighbours by trees. There are four drab amenity blocks and a couple of BBQ areas, one overlooking Roebuck Bay. There is also a car-washing bay. The town centre is within walking distance (About 30 minutes easy walk) or there is a regular bus service with a stop not far from the park entrance. Site fees quite high ($32 2A per night plus $3 per day if you use air conditioning). You are also asked to water and mow your site. If, like us, you are lucky enough to score a site by the water, the view is beautiful! A suitable place to stay for any length of time.

We didn't stay at this park, but feel a report on trying to be worthwhile. Some of the sites front directly onto the bay and look very nice, with grass in the front, going down to the water. It was at the end of the season when we wanted to stay and there were vacant sites everywhere. The woman in the office told us in quite dismissive terms that if we wanted a sites, we would have to line up with our van at 8:00am in the morning and if there was a vacancy, we could have it. Apparently, this is how it is done - no bookings. On looking around, we found the park to be most rundown and very untidy, with many, many permanents. The whole area looked like a squatters commune. We thought we would like a view, but it would just not have been worth it. We stayed at Cable Beach Caravan Park.

Direct access to Town Beach. Well signposted. Resident manager Graeme Campbell. Staff very busy during our stay, friendly in a gruff sort of way. Arriving vans park in designated area on street. Queues each day in season. If room is available, new arrivals are given a map and sent to check out the site to see if it suits before having to commit. Park is large and an eclectic mix; on-site renter vans with solid construction annexes and courtyard gardens, waterfront tourist van sites booked for long periods from year to year, interesting permanents, backpackers in grassy area by beachfront, not so attractive overflow in areas out the back. Sealed access roads, well established gardens, tall shady trees in older part, some shade in other sections. Sites flat, most grassed. Water, electricity and sullage close. Discrete night lighting. Sealed access roads. Three amenities blocks, adequate for the numbers, toilets fine but showers a bit tired and laundry area in need of a more thorough scrub. Potty dump. Lots of washing machines, good clothesline space. Several stations for washing up, 1 of 2 camp kitchens closed at the time of our stay. Free bbqs, picnic tables in grassy areas by waterfront. Do not be put off by the 2.5 star NRMA guide rating. The park doesn't have a pool and it isn't right on fashionable Cable Beach but we found it charming, laid back and friendly. Without a booking, we were very lucky to get in and score a fully shaded site with cooling breezes and glimpses of the turquoise water. Bonus: no dogs. Flat bicycle ride to town. Small chain supermarket/liquor store within walking distance; can recommend The Black Pearl Restaurant in same complex. Site prices vary with size and location. At $26 (2A, powered) it was very good value. Suitable for any length of stay. We have already booked for next year.

Manager Graeme Campbell. Blue signs to the end of Walcott Street on the left. I can die happy now! The views in this park were special. Front row centre on the waters edge, site 162, Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for money ($144 2A per week powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, separate bathroom, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, large sites, drive-through sites. Good laundry, late checkout allowed (up to noon), good camp kitchen, kiosk, disabled facilities, car wash, dump point. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, too many permanents. Clean free gas bbq in UC congenial bbq area, bbq area lighting, seating provided. Good playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: This park is next to the council play area and on the town beach, so is great for children under supervision. "Crocs" do still visit. Can watch the "fishos" launch their boats into the ocean at the ramp from your van.
Dislikes: When you first come into the park you come past all the very untidy "perms", but luckily the tourist sites are in front, on the beach. No rails in the invalid shower area.
Parking: Outside on the road at the designated area.
Added Touches: Graeme is a good host, stay a week and have one night free. Off season go and choose your site.
Local Information: Visit the Dinosaur foot prints and convict pool at Gantheaume Point, also look up and see the Osprey nest on the antenna in front of the house. On Town beach walk out to the sunken flying boat wrecks (everyone does). Good food at Beachfront cafe adjacent to park, can take away. Visit Malcolm Douglas Croc farm, the harbour and Cable beach. Watch staircase to the moon in season.
Date 02/2006. Park Rating 4: suitable for any length stay.

Tarangua Village Caravan Park, Broome
Corner Lullfitz and Millington Street. 300m past Cable Beach Caravan Park. Ph: 08 9193 5084. Pets allowed with conditions.
Park is within reasonable access to Cable Beech and local attractions. Managers are rude and while they advertise the park as "The only park in Broome that takes dogs" they complain when you arrive, even when you have provided advice when booking as that you have dogs and their breeds. The bullying behaviour of the male manager to us about our dogs and that we were basically a nuisance because we had them was the worst behaviour we have experienced at a caravan park. Having stayed at parks in SA, NT and other parts of WA, we were shocked and disappointed at this behaviour. Very unfriendly staff, bad staff response to complaints. Poor value for money ($34 2A per night, powered, peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is bad, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, small sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to some sites, hard to negotiate into site. Basic laundry, no rec room. Quiet, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade, no permanents. No bbqs, no playground, no pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: Handy to Cable Beech
Dislikes: Rude and spiteful managers. Treated us like we were in a prison camp and had better not mess up with our dogs.
Parking: None that were adequate.
Local Information: Broome is lovely at this time of the year with weather in the low thirties and lots of tourist attractions. Unfortunately there are not enough services available and you need to book trips etc. prior to getting there, as many will be full and you can miss out. The visitor information centre is excellent and provide a great deal of assistance with tour booking and advice.
Roads: Excellent road conditions.

Manager's name is Bevan & Lorraine. Roads are gravel but nowhere near as dusty and a lot of grass has been planted and this has made a tremendous difference to the dust level. The amenity block has been well maintained and is in excellent condition. The price is reasonable value for money, however because of the shortage of caravan sites in Broome at peak time you must expect to pay premium prices. Management were very friendly and accommodating especially when we requested to extend our stay. Caravan parks in Broome are at an absolute premium and this one still accepts bookings. Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($34 2A per night, powered, peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, car wash, dump point, van parking. Peaceful, open and roomy, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, too many permanents. Clean gas bbq (free), dismal bbq area atmosphere. No playground, no pool. Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: They take bookings and go out of their way to assist you if you wish to extend your stay.
Dislikes: No pool. The BBQ area is tucked away in one corner next door to the van storage area and far away from most of the sites and definitely needs to be moved and upgraded.
Parking: Outside reception
Added Touches: Sausage sizzle on Thursday nights
Local Information: Usual Broome activities
Roads: Good.
Date 07/2009. Park Rating 3: Highly recommend this park and would definitely stay again.

Red dust. Some showers has no pressure and hot water very strict park as I get the feeling they always watching you. Poor management. Reasonable value for money, $29 per night, a bit overpriced for what you get. $1 cheaper for pensioners. Average amenities, close to sites. Average sites, adequate taps close by. Laundry, dump point. Park atmosphere was okay, open and roomy park. Clean gas bbq. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: Good Dump Point, shaded trees, big toilets/showers, can wash car using their bore water.
Dislikes: Red dust, some showers have low pressure. The Manager at that time is always watching and you and feel uncomfortable. Ablution block wont cope in busy times building very big but toilet/showers are limited.

Vacation Village Caravan Park, Broome
Port Drive. Turn right at police station and just follow the road towards the port/jetty. The park is on your right 2 km past the Boulevard Shopping Centre. Or, new ring road provides shortest, fastest and easiest route. Ignore park sign to city centre, instead go straight ahead on Gubinge Road towards Cable Beach and Port. Continue on Gubinge Road for about 7km, ignoring park sign down Cable Beach Road East, turn left at Port Road and park is just there on left. Ph: 08 9192 1057. No pets allowed.
We had an ensuite site, reasonable ensuite, plenty of room but only small shelf to unpack onto, good long towel rail plus several hooks. Not a proper basin but a laundry tub, no exhaust fan so mirror always fogs up. Good strong hot water. Good level cement site with cement annex slab. Powered sites didn't have cement slab. Lots of permanent cabins interspersed amongst ensuite sites, fairly small powered site section. Fair bit of noise from port traffic early in the morning, but reasonably quiet apart from that. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($308 2A per week, ensuite, peak season). Shade to most sites. Good laundry, no rec room, kiosk, dump point, secure entry. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Suitable for month or longer, well maintained park.

Report submitted by Nicholstones.

Much of park is occupied by cabins and ensuite caravan sites; the latter can apparently be booked ahead but a good deal of notice is required for high season. Normal powered sites cannot be pre-booked and are allocated on a first come first served basis. Once in park you can stay as long as you like, provided notice of extension is given by 4pm the previous day. We stayed on a powered site in high season, July, and park was full by lunchtime on almost every day. A small overflow area is located near the entrance. Reception was friendly and park layout explained, but we were left to find the site ourselves. Powered sites are divided over two area. The first area is near the entrance, set back from the road and comprises 22 sites around an amenities block. These appear well shaded, if rather cramped. The second area is at the southern end of the park, adjacent to the main road and comprises 42 sites, most with shade but some with no shade. All sites are gravel, with very little grass around. Good water and sullage to all sites. We stayed in the second area and found it very noisy from traffic during the day, but reasonable overnight until about 5am. Amenities for first area were not visited but appeared adequate. Amenities for second area were totally inadequate for high season, with 2 toilets and 2 showers in the men's and 2 toilets and 4 showers in the ladies, meaning queuing to use toilets in the early morning. Only 2 washing machines in this area also totally inadequate. Maintenance and cleaning was reasonable, but ventilation was poor. Showers had no mats or curtains; no mop was provided. Digital locks on the amenities doors were very difficult to use and seemed totally unnecessary given the park was surrounded by a high fence. Other facilities included a good pool area, free gas barbecues, wireless Internet which kept dropping out, limited grocery items in reception, tour booking service. No toilet dump point - we were advised to use one at the BP station 3 kms away. High season charge of $33 2A for powered site considered acceptable, given this is Broome, but only fair value given lack of amenities. There are better (and worse) caravan parks than this in Broome. Would stay again only if no alternative.
Dislikes: Inadequate amenities. Traffic noise. Digital locks on amenities rather than keys, hard to see at night, difficult to open from inside.

We came to this park of the Gibb River Road and were looking for an overnight stop, with a hot shower, washing machines and a supermarket. We found all and then some. Unbeknown to us it was Boab Festival weekend. We rang from the end of the Gibb River Road, spoke to Ian who assured we could have a site, albeit unpowered. On arrival greeted well, advised of requirements and shown to our site. Showers were great after 10 days on Gibb River Road. Washing done, shopping done. Site was roomy, flat and well shaded. Seem to be a large number of unpowered suites which did not cause us a problem as we have a great battery set up on the camper. May cause a problem for longer stays. Great little park close to everything. And I repeat, great managers. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for money. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: The managers make the park with their friendly helpful approach.
Dislikes: The idiots on motor bikes on the tidal flats nearby and not a police vehicle in sight

Easy to find, just follow the signs. A large park. Sites vary from gravel with concrete pad, just gravel and grass. Most are just long enough for a 25ft van but wide enough to take an annex, car and boat. There are also a few sites for big rigs. Sites are separated by trees and the whole park is quite attractive. There are three amenity blocks, two almost next to each other, the other a bit away from them. Sites at each end of the park would be a fair way away from the amenities. The amenities are fairly old but cleaned every day. Showers are hot and strong. No soap, hand-towels or air-blower. Staff are very friendly and helpful and, on arrival, supply a town map to help you find your way around. There is a nice covered BBQ area next to the office. The park is within easy walking distance of the town centre and Visitor Centre. A quiet park suitable for a few days.

Manager's name is Ian & Julie. Being main caravan park in Derby (only other one is very small), it was crowded with small sites. Very shady under trees so totally reliant on mains power, although there was a small area without trees for unpowered sites at the end of the park. Amenities old but adequate and kept clean, but a long way from some sites. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($27 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites. Basic laundry. Quiet, claustrophobic park, too much shade. No playground, no pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: Manager keen to please - good customer focus.
Dislikes: Small sites, crowded in feel.
Parking: Room on street outside.

Friendly reception, town facilities and activities explained in detail. A large park but was always full by evening, with vans lining up in street outside from midday. Large sites with plenty of shade, majority of them gravel surfaced, some with annexe pads, those on outer rim had reasonable grass. Power, good water and sullage to all sites. All roads were kerbed, small central camping area. Office had pleasant covered barbecue area outside where you could sit, but sold only souvenirs, drinks and ice creams. Shopping centre five minutes walk away. Three amenity blocks, appeared adequate to meet numbers. Clean and well maintained, excellent hot water pressure, but would benefit from soap, hand driers and mops for showers. Laundries appeared fine, machines clean and in good condition. Two dump points. Price of $27 2A for powered site considered reasonable value.

Lovely little park, only 20 powered sites plus 5 'overflow', also some cabins. Best amenities we've seen, with real shower screens and roomy dry area with bench and 2 hooks. Only 2 showers for each of men and women, but with small site numbers this was sufficient, in 5 days we never saw anyone having to wait. Only minor quibble was no plug for basins. All sites are well treed and shady, park is a bit dusty but so is the rest of the town. Separate disabled shower and toilet. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for money ($26 2A per night, powered). Amenities are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Park doesn't take bookings, so first come first served. We got one of the drive through sites, supposedly reserved for large vans only but travellers don't necessarily follow this. These sites are great, level concrete road to park on, very long site, with grass area for the annex. By early afternoon most powered sites have gone in peak season. Park has a lovely open feel, but with plenty of shade trees. There are 2 amenities blocks, the one on the hill is fine, with reasonable showers, good hot water and water pressure. Other block has terrible showers, no dry area to speak of and bad pressure and drainage. Both blocks have soap and paper towels in basins, but no plugs. Both blocks seem to be cleaned several times a day. Park is attached to hotel complex, hotel restaurant was excellent, although not cheap. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($29 2A per night, powered, peak season). Disabled facilities, poor night lighting, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry. A large, well-maintained park, at the rear of the motel/hotel/restaurant. Check in at the motel reception. There are a variety of sites, grass ones, large ones for big rigs, drive thru concrete ones and lots of un-powered sites. There are two amenity blocks, one with a laundry, the other with the campers kitchen, but only the former was in use during our stay, the other appeared to be being renovated. The swimming pool at the motel was available for all to use. The main amenity block was tastefully decorated and, each day, the cleaner placed new soap blocks on each washbasin, and flowers in a vase. The only real criticism I would have is that, although each shower had its own drain-hole, all the water from each shower ran along, through the remaining showers, to the end one. At the hotel there is a well-stocked bar and we had an excellent meal in the restaurant. Suitable for any length of stay.

This is without doubt one of the best parks in the Kimberley region. Reception is at hotel, friendly and informative. Tour bookings handled. Caravan park is five minutes walk from hotel. Beautifully grassed, mostly very good shade. Sites are reasonably large, with about 20 pull through sites for vans 6m or longer. These have a concrete base but a lovely island of grass between each two vans. Good power and water to all sites. Amenities block is on a small hill in centre of park, but there is also a smaller block nearby. Large camping area with safari tents, plenty of unpowered sites. Park fills rapidly in peak season. Amenities are spotless and well maintained, seemed adequate for number of people although laundry was always fully used. Bar and restaurant in hotel available for park guests, but take-away liquor cannot be purchased because of licence restrictions. Petrol and diesel available on site, lpg in town. Dump point for toilets. Swimming pool at hotel also available to park residents. Town tour to Geikie Gorge available, book at reception. $27 2A for powered site considered very good value given facilities of park. Likes: peaceful green oasis in middle of outback.

Park doesn't take bookings, so first in gets best choice of site. Most sites are drive through, and we found no problems with our 20'6" caravan. Sites have annex slab that you share with another van, this means you are very close to your neighbour; there isn't room for both vans to put out an awning. However, it is roomy otherwise you are well away from other vans. Next to the slab are concrete wheel bases, so the site is very level and stable. Showers are awful, no dry area at all, and as the park is very dusty it meant that after one shower the whole floor in the facilities block was dirty. There was no plug, soap or towels provided for the basins. We declined to use the shower, so can't comment on the hot water, but the water to the van was reasonable. There was a pool but we didn't go and look at it so can't comment. There was a barbecue but it took $1 coins and looked like it hadn't been used for months, rusty and dirty. We found the park quiet on the night we were there. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($26 2A per night, powered). Suitable for overnighter.
Local Information: Old Hall's Creek isn't worth going to, hardly anything remaining of the buildings and virtually no information provided.

We thought this was quite an attractive looking park. The red/brown of the gravel and concrete contrasted with the white trunks and grey-green foliage of the gum trees. The park is quite spacious but most sites are in pairs, quite close to and facing each other, which is great if you are travelling with another couple but could be uncomfortable if you were incompatible with your neighbours. There are two amenity blocks, both shabby and needing a bit of care and attention. In both of them the cubicles are very small, in one of the blocks the cubicles have no bench or anywhere to put your stuff whilst showering. Showers were hot and strong. There is a pool and a well-stocked mini-mart. The staff members we encountered were friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night and found it a very quiet and relaxing park. A good stopover for one or two nights.

An unappealing park. Reception appeared to be backpacker staff. Staff were instructed to tell us all about the small shop at reception, even though I didn't want to know. She warned us that water had high calcium content. She said all sites were drive through - they weren't; they were mostly rather short for even a big caravan. We and another traveller who both wanted to stay hitched took unlevel sites alongside amenities block. Equivalent on other side of amenities block was taken by large motor homes. Showers cubicles didn't have a dressing area. Laundry was grotty. Although not on highway, not quiet due to local noise, cars and dogs barking all night. Note: While travelling on two occasions we heard that Halls Creek was out of diesel - there are two servos. People had to wait for a few days for next fuel supply to arrive. Average staff friendliness. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($26 2A powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Some level sites, small sites, poor water quality, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry. Noisy, open & roomy park. Suitable for overnighter.

Friendly reception in extremely well stocked shop - more like a general store. Told to select any site we liked. Reasonable amount of shade. All sites dirt surfaced as drought killed all the grass, most of them drive-through, several had annexe pads. Arrangement means caravans are close to each other although park itself is roomy. Power and water to sites, pressure good, fit for drinking. Amenities clean and although not flash quite adequate, although could be taxed if park was full. Gas refills available. Park is surrounded by a security fence although there is no gate; this is a throwback to when town had a bad reputation. It is now virtually a "dry" town and very hard to buy liquor, and there seems to be no trouble nowadays. Suitable for overnight stay, or two nights if exploring the Old Halls Creek area. Price of $24 2A for powered site considered reasonable.

Chose this park in preference to Halls Creek due to history advertised in area. Very disappointed. Park is extremely run down, facilities are shocking. Power is only enough for lights - electric jug threw circuit breaker. Very dirty and dusty, full of drunk permanents. Hard to find staff on arrival and then served by young boy as apparently his parents were in town and it was his job to do the bookings. It is a shame that with the tourist office publicity about Old Halls Creek this place has been let go so much. Could not recommend it to anyone I am afraid. Average staff friendliness. Generators allowed until sunset, although station generator runs well into the night and is much noisier than any camper's generator. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice. Very crowded 'in season' with sites small and close to each other. More room in the less sought unpowered areas. A lot of seasonal workers, including young backpackers from overseas. Helpful staff, who try and find the right site for your rig - which means people wait while they devote attention to the customer they are dealing with. No discounted weekly rate during peak season. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($26 2A per night powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, disabled facilities. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites. Basic laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, dump point. Quiet, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade. Clean gas bbq. No playground. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Likes: Nice; on outskirts of town backing onto a national park. Quiet and scenic location yet only minutes from town CBD. Hot water always hot, even when there is a queue for the showers. Helpful staff.
Dislikes: Crowded - very small sites, campers packed closely together. Showers with water running from cubicle to cubicle and drainage along back of showers. Not enough washing machines or clothes lines to cope with needs of seasonal workers and tourists. Only two taps for four bays with taps and power outlets not close to all sites; need long hose and long power cord (office will help with long power cords if needed).
Parking: Gets crowded and if people aren't considerate, road can get blocked.
Added Touches: Lovely pool area, with green fake lawn, paddle pool, barbecue in enclosure (in addition to barbecues at both camp kitchens). Area set aside for washing cars, changing oil and cleaning fish. Computer in front office set aside for customers on a fee for time basis. Staff can send and receive faxes for a fee.
Local Information: Can walk into Mirima National Park at back of caravan park. All tours, cruises and flights can be booked at park, and these tours provide free pick up from all the caravan parks.

For a BIG4 5 STAR park this is not up to scratch. They give a whole new meaning to the words "stacking them in". We were pre-booked with a camper trailer and they had been advised of the size. Taken to the site on arrival and the Manager Gary said it was too small so we were found another site. Reasonable amount of room for trailer and squeezed in the car (could reach out and shake hands with neighbours inside their tent and camper). By next morning the place was more than full and there were campers etc on any available space, however small, with cords running everywhere. We use BIG4 parks a lot and not overly impressed with this one. Amenities were reasonable, undercover BBQ area okay. Managers and older staff very friendly. Some of the younger staff members need a bit of education in customer service. Very rude and short with customers. Don't know how long managers have been there but although they were nice and friendly, general consensus was that they were a bit overwhelmed by it all. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Inadequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, small sites, shade to most sites, hard to negotiate into site. Good laundry, basic rec room. Peaceful, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in average condition. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area. Suitable for few days.

A nice park but over-rated at five stars. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice park but compared to many others it's just not five star. Sites vary in size from small to large but on many the surface is just dirt. Some of the sites are so far away from the power poles that you have to ask for extension leads. When you book in you are taken, via a golf cart, to see your site. It takes a bit of time, especially at peak periods but it does save that driving around the park trying to decipher the mudmap you've been handed. There are two amenity blocks. The shower cubicles are quite spacious and there are sufficient hooks, bench space etc to enable you to dress and undress in comfort. Showers are hot and strong but, even though each shower has its own drain hole, because the dividing walls don't come down to the floor, water flows from cubicle to cubicle. There is a good pool area, small playground and three BBQs, two of which are designated as camp kitchens. One of these is just a BBQ area with a roof over, the other has a microwave and an oven, the latter not being much use as the door didn't close properly. Staff are friendly and helpful and you can book tours through reception. Suitable for any length of stay.

Charged for our 3yo but would have cost more to get bedding and a towel for her - not impressed given the price we had already paid. They did however replace the kitchen sink plug which was unusable. Shower oscillated between boiling hot 1% of the time and freezing cold for the other 99% of the time. Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for money ($126 2A C1 per night cabin). Cabin was clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was inadequate hot water, mostly level sites, good night lighting. Good laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen. Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Dislikes: Being charged for our 3 yo; shower was unusable.

I don't know how many hoops other parks have to jump through to earn 5 stars, but this one certainly doesn't deserve this rating. The roads are narrow, no slabs, many sites have an inconvenient slope to climb before levelling off, the pool and surrounds are far too small. We were shown our site before having to accept, then left on our own. Once staff had the money, interest evaporated. Having said that, the amenities were clean and well maintained. Staff were winning the battle to keep dust down and grass growing, with the help of the limitless Ord River water. Can understand the cost, air conditioners run almost non-stop. There is a lot to do in this area, so at least a week is needed. Our disappointment was in expecting something exceptional. If the rating was 4 star, we would not have had the reaction we had and would have known what to expect.

Ideal location on shores of Lily Lagoon with beautiful view across to the Sleeping Buddha. Easy walk to town centre. Sites very large and shaded - too shaded in our case, as we could not get a signal on our satellite dish because of the trees. One can't have everything. Grass was sparse to non-existent because of the shade, so it was dust and leaves underfoot. Power and water to sites but little or no sullage. Small and well maintained saltwater pool, playground, internet room, kiosk, book exchange etc. Amenities well maintained and clean, but barely adequate for numbers during the winter peak. Laundry was definitely overtaxed and it was difficult to obtain a machine. Despite a few shortcomings, a pleasant park suitable for an extended stay. Kununurra Lakeside Resort-Caravan Park, Kununurra
On Victoria Highway turn left at sign before entering at eastern end of town. Ph: 08 9169 1092. Family Parks member. Pets at manager's discretion.
Manager's name is Carol Shaw This park is on the eastern edge of Lake Kununurra (Lily Creek Lagoon) and if you are fortunate enough to get one of the water front sites you will have a magnificent view, all other sites are crammed in with none or very little view of the water. Bookings are not taken so you need to get to Kununurra early, especially during the peak season which is May to September, if you want a powered site as the park fills up very quickly. If you have a pet this is the only caravan park in Kununurra that accepts pets. We had problems with overhanging branches but the maintenance man removed them very promptly. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($27 2A per night, powered, peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, all level sites, good night lighting, small sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. basic laundry, no rec room, disabled facilities, dump point, van parking. Quiet, open and roomy, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, too many permanents. Dirty UC gas bbq (free), dismal bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for any length of stay, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: The setting.
Dislikes: We were charged a surcharge to use our credit card. Very little work appeared to be done around the park. The lock on the door for the disabled toilet wasn't working. There is no soap in the amenities. The floor in the dry change area in the showers got wet. In spite of Kununurra having plenty of water washing of cars and vans was not permitted.
Parking: Outside reception
Added Touches: Sails Café and Bistro open for breakfast, coffee/tea/cakes, lunch and dinner. Friday nights has a speciality of Barra and Chips. Durack Steakhouse is an a la carte restaurant open from Wed - Sun. Self drive bbq pontoon boats are available for hire.

The only establishment at Lake Argyle. Staff efficient and pleasant in reception, lead you to site, parking help if required. Medium sized park, good shade, sites level but most are narrow. Neighbours beside and behind are very close. Power and water close, no sullage. 3 amenities blocks are "transportables"; 2 older-style, cramped and apparently difficult to clean; 1 new, spacious and very clean. Adequate in number. Strong hot water, power points for hairdryers. Night lighting at amenities. Several washing machines and sinks. Shaded grassy park for unpowered camping. General store has souvenirs, licensed café, tour bookings, internet. A stay of a couple nights would allow time to see Durack Homestead Museum, Ord River Dam, do a boat trip on the lake, go fishing or canoeing. Park is no longer a Top Tourist member. Half the park is closed and is being converted to cabins only, the other half will be converted when this is finished. Nice shady park, most sites have an annex slab plus a concrete driveway for your car, ours had only dust. Reasonable facilities, although no shower curtain, soap or towels. Although the park was full there were always plenty of free showers. Office does free tour bookings and were very helpful. Park is on the edge of the industrial zone, so traffic and factory noise starts early, then pub on other side can be noisy at night. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($30 2A per night, powered, peak season). Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, dump point, a few permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Clean pool is shaded. Suitable for few days, well maintained park.

Port Smith Caravan Park, Port Smith
140 kms south of Broome and 23 kms off the highway, along a well maintained sandy road that offers no terrors to a conventional van or 2WD vehicle, near Cape Latouche Treville. Ph: 08 9191 4983. Dogs allowed under control.
100 large powered sites under hundreds of shady trees. All red dirt but it is away from everything. Cost a little high than expected. Sandfly can cause problems to some people, need to cover up at sunset/sunrise. Water pressure is very low. Great place for fishing/mud crabbing or just taking it easy. Good management, friendly management, management responsive to comments, management was helpful. Reasonable value for money, $28.50 per night 2A, 7th day free. Average amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, close to sites, were clean, were in good condition. Very good sites, the site size was okay, drive-through sites were available, adequate sullage close by. Laundry, kiosk. Good atmosphere to park, quiet, family-friendly park. Clean gas bbq (free). Suitable for a week or more, the park was well maintained.
Likes: Friendly people, peaceful, shady park.

Roads: 23km gravel road not to bad for most vehicles.

Very friendly reception, park and locality layout explained, mud map provided. Large park, very well shaded, roomy sites with power, water and sullage to most. On red dirt but this IS the outback! Water pressure low but water quite drinkable. 240 volt power available 24 hours. Well stocked store on site, public phone takes Phonecards only, no mobile signal or TV reception. Amenities have been replaced since 2007 and are now a centralised set of ensuite units. Very clean and well maintained, showers have curtains, bath mats and mop and bucket provided, equipped with fans. Water pressure and temperature a little less than usual but satisfactory. Generally adequate for number of sites except when everybody returns from fishing at the same time and wants a shower. Well lit at night. Port Smith comprises just the caravan park and a bird park and garden 400m further down road. Latter is a must to see with huge range of aviaries and oasis-like gardens, and alone worth visiting Port Smith. Other than that, only activities are fishing and mud-crabbing, or "chilling out", and away from park its definitely 4WD only territory. No "port" as such, only a mangrove lined lagoon and miles of tracks. Staff said it was quite safe to swim in lagoon at high tide, as no crocodiles this far south. Many residents come here for whole of winter for the fishing. Price of $28.50 2A for powered site considered reasonable given remote location. Very busy during season and need to be early to guarantee powered site. Advance bookings taken.
Likes: Quiet, peaceful, shady park.

Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, poor value for money ($27.50 2A per night powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Men's showers were small prefab type. They had a couple of curtains but no dressing area - the dressing area consisted of the small space between facing showers. The area was consistently wet and impossible to keep your towel dry. The women's showers had separate dressing area but it was extremely small - they had to stand with a foot in the shower recess and the other in the dressing area. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, adequate taps close by, no rec room, kiosk. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade. Dogs on leash. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: Nice bush park
Dislikes: Amenities.
Local Information: Good lagoon for fishing nearby but has crocs so no good for swimming.
Roads: The 23 km of road from the highway is natural sandy surface which is moderately well maintained.

Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, poor value for money ($34 2A C4 per night). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, large sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, no rec room. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. Pets at manager's discretion. Clean UC gas bbq (free), dismal bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting No playground, no pool. Well maintained park.
Dislikes: Atmosphere and attitude of other campers. This is not a park to visit if you have children. We were made to feel most unwelcome at this park by the other campers. We were told about the hamburger night they were having that night to raise money for RFDS so we took our 4 children. We were looked down upon and ignored by the people attending. I would not recommend this park to anyone.
Roads: 23kms of dirt can be a bit hairy!

Manager's name is Gadget & Ron. A delightful bush park close to lovely Port Smith lagoon. Excellent fishing and swimming. The park was clean and tidy and although the roads within the park were gravel it wasn't all that dusty. Likes: Management sprayed the entire park every night for sandflies and mosquitos.
Dislikes: The gents showers had no drying area
Parking: Outside reception
Added Touches: Every other day management take guests by boat across to the other side of the lagoon to fish, swim or whatever - cost is a donation to the RFDS. The park has a bush 9-hole golf course which is very challenging. Supaduck dingies can be hired.
Local Information: Excellent fishing. Bird sanctuary - well worth a visit and chat with the owner.

Turkey Creek Caravan Park, Turkey Creek
Turkey Creek (Warmun) is half-way between Halls Creek (163 kms south) and Wyndham/Kununurra. On the main highway 200km west of Kununurra towards Halls Creek. 53 kilometres north of the turnoff into the Bungle Bungles. Caravan park is attached to the roadhouse. Ph: 08 9168 7882.
$28 per night. The caravan park at this roadhouse seems to be mainly used by caravanners doing the tour into the Bungles Bungles and has only a small number of powered sites which were taken by 11 am. Bookings not taken so need to be early to be sure of power. Small swimming pool. Each section of the toilet block had two showers, two toilets and was clean. Adequate for overnight. Roadhouse has restaurant but was closed early in the evening. Friendly staff.

Small park, about a dozen powered sites plus unpowered camping area, water supplied to powered sites. Dusty, some grass, reasonable shade on some sites. Amenities reasonably clean but very tired and inadequate for number of people staying there - gents had 1 toilet, 2 showers. Several permanent workers on site and are early starters so morning rush begins early. Pool seemed reasonably clean but too cold to use. Roadhouse sells all fuels, has takeaway food, restaurant and reasonable supply of groceries. Fuel must be paid for before filling up. Only reason to stay would be to leave caravan while going in to Bungle Bungles. Helicopter flights also operate from roadhouse. Generally the park is run down because a new caravan park has been constructed on the other side of the highway and is only awaiting power and water connection before opening. This has large and partly shaded sites (trees still growing) with new amenities and this should be a great improvement. There is also a secured area where caravans can be left unattended at a small cost. Price of $28 2A for powered site not particularly good value for what you get, but this IS the outback! Suitable for very short term stay until new park opened.

Wyndham Caravan Park, Wyndham
Baker Street, 1 km North of Post Office. The park is on the western edge of town and is sign posted. Heading through Wyndham on highway, turn into Baker Street near servo. Ph: 08 9161 1064. Pets permitted.
The park really needs some maintenance and upgrading. The sites are large, shady, most have concrete slabs. The amenities are old, dimly lit, fairly clean. Did not use the showers as they looked difficult to use without getting all your gear wet. They do not take bookings and you select your own site. There is no dump point. Whilst here make sure you go up to the Five Rivers Lookout at sunset; it is magic. Also about five or six kms before you get to the town on the right there is a dirt road that goes into a wetlands lagoon. Well worth a visit. We saw Jabirus, crocs and heaps of other birdlife; just as good as Kakadu. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($25.00 2A per night, peak season). Adequate number of tourist sites. Suitable for few days.
Likes: The large shady trees
Dislikes: The amenities
Added Touches: There is a small kiosk van near the entrance that for a few nights a week sells Barra n Chips; good value and great food.

First impressions were: quite an attractive park with lots of mature trees but, once we were parked, we could see long grass, lots of out-of-control weeds, broken rocks lying around, etc. The office is closed from 11am to 2.30 pm so if you arrive between those times you find a site and pay later. There are two amenity blocks, which were quite well maintained but with very little natural light, were dark and gloomy. The lights were not switched on until lighting-up-time so if you went for a shower in the hour or two prior, it was very difficult to see what you were doing. In both blocks the cubicles are very small, in one of the blocks the cubicles have no bench or anywhere to put your stuff whilst showering. Showers were hot and strong. There is a nice shaded pool with chairs around. A quiet, peaceful park, which is suitable for one or more nights

A very pleasant open and roomy park, with level sites and concrete pads, well spaced apart. Some shady trees. Two amenities blocks with older one needed a little TLC.
