Cohuna Waterfront Caravan Park, Cohuna
Turn Right off the highway at the roundabout in town if heading north. About 300m on the right. Well signposted. Make sure you pull into the check-in entrance which is separate to the normal park entrance. Ph: 03 5456 2562. Family Parks member. Dogs on leash.
Friendly staff. Price was as expected, good value for money ($25 2A per night powered, off-peak period). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by. Dump point, secure entry. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, too many permanents. Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere. Good playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Likes: Right on the Gunbower Creek which is OK for swimming. Great park out of season but would be busy in the peak school holidays. Good facilities for kids and walking distance to town. Reasonable base for exploring the area. If you have kids or a dog then stop here, otherwise some of the other parks in the area may be more suited to an extended stay, like Swan Hill, etc.
Dislikes: The facilities are older but clean and well maintained.
Parking: Pull into the special check-in entrance immediately after the main entrance booms.

Echuca Caravan Park, Echuca
Crofton Street, in Victoria Park, north end of town. Entry from center lane of road before it veers to the left. Stop to left or right before boom gates to book. Ph: 03 5482 2157 or 1800 555 640. Top Tourist member. No pets allowed.
This is a large park with good secure access and very close to the Heritage Precinct and main street. The grounds are well maintained, with flat sites, many drive throughs and sealed roads. The reception was friendly and helpful. At $27 per night after the discount for Top Tourist membership it is not the cheapest. However it has does have all the facilities for families like a pool and large playground. There are plenty of showers and toilets and whilst the facilities were well tiled and new basins etc it gave the impression of needing some attention. Very little hangers in the shower or toilet cubicles, no places for the soap or shampoo in the shower itself. The shower had plenty of hot water with good pressure. Dispensing soap was provided at hand basins. The park was pretty busy when we were there because of the Winter Blues Festival (which is worth a look in July of each year). As a result the facilities were a bit grotty by mid morning with lots of water pooling on both floors in the men's and ladies facilities. Many cubicles had lots of mud in them and there needs to be more than one bucket and mop during winter - by 9am it was a sea of mud. Apart from that grizzle, the park is a good one and worth a long stay. Lots to see and do in Echuca/Moama.

Report submitted by Blue and Rose, Flagstaff Hill SA.

Drive through sites were $3 more than non drive through ones. Friendly staff, average staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, poor value for money ($30 2A per night, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was inadequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs to most sites, very few sites are shaded. Basic laundry, basic rec room, good camp kitchen, secure entry. Noisy, open & roomy park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere. Dirty pool, kid-safe pool area. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Likes: Close to town and Port of Echuca; the free WiFi internet; roomy showers and wash basin areas
Dislikes: The fact that as there was no camping area, tents were among the powered sites and the ones near us were young - noisy arriving; and noisy again after midnight getting back from the pub or club. $4 for washing machines is too much. Ducks in the swimming pool at dawn.
Added Touches: Free internet on your enabled laptop
Local Information: Echuca is a lovely town and the Port of Echuca was great. The pies and cakes at the Echuca branch of the Beechworth bakery were good too

The park was generally neat and tidy, but the amenities need some TLC. The showers were not good (fluctuating temperature) and the shower heads point directly at the changing area with no shower curtain. The nearest laundry block had one only a washing machine - there are 2 amenities blocks. There were three electric BBQ's (small fee) spread around the park, but only one near us and that was in the camp kitchen, so fairly busy - 3 BBQ's for around 160 tourist sites. Most sites were near level, and with shade cloth pegged down instead of concrete. Looks reasonable but harder to keep clean, particularly with the ducks wandering around leaving deposits. My wife commented that the ducks had also visited the ladies loo, leaving deposits on the vanity tops. $27 per night less TTP discount for powered site, 2A - only average value. Mix of drive-thru and back-in sites. The park would be suitable for several days (we stayed 2 nights) but we will try elsewhere next time. Friendly staff. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, good camp kitchen, dump point. Quiet, open and roomy, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. No pets allowed. Good playground in good condition. Suitable for a few days.
Likes: Quiet and well laid out.
Dislikes: Condition of amenities.

Rich River Caravan & Tourist Park, Echuca
After arriving in Echuca (on the Vic side), turn right on to Pakenham St, cross the railway tracks, and follow the signs until you get to Crescent Street (about 2.5kms). Turn left into Crescent Street and the park is at the end. Ph: 03 5482 3658. Family Parks member.
Manager's name is Barry & Marianne Magnus. This is a small park with only 70+ sites in total, so if you're after somewhere where you can lose the kids, this ain't the place. Having said that, I would almost certainly stay at this park again although at times I felt that the managers needed a gentle reminder that this is not a holiday for them. I saw them on many occasions leave the office unmanned to have a swim in the pool or have extended chats with the holiday makers and friends sometimes leaving people wishing to register not knowing what to do or where to go. Friendly staff. Price was as expected, very good value for money. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, separate bathroom, dry change area, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, basic rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, car wash, secure entry. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. No pets allowed. Clean UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool is open to sun, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Very shady, family friendly especially if you have small children (too small for them to get lost)
Dislikes: Too close to the abattoir next door. On hot days, the smell would waft over.
Added Touches: The manager occasionally handed out lollipops to the young kids.
Local Information: Echuca has a lot to do in the immediate and surrounding areas. Fishing, boating, skiing, forest walks, golf, to name a few.

Riverbend Caravan Park, Echuca
Head east out of Echuca - Pakenham Street for approx 10kms (all bitumen), make a left at Stewarts Bridge Road and follow along the Murray through the Barmah Forest for about another 8 kms. Road is gravel, but in great condition, nice and wide, easily fit 4wd & van passing opposite. Park has its own signs with a countdown of km's so you can be sure you haven't gone too far. Riverbend on the right. Worth the drive!! Ph: 03 5482 6650.Dogs on leash.

Likes: Like a peaceful oasis, green immaculate lawns as far as the eye can see, bordered by the Barmah Forest. Large, grassy sites, lovely big trees. Extremely safe for children, lovely playground, fenced pool and just room for them and the "big kids" to play cricket, footy, ride bikes etc. Lovely walking tracks down to a beach on the Goulburn River. Very friendly relaxed atmosphere, met lots of people! Out of the hustle and bustle of Echuca/Moama, but close enough to venture in daily.
Added Touches: Camp fires (depending on fire restrictions), entertainment on public holiday weekend (NYE & Aust day)

Riverlander Caravan Park, Echuca
48 Pianta Road, 7 kms west of Echuca on main road to Swan Hill. Ph: 03 5482 2558. Dogs on leash.
Pet friendly. Very disappointing site as it is the only one we could find that would allow dogs that was near Echuca. Site is made up of mostly permanent vans in rather rough condition and appears to cater for those who have water skiing boats. The few caravan sites that are available are at the back closest to the river. There is some sparse grass covering but our site was all dirt. The amenities block is a distance away from the caravan sites located in amongst the permanents. There is however a 3 toilet block with one shower in a tin shed near the caravan sites which is rather primitive. Unable to tune in TV and difficulty with finding a non-Next G phone signal. There is a lovely walk along the river in the State Park where dogs can be walked. We booked in 4 nights and stayed 2. Reasonable value for money. Good sites.

Stayed 2 days, $23.40 member discount per night powered. This park is approximately 3 kms out of town. Entry is via a boom gate, with separate entry and exit. Reception was very friendly and helpful and we were given site no. 73, near the river, as requested. The river in fact was about 20 metres from our van, but we were very happy with our site. Most van sites are level, some with concrete slab. The park very clean and well maintained. The amenities block is close to most sites. It had five showers, 4 toilets, fans, blow hand driers, and was spotless. In fact the floor tiles were the glossiest tiles I had ever seen in a caravan park. The separate children's bathroom with normal bath, small baby bath, basin and toilet was also spotless. A work sheet pinned on the back of the entrance door noted who had cleaned the amenities, what time, and a tick on what had been cleaned. The laundry was also in excellent condition and spotless. Water pressure was good. The two swimming pools were very clean. One swimming pool was near the courtside villas while the other was located behind reception. One family with children was going stay 2 nights but stayed 7 because of the safe facilities for young children. There are also facilities for mini golf, a beach volley ball court, playground, recreational room TV room, camp kitchen and 4 bbq rotundas, all in good spotless condition. The park is very quiet with the only "noise" being a wake up call from the birds in the morning. There are various cabins, villas, etc to rent also. We would definitely stay in this park again, and wished we could have stayed longer. It comes very highly recommended.

Good amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, close to sites, were clean, were in good condition, water pressure was okay, there was adequate hot water, had the little touch of bath mats in the showers. Likes: The friendliness of the new owners Gloria and Phil. They deserve to do well with this little park. Clean tank water is available for cooking and drinking.

Very small caravan park, poorly maintained and very untidy. A handful of powered sites on dirt and dead grass, reasonable shade, no annexe pads, no sullage. Water in taps is not potable and appears to be lake water. Drinking water available from rainwater tank. Amenities very old and tired, maintained to minimum standard. However shower cubicles were very roomy. Such was colour of water that we forewent showers. Park has frontage to lake on a dry mud shoreline, reached past piles of rubbish. No other facilities except basic BBQ area. Public phone at shop. Poor TV reception, every antenna around pointed a different direction. Price of $18 2A for powered site poor value for standard of park. We would not stay again.

We didn't need it but watched other struggle. Some annex pads were on the wrong side of site for the door of most vans. Established gardens, grass and shade trees. Some permanents with discrete setups to the rear of park. Night lighting good. Amenities close to most sites. Adequate numbers, as the proportion of sites with ensuites is unusually large. However, cubicles are small, splash factor high and shower heads in a very awkward position. Camp kitchen reasonably well equipped, small and a bit worn. In the tin shed rec. room, sparsely equipped, are two computer consoles for internet at $2 for 20 minutes. No USB ports. Wireless internet by prepaid card (better prospect is La Rue internet café on Deakin Street in town.) Traffic on busy Calder Highway could hardly be heard. Large shopping complex at short drive/reasonable walk. Nice enough park, suitable for stays of up to a week. However it is squeezy for vans and with not much to look at other than the walls of cabins and the (many) brick ensuites. The pool, bbqs, playground and tennis court - all well maintained - are the more spacious outlook of the top of the range cabins. Would probably try another park next time.

This park is definitely overrated. Most sites are ensuite with a handful of sites without ensuites. Grass sites with cement slab for annex. Amenities could be a bit cleaner and they also need a refurbishment. Close to all sites. Soap provided. Pool, playground, tennis court, putting green and basketball court. Spa for a fee. Basic camp kitchen and games room are in a tin shed. Park situated on Calder Highway, but surprisingly we heard very little highway noise. Walking distance to shopping centre with major supermarket. There are permanents which were no problem. Park was relatively quiet. Cost was $31.50 2A 2C powered.

Calder Highway, on north side, near intersection San Mateo Avenue, 400 m east of Plaza Shopping Centre. Ph: 03 5023 1310 or 1800 231 310. Top Tourist member. No pets.
On Calder Highway just down from the Centro Shopping Centre. We booked late and in the high season of the Country Music Festival and school holidays. So the best site available was right at the front of the park and it was very noisy right thru the night and day. However the owners were friendly and explained the problems with the site when we booked. The park is relatively small with grassed and slab sites available. The showers and toilets are old and in need of some care and maintenance. Would probably look to stay outside of Mildura next time. At $31.50 after the discount the price was a bit high for the facilities. Dump site is right next door to some poor bugger's annexe - but at least there is one! Would be OK for a long stay but be sure to get a site down the back of the park.
Likes: Close to a large shopping centre. Friendly and honest management.
Dislikes: Very noisy up the front.

Helpful pleasant management are a big plus when rating this park. Sites have some grass & most are ensuite. Many are drive through. Sites are well maintained, considering the lack of water, level & facilities are clean. Hot water to showers in the ensuites is shared - so was a bit erratic if another ensuite was using the hot water. Overall it was "just a park" but having ridden our bikes through some of the other similar rated parks in Mildura this park is amongst the best in town. In general caravan parks in Mildura seem to be 'Cabin Parks' with a few sites allocated for caravans. This applies for this park, but perhaps not as much as for others. Very good management, friendly management, management was helpful. Reasonable value for money. Good amenities. Good sites, sites were level, the site size was okay, annexe slabs were available, drive-through sites were available, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Laundry, rec room, dump point. Good atmosphere to park, quiet, open and roomy park. Clean UC electric bbq. Suitable for a few days, the park was well maintained.

Manager's name is Jack & Deb Thomas. Nice clean park, and well set up. Some drive through sites, and some sites had concrete or paving slabs for annexe. Night lighting was patchy, okay in some areas but poor in others. Overall okay, and happy to stay here again. Manager's name is Margaret and Daryl Beasy. Although I would give this park a low rating it was probably the best one in Mildura. Other parks were cramped and sites very mean in size. I found the noise of dogs barking very irritating, and then discovered one of them was the manager's own dog! The park is generally run down and a bit seedy. Sites are hard to find, as the numbering has faded. Most sites had no concrete slabs, and were placed on sandy soil, meaning sand gets into the van - or mud if it rains! I was particularly dismayed at the lack of a dump point; the staff claim it's because they have a sewerage system and it can't cope with chemicals. I wonder how other parks manage? Very friendly staff, average staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice. Price was lower than expected, reasonable value for money ($19.50 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, late checkout allowed (up to noon), kiosk, van parking. Noisy, open & roomy park, family/friendly atmosphere. Dismal bbq area atmosphere. Basic playground. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, park is considered kid-safe.

Quambatook Caravan Park, Quambatook
Just over the Avoca River on the Boort Road. Signposted from the main street. Ph: 0428 857 122.
Manager's name is Bull & Jackie Ritchie. This is a small community run park adjacent to the footy oval. Has recently had management transferred back to a local committee and they are currently upgrading the park. Has 8 ensuite sites, 8 powered sites and 8 unpowered sites. There are also a couple of large bunkhouses with ensuites sleeping 6 per room. It is on the edge of town and very quiet but as Quambatook is only a main street and railway it's only 5 minutes walk away. There is a local outdoor pool that opens each afternoon at 3pm. Local pub has meals 5 nights but food is variable. Local shop is well stocked. We stayed 5 nights including one where we were the only visitors and it was great. The ensuite sites have green grass and the ensuites are well maintained but because of only occasional use can be dusty inside. The shower roses are in the ceiling so take a shower cap if you don't want wet hair. There are no facilities on site and you need to phone the manager to let him know you are arriving so he can advise you the site number. We chose our own and he was happy with that. Note no GSM phone coverage but good CDMA. Quambatook is a great little place to stay a few days and visit the surrounding area, Swan Hill, Kerang etc. Make sure you keep clear of local events as we were advised that the park was always busy for these and facilities would not cope. May be best to ask when you enquire if there are likely to be other visitors. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, very good value for money ($16 2A per night powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to all sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, no rec room. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. Pets at manager's discretion (ask about your requirements). No bbqs, no playground, no pool. Suitable for few days, well maintained park.
Local Information: Quambatook is about 70km from Swan Hill, 50km from Kerang and 40km from Boort. There is rarely water in the river adjacent.
Roads: Most roads are good but watch out for the rail crossings on the Boort road which are in particularly poor condition with large potholes. Recommend slowing to a walking pace to cross them.

Manager's name is Geoff & Jenny Blohm. This is a lovely park literally on the banks of the Murray River. Sites are all well grassed and the view over the river superb. The staff are very friendly and the general condition of the park is good - evidence of lots of improvements underway. Easily accommodated 27' motorhome plus tow vehicle. Only criticism would be no sullage at sites or cental dump point making it unsuitable for a long stay. Would definitely stay here again. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, very good value for money. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, large sites, adequate taps close by. Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere Suitable for few days, well maintained park.

Weir Caravan Park, Robinvale
Pethard Road, 3km south-west of the PO, and next to Lock 15. Ph: 03 5026 3415. Top Tourist member. All pets allowed.
Manager's name is Carmel & Calvin. This park has a range of accommodation including cabins, on-site vans, powered and unpowered sites. There are also 2 ensuite powered sites. Only some of the sites and cabins have a view of the river and even that is limited, and does not compare to the alternative park the Robinvale Riverside Caravan Park. Those powered and unpowered sites near the river share a small amenities block of 2 toilets and 2 showers (for Gents, assume Ladies is similar). The facilities were clean. The sites on the higher levels do not have river views, and are fairly dry and dusty. We had an ensuite powered site priced at $23.40 2A after TTP member discount. The water pressure was nothing to write home about, but plenty of hot water, and dry change area. Manager advised that water to the park is untreated river water, okay for washing etc, but recommended using tank water for drinking (available). We were happy for the one night in the ensuite site, but if staying longer, or if you wanted a better view of the river in a greener park, I would recommend trying the Robinvale Riverside Caravan Park. Friendly staff, no complaints, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for money ($26 2A per night powered). Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, poor water quality, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk. Quiet, plenty of shade. Clean UC gas bbq ($1), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Suitable for a few days, suitable for families, well maintained park.

Lake Waranga Caravan Park & Holiday Camp, Rushworth
98 Waranga Basin Road. 4 km off Rushworth - Tatura Road. Well signed. Ph: 03 5856 1243. Family Parks member. No pets allowed.
Manager's name is Don Moschetti & Rosemary Tate. Our hosts were Don Moschetti & Rosemary Tate. Upon arrival to the park we were given a park map outlining our site, Don offered to take us down to show us and provide any assistance we needed, which was a great help after a long day on the road. We found the park to be a very quiet country/bush setting with plenty of natural wildlife in and around the park. It's always a joy to see Kangaroos and grass parrots. The site was well shaded and out of the hot afternoon sun. Cassie and I enjoyed a nice refreshing swim in the clean shaded pool. Great idea was the adult's hour between 7 and 8pm, which meant no children! Bonus! The amenities are old but well maintained and very clean, hot water was excellent and plenty of pressure. Don & Rosemary showed us the plans for the new amenities block being built in 2008, which will have a separate camp kitchen, baby bath and disabled toilets. They also appear to be investing heavily in water saving devices to make the building environmentally sustainable, which I think is fantastic. Rosemary advised Cassie that full details of the new building and its water and energy saving abilities will be listed on the parks website in Feb 08 - we will be keeping an eye on this for sure. I was amazed at the size of Waranga Basin on which the park is located on its banks the lake is 10km by 10km and had plenty of water, ideal for fishing and water skiing. The sites are of an average size but enough room for our van and awning and car park. Kiosk was well stocked and has an array of local attraction brochures. Loved the idea of keyed toilets, which provides security and assurances to customers, wasn't phased by paying the key deposit. All in all a great experience look forward to returning late 2008 to see the new amenities block. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, very good value for money ($21 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, no rec room, late checkout allowed (past noon), kiosk, dump point. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: The Lake adjacent to park, the adults hour in pool between 7 and 8pm.
Added Touches: Camp fires allowed drum available from office wood available in town. We didn't use as too hot but would be great in winter.

BIG4 Swan Hill Pioneer City Tourist Park, Swan Hill
About 1km from centre of town on the Murray valley Highway. Ph: 03 5032 4372. BIG4 member.
Easy to find: just on the western end of town on the western side of the railway line. The owners were in the office upon our arrival and it was nice to have friendly, smiling people in reception at a BIG4 park. The park is green and spacious. A number of native trees are around the park but not enough to make it look overcrowded. Some sites have concrete pads, some just nice green grass. The amenity block is clean and bright and the showers flow strong and hot. There are attractive curtains in the showers but one negative: the drying area is very small. Compared to many caravanners I am fairly slim but I found it difficult to dry myself properly and, to exit the shower cubicle, you have to step back into the shower to open the door. Plenty of washbasins with soap and paper towels provided. There is an excellent camp kitchen, with attractive tables and chairs, inside and out, full electric stove, microwave, fridge, etc, two barbecue areas with free electric BBQs, children’s playground, huge jumping pillow and a shaded swimming pool and toddler’s pool. There is a bike track and a tennis court. Suitable for overnight or extended stay.

There is cost variations between sited but it is worth the little extra to be next to the river. The ablution block is of good quality and well maintained and there is a central dump point. There is a large undercover BBQ area that is divided into smaller sections for individual parties to use. Management is helpful and provide assistance with parking. Response to complaints was good and bad. One thing I didn't like was when I made the booking I asked if there was access to the river from the sites as my dogs like swimming and was told no problem they can get in and swim. My dog got sick the day before and I tried to ring up to get a normal powered site but couldn't get through when I turned up I asked if I could be moved to a powered site (there was plenty available) and was told I booked a river site and that was where I had to stay. I said my dog isn't allowed near the water, she said well they can't get into it. I said well before I booked I asked if they could and I was told they could. Two different things told. They overcharged me, and said they refunded the discount to my card, but they never did, but when I emailed them to complain they rang me back the next morning and refunded the money straight away. Average staff friendliness, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site. Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($28.80 A1 per night powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, concrete annex slabs, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade. Dirty UC electric bbq (20c), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Likes: The sites I had was big and many overlooked the Murray River. It was within walking distance to town and the Pioneer Settlement, and after consulting with the management I was also allowed to leave my dogs unattended as they do not bark so I could walk to the Pioneer Settlement. It is also next to a big park and most attractions are within walking distance.
Dislikes: Even though my site was nice and in the end no access to the river, I did not like the way the lady in the office was when I was checking in. She overcharged me, and was not rude but not friendly. Even though they were busy, it is no excuse.
Parking: There was a parking bay when you check in.
Local Information: The Pioneer Settlement is within walking distance from the park, it is well worth a visit for a few hours and go on the paddle steamer. Walk into town, Swan Hill is quite a big town. there is the Giant Cod, old bridge.
Roads: Good road, came from Deniliquin, no problems. Road isn't that narrow and quite good.

Stayed 3 days, $26.10 member discount per night powered. walking distance to the CBD. We were charged $26.10 for Thursday night, but $27.90 member discount per night for Friday and Saturday night because it was the Labour Day long weekend in Victoria. We still felt that it was reasonable value for money. One thing you noticed about this park immediately on driving in was that it was very very green. Reception, which doubles as a kiosk, was friendly enough, with only so much information given as you asked for, not a miniscule more. The rules stated that you must be out by 10.00am on the day you were leaving, or the boom gate would not operate. A bit over the top I felt. But rules are rules!! We were given a site map with site 18 pointed out, which was located on the river opposite an amenities block. Ritchie showed us to our site but did not offer assistance, not even a smile. With neighbouring sites vacant, it was an easy drive into the site, so we were not put out. Our site was long, grassed, with some shade, right on the river. The car was parked in front of the van. The site was even, with slabs for both annex and van. I decided we should stay longer but Leszek said that we should make our decision in a day or so, and I am glad we did. Thursday night was quiet with neighbouring sites vacant. But on Friday night, when our neighbours came in for the long weekend, we realised how tight some of the sites were. The annex from the van next door was just a few inches from our van. Other sites in the park were much wider. As it was a long weekend, the park filled up quickly on the Friday night. Thursday night was quiet but Friday night the noise went on until 2.00am. As it was a long weekend we did not complain as we felt that the workers probably needed to relax. The amenities blocks, of which we saw 3, (one old block was closed for most of the time but opened Sat am), were very clean, and we found that the facilities could cope with the number of people. The laundry had 2 washing machines in the block nearest us and one dryer. One thing that I found hard to comprehend was that the laundry near our site was open from 8.00am, but the sprinklers under the clotheslines had been turned on before 8.00am and left on until 9.45am. When I queried Ritchie about this, he said the area needed watering. It was the greenest area in the park. So we all had to carry our washed laundry quite a way to other hanging areas. Clean 20c gas bbq were provided, together with a congenial UC bbq area with seating. Good playground in good condition with clean, shaded kid-safe pool. There is a dump point as you drive into the park. We were also given discount vouchers for local merchants. The trains across the road were no problem, we only heard one whistle once a day at 7.30am. This is a very well maintained park with workers visible keeping it in top condition. Unfortunately, on the Saturday night the noise continued until 1.30pm. I dialled the mobile number given under the "rules list" to see if anything could be done about the noise. The mobile number rang out, so I telephoned again. But it was now disconnected. They just did not want to know. I found this a great disappointment. On the whole this was a great park. We would gladly return, but would make sure it was not school holidays or a long weekend.
Date 03/2007. Park Rating 3: (would give it a 4 if they had followed their rules and kept the noise down)

Owners names are Doug and Leanne Ford and are extremely friendly. They spend a lot of their time out in the park attending to the lush green lawns which make the place look great. We stayed here because it was a long weekend and there was no accommodation available in Echuca. Also, we were quoted $47 for a powered site per night in Echuca whereas we are only paying $28 at Tongala for 2A 2C . The sites are average size with plenty of shade and some grass covering. Lots of open space with nice lush green grass where the kids were able to play soccer and cricket with plenty of room. Fenced pool area. Amenities clean, but would not cope in peak periods. Large selection of videos and boards games for hire from office at very reasonable prices. Current owners (8 months) have plans to erect a camp kitchen and put in more cabins as well as a playground. An extra clothesline would be handy. Free undercover BBQ area. A few onsite vans needed pressure cleaning on the outside. There were a few permanent vans but they were tidy. It is a very relaxing and comfortable park. We were glad that we stayed here as Echuca was very busy. We booked in for two nights and ended up staying four. We would definitely stay here again.

Wakiti Creek Resort, Yambuna
Located 25 km east of Echuca off the Murray Valley Highway. Ph: 03 5867 3237. Dogs on leash; you can bring your own horse.
Manager's name is Phil & Jayne. Friendly staff, staff helped us at the site. Price was much higher than expected ($48 A3 per night, powered, peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, drive-through sites. Good rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), good camp kitchen, kiosk. Noisy, open & roomy park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC bbq, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground. Clean pool is open to the sun, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Main part of park is grassy and well kept, the staff worked tirelessly in peak period (Easter) to clean and supervise & run the park during peak season
Dislikes: Dusty due to the dry conditions and traffic ignoring speed limits on unsealed roads. Noisy and overrun with kids due to being peak holiday period and geared towards families. The pool was in use by hoards of kids yelling and bombing all day and we did not really get the opportunity to use it. Not peaceful for anyone who is over kids yelling all day.
Added Touches: Campfire drums and wood provided at a small charge, ran movie nights on a big screen, (understandably kids movies due to ratings), ran Easter egg hunt and Easter bonnet parade.
Local Information: Somewhat isolated location.
Roads: Unsealed road access good condition.
