Likes: Good old fashioned campground, steel fire grid at most sites.

Dislikes: No complaints as we are free campers. This place has only bore water is not potable so bring your own for drinking. But in a
caravan you can have unlimited showers as long as you are willing to fill you tanks.
Parking: No probs. Most times plenty of room. No need to book ahead.
Added Touches: Showers are cold but if you boil water on the fire it can be pumped up to a holding tank for a nice hot shower.

This is a basic bush camping ground with no power, maintained by rangers. Septic toilets spaced among the sites with occasional cold water outside showers.
No water to sites, central tap with bore water only not for drinking. The sites are set among trees, well spaced out, with firepits, and all are only a short
stroll to a wonderful beach. The position is what makes this campground. Quiet and peaceful outside school holidays. There is a ballot system to get a site
in the summer school holidays. No mobile phone reception.

Wood bbqs (free), seating provided at bbq.

Likes: This is a plain campground, with a drop toilet within walking distance. There are plenty of permanent plate and combined
hanging barbecues, and fires are permitted. It is beside the Dargo River. I could not want more. I put it down as a 3 due to facilities
but it is a 5 in actual fact as a camp site. The drop toilet is ok to use as a dump point if you have no chemicals in the van loo, and
that is taking all the hard work out of camping.
Dislikes: Nothing, but bring or go get your own fire wood.
Local Information: This site is 6kms from Dargo. It has a general store, two pubs and meals available every day. The beer is great

Amenities vastly inadequate to cope for the number of tourists and permanents that this park could handle.
Only 5 mens toilets and 4 mens showers for the while park, and similar for ladies. Plans for more.
Nil night lighting. Several large shelters near bbqs, but no lights at the bbq itself. Twice the lights/power went off at the shelters.
Water at taps is supposedly from the creek. $20 bond for key, plus $20 bond for dog.
The roads are dirt and because it rained for 2 days of the 3 there, the roads were slushy.
The ground did not drain well and so it didn't take long for mud to ooze up through the grass around the
van as you walked on it, so it was a struggle keeping it out of the van. The permanents that were there were all very friendly.
Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Price was as expected, poor value for money ($35 2A 1C per night, powered, off-peak season).
Inadequate number of amenities, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor,

Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere, a few permanents.
Clean electric bbq (20c - took 60c to cook as small meal).
Good playground in good condition.
No pool, but a river (creek) runs beside the park and is popular in summer.
Suitable for few days, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Dislikes: Only now laying new taps and power poles. No sullage. No camp kitchen, however the
majority of the peak season users are unpowered sites.

Didn't explain rules or regulations especially about parking and boat moorings. Told us that the regulars usually know what's

showers went ice cold at times. I think it happened when the taps outside over dishwashing sinks were used. The amenities
were not very clean and I've never seen so many cobwebs. The amenities are very old. The park lighting didn't work.

We visited this park towards the end of the Victorian school holidays so it was, naturally, very busy. It is a very well run park with boom gate
access as well as a locked pedestrian gate. The grounds were beautifully kept and the communal areas were immaculate. There were quite a few staff
members around. Once the school holidays were finished it was very peaceful but even during the holidays it was relatively quiet at night. The large
powered sites are quite long more than wide and have a good annexe pad and driveway strip. The ensuites were excellent. It is an excellent park to use
as a base to explore the Bass Coast, Phillip Island and Wilsons Promontory. The heated indoor pool complex and camp kitchen are both very new and of a very high standard.
Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities.

We went to Inverloch for the first time and were very pleasantly surprised by the town and the holiday park. The park has a very friendly
atmosphere. It is definitely great for the kids with a fantastic playground which includes a jumping pillow (which I couldn't get my kids off).
The staff are very helpful and friendly and more than happy to help if needed. It was one of our first times towing the van so the park
supervisor was very helpful and backed the van on site for us. The park is very clean and tidy. Inverloch is definitely on our list to
revisit and for longer next time. They had a pool under construction which would be a very good addition.
Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Price was as expected, very good value for money ($35 2A per night powered).
Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure

by, adequate sullage close by.
Good laundry, good rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), good camp kitchen, dump point, secure entry.
Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere.
Clean UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq.

Manager's name is Peter & Margot.
This park has 80 odd sites with only 6 or 7 reserved for tourists. The rest of the sites are retained for
annuals (people who leave their van on site and pay an annual fee). It is therefore a very basic park which
provides a site with power and water and an amenities block. Many caravanners are happy with this, but it is
not reflected in the fees, however, it is still cheaper than the other two parks and the foreshore. The park
is quite much of the time except for peak periods and long weekends etc.
Friendly staff.
Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($25 2A per night, powered, off-peak season).
Amenities are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was
adequate hot water.
Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, no sites with
concrete annex slabs, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by.
Basic laundry, no rec room.
Quiet, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade.
No bbqs. Basic playground in average condition. No pool.
Suitable for few days, well maintained park.
Likes: Across the road from the beach. Park was quiet when visited.
Dislikes: Sites were small, both in width and depth. Most were only suitable for a van with a body length of around 16 or 17ft.
Parking: Office is located in house opposite Park. Parking is available on grass out the front of house.
Local Information: Inverloch is a coastal town offering wonderful scenery and lots of good eating
places. The larger of the two fish shops has superb fish and chips. It is only a short drive to Wonthaggi, a thriving town with most facilities.

Very welcoming and friendly owners, and quiet surroundings. Two amenities blocks - the top one (main) appears slightly newer, and the
showers have screen doors so the change area is dry. The lower block was still clean, but not as well set up and ventilation is not as
good. No Vodafone internet signal, but Telstra was fine. We could pick up TV from Melbourne (Ch 2, 3 and 7 variants only) by pointing
antenna to 315 degrees Magnetic - horizontal polarization. One good playground near the park reception, along with tennis courts. Another
more basic playground near the creek. We were lucky enough to arrive for the Wednesday night BBQ put on by the owners every second Wednesday
night, proceeds to local ambulance service. Happy hour is held each night at 4:30. Current owners are planning to retire in June 2011 - I
hope their son Darren or other new owners can carry on the good work.

The park is in a valley down from the town and due to the steep hill it would be a difficult walk into the main street. You are assured of a
warm welcome at this friendly park although the current owners may soon be moving on. Some sites are on slopes but many are on the flat. Park
is in a very pretty setting with plenty of shade and surrounded by parks and gardens. Quite a few permanents but the locals are friendly.
Amenities are modern and very clean. It is worth staying here simply to see the decorations in the undercover BBQ area. Good Optus wireless signal.

We spent 4 nights at this park in a deluxe cabin, it suited our requirements. Only negative would be that our cabin is in need of some new pillows for a comfortable night's sleep. It is close to
the main shops to top up on supplies and other places to eat out. Walking distance to everything. The owners mow the camp sites every time someone leaves in readiness for the next booking. The pool is a
good size with not too much of a chlorine smell & the beach is not that far away either. Had a look at other places in nearby location and its one of the best. Owners keep to themselves any contact we had
was pleasant and they were very helpful. If you've got a young family and looking for somewhere to pitch a tent then you should consider this park as an option. It's not a huge park, sites and cabin mean a
tight fit for all buts it's ok. Games room for the kids and camp kitchen with TV too. Most accommodation places in the area are looking a bit dated, this park whilst having the basics you'd expect was quiet
and comfortable. If you want the latest & greatest, granite stone bench tops, flat screens then maybe a motel is a better option or just stay home, but we were happy and will have no hesitation in rebooking
another time. Our only regret was not having another night or two to stay.

to the lakes on an eco cruise boat which was super. There are heaps of eateries including clubs and cafes, seafood, the usual franchises Mackas and KFC etc. There was
a lovely walk across a bridge to the surf where you can have a cup of coffee at the little cafe. We started a conversation with a few people and we all ended up walking
over and having a cup of coffee together. There are a lot of places where you can hire out little put-puts and explore the lakes. When we were out exploring the lakes we

We stayed at Koonwarra again over Christmas/New Year for 2 weeks. Our first visit was last year and we are returning again next Christmas.
Amentities at the park are very clean and quite adequate. The park is a very quiet, family friendly park with both young children and teenagers
holidaying with their parents. I would have to say it is one of the quietest parks I have stayed in especially over such a busy time. A credit
to the parents of children. The staff are very friendly which also goes for the people who stay there. It is situated close to all facilites well
within walking distance to everything needed. Unfortunately they seem to be in the process of selling up a lot of the camp sites for holiday units,
I hope this doesn't happen too soon. A great place for a holiday.

First time visitors to Lakes Entrance. There were so many parks there that decided to call into info center for recommendations. We were looking for something reasonably priced (had been paying up to
$64 PN peak season on our drive south from the Gold Coast). Gave us 3 parks and said the 3rd option was a fully ensuited park so would probably be a bit dearer. Drove past the first two options - they
looked OK - but stopped at the third, Lakes Haven. The park owners Helen & Pete were so nice & friendly right from the start. Due to it being peak season told us the site was $50 2A PN. Looked at the
ensuite & took the site. Jack's not too confident at backing onto sites - not a problem & by the time I'd paid for our two night's stay the van was parked & Pete & Jack were having a good laugh. The park
doesn't have a pool or jumping castle, but that was fine by us. Got talking to Pete & Helen, and happened to mention that one of the clamps that holds down the pop top had snapped off - happened on our
way to Lakes Entrance. Jack & I went grocery shopping & when we returned half an hour later the clamp rivets had been replaced by Pete and all looked like new again. Lakes Haven is a small caravan park in
a quiet street, one block back from the water. It's a beautifully maintained park with lots of trees & garden - we even had a park bench beside our slab for our own use. The day we arrived Helen was busy
in the garden and the immaculate grounds are a credit to them both - they do it all. Helen's the gardener & Pete's the handyman. The ensuite was spotless and our shower had great pressure. When we return
north will definitely be staying at Lakes Haven and stay longer this time.

Manager's name is Peter Carcas & Helen Gray.
This is only a small park but very quiet and beautifully maintained with immaculate gardens and lawns. We were expertly guided onto our site by Peter, who then stayed
around until we set up to make sure we were ok. As this is a small park each site has an ensuite which made it excellent value, $30 per night 2A. There are no children's
facilities but that made it even more attractive to us. The other thing we liked was that Peter & Helen address everyone by their first names, in other (big) parks you
tend to only be a site number.
Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Very good value for money ($30 2A per night, ensuite, off-peak season).

Lakes Haven is a small, very neat & tidy park. Every site has an ensuite. The sites are a bit tight for the larger van but it was very quiet

My name is Jason Veith and I, along with my wife Fiona, are the new owners of the North Arm Tourist Park since March this year.
Our normal sites are 10 m by 6 m in size, and I have had no difficulty in accommodating vans up to 24 ft in these sites. I guess there isn't a lot of
manoeuvring room in our driveways, but I think the sites are a good size. Sites have annexe mats on them.
We also have six "double" sites (20m x 6 m) that can be used to accommodate large vans, motor homes, buses and 5th wheelers. We have had at least three 50ft buses park
happily in our park, and we have easily accommodated a number of large motor homes (with attached Suzuki Vitara's), as well as a number of 5th wheelers. These particular sites are also popular
with people who wish to "stay hitched", and the sites are easily drive-through.
Our location on the lakefront. Many guests have expressed to us their delight at the park outlook and location. There is a private jetty with boat mooring available for guests.

about this place is clean, controlled and well organised. BBQ area, camp kitchen, laundry and amenities areas are all spotless. A supermarket is across
the road, newsagent, restaurants and cafes are close by and you can walk across the footbridge thru the sand hills to the ocean, about 500m from your van.

Manager's name is Donna & Ron.
Like the other caravan parks in Lakes Entrance (there are 14 we were told) Sunnyside is an old park with small sites. Being off season we were put
in the camping section where we had sullage, water and power close to our site, which was a level section of grass. Perfectly adequate for a large RV -
but in busy season - the van sites are all small with concrete slabs. They would take up to an 18 ft van. The park has no permanents but many annuals, few
of whom were present during our 5 day stay. The amenities block is small (2 toilets/2 showers in the male and 3 toilets/2 showers in the female section).
These were clean and despite their age were in reasonable condition, freshly painted. There is a laundry with 2 washing machines and a dryer - all appeared
new. There is a camp kitchen and two barbeque areas with a basic children's playground and a pool nearby. WiFi (free) is available at a site near the office
and the park is pet friendly. Night lighting is inadequate - you will need a torch to move around. Another drawback is the southern sites are adjacent to a
child care facility, and the noise starts early. Sunnyside is close to the main street and to a supermarket with only a short walk to the beach. Management
was pleasant and helpful. This is a park you would bypass in most coastal holiday towns, but it is one of the better parks in Lakes Entrance. A cycle through
the other parks indicated only two seemed better in general condition and amenities. One was Silver Sands, but this had quite small sites, and the other
Eastern Gardens, was a bit far from the town for us. The off season price (2A) for a powered site was a very reasonable @ $22.50 per night.

Managed by the Uniting Church.
This could be a lovely park. Unfortunately once again the caravan/camping section plays second fiddle to the cabin section which has lush green grass and easy access.
The roads within the park are extremely narrow with overhanging trees and the sites are incredibly difficult to get on. We had the only drive through site and had to drive
around the entire park to find a road where we could get the van in, the park is certainly not capable of taking anything larger than 20 ft caravans. This park is run by the
Uniting Church and appears to cater more for groups and schools rather than the casual traveller.

This park is in a wonderful location. Right on the water. It was difficult to place our large 8.25m van. It was quiet so they gave us 3 sites side by side
and in general the staff were lovely. It was very difficult to level the van and the sullage ran uphill. Amenities would have trouble coping during peak times
and could really use a revamp, although they were clean. We really enjoyed our stay here in September but with over 50 boat moorings attached to the park it
would be crazy in summer. From memory, we were told this is the largest park in Australia and I have no idea how the amenities would ever cope with the amount
of people. All in all a lovely park but keep it for off season if you can. We found it very peaceful in September. A longish drive from the highway but worth it.
I think we paid $18 per night for 3 nights, I doubt you can beat that.

This is a huge park, over 750 caravan and camp sites and not a permanent or cabin in sight. Right in the township easy stroll to shops and pub.
The park is actually in 2 sections, 1 is owned by the council, the other by the community, all managed by council staff. There are no ensuite sites,
and no concrete slabs so you are at the mercy of the weather, and didn't we cop it, water through our annex on a number of occasions (the lakes flooded while we were there).

Likes: great location, handy to water, close to shops, hotel etc. great fishing, fishermen are really catered for by the council, plenty of
jetties to fish off, walking trails/cycleways etc
Dislikes: no concrete slabs, no clothes lines, too far to walk to the garbage bins, up to 200m to the dumpmaster bins, no bins anywhere near
the sites. Too much dust from passing cars even though we had plenty of rain. The yobbos disregarded the 10km speed limit and this created a danger for children.
Parking: not much room to park while checking in
Added Touches: Open fires allowed and supplied
Local Information: good meals at the hotel, dinner starts at 6pm, people queue up from 5.45pm so get there early

Huge park which must be chaos when full. There are 6 amenity blocks but only 1 was open at the time of our visit. Refurbishment is due to commence on

Mallacoota is at the end of a narrow and windy road, 25 km from Hwy 1, but well worth a visit. Drive right into the small town and head
towards the water. The park is at the end of the small main street. You can't miss it due to its size. Location, location, location.
Brilliantly situated on prime real estate overlooking the pristine lake with views out to sea. You can get a waterfront site for $30 but most of
the cheaper sites have an excellent outlook over the lake. This is reported to be the biggest park in the Southern Hemisphere with more than 700 sites.
Imagine the place at Xmas time with 700 dogs and one starts barking. The sites are pretty informal and some are uneven. The facilities are well worn and
typical of a large beachside council park. There is a well equipped camp kitchen. Bakery, supermarkets, newsagent and other shops are all a short walk away.
This is a basic 'no-frills' park in a sensational spot. There is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to the place. Many people are here on extended stays with
fishing the main attraction. The lake cruise with Capt George and his First Mate Pam leaves from the town wharf in the caravan park and is a wonderful experience.

Half of this park is onsite permanents and they are closest to the beach. The majority of tourist sites are a block away from the beach.
While the sites are a reasonable size, during peak periods there does not seem to be any controls on how many people can camp per site.
Vans, camper trailers and tents are all over the place with no thought given to the possibility of a quick evacuation in an emergency.
The amenities block on the tourist area does not cope during peak times and the cleaning is only once a day when it should be at least 3
times a day with the numbers that are crammed in. The water pressure in the amenities is dangerous with the water temperature swinging
wildly from scalding hot to freezing cold without notice. Security on the park is very ordinary. Children have the run of the park and
treat it as a playground with ball sports, soccer and cricket, going on continuously with no regard of balls slamming into vehicles and vans.

Office is only attended 4 hours a day, 2 in am and 2 in pm, although a mobile number is provided. Roads are narrow therefore some
sites are a little difficult to access. Some sites have no sullage. Park itself was fairly quiet but freight and passenger trains
at night were disturbing plus the local hoons frequented the road along the side of the park at night to display their cars and skills.
Reasonably good BBQ shelter but BBQs badly needed a good clean. The grass around and under the longer term vans badly needs cutting.
Some of the permanent vans which were in a disgusting state of disrepair needed moving out of sight. The best part was the amenities
but the rest of the park needs some TLC.

Management very friendly and helpful, no probelm extending our stay - park was half empty. Lives up to its name bushland wise, kookaburras,
king parrots and cockatoos everywhere. We were given a map and directed to where our cabin was. It was a very basic cabin with no en-suite but
right across from amenities so no problem. Very clean cabin, excellent value for money. Pool, tennis court, pitch and putt golf, volleyball,
table tennis. Large open games room with TV.
Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Price was lower than expected, very good value for money ($50 2A per night cabin).
Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate
hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation.
Good laundry, basic rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), good camp kitchen, kiosk, van parking.
Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere.
Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq.
Good playground in good condition.
Clean heated pool is open to the sun, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided.
Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: The bushland setting, the price - much cheaper than anything in Lakes Entrance, the atmosphere - very quiet (besides the birds,
which was actually quite pleasant).
Dislikes: The BBQ could probably do with a going over but it was fine once we'd given it a scrape.
Local Information: Well positioned half way between Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance so a good base to explore all the Gippsland Lakes.
Do not however eat at the Nicholson Hotel - absolutely terrible meal! Get some fresh seafood and BBQ it instead!! The fish co-op in Lakes Entrance is excellent.
Roads: Stephensons Road may be a touch narrow for vans but should be ok - sealed road, roads into and round the park are gravel.

Manager's name is Greg & Jenny.
We pulled into this camp at 7.30pm, desperate for a sleep (and a hot shower) and it was the only place we could find that had room and allowed dogs.
The manager Greg, was a real character and very helpful and welcoming; walking hubby over to the site to have a look before we parked the van (23ft).
Sites were roomy, level, easy access. Grounds were park-like & well maintained, amenities block was spotlessly clean. One of the most hospitable parks we've
stumbled across. Fantastic overnighter or longer to base yourself to explore the area.

Located in a suburban area of Paynesville, not near the water. It is a very nice park, you have the choice of large, level, well-marked grassy sites or large level

We stayed at an ensuite site that cost $35 per night 2A, school holidays, before member discount. The ensuites are fairly new and
well set up, although a few more towel or clothes hooks would be nice. These sites have concrete slabs and are all level. At the
time of our stay, there were 7 ensuite sites, about 14 powered sites and lots of cabins and permanent vans. No Vodafone internet
reception, but Telstra internet was always better than strength 2. TV reception from Bairnsdale was patchy.

Many cabins. Many on-site vans too but all out of sight behind office area. Room for about ten tourist vans on grassed slope in front of office,
slightly terraced and shaded. Need blocks/ramps to level van. Tendency to be muddy, especially when site higher up discharges grey water which pools
outside your door. Power, water and sullage grid conveniently placed. Also sewage disposal points conveniently placed on sites; never seen that before.
Unfortunately unable to lift plug from pipe; looked like nobody else ever had either - no way to get a grip. Toilets clean, close by and adequate.
Laundry dirty, wash cost $4, drier broken, clothes line positioned at convenient height if you are 6' 2". Managers and staff very pleasant and helpful.
Children's playground but no pool. Park located in centre of island so 15 minute (max) drive to any coastal location. Cowes is a nice, sleepy town on N
coast, Grand Prix race circuit ten mins away, penguins 15 mins, Koala Conservation Park across the road. Roads on the island are mostly sealed and in
reasonable condition. Island is mainly cleared farmland with sheep and cattle. Many wild Cape Barren Geese. Cost was $29 2A per night powered. Reasonably quiet
during day, quiet at night. Sites rather small - we were given two sites as our 21' caravan was considered big. Suitable for a few days.

Friendly reception staff, tourist advice and park layout explained. Park is small a lot of permanent sites. Sites mostly level, grassed, but some
difficult to back into with perm vans and narrow roads, would not like to attempt backing in a larger van. Playground & games room are small, kids
still enjoyed them. Indoor heated pool was great, clean and a decent size. Free UC bbq area nicely set out (part of camp kitchen). Amenities block
small, 2 toilets, 3 showers, very clean. Park is nice and quiet just a short walk to the beach (bay side). Barely enough room to park car on site
once van and annexe were set up. Suitable for a few days. Liked the free Playstation games in games room for the kids and the indoor heated pool.
Disliked the small site and narrow roads.

Quite well located and has the potential to be really good, but in the end is very ordinary. It is untidy and needs some TLC. Staff are
friendly and efficient at the office but stale cigarette smell is a real turnoff. The amenities are clean but tired and we didn't understand the
need for benches that sloped from back to front so that items left slipped off. It is overpriced but we would stay again - maybe.

Likes: This is a very large park with boat launch area. There are lots of grassed areas and walking track to town,
11km return trip. Staff were very friendly and sites and amenities were kept clean. They allowed wood fires in fire boxes.
Dislikes: There was a lot of very old permanent vans on site which did tend to bring the general look of the park down.
The fires which were lit were very smoky and although a lot of travellers do not mind, I personally prefer fresh air. I can
stay in Melbourne and smell wood smoke. The toilet area although clean many of the cubicles lacked toilet paper.
Parking: We pulled up at the office and staff showed us to our site immediately even before we registered, they were exceedingly friendly
Added Touches: There was a sign regarding a courtesy bus to Port Albert though I did not see the bus personally, there
was a boat ramp of sorts which is quite adequate for tinnies though larger craft would need to go to Port Albert which was
5km away. No fish cleaning allowed in the park. Contained fires in a fire pot were allowed.
Local Information: This is a fishing area and there is a very nice Jetty in Port Albert, There is a restaurant on the
pier and their take away fish and chips were the best. The town itself is practically nonexistent other than the restaurant
and the local pub. The nearest town of reasonable size is Yarram which has everything you would want or expect for country
Victoria and is 10km from caravan park.
Roads: All roads in the area were good. We came via Traralgon and though the hills were quite a challenge to tow a 21ft
van up the roads were in good condition.

Although the sites could get a little tight during busy times. The amenities were clean but 2 toilets and 2 showers in our block seemed inadequate. There was a
very nice laundry and camp kitchen. A nice enough park but only ever an overnighter for us.

I love this park, but the price is now very high for a powered site, was wanting to stay longer but couldn't as I could stay 2 nights in other caravan parks
for the price of 1 night here. Pity as this is one of the best dog friendly caravan parks around. Has about 5 off-leash areas each with a toy box
(which one of them loved). Some of the powered sites were fenced which is great, unhook and freedom, the cabins are fenced too. Wildlife around, koalas, wombats,
parrots etc, shows that wildlife and dogs can co exist with common sense, not scared of people or dogs. Agility playground, free dog hydrobath. Everything is catered
for your dog. Hard to level the van though as sites are sloping. No mobile or internet connection but was so peaceful.

My husband David and I are the new owners of the caravan park as of February 2011. Our aim is to bring up the standard of the park, but keep it
in a natural setting without the regimented feel that you get from some of the other caravan parks. High on our agenda is maintenance and cleanliness.
We have spoken to lots of the campers and have welcomed their feedback. The fact that we don't have internet, mobile reception or TV reception is a
plus to them because they can come away and leave their work etc at home, and have a quiet relaxing time. One camper described the park as
"camping in the bush, but with toilets and showers". We welcome any comments that may help us to improve the comforts and needs of our guests.

Dislikes: We needed quite a lot of packing under one side to level the van on our drive-through site. But, hey, ten mins fixed it.

Basic park, loads of open space, big sites, virtually no shade. Noise from planes can be annoying. Older amenities block had no
soap holders or curtains on the rods in showers. New block has these items. Lack of rubbish bins, no recycle bins. Closest bin was
full and smelly and not emptied during 3 days we were there. Amenities block not cleaned every day. Office and shop closed much of
the time. Sign said "only ring bell if booking in".
Average management, friendly management. Reasonable value for money.
Average amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, close to sites, were in good condition, water pressure was okay,
there was adequate hot water.
Good sites, adequate number of tourist sites, sites were level, lighting at night was adequate, the site size was okay,

One of the nicest parks we've stayed in. The staff gave us a warm welcome on arrival and were always helpful. We found the site numbering hard to follow and
this was exacerbated by reception (reportedly) telling some caravanners to park ON the concrete, leaving a wide gap on one side but no room for a neighbour on the
other. The sites are on beautiful, lush green grass with concrete annexe pads. Unlike most grass parks, there were no worn patches anywhere. We didn't need to wash
hoses, cables, etc when packing up, everything was lovely and clean. The whole park is level with taps/electricity/sullage conveniently placed. The amenities block
was conveniently located, clean and modern with soap and a hot air dryer. The laundry is adequately equipped. A dump point is provided. The town centre is close by
car or ten mins away along a pleasant walking track adjacent to the park. If there is a down side it would be the railway which runs just behind some trees but
the rails are welded (so no 'clickety clack') and the noise was not a problem as the trains were short and fast. Our internet modem received a strong signal (Telstra)
but data transfer was very slow, especially during office hours. We tried logging on at the McDonald's restaurant but that was just as bad. It appears to be a Warragul
problem. The park doesn't have a wireless connection for campers. The cost was $30 per night, powered site, 2A, 7th night free, late February. Would we stay again
Too right we would.

Likes: We love this park; it's really is like staying at a large garden. There is also a "retired section" within the park with wonderful
cabins and again gardens. The mix of caravan people, tourist cabins and retired cabins works so well. The train station is a short walk and you
could use this park as a base for day trips to Melbourne city.
Dislikes: It's a little expensive.
Local Information: Warragul is a regional town about 1 hour from Melbourne City. It's set in green hills and the surrounding area is great
dairy country. You can visit some small towns close. Local tourist attractions are the Music Village, small railway and pretty drives in forests to the north.

This is a huge park with well in excess of 450 sites plus huts, units, lodges and retreats. Only 20 powered sites. Very expensive at $41.50 per night for
2 adults in low peak period. This price also applies for up to 8 people. Seems unfair and certainly not worth it.

Likes: If you haven't been to Wilsons Promontory then you are missing out; Its Gods country, absolutely breathtaking.
Bush walking, perfect kids beach in Tidal River. You won't find a better little river that runs into the ocean that is good for all kids ages.
Dislikes: Some of the sites lacked grass which would have made for a dusty dirty stay without the tarps we put down.
We stayed on the very few limited power sites at the Prom and these had got a bit of a hammering as expected.
Didn't affect our stay one bit, girls had a small whinge about dust in van. I say who cares.
Local Information: Great fishing off the rocks at Squeaky Beach and little Squeaky if you're getting adventurous and like a little walk to a secluded beach.
Flatheads and whiting caught in late January

Room to park at reception. Office on restricted hours. Maybe phone with arrival time first. The majority of the space at this park has been
allocated to permanent living units. A large proportion of the rest is occupied by annuals some of which look very unkempt. The balance are
tourist sites (maybe 15 or so). Most are small and would better suit a 16-17ft van. They are indispersed with the annuals which tends to make
this park a bit messy. However the indoor pool and the amenities are of a high standard which means that some time in the past this would have
been a nice park. The other park in town is a disaster so if it is Wonthaggi you want to stay then this is it. Restricted office hours can be
inconvenient. Lovely large town with the lot. Short drive to Inverloch and the coast.

I know it was winter and we had had a bit of rain but the park entry consisted of potholes filled with water. Grass had not been mown for a while.
There appeared to be only one powered tourist site though there were several unpowered sites. The powered site may be difficult to negotiate if the
unpowered site across from it is not vacant.
Staff not present when we arrived (as daughter was in hospital). We paid for three nights but left after two as we couldn't cope another night. No
offer was made about reimbursement though details of noise complaints were taken.
Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints.
Price was as expected, poor value for money ($20 2A per night powered).

Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close

Likes: Soft toilet paper.
Dislikes: We stayed two nights. First night behind us a war was going on with bashing on the cabin wall/door, people yelling and swearing.
Second night music (varying volumes) until 4am from site on S side. No night lighting where we were so stepped into puddles.
Local Information: We were at Wonthaggi for dog walks. There are several areas where these are quite good. There is a wetlands area and rail
trail in Wonthaggi, with other good walks in Inverloch and Cape Paterson.

Manager's name is Mary and Tony.
We visited in the first week of January, 2011, the same week we spent there in 2009 (just prior to the Black Saturday bushfires).
The park is close to Wilsons Promontory National Park and has its own beach frontage. The beach is tidal so suffers from seaweed at low tides. It is a great fishing spot.
We booked an unpowered site for seven nights and 2 powered sites for eight nights, a point that I confirmed by phone prior to our departure and again upon arrival as the original booking
receipt that was posted out to us had the wrong duration (we were charged the correct amount for the correct durations though).
We were unceremoniously ejected after 7 nights as they had double booked the final night. They run the booking system using an A3 piece of paper with all sites drawn in on grid
lines. They use yellow highlight pen to shade in the bookings. It's my belief that the receipt book had the correct booking but the A3 Site sheet had one night less mapped out.
Despite our protestations we were still ejected at dinner time on the 7th night, havinbg been refunded the money for the last night (why refund the money if they were not wrong)
having to drive home through a storm and in the dark.
We'll never go there again.

This is predominantly a fishing area. This is a big park with a very small area allocated for tourists. Majority of park is annuals,
permanent vans and cabins. Manager at check in was very unfriendly, like he was doing us a favour by checking us in. Sites are fairly small,
we would have struggled to get our annexe up in the space we had. Suspect it would be a very noisy park in the peak period and amenities would struggle to cope.
Unfriendly staff.

We stayed on an ensuite site. The ensuite units were small, but still quite serviceable. The main complaint about them
was that there was virtually no ventilation (a vent in the roof, but no way for air to get into the unit) and I reckon these would
be stifling in summer. Also, there is no light outside the ensuite, and not much light from elsewhere in the park. We checked out
the amenities block, and these appeared clean and tidy. A stack of floor mats were provided, and a laundry bin, so after your shower you
put your mat in the bin for washing - a neat arrangement. The amenities looked like they would cope with the tourist requirements. TV reception
(aim antenna 320 degrees magnetic, horizontal polarization) was reasonable for most channels.
Friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Reasonable value for money ($32 2A per night, ensuite, peak season).
