Stayed 3 days, $21 p/n, powered site. OzParks member. We were greeted by Tony who suggested that site 83 would
be suitable for us (as Leszek wanted to do some fishing and this was near the jetty). He told us that as the site behind
83 was vacant, we could just drive through. It turned out an excellent site for us near the amenities block and laundry.
The site had level concrete slabs for the van and annex, was grassed, and a little shade. It was freezing and windy when
we arrived so were not desperate for shade. The amenities block was old but clean, and major maintenance work commenced
on it the day we were leaving. The laundry was clean and the water pressure good. There is plenty of line space. The
amenity block near the entry of the park is newer and spotless. The powered sites in the entry area do not have shade,
and there is a large grassed camping area. We did not try the free electric bbq's but used our own. The Lantern Chinese
restaurant over the road was good value. We had read previous reports on this park and wished to try it, mainly because
of the fishing. We enjoyed our stay in this park, (within walking distance of town), because it was quiet, clean, the
gardens were well maintained (mulch was being laid around the flower beds near the cabins), and we found the highway
noise minimal. In fact, we slept like logs for our three-night stay. Leszek caught a few bream off the nearby jetty,
mostly legal size, and a trevally, but as I could not bear them gasping for air I threw each fish back into the water
as he caught it. If they arrive home dead, then I cook them. He also caught an eel but lost it in the snags in the water.
We saw lots of carp but they were not biting. We would definitely stay in this park again but Leszek suggested that instead
of going fishing with him, I should go shopping!

Friendly greeting and directions to site, then didn't see management for the rest of the 4 days. Amenity block to the east of park
a bit basic but clean; 3 showers, 3 toilets (plus invalid for each), 4 basins, and a hand-dryer. Good laundry.
Clean pool with toddlers area. Oz Park member.
Good camp kitchen with 2 free clean electric bbqs. Another UC free electric bbq at east end of park with lighting, but took ages
to heat the stainless steel hotplate so I gave up and used the van griller. Jetty below this other bbq, great for fishing - people
caught 6 good sized (well above legal) flathead one day - no luck other days. Quiet park, shaded sites in the middle area, open sites
around the sides. A storm came thru on Good Friday night and leaves from trees everywhere - but just added colour and fun for kids -
and before that park was tidy. Excellent skateboard park over highway in local park, and good playground and BMX track over road
bridge to east of park. Power, water and sullage to sites. Sites are level with wheel pads and annexe pads.
Although next to the
highway, road noise was not a problem for us. $23 for 2A plus $6 per child, per night powered, which is good value for Easter.
Likes: Quiet, close to town.
Local Information: Fishing tackle shop in town east of McDonalds, good advice.
Parking: Park to the left before office in front of pool when booking in. Plenty of room to park car in front of van.

ventilation, disabled facilities.
Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, drive-through sites,
adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by.
Good laundry, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities, plenty of shade.

Bemm River Camping Park, Bemm River
Sydenham Inlet Road, 500m north of hotel. Turn off Princes Highway east of Orbost. Ph: 03 5158 4216. Pets allowed on leash.
Stayed 3 nights $22.00 p/n powered site. We arrived to find a sign on the door "working in the garden - pick your
site and pay later". We picked our site towards the middle of the park. It was large, level, on dirt and we had
some shade. We thought the price was OK. Only one amenity block close to most sites, although old, was clean but
would not cope if park was full. Basic clean laundry with good water pressure and plenty of outside lines. Water
pressure in our van shower was a bit on the slow side. We arrived on Thursday pm, when the park was nearly empty.
But on Friday night lots of vans came in, as did people who owned "permanent" vans on site. But it never got noisy,
just friendly. We were going to stay for one night but decided to stay for 3. We were told it could get very hectic
in the holiday period and you needed to book ahead. It was a fisherman's paradise and this could be seen with the
boats parked near the "permanent" vans/cabins. Pets were allowed and were no problem. One of the reasons we stayed
longer was that it was a peaceful, well-maintained park, and the meals at the pub up the road were excellent. We had
three dinners there, all delicious and value for money. There is nothing much at Bemm River except the small
post-office/corner store, some small "motels/units" and a great pub - a great place for fishing and a good rest.
We would certainly return.

Bruthen Caravan Park, Bruthen
When the caretaker came over to the car when we arrived we asked the price and was told $14, and he said,
"is that fair enough?". We had 2 kids clearly visible. While we reversed we asked our 2 kids to get out of the car,
and they stood near the caretaker. After we had set up and were kicking a footy, the caretaker came over and asked
for another $12 for the kids, citing that he didn't know we had any kids. We refused to pay a single cent more, purely
on principle, packed up and left, staying at a wayside stop about 10 kms north of town. The park is basic, shady.
There is an oval next door which is the only place you can have ball games anyway (another thing the caretaker told us later).

Cann River Caravan Park, Cann River
Ph: 03 5158 6369. Princes Highway, on Melbourne side of town, just across river.
This is a basic, overnighter park. It is quiet, with old but clean and well functioning amenities, but no frills. A five
minute walk to Cann River town for meals in the hotel, but be warned, chef goes home at 8 pm! Spacious sites allowed us to
remain hooked up. At $23 it is not cheap but, heck, it's just an overnighter, and it is clean. Not much late night traffic on
highway out there either.

We had a very nice 3 days at this site, its clean and tidy and sites are quite
well grassed, the facilities are spotless. We were given a map on arrival with vacant sites listed and told to choose what we
wanted, we chose no 67 which was a large grassed site just a fence away from the beach. We prefer Phillip Island in the off
season as it can be very crowded at holiday time, however Cowes Caravan Park would be very suitable for an extended stay for
any families any time. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for

Glen Cromie Caravan Park, Drouin
850 Main Neerim Road. Ph: 03 5626 8414. Member of Caravan Parks Victoria. Family Parks member.Pets at manager's discretion, $20 bond.
Amenities vastly inadequate to cope for the number of tourists and permanents that this park could handle.
Only 5 mens toilets and 4 mens showers for the while park, and similar for ladies. Plans for more.
Nil night lighting. Several large shelters near bbqs, but no lights at the bbq itself. Twice the lights/power went off at the shelters.
Water at taps is supposedly from the creek. $20 bond for key, plus $20 bond for dog.
The roads are dirt and because it rained for 2 days of the 3 there, the roads were slushy.
The ground did not drain well and so it didn't take long for mud to ooze up through the grass around the
van as you walked on it, so it was a struggle keeping it out of the van. The permanents that were there were all very friendly.
Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Price was as expected, poor value for money ($35 2A 1C per night, powered, off-peak season).
Inadequate number of amenities, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor,
water pressure is bad, there was adequate hot water, dryer provided, no soap.
Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites,
no sites with concrete annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, drive-through sites, poor water quality.
Basic laundry, no rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), secure entry.
Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere, a few permanents.
Clean electric bbq (20c – took 60c to cook as small meal).
Good playground in good condition.
No pool, but a river (creek) runs beside the park and is popular in summer.
Suitable for few days, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Dislikes: Only now laying new taps and power poles. No sullage. No camp kitchen, however the
majority of the peak season users are unpowered sites.
Parking: When booking in, park in front of office. When booking out, inadequate parking after exiting boom gate.
Added Touches: Free kids disco on long weekends.

When I first arrived I asked for a park map and was told he didn't have one but there was one on his website.
Didn't explain rules or regulations especially about parking and boat moorings. Told us that the regulars usually know what's
going on. Bins not put around sites until Easter Saturday. BBQ's were unclean and no one used them during our stay. Water in
showers went ice cold at times. I think it happened when the taps outside over dishwashing sinks were used. The amenities
were not very clean and I've never seen so many cobwebs. The amenities are very old. The park lighting didn't work.
Unfriendly staff.

We went to Inverloch for the first time and were very pleasantly surprised by the town and the holiday park. The park has a very friendly
atmosphere. It is definitely great for the kids with a fantastic playground which includes a jumping pillow (which I couldn't get my kids off).
The staff are very helpful and friendly and more than happy to help if needed. It was one of our first times towing the van so the park
supervisor was very helpful and backed the van on site for us. The park is very clean and tidy. Inverloch is definitely on our list to
revisit and for longer next time. They had a pool under construction which would be a very good addition.

Good sites, adequate number of tourist sites, sites were level, lighting at night was adequate, hard to negotiate in to/out
of site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by.

Likes: Grassy sites, could see all kids play areas from our site. Park is away from main roads. Arriving late so paid
upfront and boom gate code left out for us.
Dislikes: Large garden bed opposite site and posts designating camp sites. Cars parked on other sites so would not be able
to swing a caravan onto site. Had to unhitch camper trailer and push.
Parking: Large parking area outside office.

Generally a well maintained park. We spent a couple of nights there and once settled enjoyed our stay. The only two off-putting
comments is that the site we had was far too small and took some considerable manoeuvring to get in. Once in, very little room to put
up awning/annexe and we felt cramped into position. There are larger sites but these, I think, are set aside for really large vans
and motorhomes. The other negative was the "god-awful" piped music in the ablution block. I don't mind music, but this was far too
loud and at 6am did nothing for my humour first thing in the morning. The rest of the park was certainly up to BIG4 standards,
very clean and well maintained. Reasonable shade.
Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($27 2A per night powered).
Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water
pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation.
Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, drive-through sites, hard to negotiate

Very much a family park with lots for
kids to do. Lots of cabins and some permanents but holiday focused. Didn't seem to be enough showers but surprisingly never a queue.
Very good management, friendly management, management was helpful. Poor value for money. Very good amenities, adequate number to
cater for tourists, were clean, water pressure was okay. Average sites, sites were level, hard to negotiate in to/out of site,
adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Laundry, good camp kitchen, security entry to park. Good atmosphere to park,
family-friendly park. Clean free electric bbq in UC area, with seating provided. Good playground , in good condition. The park was
well maintained, the park can be considered kid-safe.
Likes: Plenty of efficient staff. BBQ's were spotless. Toilets like the rest of the park were kept very clean.
Dislikes: Hot water ran out one morning but the park was full with lots of kids. For peak season they insist on full payment
prior with no refund. Some pull through sites but some other smaller and difficult to reverse into as the roadway was narrow and
had cabins on the other side. A bit expensive at $37 per night for a powered site but it is a holiday resort.
Parking: Good space to pull over.

Mollers Caravan Park, Inverloch
Proceed to end on main street then veer right onto Ramsay Blvd. for about 400m, to Hillside Avenue.
Park in front of house (office) on opposite corner. Ph: 03 5674 2245. No pets allowed.
Manager's name is Peter & Margot.
This park has 80 odd sites with only 6 or 7 reserved for tourists. The rest of the sites are retained for
annuals (people who leave their van on site and pay an annual fee). It is therefore a very basic park which
provides a site with power and water and an amenities block. Many caravanners are happy with this, but it is
not reflected in the fees, however, it is still cheaper than the other two parks and the foreshore. The park
is quite much of the time except for peak periods and long weekends etc.
Friendly staff.
Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($25 2A per night, powered, off-peak season).
Amenities are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was
adequate hot water.
Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, no sites with
concrete annex slabs, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by.
Basic laundry, no rec room.
Quiet, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade.
No bbqs. Basic playground in average condition. No pool.
Suitable for few days, well maintained park.
Likes: Across the road from the beach. Park was quiet when visited.
Dislikes: Sites were small, both in width and depth. Most were only suitable for a van with a body length of around 16 or 17ft.
Parking: Office is located in house opposite Park. Parking is available on grass out the front of house.
Local Information: Inverloch is a coastal town offering wonderful scenery and lots of good eating
places. The larger of the two fish shops has superb fish and chips. It is only a short drive to Wonthaggi, a thriving town with most facilities.

RACV Resort, Inverloch
70 Cape Paterson-Inverloch Road. Located on the coast road between Inverloch and Cape Paterson. The access road into the resort
winds about a kilometre from the coastal road, with the access road to the caravan park another 500 metres. Check in at the resort
before going to caravan park - parking allocated for caravans at reception. Ph: 03 5674 0000.
Although the resort and caravan park are set on hilly ground, the sites are large and flat, with a double concrete pad for caravan
and annex, with another large space for vehicle. There is a largish garden bed between each site so good privacy. The park has 33
sites, some en suite. The main toilet block is spacious and modern, with good facilities. There is a camp kitchen and two BBQ areas.
The resort has an indoor heated pool, spa and sauna, games room, gym, tennis courts, restaurant, shop and some playgrounds.
Likes: Large sites and sense of privacy. Views from caravan sites over coast.
Dislikes: Excessive use of locks. Keycard needed for boom gate to access caravan park although well off road in very isolated
area, then toilet facilities, laundry etc locked as well. Keycard also needed to access pool, games room etc - needed to go through
two locked doors to get into swimming pool. Not recommended for young children - no grassed area to play on and numerous signs
warning of snakes. Car needed to get to beach.

The mission statement is that it caters for the fishing enthusiast, and the only rule stressed is no noise after
10pm. The park has several permanents, and all those we met were very friendly folk. Busy season is during the
winter bream fishing period. Facilities are a little dated, but well kept and clean. Soap dispenser is provided
at hand basins, as is an electric hand dryer. The park was almost empty of tourists when we were there, and was
very quiet. Traffic noise is almost inaudible from the highway. Fish cleaning and boat/car wash facilities provided.
Very friendly staff, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site. Price was as expected,
good value for money ($20 2A per night powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to all sites,
were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer
provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, average sized sites,
concrete annex slabs, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, basic
rec room. Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Pets on application.
Some permanents had dogs, all well contained. Free gas bbq in congenial UC bbq area. Basic playground in good condition.
No pool. A well maintained park.
Likes: Peaceful, friendly park made for an enjoyable stay. We plan to go again, not a 5 star resort type park but
suits those looking for a very pleasant stay in the quiet season.
Dislikes: BBQ needed a clean, and was the only thing we noticed.

Kilcunda Caravan Park, Kilcunda
Signposted off the Bass Highway adjacent to the Post Office. Ph: 03 5678 7260.
Large park set on cliff top overlooking Bass Strait. Great views east to Cape Paterson and west to Phillip Island.
Its strength is its location, which is also its weakness, particularly in windy conditions. Management is fair. Amenities
are badly designed and would be totally inadequate in peak period. They are cleaned twice daily. Park is mainly annuals
with on-site van. Powered sites are limited in number and location in the park. The park rates 3.5 in good weather, but
don't even think about going there when a weather change in moving through Bass Strait! We would stay again (after carefully
examining the weather map).

Nice relaxed park but difficult sites to negotiate. The power was more than 15m from the van and we had to move
sites to one where our lead reached. Really nice location but probably only a couple of days and you would want to
move on. Quite a walk to the amenities. Enjoyed staying a couple of nights but probably won't return. Good management,
friendly management. Reasonable value for money. Average amenities, were clean, were in good condition, water pressure
was okay, there was adequate hot water. Average sites, hard to negotiate in to/out of site. Park atmosphere was okay.
Dogs allowed. UC bbq.
Likes: Close to the ocean and pub. Great location. Sheltered site and quiet even though close to the highway
Dislikes: Very poor casual sites with a large slope making unhooking the van difficult. No sullage on some sites,
just let it drain towards the cliff. Nearly all permanent holiday vans with only a few sites for casuals.

Amentities at the park are very clean and quite adequate. The park is a very quiet, family friendly park with both young children and teenagers
holidaying with their parents. I would have to say it is one of the quietest parks I have stayed in especially over such a busy time. A credit
to the parents of children. The staff are very friendly which also goes for the people who stay there. It is situated close to all facilites well
within walking distance to everything needed. Unfortunately they seem to be in the process of selling up a lot of the camp sites for holiday units,
I hope this doesn't happen too soon. A great place for a holiday.

Almost the last park along main road through Lakes as you head east out of town.
This park will probably not be around for long. They are now building 2 storey townhouses on caravan sites.

15-20 minutes dragging 2 kids, to get to McDonalds! Very good management, friendly management, management responsive to

Small caravan park situated close to town centre and beaches. All sites have
concrete slabs and ensuites. Ensuites were clean, reasonably modern and quite large. The toilet is in a separate room in the ensuite,
making it more private. The shower has a small bath tub. Sites are small and tight. When all sites and onsite vans are full,
there does not appear to be much parking, giving it a claustrophobic feel. There is no playground, pool, camp kitchen or rec room.
There were free gas BBQ's that you could wheel to your site. This park is very good value for money and definitely worth staying

I have been debating over whether I would submit this report or not. I have submitted a couple of good reports
and now I think, well, maybe when things are not real great these should be submitted also. Charlie,
although the park accepts dogs, obviously does not like dogs. We have travelled for years with our dog, we are
very conscious of the fact we pick up after our dog all the time. Never go anywhere without 2 bags with us.
Charlie immediately told us on arrival dog sites are at the front of the park, we could not walk the dog through
the park, etc. As we were in Victoria in winter we were a group of 4 vans at the time travelling together and
between us we had 3 dogs. There was only 2 other vans in the park when we arrived. During the course of the
week we were there we were only the 4 vans in the park for quite a number of days. We put our chairs out in
the sun of an afternoon for our "happy hour" in a circle. One afternoon Bob and I had our dog on a very long
lead giving him a run around in circles to burn off energy - he is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and at the
time was 15 months old, so still a puppy with plenty of energy. Charlie came down to us and told us to take
the dog outside the park as we were giving a wrong impression to people driving past as to what goes on in the
park. He also said he had been "very lenient" to us during our stay as we were the only ones in the park.
Honestly he is an absolute pig and we would not recommend anyone go there to stay.
Average staff friendliness, van parking assistance provided by staff.
Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($156.60 2A per week, powered, off-peak season).
Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean,
condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water.
Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, no sites

Basic laundry, no rec room. Peaceful, open & roomy park, no permanents.
UC bbq, seating provided at bbq. No playground.
Clean pool is open to the sun, kid-safe pool area.
Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Dislikes: The owner/manager (Charlie) attitude. His power poles leave a lot to be desired - can't cope.
A couple of them just gave out (and we were the only ones there at the time). There was a leaking tap over a
basin in the ladies amenities the whole week we were there. In the cap kitchen he has signs up everywhere you
cannot bring your own utensils into the camp kitchen, e.g. electric frypans etc.

Small park with well maintained grassed grounds including a swimming pool. This park is located in a good position.
Sites are small and include some drive through. Amenity block clean but in need of an upgrade. Basic camp kitchen with
many rules and regulation leaving one feeling discouraged to use it. A dump site is not provided within the park and toilet
canisters are not permitted to be emptied in the toilets. A small and difficult to read map is posted in the toilet
indicating that the canisters can be emptied in a public dump about a 1km away from the park. Dogs accepted at management’s
discretion however again the rules and regulations are so constraining that it makes an extended stay in the park a little
unpleasant. For example dogs are not to be walked in the park and to be constrained to the site area only. Unbeknown to us
this rule also extends to include dogs not permitted to join their owners on a joining site for afternoon tea. We were
sternly reprimanded for doing this by the management; while the dogs slept on!

A very well laid out park with good amenities. The cleanliness of the ablution block and laundry was excellent. A lot of new
work going on with barbecue and camp kitchen being refurbished. Although we didn't use it, the pool and surrounds were excellent.
Sites were quite level and easy to get into. As it was the off season there were only a couple of others in the park. Some lovely
bush walks down to the beach although the recent rains had made it a little hairy to get down to the beach. For all you fishermen,
I had a couple of good catches only 10 minutes walk from the park! In my opinion I downgraded the park on two items. The barbecue
fires at the end of the streets were badly in need of replacement or refurbishment and the fish-cleaning sink provided was clogged
up and stank. These two items let the park down badly. However I would go there again, out of season, as it was very quiet and
pleasant. An added nice gesture that we got was when we made our booking we received a voucher with our receipt for a 10% discount
at a cafe in Traralgon on our drive through.
Friendly management, management was helpful.
Reasonable value for money.
Very good amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, were clean, were in good condition, water pressure was okay, there
was adequate hot water.
Good sites, adequate number of tourist sites, sites were level, lighting at night was adequate, adequate taps close by, adequate
sullage close by.
Laundry, rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, disabled facilities.
Good atmosphere to park, quiet, open and roomy park, shady park, family-friendly park.
Smaller dogs allowed at managers discretion. An extra $1 per night applies.
Free wood bbq, with a congenial atmosphere.
Good playground, condition okay.
Very good clean heated pool, kid-safe pool area, seating around the pool was provided, toddlers were catered for.
Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, the park was well maintained, the park can be considered kid-safe.
Likes: Lovely shady sites, plenty of birdlife and nice walks to the beach.
Dislikes: Poorly maintained fish cleaning area and barbecues. Not enough grassy sites.
Parking: Park near kiosk to register.
Added Touches: Fish cleaning table and boards.
Local Information: About 1km from the Waterwheel Tavern whose balcony looks out over the Lake Tyers entrance, a fantastic
view. Close enough to Lakes Entrance to slip in for a meal at the local cafes and floating restaurants. All service clubs in Lakes Entrance.

We arrived at Lakes Beachfront for bush camping and stayed a week; given the chance I would have stayed longer.
The site staff were friendly and ready to help. Two lots of friends/families joined us throughout the week and
management helped out a great deal in getting us located as near as possible. The pool is beautiful with a kids pool,
spa and a nice sized adults pool. Camp bbqs are available free of charge and were sometimes busy but only gave cause
to meet some other campers and was not really a problem. Showers and toilets were very clean, although water pressure
and temperature was variable during each visit. Beach showers are available outside for sand removal. A fish washing
area is also available. Overall, our week at Beachfront was a real pleasure and we will be staying there again. Price
was as expected, good value for money ($322 2A 2C per week unpowered). Pets at manager's discretion. Clean free gas bbq
in congenial UC bbq area. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool is open to sun, kid-safe pool area, tables and
chairs provided, toddlers catered for. A well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Proximity to the beach
Added Touches: Courtesy bus to local pub, kids club activities , moonlight walk.
Local Information: Surf beach can be accessed by a flight of steps (about 100) or by a long sloping walk but it is
definitely worthwhile for anyone interested in body boarding. The local pub has a limited selection of meals at slightly
higher than average prices but we managed to walk in and get a table for 9 without much trouble and the service was
extremely fast considering the dinner rush that was occurring. The lake area in front of the pub is also great for families
as there is shallow water on one side of the beach and surf on the other allowing all aspects of our group to have a day
out in the same place.

Dislikes: Mozzies were a nightmare to the extent that the owner advised us to burn the Banksia cones to minimize
problem. In fairness, we don't know if this was an isolated October problem or a more routine situation. In any case,
the mozzies were the worst we have ever experienced anywhere. Also, the park was very noisy (still loud talking at 2am)

Mallacoota Camp Park, Mallacoota
UPDATED REPORT NEEDED
This caravan park is huge. It contains many hundreds of camp sites, from powered, unpowered and tent sites.
Its location cannot be faulted, on the banks of Bottom Lake and within a few hundred metres of the town of Mallacoota.
Near the park's office are a café, newsagent and bakery. We secured a prime powered site with an actual waterfront location
for 2 nights, at a cost of $35.00. Had we been travelling with a boat, a mooring would have been available, in front of
and only 20 metres from our van site. The park's office is dilapidated, but we were processed efficiently enough, but no
site plan or written Park Rules were provided. The park's office sells ice, gas, ice-creams, etc. but nothing more. The
facilities in this park are old and dated, but were adequate enough. BBQs are scattered through the park, but in my
opinion there were not enough of them. They cost $1.00 for about 5 minutes of heat, which equates to about $3.00 for
sufficient heat for an average BBQ. This is far too expensive. Although our site was close to amenities, it is clear
that during the summer period some sites would be a long way from facilities. Fires in a drum can be lit in this caravan
park and pets are allowed. Pets in our area of the park were well controlled. This place and the entire town are very
quiet. This park appears to be under the control of Parks Victoria and is not privately owned. It needs more money
spent on it to improve facilities, but has a location that would be the envy of any caravan park in Australia.

UPDATED REPORT NEEDED
Stayed 3 days, $17.50 per night powered site. An extremely casual caravan park. We were told at the
office to park anywhere, no map or help provided. In fact, a very no-care attitude. Actually I wonder if most
of the vans had registered in the office at all, as the site is not fenced in and no-one seems to check up on who
is on site. A very large park with sites near the seashore or beach, but most are very hilly and extremely difficult
to park a caravan (especially a 21footer like ours). The sites are grass but you have to drive around a few times
to find a suitable site, as some are very steep and narrow. The toilets and showers are old and desperately need
maintenance, but reasonably clean, and you need a torch to get to the toilets at night. The fishing is good if the
weather is ok. Would go to this park again but would take more time to find a suitable site.

Phillip Island Caravan Park, Newhaven
24 Old Bridge Road. Park is on the left immediately after crossing the bridge from San Remo. Ph: 03 5956 7227. BIG4 member. No pets allowed.
Three caravanning mates were quoted $27 per night for 4 nights when arriving at park; we were informed the 4th night would be charged
at $42 (Thursday night) because of motorbike races at the island on the long weekend - of course we stayed only 3 nights.

Lakes Bushland Caravan Park, Nicholson
Travel through Bairnsdale and the township of Nicholson, turn left about 1km past into Stephensons Road. Ph: 03 5156 8422. Pets at manager's discretion.
Management very friendly and helpful, no probelm extending our stay - park was half empty. Lives up to its name bushland wise, kookaburras,
king parrots and cockatoos everywhere. We were given a map and directed to where our cabin was. It was a very basic cabin with no en-suite but
right across from amenities so no problem. Very clean cabin, excellent value for money. Pool, tennis court, pitch and putt golf, volleyball,
table tennis. Large open games room with TV.
Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Price was lower than expected, very good value for money ($50 2A per night cabin).
Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate
hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation.
Good laundry, basic rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), good camp kitchen, kiosk, van parking.

Good playground in good condition.
Clean heated pool is open to the sun, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided.
Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: The bushland setting, the price - much cheaper than anything in Lakes Entrance, the atmosphere - very quiet (besides the birds,
which was actually quite pleasant).
Dislikes: The BBQ could probably do with a going over but it was fine once we'd given it a scrape.
Local Information: Well positioned half way between Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance so a good base to explore all the Gippsland Lakes.
Do not however eat at the Nicholson Hotel - absolutely terrible meal! Get some fresh seafood and BBQ it instead!! The fish co-op in Lakes Entrance is excellent.
Roads: Stephensons Road may be a touch narrow for vans but should be ok - sealed road, roads into and round the park are gravel.

Allawah Caravan and Boat park, Paynesville
Slip Road, well signed, opposite boat club. Ph: 03 5156 7777.
Stayed here 2 weeks. $30 2A 2C powered per night. No discount for lengthy stays. Dogs allowed on
leash. Deposit of $10 on security gate key. Very large level sites (patchy grass); taps, sullage, power close to sites, adequate
shade. Very good amenities, but only 1 block (6sh/6wc); soap, hand towel provided, piped music. Very weak water pressure in
showers when all are in use. Good laundry, basic games room, basic kiosk; ice, gas, bait, milk/bread, etc. Clean pool. Boat
storage areas during stay - may be difficult to find vacant area during peak. Boat ramp, hose at ramp, and separate boat wash
area at back of park. Mooring jetties for 12 boats. Roads unsealed - dusty during winds. Rubbish bins were overflowing before
being emptied by local council, but extra bins were eventually put out (this was during off-peak season). At 12:30am I complained
to manager about noisy cabin occupants and manager attended to this immediately, however it required me having to walk to office,
find no "bell" to use, ring an emergency number which was not working, then having to knock on managers residence. The next night
at 11pm I had to complain to another cabin that their kids were running around making a lot of noise. As it turned out some things
were taken from several sites that night, but management was quick to react in the morning, and most items were returned. Maybe a
quick walk around at 10:30pm (noise should stop by 10pm) by the manager could alleviate paying tourists from having to police the rules.
Electric UC bbqs (40c for about 15 mins) were not good as did not get hot enough. Basic playground in good condition. Friendly management.
Local Information: Fishing in the lakes, Hollands Landing, and Mitchell & Tambo rivers was appalling, not just for us but for
other people as well - 'luck of the draw', I suppose.

Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, too many permanents.
Congenial UC bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq.
Basic playground in average condition.
No pool.
Suitable for few days, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: This is a very large park with boat launch area. There are lots of grassed areas and walking track to town,
11km return trip. Staff were very friendly and sites and amenities were kept clean. They allowed wood fires in fire boxes.
Dislikes: There was a lot of very old permanent vans on site which did tend to bring the general look of the park down.
The fires which were lit were very smoky and although a lot of travellers do not mind, I personally prefer fresh air. I can
stay in Melbourne and smell wood smoke. The toilet area although clean many of the cubicles lacked toilet paper.
Parking: We pulled up at the office and staff showed us to our site immediately even before we registered, they were exceedingly friendly
Added Touches: There was a sign regarding a courtesy bus to Port Albert though I did not see the bus personally, there
was a boat ramp of sorts which is quite adequate for tinnies though larger craft would need to go to Port Albert which was
5km away. No fish cleaning allowed in the park. Contained fires in a fire pot were allowed.
Local Information: This is a fishing area and there is a very nice Jetty in Port Albert, There is a restaurant on the
pier and their take away fish and chips were the best. The town itself is practically nonexistent other than the restaurant
and the local pub. The nearest town of reasonable size is Yarram which has everything you would want or expect for country
Victoria and is 10km from caravan park.
Roads: All roads in the area were good. We came via Traralgon and though the hills were quite a challenge to tow a 21ft
van up the roads were in good condition.

On highway at entrance to town centre. Well sign posted. Small park, approx 12km east of Foster at Wilsons
Promontory. We had an ensuite site that was drive through. Some sites were not drive through. Our site was relatively level,
but some other sites were not as level, but they did have some blocks of wood available to use if needed to level the van. The
ensuite was modern, clean and quite large. This is the first ensuite that we have stayed in that supplies a broom, dustpan and
mop (which comes in very handy when you have children). There was a camp kitchen and a TV and rec room. There was also an
indoor heated pool with separate free spa and a tennis court. The playground was in good condition and had an
in-ground
trampoline as well as a jumping pillow. We did not use the amenities block, but it appeared to be older and in average
condition. We chose to stay here for our visit to Wilsons Promontory as it was a fair bit cheaper than Foster, and we had an
ensuite whereas we wouldn't have at Foster. There were a few other travellers doing the same thing because of the price of
Foster. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected,
good value for money ($29.70 2A 2C per night). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all

Likes: Staff were really friendly. This park has been completely renewed over the last year with new cabins and facilities.
All sites are drive through and the ensuites were like home! It would be tight if two large vans were next to each other on the
ensuite sites so if you have a large van, best mention it when booking. Fantastic camp kitchen with all pots, plates and cutlery
provided. Rec room had a separate TV room with 3-piece suite for relaxing. Wireless Internet also available. We were handed a large
folder on arrival containing tourist information for the whole district and staff also explained what was on locally that weekend.
Note that Ensuite sites are two-night minimum.
Dislikes: The park has basically been bulldozed and rebuilt so there is not much shade at the moment as the tress are still
small. There is a lot of traffic noise from the road. Most of the cabins were occupied when we stayed. Mainly air crew for the
bushfires but we thought they were empty as it was so quiet! It is about 5km from either Traralgon or Moe so you need to drive
to any facilities. Taxi service available. No security booms or gates but it is out of town so probably not required.
Parking: Clearly signposted parking area available for check in.
Added Touches: The cabins are all painted different colours and it makes the park bright!

dip and is old and needs updating. Owners are very friendly and obliging and offered tourist advice. Overall the park is run down
and needs some maintenance and tidying up done to it. We considered this park to be very good value for money ($27 2A 2C) especially
when the "new" Top Tourist park wanted to charge $47 for just a powered site. We would stay there again.
Dislikes: There are three ensuites located in one block. The sites are located side by side so if you are the closest to the
ensuites, then the other two sites basically walk under your awning to get to their ensuite. We were lucky that it was very quiet
and did not have such problems.

Miners Rest Caravan Park, Wonthaggi
Heading from Melbourne on Bass Hwy, before entering town centre turn left into White Road. It is immediately on the right (south) side of the road.
Located 1.5km west of town centre. Ph: 03 5672 2667. This is the only dog friendly park in Wonthaggi.
I know it was winter and we had had a bit of rain but the park entry consisted of potholes filled with water. Grass had not been mown for a while.
There appeared to be only one powered tourist site though there were several unpowered sites. The powered site may be difficult to negotiate if the
unpowered site across from it is not vacant.
Staff not present when we arrived (as daughter was in hospital). We paid for three nights but left after two as we couldn't cope another night. No
offer was made about reimbursement though details of noise complaints were taken.
Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints.
Price was as expected, poor value for money ($20 2A per night powered).
Amenities are close to most sites, were dirty, condition is poor, water pressure is good.
Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close
by, adequate sullage close by.
Noisy, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade, too many permanents.
Suitable for overnighter.

Dislikes: We stayed two nights. First night behind us a war was going on with bashing on the cabin wall/door, people yelling and swearing.
Second night music (varying volumes) until 4am from site on south side. No night lighting where we were so stepped into puddles.
Local Information: We were at Wonthaggi for dog walks. There are several areas where these are quite good. There is a wetlands area and rail
trail in Wonthaggi, with other good walks in Inverloch and Cape Paterson.
Roads: Roads good.
