Manager's name is Chris & Jenny Martyn.
We enjoyed our stay in this park that has an idyllic location. The park is very pleasant but a bit 'tired', and is reasonable value in all
departments (except for the extra charge of $1 per 5 min shower). It is so nice to hear the small breaking waves on the beautiful beach just
across the road from the park, especially at night, for those that prefer more still water the park has campsites right on the creek that runs through the back of the park.
Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Reasonable value for money ($28 2A per night).
Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable,
water pressure is bad, extra charge for shower, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation.
Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, no sites with annex slabs, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by.
Basic laundry, basic rec room, camp kitchen, car wash, dump point, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless
(carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 1).
Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, too many permanents.
Clean UC gas bbq ($1), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq.
Basic playground in poor condition.
No pool.
Suitable for a week or more.
Likes: Location and peacefulness. The camp kitchen and rec room are combined, quite spacious and with a wood fire for heating, while
older and a bit tired it is very comfortable and has all that is needed for those that use these areas
Dislikes: Extra charge for showers
Parking: ample space at reception
Local Information: We took a 3 hour Bruny Island Cruise (the yellow boats) which will be remembered as one of the best highlights of our
3 months in Tasmania. The park will give you all the information regarding this
Roads: Most of the road is good bitumen from the ferry to the park with the exception of a short length through 'The Neck' which appears
to be 'work in progress' so may also be bitumen soon

Park situated across the main road from Adventure Bay with Captain Cook Creek running along the boundary. Lots of native trees
and shrubs that encourage Blue Wrens to visit your campsite.
Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Poor value for money ($35 2A 1C per night, powered, peak season). We paid $30 because of we booked in August 2010.
Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, water pressure is
good, there was adequate hot water, extra charge for shower, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided.
Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, annex slabs
to some sites, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by.
Good laundry, good rec room, camp kitchen, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4).
Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade, too many permanents.
No pool.
Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Friendliness of the staff and location.
Dislikes: Male amenities block is poor. Cleaning is perfunctory only. No adequate ventilation and you take your life in your hands by
entering after the morning rush. Shower cubicles very small. Poor value for money when one pays $35 per night and then $1 per shower for 4 mins.
Added Touches: Ranger talks provided for big and small kids during the school holidays. Contained open fires allowed.
Local Information: Bruny Island Adventure Cruise a must for those wanting to experience the Southern Ocean. Booking service offered
within the park. General store is adequate however prices equate with an establishment not having adequate competition. Stock up on
groceries and fuel before going onto the island.

Being Geriatric Gypsies we went to Bruny Island on our travels. The park is in a great position with the water just across the road & has panoramic
views of Adventure Bay and the whales in early & late winter. It is lovely to go to sleep to the relaxing sound of the waves at night. The sites are
reasonably sized with most easy to get into. The amenities are kept spotlessly clean by the friendly staff and the management goes out of their way
to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. There is plenty of water with good pressure in the showers. A good campers kitchen & two sheds with coin
operated barbeques. Chris runs a good charter fishing business with fish & crays in season assured. There are white wallabys in the area & the
occasional echidna visiting the park. A feed of calamari squid can be caught from the local jetty. The park has a creek at the back where you can
catch bream. There is a well stocked store within walking distance that has a truly amazing range of goods and a restaurant next door to the shop
& a bowls club nearby. The park is protected from the worst of the westerly winds by the mountains behind.

spots, just find one someone else has used. Open fires allowed, but no firewood. Easy access for caravans.
Peaceful, surrounded by trees and birds, 50-100 m walk to beach.
Local Information: The penguin rookery is about 3 kms N (you pass it in the middle of The Neck). Free access along well-made board

There is another free camping area further along from here, but access is literally via the beach.
Drop toilet. No designated camping spots, in a small area surrounded by pine trees, well out of the wind.
Open fires allowed, but no firewood. Easy access for caravans. Peaceful, surrounded by trees and birds, 300 m walk to beach. We had the
place to ourselves for 2 days and just used it as a base to explore the rest of the island.
Local Information: The walk to Mt Managna was marred by previous morons cutting down branches and laying them across the track, but the
effort was worth it for the views at the top of the southern part of Tasmania. Moderate effort needed.
Roads: The road from Adventure Bay is not suitable for vans, so just take the normal road thru Allonah and Lunawanna which is
bitumen and good gravel.

Good level cement sites. Only a small park with about 10 powered sites so it would be prudent to call ahead. Very friendly staff
at the hotel who have only recently taken over this park and have plans to modernise and improve facilities. Must have the biggest

This is quite a nice park in a lovely little town and the only one in the area. The back of the park is nicely grassed but
we were told if it rains it would get too wet, so were put on a very small site without grass. The amenities are very old
and could really do with some maintenance and renovating, although they are clean. Shower pressure was poor and very much
affected by someone else turning on a tap, etc. The owner remarked that he has a lot of trouble with vans throwing the power
cutout switch, only on one side of the road, which is the side he put us on, and this happened twice on one night to us when
the van next to us put the electric jug on. We had to get the manager on both occasions because the cutout switch is in a
locked room and he was extremely rude and told both of us that we must be using too much power and if it happened again, he
would have to ask us to leave. This was at 9pm. We feel that the price is too high. It is not good value for money, they
have too many vans running on old wiring systems and we wouldn't stay again. I would rate the park itself as 4 but the
amenities as only a 2 1/2 and the friendliness if something goes wrong as a zero. The manager did say to us that it's
these new vans that are a problem with the power because we have big fridges.
Very unfriendly staff.

This is a very nice park in a beautiful little coastal town, lush grass on most sites and very well maintained. There are a few
weekender/onsite vans here and they are all neat and tidy. This is a very good springboard for the area from Huonville to Cockle
Creek. There is a very friendly bowls club here which is affiliated with the RSL club. A creek borders the park so children need
some supervision. Would definitely use again.
Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities.

Likes: The setting is great, over the road from a really good beach with a tall wooded hill behind and a peaceful creek beside.
Dislikes: I drew a small site but it was still big enough to have the awning extended and park the car onsite.

The advertised camping area is now closed, however we did find a fantastic picnic area in town.
There were no less than 12 picnic tables, 2 free electric bbqs, a good playground, water, and toilets. Gold coin donation in box.
The area is provided by the Judbury Progress Association and there is a box for donations, which we made, and we left a note
of congratulations on such a great area "in the middle of nowhere". There was a sign in a sheltered picnic area that said
"no camping in bbq area", but we stayed on the advice of a local that said it was okay as long as we didn't stay "for days"
and the sign was to stop people sleeping in the sheltered area.
Local Information: To the west is a lovely forest drive that takes you thru some steep hills, magnificent lookouts,
and tree-felling areas.
Roads: Good. The forest drive road is very good, dirt road, but leave the van behind.

I telephoned the park manager four days before we were due to arrive, to see if we needed to book (as we have a large van),
and was told just to turn up as the park was very quiet. When we arrived we were informed that the park was closed for 2 weeks as the amenities
were being refurbished. Annoying to say the least. We did, however, hang around long enough to visit the Russell & Horseshoe Falls, which were
beautiful, and have lunch in the cafe. The National Park staff were very helpful and apologetic.

Mt Field is about 90kms west of Hobart. The caretaker of the caravan park is also the manager of the cafe in the NP's Visitors Centre so enquire there first.
This is a very basic park in a lovely bushland setting. It has about a dozen powered sites, a camp kitchen and an old amenities block that is adequate
(showers are hot) considering the natural setting amongst tall trees with the Tyenna River a feature. Sites are informal, dirt, some moss coverage and
muddy when it rains. Pademelon wallabies come around at night. There are minimal local services so bring everything with you. Having said that the
excellent cafe in the NP's Visitors Centre has meals, coffee, etc.
The rubbish tin lids have bricks wired to them to stop the locals getting access. Site fees are $25 per night but this represents good value in such a
pretty and isolated spot. This is not your normal tourist park but it is a great stopping off point to visit the Styx Valley, Russell Falls and the drive
to Strath-Gordon. Well worth a stopover on the drive across to the West Coast.

This park is a nice place to stay because the town is cute and close by, the river is at your doorstop and the locals are
friendly and welcoming. That said, it's not the most appealing van park to look at and the sites are all pretty close together.
If you're just staying for a short while and want to explore the area - particularly the amazing range of antiques stores, it's a
great place to stop. The facilities were pretty good - the toilets were old, but functional; and the shower block was new and clean,
although water heat was affected by whoever else was using the showers.

This park is in a perfect location, and the site for our campervan was gorgeous - surrounded by trees, reasonably flat and
with a small open fire space next to it. It was a delight to stay there, and we would have been happy to stay for longer,
but the obvious aside, there's not a huge amount to do in Port Arthur. The facilities block is brand new, but still wasn't that

A very nice caravan park, about 10 - 15 mins from Port Arthur. On a lovely beach, which we unfortunately didn't have time
to enjoy, because of doing the "tourist bit" in Port Arthur. We were running out of time at this stage. There is still a charge
of 40 cents for a shower.

Management were a little terse when phoning for a booking, but OK when we arrived. I was walked to our site which had water but no
sullage. I was told to let it run on the lawn (we have our own shower). We arrived 3 days before a long weekend and left on the
start of it. The park was full when we left and noisy due to a Scouting event on the oval next door and the foreshore.
Average staff friendliness, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Reasonable value for money ($30 2A per night, powered, shoulder season).
Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, condition is good, water pressure is good, soap provided,
dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation.

Likes: Very impressive camp kitchen (complete with log fire), new amenities & laundry (including brand new appliances)

Local Information: Close to Kettering and the Bruny Island Ferry.

This is a great little park. It has the best camp kitchen I have seen - fully enclosed (great in Tassie), with wood fired heater (wood provided), fridges,
toaster, 2 x electric BBQs ($1 in slot to use), TV, lounge, tables, chairs etc. The amenities have recently been refurbished and are very good.
Very good laundry with 4 washers and 4 dryers. Although there is not a lot of shade, this was not a problem. In Tassie we were happy to seek the
sun when it shone. We asked for and were given a list of available sites and went for a walk and chose the best (number 14 as it was large and we
could have the awning facing N - 17 was also very big, but awning would face south). Some sites are small and in a row with no trees between,
so it is worth asking for a choice if you plan to stay a while. There are no concrete slabs, but the park is well grassed and was well maintained.
Very quiet park and area. Good location to use as a base to explore the Huon Valley, Bruny Island and other local attractions. Being just 30 km
from Hobart, it could also be used as a base for there. There is a dump point suitable for pump out and cassette toilets. No pool or playground for kids,
but when we were there, there was a large open grassed area available for play, but in peak periods may be full of tents and unpowered campers.
We rarely stay in van parks, but were very happy to stay at this one for close to a week to rest up and explore the great areas that are within an hour or two.
Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice.
Price was lower than expected, excellent value for money ($25 2A per night, powered, shoulder season).

Price was as expected, good value for money ($16 2A 2C per night unpowered).
Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is good,
water pressure is good, hot water was usually adequate but not when busy, extra charge for shower, paper towels/dryer provided.
Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs.
Basic laundry, no rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), kiosk.
Peaceful, open & roomy park, family/friendly atmosphere.
No bbqs, no playground, no pool.
Suitable for few days, suitable for families.
Likes: Very spacious area for unpowered camping. Wood fires were allowed, we were also allowed to use some wood that had
been recently chopped on the property. The lady who booked us in and showed us to some suitable sites was extremely helpful and
offered to ring a local tourist site to find out what times they were open. We were the only campers in the unpowered area, it
was lovely and quiet. A few motor homes were in the powered section. Some of the other unpowered areas were a bit mushy following
some rain, not muddy but very wet mossy type of grass. In summer time I wouldn't think this would be a problem. The park is behind
a tavern/small shop, so we liked that we could get a counter meal if we wanted. The shop is also a servo.
Dislikes: The showers ran hot and cold, so had to keep adjusting the tap. There is a very small creek running at the rear of
the camping area, this was not a problem for us, but if you have very small children, just be aware of this.
Local Information: This is a good spot to base yourself at and do day trips to Hastings Caves, Cockle Creek and Ida Bay Railway.

This is a fairly new or refurbished small independent park, which is part of a complex, consisting of a hotel, a general store and the caravan park.
You check in at the store. It is not listed in most of the Tasmanian tourist information, which is a shame, because it is a real find, in an
area with few caravan parks. It is located in a pretty setting, well grassed and with huge trees. The management was friendly, the pub serves
good budget meals, and you are walking distance to the lovely Southport Bay beach. If staying at Southport, don't miss a trip on the nearby Ida Bay railway.
Good value for money, it cost us $16.50 for an unpowered site for 2 people.
The amenities block is modern and clean, with $1 coin-in-slot showers, for which you get about seven mins of hot water. Adequate number
of amenities to cater for tourists, close to sites, were in good condition, water pressure was okay, there was adequate hot water.
Good sites. There were powered and unpowered sites available. Powered sites (some were drive-through) had gravel bases, and you can have a
campfire at your site also (BYO wood).
Laundry, kiosk, van parking by management.
Very good park atmosphere, quiet, open and roomy park, shady park.
Clean UC wood bbq (free), with seating provided.
Suitable for a few days, the park was well maintained.

Nicely maintained, pleasant, little park. Short walk to town. Very small amenity block (2 showers/2 toilets) and even smaller laundry
(1 washing machine/1 dryer). Managers have limited office hours but were more than happy for us to 'park up' until their return.
Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Reasonable value for money ($25.00 2A per night, powered, off-peak season).
Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is bad, there was adequate hot water,
soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation.
Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, no sites with annex slabs, very few sites are shaded,
adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by.
Poor laundry, no rec room, camp kitchen, book swap available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5).
Dirty UC bbq, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq.
No playground, no pool.
Suitable for few days.
Likes: The spotlessly clean amenity block. Friendly managers
Dislikes: The water pressure is pretty bad. When my husband turned the shower on in the gents amenity my hot water vanished in the ladies.
Local Information: Very nice Information Centre in the town. Great selection of books in the local Op Shop and very friendly 'ladies'. We stopped over in
Triabunna primarily to visit Maria Island but on enquiry we found that the ferry only goes over at 9.30am and doesn't pick up until 5.30pm. Too long a day for
us to wander around an uninhabited island. There is a cruise around Maria Island ($95.00 each), but it doesn't include a visit to the penal colony ruins.
