$10 dog bond applied, but on talking to others staying in the park with dogs found this was not consistently applied. Pleasant, busy, immaculately maintained park across the road from the marina and boat ramp. The park has standard sites, drive through sites and en-suite sites, with asphalt roads throughout the park. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money ($22.50 2A per night, powered, shoulder season) with Top Tourist discount. Park has 2 amenities blocks. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, very few concrete annex slabs, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. The site we were on at the back of the park needed a longer hose and power cord as the connections were placed well inside the site behind us and on our awning side. Good laundry, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities. Laundries are spotlessly clean with plenty of washing machines & dryers. There was plenty of line for drying clothes. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, a few permanents. Clean UC bbq, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Two excellent playgrounds in good condition plus a jumping pillow. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Pool area is beautiful. Parking: Parking on roadway outside the park.
Local Information: There is a lovely walk along the river from the marina/boat ramp car park to Martins Bend. Information at the end of the car park area.

A spacious, well-maintained park. Sites are well-grassed and vary in depth but are wide enough for van, annex and car. Close proximity to the Murray river seems to provide an endless supply of water so everywhere is beautifully green. There are two amenities blocks with laundries, baby bathrooms and disabled amenities. The shower cubicles in the block I used were the smallest I have experienced. I am relatively slim but had great difficulty in drying myself without stepping into the actual shower recess. Shower heads point at the cubicle door so if you have the shower pressure on high your clothes, towel, etc get wet. This is the only negative in a very well run and equipped park. Facilities include: children's play areas, swimming pool, 5 BBQs, coin-in-a-slot Internet, function area, dump point and rainwater tanks for patrons use. The town centre is within walking distance and the River Murray is directly across the road from the entrance. Suitable for any length of stay. Dogs, on a lead, are welcome on sites, subject to a bond.
Date 03/2007. Park Rating 4: Would be more except for the showers

In the town fronting the river but on the opposite side of the riverfront road. This is a very large, well maintained tourist park. We found a professional welcome and used an ensuite site. All sites are flat; the ensuite was well maintained. The site had a cement annexe slab. There are plenty of well grassed sites and lots of trees and you need them in Summer as Berri can be very hot. There are sealed roads throughout the Park with good access to all including many opportunities for drive through. There are large well sited ablution facilities and a well constructed dump point for those that need it. There are lots of cabins from basic through to very high quality ones. A few permanents; they are located well into the Park and unobtrusive. The park accepts dogs on a lead and with permission from the office. The pool provided welcome relief in three 40 degree days. The cost was reasonable for the facility provided. With the Top Tourist discount we paid $25.20 per night (two adults). There is a farmers market in the town every Saturday the community pub is close and high quality and the town is relatively close to Renmark, Loxton, Barmera and Glossop. Roads around the area are good although between Berri and Barmera involve some winding corners which limit speed. This is a high quality park with all amenities close to the Murray River and township. Suitable for any type of stay.

Okay for a stopover or a few nights stay. Clean, basic and functional. Park manager does not live on premises, so if you want ensuite or a cabin you are asked to phone a mobile number placarded on the amenities door. For powered sites there is an honesty box but we were visited around 6 pm by the manager to collect. It was quiet until the 3am train decided to liven up proceedings, then peace reigned again.

Kingston On Murray Caravan Park, Kingston OM
Approaching from Adelaide or Waikerie on the Sturt Highway take the 2nd turning on the left to Kingston-on-Murray as this road is wider and straighter. There is a winery on the corner which is extremely well lit at night providing a very identifiable landmark. At the end of that road, approx 2kms, turn right. From here the site is signposted. It is approx 300m on the left. The road is sealed but undulated. Top Tourist member. Ph: 08 8583 0209. Pets at manager's discretion.
Site was really out from the highway, just the way we like them. Plenty of trees and owners were very helpful. This site is just down the road from the winery Banrock Station, so is an added bonus. No powered sites on the river, they are for tents only. Was very dry when we visited, but peaceful. Cost was a winter special 5 nights for $90. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, very good value for money ($18 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: The thing we like personally about the park are definitely the park operators Ross, Mary and family. Since the first time we ever stayed there quite a few years ago now, Mary and Ross have always referred to us on a first name basis, nothing as ever been a problem for them even after all the challenges thrown in their way in regard to moving the office to the new section of the park. Mary and Ross have always found time to sincerely chat with us on just about any issue. The park has undergone and is still undergoing some dramatic changes/improvements. The other thing we really found great was although the river is a small distance away, we felt our children were safe unsupervised in the park (not being right on the river). It certainly is and continues to live up to it's reputation of being "The quite one". A must see in the park is the giant pelican (this pelican was used as a float in a pageant once upon a time I believe) and the tree of knowledge is also close by (records of floods that have devastated the area).
Parking: Yes special parking is available.
Added Touches: Allowed open fires in the non powered section when not in fire danger season.
Local Information: Loxton is a beautiful little friendly town. It has wonderful shops and plenty of choice when it comes to supermarket shopping (3 supermarkets). We have always found the people of Loxton lovely people who really seem to enjoy living in the their community. Around Australia Day each year the locals put on a free breakfast. Each year Loxton have free fireworks on the last weekend of November to celebrate the official "Light up Loxton" festival (a community initiative to celebrate Christmas with various homes taking part in the "Santa's walk") - homes lit up with lights and decorations. Loxton also has a lovely little village display where the history of Loxton is displayed. The park is set up as Loxton was many years ago when first founded, something not to be missed if visiting the town for the first time.

Mallee Highway. Right on the main highway between Adelaide and Ouyen. Ph: 08 8577 8224 or 08 8577 8618. All pets allowed.
Manager's name is Gina Brown. This park is right on the main highway so expect a fair amount of traffic noise during the night. The sites were flat and reasonably accessible. The facilities were poorly maintained and not particularly clean. There were some itinerant workers in the park at the time which might have contributed to the cleanliness. The park is within walking distance of the small town of Pinnaroo. The Manager is off site and calls in twice a day to collect payment. She was very friendly. I would only recommend an overnight stay. At $18 2A it was about the right money. You can't expect too much at that price.

Some sites have river frontage, but all are close to the river. Note that there is a small drop to the water, so parents of young children should be alert. Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($26 2A per night powered). There are 3 amenities blocks, so all sites are relatively close to facilities. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. The showers were good, other than a wet floor in the change area from splashing. Adequate number of tourist sites, all level sites, good night lighting, large sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Some sites had concrete slabs, most were on grass, and some set back from the river were dirt. Some drive-through sites, access appears good to all sites. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point, secure entry. Quiet, open and roomy, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Most BBQs are in the camp kitchen which is remote from many of the caravan sites, and the others are at the park entrance which is a long walk. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool is open to sun, kid-safe pool area. Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Location is great, park is clean and green.
Dislikes: BBQ locations were poor.
Added Touches: Sheet of discount coupons provided, although we didn't use any.

This must be one of the nicest parks in Australia and is positioned right on the edge of the Murray River with plenty of grass and trees and unbeatable views. It is a boat owner's and fisherman's paradise. Houseboats glide past from time to time and an old paddle steamer runs trips every weekend. The facilities are good - three toilet blocks and a dump point - and the pool is beautiful with a rock waterfall. There are plenty of amusements for children and the usual games and TV room. Fees for a waterside powered site were $30 per night (2A) less $3 BIG4 discount. A site further back would be $3 cheaper. We stayed on the water's edge and considered it excellent value, the lights of Renmark reflecting off the water at night. About 50% of the park roads are bitumen, the remainder dirt. The park is rich in birdlife with many ducks and purple swamphens and a couple of pelicans - it pays to watch where you step prior to entering your caravan. On the down side, power boats towing skiers are noisy at the weekend.
Dislikes: Beware - We were visited by a couple of friends who live locally. The whole evening was spoilt when they were charged an exorbitant $16 to enter the park to spend a couple of hours with us. Management doubtless has its reasons but it was very upsetting.

Have to walk dog outside park area day ok but not at night. Unfriendly on arrival and not told about the lack of drinking water until we had paid up and were on our site. Roo poo everywhere around our site (love the kangaroos), but could be cleaned up on a regular basis, just as we clean up after our small dog. Poor T.V. reception and very little shade.

Manager's name is Klaus & Mary Wagnitz. The park is on the Sturt Highway immediately after the big bridge as you head into Renmark from Victoria. It is a delightful park set amongst some beautiful River Gums right on the Murray. The owners are very friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay again. Beautiful setting on the Murray River but poor value for money compared to other river front parks in the region. We paid $28.00 for a standard powered site (riverfront is extra), which is expensive given that the water is untreated river water and not suitable for drinking. The manager described it as "river water" but glossed over the untreated issue, hence most people had it connected to their vans - make your own choice on risk. Our site had numerous fresh duck droppings which were impossible to avoid resulting in contamination of the van and car. Average staff friendliness, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was much higher than expected, poor value for money. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, drive-through sites, poor water quality, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, kiosk. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade. Basic playground in average condition. Suitable for overnighter, well maintained park.
Likes: Pretty green setting on the banks of the Murray River.
Dislikes: No town water. Excessive duck droppings. Thinnest loo paper we have ever seen.
Parking: Park outside office off the main road.

Res owners Klaus and Mary Wagnitz. $26 per night (2A powered site, non-riverfront) as expected and good value for money. Klaus gave helpful tourist information about Renmark and (closer) Paringa and showed us into the long drive-through site. Park is very attractive - right on the Murray River, spacious and very well grassed, with large river gums, native gardens and aviaries. Resident "wild" birds were an interesting feature. Cabins and van/camping sites well arranged and do not compete for space or outlook. Non riverfront sites have views of the river at this time of the year. Good night lighting. Amenities block quite new, spacious and very clean. Comfortable distance from most sites. Older toilet block, while serviced daily during our stay, never quite managed to smell entirely clean. Hot water in the showers requires constant adjustment. Park water is from the river. Drinking water available on tap outside amenities block. Power and water close. Some sites have sullage. Chemical toilet dump. Large and interesting children's playground. 2 well maintained sheltered free gas bbq areas with tables. Some permanent vans, "fishing trip" variety, in separate screened area. Flat cycle/walking path leads into both Renmark and Paringa. Worth seeing - in Paringa, Cammy's antique barn, Weir and Lock No.5 on the Murray, with picnic grounds, 1 km downstream from bridge. Spectacular sunset view of the Murray and cliffs from Headings Lookout eastern side of river, about 10km north of Paringa. PS Industry moored at Tourist Information in Renmark. Suitable for any length of stay.

Manager's name is Klaus and Mary Wagnitz. Interesting stop beside the river. We felt a bit too tightly packed in, but we only stayed overnight. You can watch the river traffic and the bridge raising is interesting to watch. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($28 2A per night). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting. Open & roomy park, family/friendly atmosphere.
Likes: It was nice to be beside the Murray River.
Dislikes: We were cramped beside the other vans.

Stayed 3 days, $23.40 member discount per night. Klaus, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. I mentioned to him that we had had no sleep in Swan Hill because of noise for two nights running, and could we have a quiet site. He showed us to our site in the central grassed centre which was level with some shade. This park is situated on the Sturt Highway, near the bridge, on the Murray River, but back off the highway so there was next to no noise. We were going to stay 1 night but because of the spotless facilities, and the peace and quiet, we extended to 3 nights. As it was a long weekend in SA, the park was quite full mainly near the water. The amenities block had 6 showers, 4 basins and 5 toilets, was spotless, and close to most sites, as was the laundry. Water pressure was a little slow in the laundry. There was another small block of toilets which were available when the main block was being cleaned. Town water was dreadful but there was drinking water available from tanks. No playground or swimming pool, but even though it lacked all the bells and whistles, we found it very suitable for us. New cabins were being erected and Klaus was always on site either removing garbage, cleaning, or mowing. We enjoyed our quiet time in this park, with its spotless facilities, and would return again. Suitable for a few days or longer.
