Large grassed sites good for big caravans, and some sites had easy access for even the largest 5th wheeler. We took a site on the top side of the park, overlooking the beach, beautiful views, dog friendly beaches, walk to town and jetty - couple of mins. Owners friendly and helpful, cheap rates $25 a night or stay 7 pay for 6. Amenities clean and modern. Golf course opposite park, we stayed a week, could have stayed longer. Great area to explore if you like fishing, beaches and lobsters (in season). Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money ($25 2A per night, powered). This is a council owned and operated park which we found to be a quiet and pleasant spot for a stop of a few days and whilst not on the beachfront like the other one, it was definitely more sheltered from the coastal winds which were very strong during our stay. The park has 4 amenity blocks but only two were open at the time with each block servicing a different section of the park. Basically at this time of the year, before school holidays and Easter, it was a case of pick where you like. We choose a shaded lawn site which received a fair amount of sun and was very pleasant. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($28 2A, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, shade to most sites. This was our second stay, having stayed here in Dec 2010. Got off to a bad start the day before leaving, as they had mistakenly given our site (which I had booked 10 months previously in March) to someone else. Fortunately we managed to resolve it amicably, with some financial compensation given to us. Nonetheless it got our holiday off to a bad start. The camp site itself has deteriorated noticeably in the 12 months since our previous visit. The amenities and camp kitchen are in need of some renovation. Some campers quite noisy after 23:00, with no visible enforcement of noise rules. Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints Good value for money ($39 2A 1C per night, powered, peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, mostly level sites, good night lighting, shade to some sites. Basic laundry, no rec room, basic camp kitchen, late checkout allowed, kiosk, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Optus, reception quality was 3). Noisy, claustrophobic park, not enough shade, a few permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in poor condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families.
Likes: Location - very close to the beach
Dislikes: No access control - anyone can come in or out. No visible enforcement of noise policy - is there even a noise policy?

Suitable for few days, suitable for families.
Likes: Over the road from a large park area, and the ocean.
Dislikes: Barking dogs tolerated, grass sites are dry and the caravan becomes full of dry grass bits, office putting us on sites that were only suitable for small vans, eventually found a site to put our 25foot van on. We considered this site poor value for money, but only caravan park in the town.

Manager's name is Mark & Tania Miller. If reports were based on location this would get 10. A delightful park, well maintained right on the shore of Lake Albert. Like most parks these days we were not shown to our site. Late checkout is allowed to 1pm but at a fee of $10. There is a camp kitchen and an adjacent room with tables/chairs and a TV which could pass for a rec room but both are very basic. We paid $26.10 with our TT discount but we chose to have a lakeside site which is $2.00 a night extra. Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($26.10 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. This park is a delightful spot right on the shores of Lake Albert, which currently has renewed life, after the flooding rains have reached the lake. Some sites are right on the shore and the sunsets at times are quite spectacular right from your van. It is the only park that we have encountered where, for large rigs, you have the choice of occupying two sites, back to back, i.e. as a drive through, for payment of a very small amount extra outside of peak periods when apparently the park does get very busy. Loved the fresh floral arrangements in the amenities areas. Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($29.00 2A, powered, off-peak season). We paid $26.10 because of TT Member. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good. Mount Gambier Information

Lady Nelson Discovery Centre. The Blue Lake: With average depths of 80 m the lake contains 36,000 million litres (ML). Being the source of water to the city 3,700 ML is pumped annually from the lake into holding tanks which gravity feed water to the city and surrounds. Blue Lake and the Crater Lakes area is a significant site within the region's Volcanoes Discovery Trail. A recent city development is the Blue Lake Reception Centre which provides public facilities and a comprehensive interpretation of the volcanic area. Tours down near the surface of Blue Lake operate from the Reception Centre. The 3.6 km road and walking track around the circumference of the lake provide access to many viewing points, the most popular being the tunnel beneath the road between the Blue Lake and the Leg of Mutton Lake. An information sheet on the Blue Lake is available from "The Lady Nelson" Visitor Centre (Ph: 08 8724 9750) and the Department of Water, Land & Biodiversity Conservation.
Plenty of pine forest, the lakes, including the blue lake, and the Centerian Tower (the mount), the southern coast, Glenelg River at Nelson.
Good day trips from Mount Gambier, Port MacDonnell has spectacular views.
Short drive to the Blue Lake and the other volcanic craters in Mount Gambier, Mount Schank on way to Port MacDonnell (you can walk to floor of crater), Princess Margaret Rose Caves near Nelson worth the time and money.
City facilities and attractions within 10 min drive. Heaps of tourist attractions within 1 hours drive (Blue Lake, sinkholes, caves, gardens, beaches & river).

This is a very big park and well maintained. Close to the Blue Lake but a drive into the town for most people. The sites are flat but the park is on the side of a hill so some sites are cut into the hill. Plenty of grass. Facilities were well maintained and the shower was excellent. TV reception can be a problem down the hill as it is digital and your aerial needs to be spot on. At $30.60 after the BIG4 discount - probably a tad expensive. But this is likely to be a popular park and the roads, sites and facilities reflect the 'tad' of expense. Worth a long stay. A big town and lots to see and do in the region.

A nice park with cabins, powered and unpowered sites. While we stayed in a cabin, friends stayed in their hired camper and we got to see the pitfalls they encountered. The cabins were excellently laid out, and in a reasonably quiet area of the park, but parking was reasonably tight for a Commodore sedan, so a large 4WD would be a squeeze for cabin parking. A small games room entertained the kids for a while, as did the Jumping Pillow and walks around the tree-lined park and adjacent golf course. Some of the caravan sites are on sloped areas, and while there were concreted van and annex areas, rainfall did cause a minor torrent of water to run down the hill, under the camper and through the annex of our friends setup, and judging by other comments, they were not alone. Being an older parks, some of the turns are a little sharp for those towing longer vans, and we saw a few people struggle to get vans to their allocated areas, while other sections were easy to access. Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($140 2A 2C per night, cabin, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, separate bathroom. Adequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, concrete annex slabs to most sites, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, basic rec room, camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point, secure entry, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Quiet, plenty of shade, a few permanents. UC bbq , bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool is shaded, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for few days, suitable for families.
Likes: Very shaded areas, nice walks, and very green
Dislikes: Areas around cabins are probably a bit overgrown, the drainage on some sites seemed lacking during rain, but this may not be the case with all sections
Local Information: You have to see the adjacent Blue Lake, but best time to go is November through February, when the colour is an extremely vivid blue

Manager's name is Hayley & Damien Burns, Ray & Robyn Crees. As we arrived fairly early the manager told us our ensuite had not been cleaned yet but that this would be done shortly. Manager turned up, said it actually had been cleaned, it just needed sweeping the floor. We checked the ensuite and it was dirty, it had not been cleaned. We mentioned this to one of the other managers and were told it would be cleaned, but nothing happened, so we had to clean it ourselves. Average staff friendliness, bad staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($32 2A per night, ensuite, off-peak season). Ensuite cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, shade to some sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, basic rec room, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities. Quiet, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. Clean heated pool is open to the sun, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: The park has lots of large mature trees for shade and has grass sites, which is a bit of a novelty with the drought we're having..
Dislikes: Some of the ensuite sites are very hard to get into. Other vanners may have to move their cars for you to get onto the site.

Manager's name is Alf & marg. NOTE they are insistent a charge of 1/2 day will be imposed if you leave after 10.00 am. This is "an oldie but a goodie". All sites come with a good sized ensuite - plus power, water & sullage points. The sites are level and the 'hard surfaced row' sites are good sized (Ok for our 27ft motorhome). The park was built around 1980 and hasn't had much upgrading done to it but everything is well maintained. Unfortunately the laundry, kitchen/recreation room are a fair way from the outermost sites, as is the BBQ area/playground. There is free WiFi but only in the kitchen & laundry. Pets are welcome (not in cabins or ensuites) and there is a safe, large enclosed exercise area. The managers attitude was OK - but make sure you get a receipt if paying cash. The kiosk was poorly stocked & the nearest supermarket is about 4km away, but there is a service station about 5 mins walk that sells the essentials. The park was full when we were there as there was a dog show on and despite this it was all very comfortable with our ensuite. We have stayed at other parks in Mt Gambier but this is the one we would go back to. Price was reasonable at $34 (2A) with ensuite less Top Tourist discount for the Easter period.

Likes: Unusual terraced layout adds to privacy if that is what you want - each site has its own ensuite.
Dislikes: Ensuites have poor ventilation and if the window is not left open can smell musty. Grout lines had some black mould. Shower curtains not screens.
Parking: Adequate parking at reception for a couple of rigs at a time.
Added Touches: Lawns and grounds were well maintained. The young couple on reception were very helpful and we actually did the tourist drive they recommended and it was fantastic. There are plans for improvements to the park.

Large park located on terraced hillside. Well maintained with grassed and tree areas. All powered sites have separate en-suites. 6 Krummel Street, just off Commercial Street East (main street) and close to highway. Centrally located a few streets east of city centre off Jubilee Hwy. Ph: 08 8725 4427. Family Parks member. No pets allowed.

This used to be a good place to stop, right in town & walking distance to everything, but the owner has developed an attitude over the last couple of years. Just don't expect him to give you any help finding your nominated site, or finding the water tap hidden in shrubbery or even the toilets etc. When asked where the water tap was he gave a non descript answer & turned & walked away, when told the map of where the sites were was not very clear he commented "it's worked for the last 4 years" & didn't offer any assistance. In fact the behaviour of this person was what you would expect of someone with no interest in his clients. The park is actually 2 sections; one on each side of the road, the old section beside the office rates as one of the poorest, most poorly maintained, & having totally inadequate facilities; there are 3 water outlets on the boundary to service some 20 sites; if you don't have a 25 m hose you miss out, similarly you need a really long power lead to get power. The sites are very uneven with no slabs, that's fine if the ground is dry but if wet it's nearly impossible to get the van level, wedges just sink into the soil. The toilet block is so old, maybe 60-70 years, soap at the basins consists of some part used cakes in a dish, not for me. On the other side of the road things are markedly better, a good toilet block, power & water at the sites, but the drive-thrus are not big enough to leave the car hooked up; a new BBQ & kitchen is available. The owners need to move on, they are their own worst enemy. We wanted to leave at 7.50 am & they wouldn't open the office to give back the $5 deposit on the toilet key until after 8.00am. Never again will we stay here. Because it was school holidays in Victoria they charged peak prices with the excuse Victoria influences SA - just trying to squeeze every $ they can. Very unfriendly staff, bad staff response to complaints Poor value for money ($25 2A per night, off-peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Inadequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to some sites, hard to negotiate into site. Good laundry, basic rec room, good camp kitchen, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Vodaphone, reception quality was 5). Noisy, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Clean UC electric bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for few days.

Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. UC gas bbq (free), dismal bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No pool. Suitable for few days.
Likes: Drive through sites. Peaceful.
Dislikes: No curtain and poor drainage in showers made for wet change area. In peak times I think the long narrow site would have been a very tight squeeze.

Manager's name is Pat and Will. Lovely park, very green and well maintained. All sites are grassed. Good sized dog paddock to exercise animals. Be aware that whilst some caravan parks have dog rules and don't enforce them these guys do enforce them which is good as they are very open about this upfront. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice Very good value for money ($24 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Manager's name is Will, Pat & Sandy. Very nice park, well worth staying at. I would have rated this park "4" if the amenities block had been a bit better. The park grounds are exceptionally well maintained - lots of trees, lush green, cut grassed areas. Attractive flower beds add to the beauty of the park. Dogs are permitted with prior approval. There is zero tolerance of a dog being off lead at any time other than inside the dog paddock. The dog paddock is a big area, fenced but no gate, for dogs to walk/run off lead. Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, very good value for money ($21.60 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, large sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, car wash, secure entry. Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere, a few permanents. Pets at manager's discretion, zero tolerance to dogs off leash unless in the dog paddock Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in average condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: The large unpowered site area gives the feel of being in parklands - well cut, green grass and lots of trees (no lighting in that area). All sites are drive-through. Open space and trees in the un-powered site area - just lovely, with lots of birds. Dog paddock was a great place to exercise the dog. A bin was provided in the paddock for dog poo bags. Area kept very clean by those using it.
Dislikes: Amenities block needs a good "spring clean", around the ceiling/window areas. When all showers in use the ladies was like a sauna, impossible to see in the mirrors. Lots of shade in the un-powered area but in warm weather there is not enough shade for all of the drive-through powered sites
Parking: Parking lane available
Added Touches: Camp fire area (2) adjacent to the barbeque / camp kitchen. Firewood was supplied.
Local Information: For those that like walking - suggest a visit to Mt Schank, with a walk to the top and around the rim. Also the walks around Blue Lake, Valley Lake and to the Tower are well worthwhile. Some walks are very steep but worth the effort.

Nice park, well maintained, very friendly managers plus Oscar the housecat. We stayed in a basic ensuite cabin which was fully equipped but BYO linen; $88 2A per night before BIG4 discount. Cabin was clean, well maintained, and very waterproof during the howling rain storm that we knew was coming, hence our choice of not staying in the usual canvas home. Powered sites looked nice, all grass I think, well spread out so even if the park was full I don't think you'd feel crowded. Though this would probably mean that some sites might be further from the amenities than you might wish. Games room and mini golf plus tiny train park are child-friendly options, playground is very basic and old style with no shade. Good location which is walking distance along the creek to town where several pubs with nice dinner offerings. Also recommend Sweet Espresso Cafe in town for good coffee. Naracoorte is a good driving distance to Coonawarra wineries. Would definitely stay here again if in the area as they're such nice people.

The cleanest toilet block I have ever seen. Manager's name is Arthur. Drove into the caravan park and was met by the manager who was sat on the balcony having a cigarette and a coffee. We booked in and was told rather rudely that the milk was in the fridge in the office and to take one, and a container with tea, coffee and sugar was slapped onto the counter. The Manager commented, "Not sure if the room has been cleaned yet". We went to the cabin and from the onset the building was dirty on the outside - cobwebs on the air conditioner and generally needed a thorough clean. We tried to overlook the outside and went into the cabin. Not bad but definitely not as clean as it could have been. When I booked the accommodation - direct with the park by phone - I booked a cabin and there was no mention of bedding not being included and this would be an extra charge. I have never stayed in a cabin where bedding and towels have not been included. When we enquired at reception - we were told, "That is an extra charge - has the bed been made". The manager was so rude. We left the park and forfeited our payment choosing to pay to go stay in a motel. Would not recommend this park to anyone.

Well this was a very disappointing park. Access is good and it is well located in a great little town that in all other aspects seems to pride itself on its tourism and service. On arrival we asked for a powered site ($25) but were told that we had to take an ensuite site ($30) as there were no powered sites available - the park was empty but the manager doesn't like to issue the powered sites "unnecessarily" as he has to then open the amenities blocks and subsequently has to pay for their cleaning. Anyway, as we were staying 2 nights, and for the 2nd night all of the ensuite sites were booked, he reluctantly gave us a powered site and allowed us access to the amenities blocks. The amenities were good - two newish, modular blocks in good condition. The rear of the grassed sites was used as a bit of dumping area for old machinery, trailers etc and they were all overgrown so we took a site near the amenities - this area was recently covered with sand (but not too recently as the weeds had grown up to well over 300mm high and so we just parked on top of them). While we were there the manager did mow the grassed areas and this showed some improvement. There were no sullage connections, so we discharged grey water onto the base of the perimeter poplar trees. The general appearance of the park is poor and not enhanced by the number of very old unused caravans scattered around. It was sad to find that every winery we visited was aware of the poor standard of the caravan park but felt there was little they could do, even though they recognised the impact on tourism to the area. Unfriendly staff. Poor value for money ($25 2A, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Mostly level sites, poor night lighting, no sites with concrete annex slabs No pool. Suitable for overnighter.

We think this is a lovely little park, small and intimate and in a lovely location (right on a beach). Sites are reasonably well spaced, and each bay (of two sites) is nestled into the foreshore foliage, which is appealing and a windbreak. Most sites have cement slabs, but there is a lot of green grass throughout the park. There are minimal facilities (an amenity block, which is clean but a bit dated), a camp kitchen, and a small laundry. The laundry facilities are free - yes, truly. All sites are level. The park is located on a busy road but there was no noise which bothered us. The price we paid was $24 a day, which was reasonable value. The nearby town has a nice cafe and restaurant and a good hotel for meals. The general store is well stocked. The region has some nice scenic coastal drives, and Mt Gambier is only a 20 minute drive away. We would come back and spend a week here, very happily.

Signposted as first park on main road to town, right hand turn and again right at a tight roundabout park is 150m on RHS. Large vehicles and vans would find it difficult to get around the corners. The park had a problem with a pump failure. The water quality was very poor just after this occurred. There were not very many occupied sites at the time and I felt that the management could have advised us to save the clean-up of a mud filled hose. The amenities were cleaned once per day and just before cleaning the bins were overflowing. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Friendly staff. Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($38 2A per night powered). We paid peak rates as we visited this park in school holiday time. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, dump point Family/friendly atmosphere. Electric bbq. Basic playground in average condition. Heated pool is shaded, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for few days, well maintained park.
Likes: We stayed in peak time and the amenities were cleaned 3 times a day and were very clean. Unfortunately the morning clean was at an inconvenient time.
Dislikes: We were not asked when we booked in what size our van was and when we got to the park with the van hard up against the back boundary, our draw bar was on the (rather narrow) road by about 18 inches. Lucky we had a corner site and put the van in sideways. We do not have a huge van. The sites are wide enough to have a van, annex and park a car but are not deep enough. Not enough washing machines and lines at peak times.
Parking: Plenty of space to park about three vans when booking in without blocking the road.
Local Information: Close to Robe but not right in the town. Walk across the road to the beach, which is very nice. Nice walk along the cliff path towards the town.

Gorgeous spot and just the sort of caravan park we like, with (almost) all the amenities but you still feel like you're on holiday in the countryside, not surrounded by concrete. The park is in heritage listed grounds with lovely lawn and trees, tucked in behind Lake Fellmonger. Close to the beach as well. Possibly not the best choice to visit during summer school holidays because it was pretty packed - so it must be kid friendly. Has a playground but no pool, enormous camp kitchen, good amenities. Showers did get overloaded, though we didn't notice the hot water running out, you just had to wait during peak times. Possibly this is due to the fact that most of the families in residence at this time were in tents or small pop-top caravans, so no-one would have their own facilities. No sites had concrete, and while they would accommodate large vans you wouldn't want to be scared of tucking yourself into a tight space, especially in peak with loads of cars parked everywhere. Just a short drive to town which was a cute little place, nice pubs, great local coffee, fabulous butcher (think lamb & chardonnay sausages). We would definitely return if in the area, though would try to land off-peak just for a little more peace and quiet. We paid $40 per night before TT discount, which is possibly excessive but not unexpected.

Likes: Lovely location and atmosphere on the lake. Very well equipped camp kitchen area.
Dislikes: No sullage. We were given a double site for our 21' foot van but if they actually booked out this as 2 sites in peak season they would be almost impossible to access for even the smallest van.

Likes: We arrived in a howling gale and had intended to stay in another park in town close to the surf beach. We looked and felt we would be blown out to sea, so went here and what a blessing. Because of the parks position it is sheltered from the main winds and is superb.
Parking: Room for a couple of vans on the road in, its narrow but is fine for any van size.
Local Information: Try the local pub, the one closest to the park on the right, amazing old world English atmosphere and food to die for. Fishing for bream in the lakes close to the park is good with the park staff offering genuine advice.

Bushland Camp, Southend
http://www.southendcaravanpark.com.au/Bush%20Land.htm
Half way between Millicent and Beachport, turn left at Southend turnoff for 5km. Need to book with the Southend-On-Sea Caravan Park for the gate key and be directed to site. Pets on leash at all times, keep pet under control to preserve fauna.

This is a unique chance to camp very close to the beach in a rustic setting. You have the choice of two areas both backing the sand dunes on a wonderful beach. At this time we are the only people here and it's great to go to sleep with the waves crashing on the shore 100m away. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money ($16 2A per night). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with annex slabs, shade to some sites, poor water quality. No wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. No playground, no bbqs, no pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families.
Likes: It's the location, the park is really just a grassy paddock behind the beach where we are but the other option is set up with well shaded sites and fire pits. There is no power or water available.
Local Information: This is a little village by the sea.

Absolute bush camping for tents, small caravans and campers and small mobile homes all self contained. Bush sites have some shaded areas, divided for individual campers. Site is scattered and has two toilets with running water, one with tap inside. All water supplied by tank and needs monitoring if children using same as taps can be left leaking loosing precious water supply. A children friendly area with a high sand dune between site and the beach front, although recommend walking or driving around to beach area, which is also accessible by 4WD. Good fishing area and known fishing fleet leave the jetty site which can be heard at early hours in the morning. Also the roar of the sea surf, often prevalent. Lots of bird life if visitors willing to sit quiet and watch the 'world' go by. Lots of fauna animal and I suspect rabbit droppings around the site. Not enough to put anyone off to stay. Southend Caravan Park managers look after disposing of the rubbish from drums at sites. They are responsible for keeping the peace for any unruly visitors, who want to annoy others with the driving habits not conducive to taking care on how they drive, or the volume their music and loud voices carry. If visiting at low peak times, eg not Christmas holidays and other busy times, this is a very quiet and good place to stay. At the time I visited for one person tenting (no power at any sites), and while some areas are reasonably flat, others can be a bit rough, the price was $7.00 per night. Pets allowed on leash with managers discretion. Area is a great fishing spot and 4WD and motorbikes use the beach in low tide to drive around Rivoli Bay to Beachport. Good tracks around to the back beaches to Cullen's Bay, the site of a drownings in the past and also sites to view the pounding seas. If you are really fit, you are able to walk from Cullen's Bay to Southend through the sand dunes. There is also a walk from the Park Rangers house to the Lighthouse and also along the top of the cliffs back to the jetty, which overlooks the Bay and Southend. Walking along the beach with your dog is permissible, but do watch out for vehicles. Southend is about 20 mins from Millicent. No lighting at night. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice. Good value for money ($7.00 1A per night, unpowered). Adequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, no sites with annex slabs, shade to some sites, poor water quality. No rec room, no camp kitchen, secure entry, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. No playground, no bbqs, no pool. Suitable for few days, suitable for families.
Likes: The quietness, peacefulness and bird life to veg out. I think this is the best place close to home
Parking: Outside the Southend Caravan Park and able to turn vehicle around to transfer to the Bushland site
Added Touches: Open fire sites within rock/cement surrounds near camp sites
Local Information: Fishing from the beach, jetty, boat (if you have one), advice from the managers. Fishing table at the jetty site. Small grocery shop with post office facilities. Kiosk at the caravan park, good advice for fishing tackle required and bait.
Roads: Bitumen road into Southend and around the town. Back beach, metal road can be driven with 2WD, rough sandy track at the back of Southend for 4WD through Bevilaqua's Ford. See Park Rangers for advice and walking trails around the area.

Likes: The people were friendly, a lot of families, a nice close walk to the beach. The beach is a good swimming spot for kids.
Dislikes: The toilets and showers were a long walk for the unpowered sites at the end.
Local Information: Fish and chip shop and general store are a combined business. The service is very unfriendly and the food is terrible. Would not recommend to anyone who enjoys good fish and chips.
