American River Camping Ground, American River
http://www.kangarooisland.sa.gov.au/page.aspx u=223#e170
Once off the ferry travel on the Kingscote Rd. After about 25km turn right at American River turnoff. Unpowered campground, about 10km along the road. (Contact phone number unknown.) Dogs on leash.

Manager's name is Brenton. This camping ground was breath of fresh air after the crowdedness of Kingscotte. Quite big sites suitable for a caravan. Choose your own. Shower and toilet block was cleaned every day and had hot water and soap dispensers. 3 minute showers and then the water would cut out. The setting was right on the river. Windy on the first day but after that fairly calm. River not suitable for swimming but good for fishing. We loved staying here and will stay again next time. Very friendly staff. Price was as expected, very good value for money ($15 A3 C1 per night unpowered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, large sites. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for few days, well maintained park.
Likes: Quite and big in a beautiful setting. Great amenities and excellent value.
Dislikes: No tap for cooking or dishes. Possibly due to the drought though.
Added Touches: The caretaker introduced himself and was very friendly
Local Information: American river has a shop and a pub and the best children's playground on the whole of Kangaroo Island. Has a popular fishing pier, jetty and boat launching ramp.
Roads: Great Roads

Antechamber Bay Campground, Antechamber Bay
http://www.environment.sa.gov.au/parks/Find_a_Park/Browse_by_region/Kangaroo_Island/Lashmar
About 40 mins from Penneshaw on a dirt road. Run by National Parks. Self registration. At the time we stayed the self registration bay was not operating so our stay was free. No power. No pets allowed.

This is a very basic camping ground run by King Island National Parks. There is a toilet block with flushing toilets and water but it is not suitable for drinking. The grounds are within walking distance of the beach and the Chapman River. Suitable for camper trailers but caravans may have some difficulty getting onto the sites. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, some unlevel sites. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. No playground, no bbqs, no pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: Fabulous location near beach and pristine Chapman River. Very peaceful and screened from the wind. Flushing toilets most unusual but very welcome in this type of location. It was a bit of a walk to get to them but a nice change from pit toilets.
Dislikes: Not really a 'dislike' just a warning to others. Beware of ants. We were not prepared and our camper trailer was infested after only one night.
Roads: Well maintained diirt road for most of the way.

Park Terrace. Follow the signs from the outskirts of town. Take the first turn left at the golf course and follow the signs. Ph: 08 8837 3262. All pets allowed.

Manager's name is Julie & Bronte Buchannan. Plenty of amenity blocks around the park which means most sites are close to one or another of them. The park is divided by a creek and to access the other side you need to go out onto the main road and around the back. Both entries are secured. A lot of permanents here, but they generally are only weekenders by the sounds of things. There are a lot of smaller sites (ours was very squeezy for our 21 foot van) but we managed to get in. Getting out was a whole different issue. It definitely pays to go for a walk around first before attempting movement here. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($28 2A per night. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, shade to some sites, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, secure entry, book swap available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 3). Noisy, claustrophobic park, too many permanents. Basic playground in good condition. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.

Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Manager's name is Ric & Elaine O'Brien. In two sections with a creek down the middle. We stayed at an en suite site and it was amongst all permanents. We arrived on a Saturday and it was crowded and noisy. Most permanents left on Sunday and the remaining two nights were very quiet. Mostly permanents, with some spots on the other side of the creek for travellers. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($25 2A per night, ensuite, off-peak season). Inadequate number of tourist sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, no sites are shaded. Claustrophobic park, too many permanents. No pool. Nice neat and tidy park and northern end of Yorke Penninsula. Large park divided by deep gully but 90% permanents and annuals. We had an en-suite and found reasonable value for money. Friendly management, management was helpful. Average amenities, were in good condition. Quiet, shady park, suitable for a week or more, the park was well maintained.
Likes: Raking for crabs was a new experience for us. Managers happily lent equipment.
Added Touches: Crab cooking and cleaning facilities available.
Local Information: Ardrossan has the best bakery that we encountered in 4 months travelling! There is a golf course located adjacent to the park.
Roads: Good.

From Penneshaw, drive towards Kingscote, turn right at Brownlow turnoff and follow signs to the caravan park. Ph: 08 8553 2394. Pets allowed, bond applies.

Manager's name is Con, Helen, Pamela, Lynn & Dennis. The only positive things I can say about this park are that the one manager we met was friendly, it is quite close to Kingscote and other Kangaroo Island attractions. The one amenity block is tiny with only 3 female toilets & 3 showers & 3 male toilets, 1 urinal & 3 showers. Far too small to cope with the demand. The laundry only has 2 washing machines and 1 dryer ($4.00 to use). The park is close to a beach but the wet sand is like black quicksand. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Poor value for money ($31.00 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to all sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by. Poor laundry, no rec room, late checkout allowed, good camp kitchen, dump point, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. UC bbq, area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: Good location for visiting Kingscote and most of Kangaroo Island's attractions.
Dislikes: Very small amenity block. Park very dusty and dry. No grass - looks scruffy.
Added Touches: Fish cleaning table
Local Information: Approx. 3kms to Kingscote. Fairy (blue) Penguin tour in Kingscote. Ozone Hotel & Bella Restaurant & pizza serve good meals.

Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, average sized sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to most sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Managers where great. Although there is no pool, the park is located on the beach. Everything was cleaned thou-rally. Close to most attractions. Found it to be a great base camp. The manager would walk the park ground at regular intervals, making it feel safe. Helpful with ferry booking and provided a discount for ferry.
Dislikes: We found the town center was distant (3km away).
Added Touches: Bus to town when asked for. Discount coupons available. Fish cleaning area. Fish freezing service.
Local Information: Great fishing nearby. Great pub meals.
Roads: Road good, no shoulders, don't have to leave bitumen to pass or overtake

We found this park to be adequate, stayed 2 nights in an unpowered site. Sites were very sandy/dirty but we are in a drought. Think the price is a bit expensive for an unpowered site. Were only 3 toilets and showers and while we did not find a problem with this I can see that it would be an issue in busier times - even though we were over whilst Kangaroo Island Cup was on. Staff friendly at check-in, had receipt from online/phone payment. 2 fridges were almost empty so for unpowered campers this was very useful. Good bbq area in general although found it a bit strange that the washing up area was separate and only one sink. Couple of times had to wait for others to do their dishes first. Either someone stole or cleaner was overzealous as our crumpets disappeared from freezer. They had signs up to label all food but no textas were provided so found this a bit odd. Also had signs everywhere for batteries not to be charged at power points due to fire hazard. Personally I find this hard to believe and paying $27/night think I should have been able to charge batteries in power points whilst in attendance at least. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, poor value for money ($27 2A per night unpowered, peak period). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, very few sites are shaded, adequate taps close by, good camp kitchen. Quiet, not enough shade. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: Good bbq area and free bbqs. 2 fridges, both had plenty of room in them.
Dislikes: Separate area for dishes. Toilets very squishy, had to be careful not to get caught on hooks on back of toilet door. Can see that plenty of hooks in shower are useful but question the need for so many in such small toilets.

This was a very disappointing park. Throughout our stay the place was packed as it was peak time. We had some space because we did not require power, but the powered sites were very small with very little space to move around. There were clearly not enough amenities. 3 male and female showers and 3 male and female toilets with around 200 people requiring them at the same time of the day. In the morning before going out touring or on return. 1 washing machine was working during our stay. New management has just taken over, so possibly some changes for the better will occur during the year. Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, poor value for money ($41 A3 C1 per night unpowered). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, hot water was usually adequate but not when busy. Inadequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, poor night lighting, small sites, hard to negotiate into site, poor water quality, adequate taps close by. Poor laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point. Noisy, claustrophobic park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere. UC bbq, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: Not much. Good position to travel around the eastern half of Kangaroo Island
Dislikes: Small sites, no shade. Noisy at night, especially small children riding bikes and playing around amenities, but there was nowhere else to play. Publicity states it is close to a safe swimming beach but it is tidal and very weedy. We did not swim at this beach. Plenty of beautiful beaches but you have to drive to them
Local Information: Ozone pub was fantastic. Emu bay is a drive on beach and was fabulous. Lots of other natural attractions nearby or within 50km. Town pool next to the beach
Roads: Generally good roads on the island with one or two exceptions. Not all roads are bitumen but were safe for a 2WD car.

Island View Drive, on the foreshore. Ph: 08 8537 0372. Pets allowed.

Manager's name is Rob and Jane. Lots of dogs around. Friendly staff, average staff response to complaints Good value for money ($25 2A 1C per night, powered, peak season). We paid $31.25 because of Easter min booking required. Inadequate number of amenities, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is bad, there was inadequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, no sites with annex slabs, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, no camp kitchen, late checkout allowed, disabled facilities, no wireless internet available. Peaceful, claustrophobic park, not enough shade, a few permanents. No playground, no bbqs, no pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: We had a nice flat site with some shade which had lovely views of the lake, very basic park, good place for the kids to ride their bikes
Dislikes: There was a sign in the amenities block saying fishing was allowed but were then TOLD OFF by a quite rude permanent when we wanted to & when we caught up with the owner we were told it wasn't allowed. You get the feeling the permanents don't want tourists in their park. Also had an issue with the lights in the bathrooms turning off after a few mins to save power, not good when you are in there with the kids at night. Never had a hot shower, always cold water and bins only emptied once over the Easter 5-day break.
Parking: There is no office onsite so no parking needed, bookings all done over the phone before you get there.
Added Touches: Right next door to the boat club so great for boating people. Very peaceful surroundings.
Local Information: A great place to do nothing
Roads: sealed roads all the way.

Manager's name is Managers Harold & Chris. Its almost 12 months since we visited this area, were told by Adelaide friends new managers had improved park; a flash in the pan it would seem after first burst of promised enthusiasm. Average staff friendliness, bad staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, reasonable value for money ($19.50 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were dirty, condition is reasonable, water pressure is bad, there was inadequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), good camp kitchen. Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade, a few permanents. Clean UC electric bbq, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in average condition. Suitable for few days, suitable for families.
Dislikes: Park once again was untidy, un mowed lawns, septic was on the nose, fish scrap bin was ready to walk by itself, hand basins, toilets and floors not touched in 6 days we were there. Manager seemed not to care that one person's dog ran around loose in the park, and another person's dog, in a kennel outside their van barked at every movement.
Local Information: Good local store, papers, post office, the best Hamburgers and chips we have ever tasted, great value and friendly little shop. Supermarket at Edithburgh has closed, so go prepared with provisions.
Roads: Good roads in all directions, although the Council could do a bit of work on the scenic drive, it's a bit juddery

Manager's name is Charlie & Jenelle Tooze. We stayed here the week prior to Easter. There is a 100 year old stone cottage on the property that is available for accommodation & they have an old windmill on site & the grounds are well maintained. The bathrooms have all been upgraded & tastefully decorated with pictures on the walls. Small extras like a seat in the amenities room is appreciated. Lighting is poor but does add to the country appeal. We stayed for three days but we didn't want to leave. Surf, bush walking, flora and fauna, all within easy car distances - if you are bored here you have major problems. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, good value for money ($20 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to most sites, drive-through sites, poor water quality, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, good rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), good camp kitchen, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point, van parking. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean bbq. Basic playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for few days, well maintained park.
Likes: Openness; Country style setting yet close to beach - best of both worlds; Old stone buildings for camp kitchen & games room with old collectables surrounding walls and shelves, kangaroos & birdlife is abundant visiting the park. Sky channel TV available in games room
Dislikes: Bore water
Parking: Parking was really easy
Added Touches: Kids activities are available, however, we had no children with us. Was able to choose own site and take extra room as it was in a quiet period.
Local Information: Corny Point is very handy to many of the great scenic drives. One of the best coast lines you will see! Yorke Peninsula is a beautiful region especially towards the end of the foot and the western side. The Innes National Park has some great walking tracks, plenty of lighthouses for the nautical buffs, there is a huge wind farm and great viewing area. The scenery is on the scale of the Great Ocean Road in many parts. Lots of dirt roads to get to many scenic areas but ok for cars as well as four wheel drives
Roads: Main roads on Yorke Peninsula are bitumen but there are many dirt roads however, most of them are of good quality

Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, very few annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, secure entry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Peaceful, open & roomy park, a few permanents. Clean UC gas bbq ($1.00), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for month or longer.
Likes: Location location location. Easy 5 minute stroll to town - which has 2 hotels, fish and chip shop and few other misc shops. Great coastal walks in either direction from the park. Very friendly 'permanent holiday van' people sharing local knowledge. Yorke Peninsula is spectacular
Dislikes: There is a wind farm about a km from Edithburgh - for good reason - very windy, so batten down the annex.
Parking: Check in bay at reception

Management of this park do not seem to know the size of their sites, what constitutes a large van or even if the site was vacant. Despite being informed of our large van, all of the advised sites were either too small or still occupied by late checkouts in mid PM. Told to see if you can find a vacant site acceptable. We found one long enough but very narrow so instead of our intended long stay, we only stayed one night. Average staff friendliness, bad staff response to complaints. Reasonable value for money ($24.00 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). Amenities are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable. Inadequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans. Dump point, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Noisy, claustrophobic park, too many permanents.
Dislikes: Max speed limit rule but not enforced

Good sized blocks, nice grass sites,$99 a week special!! Fish and Squid plentiful off the jetty in walking distance and a great roast at nearby Coobowie. Lots of roos and rabbits in the park. Amenities could do with additional clean when the park is so full. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice. Good park with large level sites. A large park with a number of annuals but plenty of tourist sites. Only drawback is that there are far too few amenities. Toilet area became very smelly with park only moderately full and hot water system could not cope in showers. The amenities were kept reasonably clean. Suitable for any length of stay and we would stay again. Good management, friendly management, management was helpful. Good value for money.

Western end of South Coast Road on Kangaroo Island. Drive towards Flinders Chase National Park and park is on the right before you enter park, was easy to find, adequate signage. Ph: 08 8559 7201. No pets allowed.

We loved this park for its spaciousness and wildlife. There is even a nature walk. Koalas in the trees lots of birds, including Cape Barren Geese. The manager was friendly and even lent us a mousetrap to deal with a stowaway that had made its home in our camper trailer. It is a very well maintained park with an easy going atmosphere. We stayed for 4 nights and loved every minute. Very friendly staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money ($25 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with annex slabs, shade to some sites, drive-through sites. Basic laundry, no rec room, camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 3). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Suitable for a week or more.
Likes: Open peaceful park with lovely grounds and wildlife.
Added Touches: Nature walk. Choose your own site.
Local Information: This park is very close to Flinders Chase National Park and all its attractions. The seals at Seal Bay are brilliant. Go early when the seals are most active and the tourist group size is small. Remarkable Rocks are awesome.

Manager's name is Ty Beckwith. We had seen this park on a previous visit to Kangaroo Island and wanted to stay there as we were campers and it is close to a lot of attractions on this end of the island. EG: Flinders Chase National Park, Cape Borda lighthouse, etc. Really enjoyed the atmosphere at the park, quiet and spacious where we were - unpowered. Plenty of animals around, they have a koala walk and also a lagoon walk. Only did both at end of visit and liked them both. Saw 1 koala, lots of wallabies and an echidna on Koala Walk. Over at the lagoon there were some black swans and other waterbirds, one big roo. Take note - fence here is electric but wasn't signposted, boyfriend touched it and was very surprised to get a jolt. Lagoon area looked nice. Average staff friendliness. Price was as expected, good value for money ($20 2A per night unpowered). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by, good camp kitchen. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No pool. Suitable for few days, suitable for families.
Likes: Koala Walk and Lagoon Walk, amount of wildlife around. Park seemed well spread out and was therefore relaxing place to be. Had a good undercover/indoor free bbq area and had enough room in fridge for our food. Plenty of tables undercover. Washing up area was a bit squeezy as right near fridge door, kitchen was a bit small if there were any more than a couple of people in there at a time but had good facilities. Toaster, kettle, microwave, stove, bbqs, etc.
Dislikes: Had to wait a few times for shower/toilet as they are in together, near our sites there were 4 to share amongst campers/camper vans but there was another block further away. Looked like they may be doing some work to put more in. What I did not like was that when I arrived they could not find my receipt for online/phone booking and had not posted me one. Therefore I was basically asked by Ty, "How do we know you've paid " Had to get on their internet and show them my payment online on my credit card statement. Think their record keeping needs a bit of work, someone had put in the book that I'd enquired but then hadn't completed entry that I'd paid for one night and one night was owing.
Local Information: I would just like to make people aware that there is no autogas on this end of the island. At the time only available at Kingscote and Penneshaw. After being told by National Parks staff that Vivonne Bay & Kangaroo Island Wilderness Lodge had gas we continued our sightseeing, only to find out when we needed to fill up that neither of them sell autogas. We very nearly ran out and had to miss attractions on last day in an attempt to drive straight through to Kingscote and just made it with 1 litre to spare. This was stressful and would have been avoided if we had been informed correctly. Tourism info only states this on about last page of their brochure.

This is the one in town, just off the main road in from Strathalbyn. Relaxed attitude nice. CMCA friendly excellent deal in winter of stay 9 pay 6 which brought the $30 price down to $20 a night. Just kept renewing this deal, so stayed 27, paid for 18. They do extras such as soup, scones too. Nice park, grassy, big sites, putting in a new dump point (though let us use old one on way out as new wasn't ready yet for big rig). Big jumping pillow for kids, excellent camp kitchen if you need it. Lovely toilet and shower facilities, nice laundry, good price. Handy location in town yet not noisy. Jenny was at a conference in Adelaide for nearly a week, nice place for adults to stay, Woolies in Goolwa, and close to Victor Harbor too with Woolies, Coles and other shops. Lots to see around the whole peninsula. Best way to see Granite Island penguins now (depleting badly!) is to go to Penguin Rescue Centre at feeding time, lady is lovely and you get great photos. Warmer than night walk too. Not well advertised, but nice man at tourist centre in Victor Harbor (near Island) suggested it. Horse drawn tram to go across the Causeway, though I scooted and Adrian chose to walk. Only drawback with the caravan park was the wind. We had our awning out, wind sprang up badly one Sunday night, awning began flapping and rocking 5th wheeler, we tried to take it down, it got away (lifted Jenny up on the rope clear off the ground and I'm no lightweight), damaged parts of it. Park maintenance man came running to help, got ladder, others came to help too, very grateful. But, it cost us $400 to fix so that kind of spoiled the lovely discount So, stay here, lovely spot, beware of wind.

Manager's name is Brett & Kylie Goodman. Well signposted from the Victor Harbour / Goolwa Road approx 1 km from the town. A well maintained park close to town. The park had a special on when we arrived, pay for two get the third night free. Although most of the tourist sites are large there are a few small undefined ones on which the management tend to put short stay guests. The camp kitchen is one of the best we have seen, a large TV with comfy sofas, fridge, stove, microwave, seating on the verandah with a bbq. There was a jumping cushion right outside the camp kitchen so the kids could play while the parents cooked. Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($25 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, all level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes or 5th wheelers, no sites have annex slabs, no sites are shaded, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. good laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point, secure entry, van parking, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Peaceful, open and roomy, not enough shade, a few permanents. Clean gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere. UC, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Curtains in the showers which stops water getting into the drying area.
Dislikes: Our site was small and not well defined. There was also an old sullage point in the middle of our site which was annoying when trying to set up the chairs outside. The hand dryer in the ladies was out of action for the duration of our stay and no attempt was made to supply paper towels etc.
Parking: Outside reception
Added Touches: In winter, soup on Wednesday and scones on Friday mornings.
Local Information: Historical wharf; excellent boat trip to the mouth of the Murray through the Coorong; Steam train runs to and from Victor Harbour plus many more.
Roads: Bumpy

Manager's name is Brett & Kylie Goodwin. A mid-sized park which is clearly undergoing renovation. Half of the powered sites had older-style power boxes, half had brand new ones. Grass looked new and healthy, many small trees are being grown to provide extra shade. Drive through, and very large sites available. Amenities block very clean, laundry small. Great camp kitchen - in a converted cabin with flyscreens and all appliances including TV with couch, even has proper crockery and cutlery. BBQ on the deck of the camp kitchen, the decking is brand new and set around a large tree, a great place to relax overlooking the kids jumping pillow. Separate BBQ shelter also has free BBQs - domestic-style gas BBQs not those slow electric ones. There's also a new looking kids climbing playground. Paid $33 per night during school holidays. It's a bit of a windy place, not worryingly so but just a strong-ish sea breeze most of the time. Town is small but cute and the microbrewery down on the dock is great - open Wed-Sun and note it's a brewery not a pub with meals. We stayed four nights and used this as a base for the whole of Fleurieu.

83 kms South of Adelaide on Lake Alexandrina. 39 Noble Avenue, off Liverpool Road, 3 kms N of the ferry. Turn left at roundabout in centre of town on main road in, follow signs along river bank drive. Approximately 3 km drive to park. Ph: 08 8555 2737 or 1800 130 353. Top Tourist member. Pets allowed on leash.

This is a large park that is undergoing a transformation. A number of 'annual' lease holders (vans with permanent annexes) have recently moved out of the park and the owners are increasing the number of caravan sites (now over 100 powered sites). There is lots of green grass and the owner/operators are a family concern and very friendly - nothing was too much trouble. We were staying during 'schoolies week' but the schoolies that were there were well behaved and managed well by the owners. They even stayed up until 3am to make sure that the schoolies were transported quietly through the park. The owners provided sport equipment to the kids and were seen regularly engaging with them. All in all a good stay. Flat sites, with sullage points and good access to the facilities. Half of the toilets and showers were closed as there was only a handful of vans in the park. The showers had plenty of hot water and the cleanliness and maintenance was average - not spectacular, but clean and serviceable. There was no dump point but the owners asked for cassette waste to be emptied in the toilets (but with care). Cost at $28 a weekend night after discount was OK. The rate reduced to $25.20 a night after discount during the week. The park also has a number of units and cabin options as well as a motel up the front (which is probably under different management). Plenty to do in Goolwa. It is a nice town with plenty of eating options, lots of cockles (pipis) on the 4x4 beach and close to other towns like Strathalbyn, Middleton and Victor Harbor. We will definitely stay again - it is a short drive from Adelaide and a good long weekend away in the warmer months. Can be windy and very cool in winter/early spring.

Fair size park - combination of cabins, permanent/private caravan sites, about 20 powered sites and a large camping area. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, good value for money ($20 2A per night powered). Large amenities block, but most toilets and showers had doors locked - it appears they open facilities depending upon demand. Not the easiest place to find. Look for a couple of small signs in the town. This park is very much tuned to permanents with only a few tourist sites. Flat sites with plenty of night lighting. At $27 for two adults very much overpriced. Limited rubbish bins. The welcome was quite friendly. Water was OK. The showers and toilets are old but OK even if the toilet paper is the thinnest I have seen in 10 years of caravanning. The park is reasonably protected from traffic noise but the number of permanent structures is off putting for a tourist. The saving grace for the park is that it is located in a nice size town with most facilities available and within a couple of hours of Adelaide. We would not stay again. OK for an overnight stay but I think neighbouring towns of Moonta and Wallaroo would provide competitive options.

Top Tourist member. Pets at manager's discretion. No pets in accommodation, certain breeds not allowed.

This park had excellent tourist sites, level and well grassed. The amenities block was a little tired but clean, although it suffered badly from midges in the warm weather, attracted by the excellent lighting. Well away from the road, it was quiet and peaceful. An innovative touch was the boom-gate code on a sticker to go on the car dash, avoiding the need to carry the receipt around. There appeared to be a significant number of permanents, but these were well separated from the tourists. Some sites were very well shaded by thick tree cover and would be desirable in summer but consequently suffered from sparse grass.

A lovely park to stop at for an extended stay, staff were kind enough to go out of their way for us while we were there. Would highly recommend the park to anyone who asks. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($38 2A per night, ensuite). We paid $35 because of TT discount. Adequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, no sites with annex slabs, shade to most sites, ensuite sites available, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Kiosk, secure entry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: The birds are very friendly and we had a family of ducks (big and small ones) visit most days. Very peaceful for a large park and the multiple ensuite sites mean there's a good chance of getting one instead of the lottery you find at smaller parks. Would be quite happy to stay there long term if need be.
Local Information: If you like exploring there is so much to do, we enjoyed several 'get lost' days just driving around the back roads. Closest to Adelaide and Noarlunga is 1/2an hour away with all the shopping benefits. Coles in town is handy as are the numerous cafe's and dining spots.

Situated around 30km S of Adelaide this park is well placed for travellers wishing to base themselves on the Fleurieu Peninsular. Surrounded by vineyards and with around 160 lawned and shaded sites this is a great park in a pretty town in an famous wine producing area. It has about 15 en-suite units servicing over 60 sites, a large campers kitchen, 2 tennis courts, a pool and a large ornamental lake. The lake, like the lawns, are suffering from the drought and the resulting water restrictions but the park is still attractive. While well shaded this does impact on the lawn coverage and some sites are a little bare. The office staff displayed average friendliness although maintenance staff were better. There are some permanents down the back. Holiday periods and the grape harvest around March are times to avoid in this area. This is a quiet park with excellent facilities in pleasant surroundings and the surrounding area warrants a stay of at least a week. Many people had dogs and this is through arrangement with the manager. Both the dogs and their owners were very well behaved. We were told that this is the best park in Adelaide for people travelling with dogs. The one way Southern Expressway will get you into Adelaide quickly on weekday mornings and home again in the afternoon. Ask in the office about this unique facility or visit the wonderful Visitors Centre as you enter McLaren Vale township. With the Top Tourist discount an en-suite site cost around $28 per night which is good value.

Manager's name is Keith and Trish Dommenz. At the time of our visit the managers/helpers were Peter and Noeleen (who are caravaners themselves). Between them and the owners the park was kept exceptionally clean, as were the amenities. There is a great camp kitchen and BBQ area as well. We had a great 9 day stay and have rebooked for next year. The cost was $8 cheaper than other parks close by. It is only a small park with but 60 sites, 20 or so which are permanent (holiday) shacks. The Cockle train (local tourist attraction) runs behind the park but is only 4 times (return) each day. There is a local park just behind the caravan park, with a good playground, and the beach is only about 600m walk. With the kids play area out of the park it remains a very quiet place. There is no sullage to sites, so you run your hose to nearest tree or on lawn. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($30 2A per night, powered, peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Manager's name is Keith and Trish Dommenz. This is a small park and during the peak times you will need to book ahead. Outside school holidays you should be fine. The park is well kept with grassed sites that are watered and mown before occupation. Nice camp kitchen with well maintained amenities. Good showers which could be stretched in peak times. The manager couple are very friendly and helpful. Roads are gravel but well maintained. Sites are tight for larger rigs. The town is between Victor Harbor and Goolwa which are both worth a visit. In season, the Goolwa cockles are worth a dig on the beach (4x4 territory). You can drive to the sad Murray Mouth along this beach. In summary, good value, good facilities, small, but extremely friendly. The pub in Middleton was full on the Saturday night and put on a tasty, well priced snitzel.

Have been staying at this park for a week - for the tariff ($24 PN) during peak season - this camp is value for money to say the least. The main thing the toilet/shower area is kept spotlessly clean. Nice quiet park with mainly permanent vans but mainly unoccupied. On lake edge with plenty of European Carp being caught on the hook. Town is very quiet with nice bakery and pub in same. We have used the town as a stop off point to all the Fleurieu Peninsula - keeping out of the hustle and bustle which is now Goolwa/Pt Eliot/Victor Harbor. Just over 30kms to Goolwa. Only downfall for us - the low plain of the site causing problems taking van off tug and on tug.

This is a lovely little county park on the foreshore and this year Lake Alexandrina is looking beautiful with enough water in it for sailing. Despite being in the park during school holidays it was fairly quiet. The park stores caravans for owners who ring and have them put on site when required; there are also permanents scattered throughout the park. However it appeared that most travelling campers were positioned in the front island nearest the foreshore. There is a very well set up children's playground with lots of equipment in the foreshore park across the road. Likes: Lovely park, pretty gardens, well kept grounds, great sea front sites. Helped on to site, friendly staff.
Dislikes: TV reception very poor. The small 2 shower 2 toilet amenities block that were closest to our site had very dirty floors with built up grime around the edges and the doors and walls were covered with dirty finger prints. The wash hand basins and the toilets themselves were well cleaned. During our stay it appeared from the bits of toilet paper, dirt and hairs which remained for 8 days that the floors were given a token brush and mop round the middle. Very disappointing as in past years these amenities were spotless!

Manager's name is Georgina. Very unfriendly staff, bad staff response to complaints, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was much higher than expected, poor value for money ($25 2A per night powered). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to only some sites, were dirty, condition is reasonable. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, drive-through sites, hard to negotiate into site. Kiosk, secure entry. Quiet, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade. Clean UC electric bbq (pay), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for families.
Dislikes: Quoted price suddenly didn't apply to our 25ft caravan. Asked for a week, was able to get 6 days only. Showers always muddy owing to lack of paths and un-grassed dirt outside amenities. Was told they couldn't supply a mop because of 'workcover issues'. Given hassle over rent relief form because, 'if they signed it with the words - residential address - on it they would be liable for providing indefinite accommodation.' (Go figure).
Local Information: Liked town/region. Bad TV reception even using cable provided. Mobile phone reception - Good. Nearby Pt Hughes Tavern provided good lunch at decent price, and magnificent views over the gulf.

A good park that with a bit of TLC could be an excellent one. The park is situated on two levels. The lower level is beachfront with lovely outlooks but sites are cramped and really exposed to the prevailing winds. The upper level doesn't have the same outlook but is sheltered with larger sites. Management is OK. Amenities are adequate and clean. The upper level sites are large but could do with some tidying up. Average value for money at $28 per night, 2A powered site (school holiday rate). Good value outside school holidays.

The rest of the park are very well looked after sites occupied by permanents & cabins. The camp kitchen is great, this would be one of the better ones. Large games room. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($30.00 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). We paid $27.00 because of chain discount. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, no sites with annex slabs, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point, secure entry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Quiet, open & roomy park, too many permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.

Jetty Caravan park, Normanville

Formerly the Normanville Beach Caravan Park. Jetty Road, near Normanville jetty. OzParks member. Ph: 08 8558 2038. Pets allowed, on leash at all times.

Manager's name is Johanna and Stephen. This park has a delightful small town beach atmosphere, and it has a family and pet friendly welcome for visitors. Although there were permanents camped around the perimeter, this was not an issue. There are three main areas to choose from: up top, closer to the beach (but it can get very windy up there); down on the flats overlooking the tidal creek; or across the bridge in a flat area sheltered from the wind almost completely. We stayed in the latter area and were more than happy there but maybe next time would go for the spots overlooking the river. It is only a small creek. The toilets and showers were older but meticulously clean, and there was piped radio music all day, a nice touch. They were more than adequate for the numbers camped. All sites were flat and level, and a couple had semi-shaded trees. Sites were well spaced. The beach kiosk was within a three to five minute walk from the park with cappuccinos overlooking the ocean - bliss. The town was about a 15 minute walk away, with restaurants, a pub, bakery and grocery store. We did enjoy our stay here and will be keen to get back soon for another stay - but I would avoid the Easter and Christmas periods. Good value for money ($26 2A per night, off-peak season). Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, a few permanents. Dirty UC gas bbq (free).

Likes: The bed linen, towels, cutlery and crockery all very clean
Dislikes: Although we didn't expect much in a "basic" cabin, the air conditioner was too noisy to use, the TV was shot, couldn't alter colour, light and contrast gave up trying to view anything, the exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work and everything was still fogged up an hour after use, lack of power points, had to unplug microwave or kettle to use toaster etc. Young group came in late at night, in the cabin next to us, more a couple of hours later, rang office about the noise got recorded message, "no noise after 10 pm" doesn't mean anything, had to go and ask them to keep it down a bit, risky.
Parking: Small bay, would be chaos in peak periods
Local Information: Very pretty area, close to Goolwa etc. Couple of good local hotels for excellent value meals, The Royal was great, nice and clean, lovely meals, very friendly staff.
Roads: Good roads, parts of road into Victor harbor coming from Cape Jervis a bit hairy, especially if towing.

Manager's name is Amo & Kate. This park could be made into a top place with some very simple and basic changes. Mainly management & staff training. Be careful where you park especially if you have a big van. The small streets within the park are one way and the road is not very wide. This makes it difficult in some spots to manoeuvre and hitch up etc (you block the road off). A lot of the sites are unlevel, again an easy to fix problem but makes life hard when your chairs and table are unstable for a few days. Unfriendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, poor value for money. The price we paid was $58 for 2A for two nights with club membership; was a bit steep & $9 per night for our 8 yo granddaughter. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were dirty, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly unlevel sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to most sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, kiosk, secure entry, van parking. Noisy, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, no permanents. UC bbq (pay), dismal bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting. Good playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Close to most tourism spots. Great for kids and being school holidays there was a lot to do.
Dislikes: Amenities only cleaned once a day & this is not sufficient for a family park. Staff went "speeding" past often enough on their ride on buggies but failed to check the amenities on the way past. Staff unfriendly to adults & even children complained of the staff being grumpy when they went to the kiosk. I actually felt like I was intruding; the day we booked in there was no welcome. There is no camp kitchen & only one sink for the campers to wash their dishes & there was always a queue after meals. Also the positioning of the sink - under the windows to the toilets, you also had to dodge people in busy times queuing to wash their dishes to go to the toilet. There are no bins provided around the park only two large dumpster bins some distance away. These were over flowing for two days we were there. They also do not recycle the waste which frustrated me.
Parking: Space ok when we arrived. They also have a parking bay for when it's really busy but it's on the wrong side of the road for checking in.
Local Information: Lots of great local attractions; great for any age and something for everyone!

Manager's name is Amo & Kate. If you want somewhere to relax by the sea in peace and quiet, do not come on long weekends or school holidays. Even tho the rules state, no noise after 10pm, noise still comes from people who gather in groups, which can sometimes last until 1am. It is especially noisy when tent city sets up next to you and you can hear them change their mind. To make complaints, you have to go see the night manager because if complaints are made during the day, nothing is done. I have been coming here for 35yrs and my wife has been coming down here even longer and we both have noticed since the current managers have been here that the park is slowly going downhill. Average staff friendliness, bad staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Clean UC electric bbq (free), dismal bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. No pool. Likes: In the off season and between school holidays, it is very quiet and peaceful, especially down near the front.
Dislikes: On long weekends and school holidays, the park is packed out, very noisy and the rules are not adhered too. When the local surf lifesaving club have their Saturday night music event on, do not expect to get to sleep till after 1am, especially if you are down near the front as all you will hear is, thud thud thud of the music.

South Terrace. Drive through Port Hughes and head for the boat ramp, turn left before heading down ramp. Main entrance is on South Terrace, across the road from Emerson Street, not the gate near the jetty (that is the "old" Port Hughes Caravan Park). Ph: 08 8825 2106. No pets allowed.

Not to be confused with Port Hughes Caravan Park which is on West Terrace overlooking the jetty. Owned by the same people. Both parks are on the beach, but Tourist Village is protected by sand dunes. Check in for both sites are at the South Terrace park. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($29 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). We paid $28 because of Seniors Discount. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex matting to some sites, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, dump point, secure entry, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Excellent playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Loved the size of the toilets and showers, someone who has stayed at parks designed them I am sure. Show heads face away from dry change area. Very quiet park at this time, probably quite noisy when permanents are in residence. Boardwalk to beach. Matting at most sites rather than slabs.
Dislikes: The laundry was a long way away from most sites, there is a car park next to it, so best to drive if carrying washing.
Parking: Plenty of room for at least 4 rigs or more
Added Touches: Large fish cleaning area
Local Information: Fishing for crabs and squid was the go on the jetty. Local tavern and kiosk at jetty

This site is about location, location, location. It is situated in the small township directly onto the water-front with access to a reasonable beach and swimming area and a short walk to the jetty for fishing. The township is tidy and clean consisting of two shops and a pub. The caravan park is small with very compact sites with little space between vans. Highly patronised by families with small children during the school holidays. The amenity bock, which was nicely presented, struggled to cope with large numbers of people particularly those needs of the children. The water pressure is very good no sullage outlet or dumpsite. TV reception is poor to non. Small camp kitchen with BBQ. Given the limitations we had a great time here.

Follows signs but don't confuse with Port Vincent Caravan and Seaside Cabins. A good little park in a beautiful position with sea on two sides. Very quiet park but busy (full) just after school holidays with Adelaide retirees who seem to flock here when all the kids and families have gone. Good sized sites (some but not a lot) with shade and well maintained grounds and roads (green grass even!) Not a lot in the way of facilities but amenities are top class and price was reasonable. The description of the location on two beaches is a bit generous, one beach (sandy/seaweed - about 100m) is only swimmable at or near high tides and the other is typical of Yorke Peninsular shoreline - that is long, gently sloping sand/weed/rocks that make swimming or even walking impossible. Entrance to park is easy with parking and whilst Port Vincent is small it is suitable for a week or more (supermarket, butcher, pub, post office, etc). Kids would love the shallow water and sheltered coastline. Reasonable value at $25 2A, all touring sites with sullage, etc

Another example of park managers who shouldn't be in the industry if they don't want to deal with people, very abrupt. Unfriendly staff. Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Great location with sites right on beach front, good fishing all around, amenities were being upgraded while we were there and are very good, lots of grass, good fish cleaning area, lovely seaside town with communal playground just down the road from the park as well as cafes, shops and pub.
Dislikes: Grumpy managers, amenities and managers residence were being upgraded while we were there so rec room and half the amenities were closed but only temporary. As always we contacted the park before arriving to ensure they could accommodate a 32 foot fifth wheeler (which they said they could) but when we got there the allocated site was too small so we were given another which was also too small so the fiver hung out by about 6 inches where they then made us get some witches hats to put out on the road which was unnecessary as we were in a corner near the fish cleaning area. We would prefer to be told that they can't accommodate us when we ring so we can stay at another park.

This is heaven on earth and if it had the facilities many want, it would be 5 Star. Rapid Bay is at the end of the road, and only an hour or so from Adelaide but in the middle of nowhere. The park has showers, well sort of if you call a shower a shower rose on a pole in the middle of the park, water, well yes but its bore water and you have to hold the button on the tap to make it run and no power. What makes it amazing is the cost $6 per adult per night, the view, you can park right next to the beach parallel to the water and the peace and quiet. Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money ($12 2A per night). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is good. We stayed in this park because we were on a late ferry from Kangaroo Island. Not suitable for large rigs but as there were only 2 other vans in the park when we were there (3 days before Easter). We were given 2 sites and were able to drive through. The park is 80% full of very old, scruffy caravans - which are 'annuals' and 'onsite' vans. Only redeeming feature was the friendly staff and the very green grass. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Poor value for money ($28.00 2A per night, off-peak season). Amenities are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, water pressure is good, hot water was usually adequate but not when busy, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Basic laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, you can use your mobile wireless. Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade. UC bbq, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Dislikes: Toilet block and showers were in need of refurbishing. Very unusual, circular showers.

This small park in a delightful town & with great surrounding places to visit has to be one of the saddest we have stayed at. It certainly is not worth $25 per night to put up with disgusting permanents with dogs, motorbikes & bad mouths. There are permanents who are definite ferals who make a stay unbearable. The toilet block is in poor shape as you could imagine, the grounds are in poor shape, it's just sand & dirt, there are no slabs, nobody to greet you, the manager comes in the afternoon so there is no supervision & no work done on the site. This is not a site for the traveller; leave it to the ferals & stay in nearby towns who provide good parks. The BBQ shelter was the home of some alcoholic residents during the day & not a place to have a BBQ. Unfriendly staff, bad staff response to complaints. Poor value for money ($25 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were dirty, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. This is our second stay, first in 2007. Change of management has greatly improved staff friendliness and willingness to be flexible. Off peak price was as expected. Grassed sites with good shade some drive thru. Location is central enough to the shopping and eating districts. Amenity blocks more than adequate with a decent laundry. Dump site adequate. Water pressure good. Night lighting adequate.

Stayed 6 nights, powered site $24.30 per night with Top Tourist discount. Reception was very friendly and helpful. Our site, (No. 122) was a large drive-through site, very roomy, on a green shade cloth and was behind one of the amenities blocks of which there are three. The mat was very handy because we did get some rain. Good laundry, situated at the amenities block nearest to the reception quite a distance from most sites. The park was green when we were there as they had received some rain. It is a tidy park with permanents (weekenders). Access to park is via boom-gate and pin numbers to the amenities. There is a playground, large jumping pillow, a dump point and camp kitchen. We enjoyed this park as it was quiet, even though there were a lot of vans, and amenities were very clean. Victor Harbour is a lovely town with other nearby historic towns worth a visit. This park had everything we needed and we would certainly stay again.

Supply of "poo bags" available for you dog. This is a spacious, quiet park, clean & tidy, very well maintained. The sites near the amenities block are smaller than those at the back. The sites at the back are quite spacious with plenty of room for van/awning with vehicle at the side. There are a lot of permanent's cabins in this park, most were not occupied - assume for holiday accommodation. All were in very good condition and well maintained. Some sites would take large motorhomes and 5th wheelers. Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money ($27 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). We paid $24.30 because of FPA discount. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Parking: Parking for 1-2 cars & vans in front of the office. Would need to park on the roadway otherwise.
Local Information: Visit to Granite Island, the Bluff are good. Cyclists can cycle to or towards Goolwa along the Encounter Bikeway (follow signs). Stayed 2 nights, powered site $24.00 per night with senior's discount. Friendly helpful reception. We were allocated site No. 13, a level, long roomy site at the back of the park with carpet-like green mats. These mats were laid throughout the park and were a godsend because we were there when it rained. The mat was wet but we were not walking in mud. Our site did not have sullage so grey water went under the trees. Other sites did have sullage. This is a very small park, very near the ferry which takes you to Cowell on the Eyre Peninsula. Amenities, accessed via a key, were very clean and central to most sites. Good laundry with Elna press for ironing. The undercover camp kitchen/bbq was also very clean. Motel units available. Good night lighting. Good bakery nearby which could be accessed through a locked gate. Short walk to the jetty and also the shopping centre. We enjoyed this park - no jumping pillow or swimming pool - just a basic clean park. Recommended for any length of stay.

This park is about 3 kms north of the small township. Although my Telstra wireless showed 2 bars the signal was not strong enough to open a web page. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($30 2A per night, powered, peak season). We paid $27 because of TT discount. Inadequate number of amenities, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, no sites with annex slabs, shade to some sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point, secure entry, book swap available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 2). Noisy, a few permanents. Clean gas bbq (free). No pool. Suitable for few days, suitable for families.
Dislikes: Unfortunately we visited this park during the January school holidays and would definitely not revisit during holiday season. The park was full and sites very tight with the rear of our van overhanging the tent fly behind us and the laneways have kerbing which makes parking more difficult. Tents and their add-ons were right up to the kerb. Walking to the amenities you had to be very watchful of children wizzing around on their skateboards/scooters/bikes.
Local Information: Kadina is about 10k east of Wallaroo and has good shopping facilities with a Woolworths store and quite a variety of other smaller shops
