Council park on edge of sportsground. Nice location walking distance to shops etc. Amenities are fairly new and clean but fairly basic. Caretakers seem
to take turns between travels but that appears to work OK. TV reception is limited, we opted for satellite rather than position ourselves in the recommended
position for terrestrial. The park is right between an oval and the Riesling bike trail.
Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities.
Good value for money ($20 2A, powered, peak season).
Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water.
Mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to some sites, shade to most sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by.
Good laundry, no rec room, basic camp kitchen, late checkout allowed, book swap available, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless
(carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5).
Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents.

This is a council park run by Wayne and Anne. Caravan park is on the Burra creek and is very quiet. The town is only a short 2 min walk to the shops.
Powered sites are $20 2A which is excellent value. Sites have water and sullage and there is a Camp kitchen. WiFi available and Telstra phone reception was v good.
The town is very pretty and is full of historic buildings And you could spend a few days here very easily. The park is small so would recommend booking ahead or getting there early.

Very friendly welcome. The park is ideally situated just across the creek from the town. Sites are flat, can be a bit tight to get onto but acceptable.
Reasonable value for money. But unfortunately the amenities are too few and often full. The park has potential to be a ripper but needs urgent attention to the amenities.
A lovely town and the scones and cream in the Antique Shop across the creek well worth a visit and some well made coffee

Large grassy area, mostly sloping but some level spots. Several power poles, each with 4 - 6 power points. Mens and ladies toilets in reasonably clean condition.
One fully tiled ensuite shower room next to the ladies. Good shower with hot water, reasonably clean condition. Water taps available to fill containers.
Pick a spot and set up, and the caretaker comes around to collect the fees between 5 - 6 pm. $15 per site per night with or without power. This is a good base to explore the area,
particularly for big rigs which may have difficulty getting into the caravan park in town. Beautiful historic town with lots of lovely old bluestone buildings. Old copper mine site worth a visit.

Park is a little out of town next to the information centre. Most sites appeared to be surfaced with gravel. Park is on a hill, so
some slope on most sites. Sites at top of hill are drive through and appeared to be quite large, down the bottom of the hill where we
were the sites are much smaller, our 20'6" van had the spare wheel on the back edge of the site and the a-frame not far from the road.
The site was wide enough to have the awning out and the car next to it, but only just. People came in after us in a bigger van and were
allocated a ridiculously small site, despite their being bigger sites empty right behind them, so be prepared to argue if you need more space.
We realised a day after arriving that we hadn't been given the Top Tourist discount, despite presenting the card at check-in. There was no problem
when we went to reception and pointed this out, they gave us the discount in cash, but be alert. Amenities block servicing the area we were in
was a little small, and a bit tired.
Reasonable value for money ($29 2A per night, powered). We paid $26.10 because of chain discount.
Amenities are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap

This is a lovely park, a little old but well maintained. But it was all ruined by what has to be the rudest receptionist in
Australia. We were made to feel unwelcome, ruining her quiet Sunday afternoon, too much trouble and telling us to make up our
mind quickly about how long to stay. Advised no discount if we decided to book any additional nights later on. At $26.00 after TT
discount, we only stayed 2 nights to meet up with friends. Clean amenities, good camp kitchen, lovely gardens, lots of room for
kids to run around, good swimming pool. We wouldn't stay again.

This park has a swimming pool and there is a playground in the large parkland bordering. We found the reception staff to be friendly enough.
This is a Council park and they always seem to be bound by rigid rules, that managers don't want to bend, so it's better to just go with the flow.
There is a mix of grassed and gravel sites, some drive through, which are quite large. The other sites do seem to be a bit small.
Campfires area llowed only in the non powered area. The amenities are small, would not cope in peak times, were clean and tidy.
There is a large shelter shed, complete with open fireplace and we were told that wood is provided on weekends.
A cable is needed for TV reception and can be hired from the office. The camp kitchen is small, but adequate.
It is a very pretty park, with many large trees and open areas - room to kick a football. There are a number of cabins, all situated together, a little away from van sites.
No permanents. We liked this park and would stay again. Clare Valley is famous for its Riesling and the Shiraz is a nice drop also.
Visit the historic town of Mintaro - beautiful South Australian architecture. Burra has a good pub for lunch.
If you want to splurge a little, try the restaurant at Skillogalee winery.

Report submitted by FnJ, Sunshine Coast (25).
Around an hour ago we and our friends (2 caravans) arrived at a top tourist park at Clare. We had telephoned days prior to book and were told that we could just
arrive as they had plenty of sites. On this telephone call we told the receptionist that our van was 24 foot and therefore we would need a large site. On arrival
at the park today the receptionist was very abrupt and asked us if we had booked, when we told her about the telephone call we had made 2 days prior; she stated
that we should have booked.
I then told her that our van was a large 24 footer she sniggered and said that was not large and she would allocate the site. On proceeding to the site we found
it extremely awkward to manoeuvre on to and if a caravan comes in on the site opposite we won't be able to get out! Our friends have a tree on their site and found
it difficult to roll out their awning, I then proceeded to the bathroom which was very dirty to say the least with no toilet paper available in the cubicle I used.
We then walked down to the camp kitchen which smelt like dog urine! The caravan sites are either bare dirt or gravel. We did not get our top tourist discount and
were charged $24.30 per night when the advertised full price is $24, you also have to pay to connect to the TV aerial on top of park fees. I did not go back to
complain to the woman at the desk as her attitude was dreadful!
Very unfriendly staff.
Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($24.30 2A per night).
Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were dirty, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good.
Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, small sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by.
Good laundry, basic rec room, dump point, claustrophobic park, not enough shade.

When I first contacted the park the owner seemed friendly but extremely vague and said yes plenty of spots
for big rig. The price was different during the week to the weekend. We then turned up and then they seem to not
be able to find a suitable spot for us. We walked around the park in 40 degree heat with her to try to find a spot,
we said what about these spots oh no she said trying to grow grass and they were drive thru spots. Eventually finding an
average spot we had no other choice to stay in this park far longer than anticipated due to mechanical problems and no where
else available over the Easter. The park was mostly permanent vans which looked below average and the amenities were terrible.
The ladies and men's had big hole in the ceiling, 2 showers were not going and most of the toilet doors did not lock. The toilets
themself were clean but the building and floors were not. There was no soap or paper towel. The laundry was disastrous with 3
machines which were operational but the building was filthy and people obviously smoked in there with cigarette butts thrown behind
the dryer. Everything was shabbily put together. It was obvious the owners having been there for a few years could not be to
bothered with maintenance. There was plenty of lawn area that a camp kitchen or play equipment could have been put in. The pool
itself was clean but the surrounding concrete was dirty and your towel and feet got pretty dirty coming out of pool. The residences
also congregate around pool and smoke which was not pleasant. I asked the owners about this and was told, "oh what can you do they
are permanent." The office was often shut and no one available quite frequently.
Average staff friendliness.
Price was as expected ($23.90).
Amenities are close to only some sites, were dirty, condition is poor.
Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites.

This park is preferred to others in the Barossa valley as it's not a touristy type of place, there's no young families with ankle biters on bikes
roaring round and round or groups out for a boozy weekend. In fact the loudest noise is the birds and parrots in the trees. The park is large with
large sites spread out under the tree canopy, off main roads and is located in the local park area with gardens and lawns everywhere. Kapunda is
preferred to the other towns as its smaller, has lots of history and old buildings, and most importantly is 1/2 way between the Barossa and Clare
regions so one can stay here and do day trips to all the regional sites, wineries, old mining areas, and towns like Burra, Tanunda, Clare etc. The
grounds are in reasonable shape but could do with a makeover as they are somewhat old and tired; there are no slabs and the roadways aren't all that
flash. But, the toilet block and shelter shed with BBQ are near new and immaculate, and that's half the issue with a park. The entry is a jaw dropper
with the cast iron gateway into the gardens and playing fields with the caravan park off this roadway to the right with huge grassed camping areas under
the trees. This is a place worth staying in for a week or so and it's not far down to Gawler or Adelaide for a day in the big smoke.
Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice.
Reasonable value for money ($22 2A per night, powered, shoulder season).
Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good,

This is not a caravan park for tourists. We took one of only a handful of spots left available for non-permanent vans and cabins. The toilet block was in

Likes: Very helpful staff as we had a few caravan issues and they went out of their way to be of assistance. Quiet, lots of grass area at front
where our van was situated. Walking distance to town centre. Beautiful lake at the back of the park with tabled areas to have a quiet drink.
The ducks etc quite friendly. There are two ovals out front of the park for children to run wild, so to speak.
Dislikes: Only one complaint and that was no pathway between vans to get to the amenities if situated on the grass area as we were. Did not feel
comfortable walking past someone's open annexe to get to amenities.
Parking: Spacious area to pull up while checking in.
Local Information: You must stop at the local pizza and pasta/coffee restaurant across from the Vine Inn. Pasta was great. Also the Chinese Dragon
Restaurant - great duck. If needing a doctor, Nuriootpa has a wonderful medical centre with very attentive doctors and one of the friendliest medical
staff I have come across. Also if required to have blood test, only have to visit next door. Results very within the week.

Squishy park during peak periods. Nice big areas for children to run around - two town ovals on one side and a reserve on the other. The reserve has a
nice bike pathway and a native scrub/tree walk. The park had warnings of asbestos in concrete in the older shower blocks. The surfaces in these showers
were awkward. The newer amenities was good. The family bathroom contained a large bath shower and the baby bath. Plus a kid size toilet. Both laundries
were good. Again older building a little 'tattier'. Two management couples. Average hospitality. Camping sites nice and green. Lots of shade. Pine trees
dropped a lot of resin on to car and van. Nothing much but complaint or notification was that the pin-code for the toilets had been inscribed on the door.
Not a big deal but nothing was done about it and probably still hasn't. Park is very open to non park residents.

Huge park set around the town oval - all types of sites to suit all possible vans and campers, multiple large amenities blocks.
Great grassed area for camper trailers and tents including power, separate unpowered grassed area as well. Good camp kitchen near the grass,
not so accessible if your caravan site is down the other end of the park. Location around the oval suited us as we could watch the weekend's
cricket game but if you wanted to sleep in on the weekend the loudspeaker system might bother you (not sure if that's a regular occurrence or
if we were there during an event). The score lost points because we were told to pick anywhere we liked, which was fine, then some young blokes
in town for an overnight booze-up started pitching right in front of our draw bar and told us that they'd been assigned to our site number.
They didn't seem to believe that we were on that site, and we really didn't want them in front of our draw bar - we eventually convinced them
to camp on the next site, but it was a hassle, and if we'd been out when they arrived they would have set up. Swimming pool would be nice in
summer as the Barossa gets pretty warm. $180 2A. We paid $110 because of seasonal discount offer and BIG4.

Great for an overnighter, weekender or permanent. Pool is solar heated; not so nice on really warm days; more like a spa. Great lawn areas,
playground for the kids and a jumping pillow. BBQ area (20 cents for 15 mins), the camp kitchen is right there with it; very handy. There is also a
rec room with pool table etc all $1 - $2 a game. The rec room has a great kitchen as well. The amenities are close to most sites, and are kept very
clean. The family/baby/disabled bathroom has a big bath (opposed to a baby sink type one). The staff are friendly and always helpful. Telstra phone/net
range varies around the park from 1-2 bars to 4-5. There is now a brewery/tapas bar across the road and the park has a security gate at the back to cut

roadway between the rows of sites. The site I had was off a bitumen road and easy to back into, the sites off the grass roadway were if the sites
were full would have been awkward to back into. There are about 10 or 12 sites that will handle large motorhomes or 5th wheelers. 16 permanent

Well maintained park. There were some very large, noisy groups over the weekend we were there who socialised until midnight but management did not intervene.
Park has a policy that vans & tents must be moved after 1 week which would be very annoying. However, there are some sites on gravel which management do use for long term visitors.
Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities.
