Belair National Park Caravan Park, Belair
Upper Sturt Road. Signposted from the freeway for access. Ph: 08 8278 3540. Pets allowed on lead.
This is an older park but in a great location. New managers Pat and Graham are very enthusiastic and nothing was too much trouble. Making improvements as budgets allow. Older amenities but kept very clean. Next door to the national park with lots of walks. CP has BBQ areas, pool and lovely bush. Wonderful to see Belair National Park allows visitors to bring in dogs on a lead. (And yes, still lots of birdlife, kangaroos and koalas!) Opposite the entrance is a golf club that serves reasonable lunch and dinner. FPA, cost was $32 before discount for peak October long weekend. Good for a week or more as there is so much to do in district. Good pool, two BBQ areas. Some permanents that make sections of the park look a little tired, but saw no problems while we were there. Good for a week or more.

Highway1 Caravan and Tourist Park, Bolivar
985 Port Wakefield Road, beside Caltex servo on northbound side, very well signposted. Ph: 08 8250 3747. All pets allowed.
Manager's name is Rod. In the last few months the owners of the park have been replacing the grassed tourist site's with pebble and a 3 m wide concrete strip at the front of sites which at first I thought people wouldn't like but after speaking to a few most reckon it's a great idea no mud or dust. July was a very wet month and everyone that I spoke to loved the pebble as the rain drained away. One 5er nearly got bogged pulling out of a grass site. If you are planning on staying here it is a good move to book ahead as the park is full most nights. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for money. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, separate bathroom, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good camp kitchen, dump point, secure entry, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC electric , congenial bbq area atmosphere, seating provided at bbq. Clean pool, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.

Manager's name is Rod. I am here on a long stay and have found the park to be very quite and friendly. There are permanents in the park but in a separate section. It is able to handle large rigs 5th wheelers and large buses without any problems at all, I have seen up to 35' 5er's and 40' buses in the tourist section. There is plenty of room to back large rigs onto the few sites that are not drive though. The park is well maintained 7 days a week with office hours 8 to 8 and staff on call 24 hours. There is no kiosk but there is a 24 hr servo right next door with a take away section. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for money ($144.00 2A per week powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, separate bathroom, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, dump point, secure entry, van parking. Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC electric bbq (pay), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in average condition. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided, toddlers catered for. Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Roads: Roadworks on Port Wakefield Road have now finished and the speed limit has been raised from 60kph to 90 kph so extra care is needed entering and exciting the park. Port Wakefield Road is divided road with turning lanes into the park from both directions.

We have stayed here overnight on a couple of occasions and will continue to do so for longer periods as necessary. Cost of the park is reasonable with the option of a 7th night when paying for 6. Of course there is also the 10% discount for members. This is without doubt one of the cleanest Parks we have visited, with well laid out grassy areas with an excellent amenity block. The well maintained park is close to the beach and the friendly management offers discount coupons for the area. It's a very quiet park but does not offer much shade. Suitable for large vans as sites are quite large. Towing vehicle could be left attached to the van if just staying overnight. The entrance can be a little tight due to it being on a bend in the road. This could cause a problem at peak times when more than one van is waiting to book in.
Likes: Next to beach with small boat launching facilities nearby.
Dislikes: Park entrance a little hazardous.
Park Rating 5: Suitable for extended stays

UPDATED REPORT NEEDED

We highly recommend this park. We came across it on the Internet as one of the few to have prices advertised. I rang just before lunch and was told that a van was available for us that afternoon. The van was spotless, big, with a full size annex with a full size fridge/freezer. The annex was 2 thirds carpeted, with the remainder being vinyl. The van was fully air-conditioned with a roof mounted split system, which was very quiet. Since we struck both hot and cold weather, we utilised the AC. The new owners are very friendly and went out of their way to fix the little things. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, very good value for money ($205 2A per week powered site). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities, van parking. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean free gas bbq in congenial UC bbq area, bbq area lighting, seating provided. No pool. Suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Friendly new owners, location, and facilities.
Dislikes: Little bit of noise early in the morning from earthmoving business next door, but bearable.
Local Information: Very handy to all areas, because of closeness to major arterial road.
Park Rating 4: Suitable for any length stay.

Brighton Caravan Park & Holiday Village, Kingston Park
Burnham Road. Well signposted from Main South Road. Ph: 08 8377 0833. Family Parks member. No pets allowed.
Hidden away from main roads but easy to find once the signage is seen on Brighton Road. Average park, well sited for calm conditions. Not so good during gale conditions that we struck. Very exposed on beachside. The park is old and needs some redesign work to cope with modern RVs. Amenities clean but barely adequate. Management friendly and helpful. Handy to Glenelg and public transport facilities. Suitable for any length of time, but from what we saw of other parks in Adelaide there are probably better options offering better value for money.

Manager Linda and Gavin. We were most impressed by the owners and managers of this park. They were helpful, informative and were aware of their customers needs without being intrusive. We had an ensuite and found the heaters just wonderful particularly in Adelaide's mid winter. Our grandson visited most days while his mum went to work and we told Ruth and Linda that he would probably be staying over on a couple of nights. They told us that was fine and just to let them know at the end of our stay how many nights and fix it all up then. A very pleasant surprise for us grandparents and one of the many reasons we will definitely be returning to this park in the future. Very friendly staff, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, very good value for money ($30 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is bad, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Part of a national park so no pets. Clean free bbq, congenial UC bbq area, bbq area lighting, seating provided. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool is open to sun, kid-safe pool area. A well maintained park.
Likes: The quiet and relaxed feeling of the surroundings. No traffic noise, just birdsong. Pleasant family atmosphere. Lots of wonderful walking trails and just down the road is a very nice pub for great meals. Loved the smell of wood burning fires as we walked back to the park after a meal with friends.
Parking: Strange entry to the park in that you have to enter on the right hand side of the road due to the gate lifter device being on that side. Boomgate is raised during the day and lowered in the evening.
Added Touches: In the off peak season ie winter, a Devonshire tea was served every Friday at 10:15 on the deck outside Reception. Everyone was invited and notices were in all the ablutions blocks and the ensuites. As we left there was to be a get together bbq as well.
Roads: The road is a little narrow and it can be tricky making a right hand turn onto the main road

When we arrived at the park we found it to be very nice and open and very easy to manoeuvre our motor home. The amenities were nice and clean and new. We appreciated how spacious it was and not many people in the park, considering it was school holidays. The managers were new apparently only been there 6 weeks or so. We found out after being told in a very unfriendly manner to "get off our bikes and not to ride in the park." There was some signs around but we just thought this was in certain areas not the whole park. I later went to enquire as to why no riding in such a lovely flat spacious open park and was told by the new manager that he could not change the rules for just one person. As I was merely enquiring why they would have such a limiting rule,(and trying to explain to a 3 year old also no riding) I found his tone very condescending, unfriendly and extremely unpleasant. I was merely wanting to know why this rule was in place as we had never come across it in our travels. The park certainly does not encourage families to come to the park and there is no fun atmosphere as kids are not allowed to ride bikes, scooters, skate boards, roller blades play any ball games. Friendly staff, bad staff response to complaints. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($22 2A 1C per night). Amenities are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, basic rec room, good camp kitchen, dump point. Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade. Clean UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in average condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Likes: The park is very close to a superb beach.
Dislikes: Not encouraging families to visit the park as there is NO games or riding of any sort of bikes/scooters/skateboards/rollerblades in the park.

Stayed in a cabin for 8 nights, 4 before Easter and 4 over Easter, while our son had an operation in Adelaide. The cabin was clean, although starting to show a bit of age. Bed was rather hard but otherwise the cabin was comfortable and had all the requirements for a week's stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. Even to the point of offering a refund if our son was released from hospital earlier than expected (which did not happen). Park was clean and well looked after. It is not a very big park (about 80 sites). White stones on van sites, plenty of shade, sites seemed roomy enough, grassed area for tents and campers. Bus stop close by, not far to city. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Good laundry, basic rec room, kiosk, van parking. Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, a few permanents. Clean bbq. Good playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.

Haven't stayed there because original quote was $350 for three nights in a cabin, this was increased to over $800 when owner realised the Clipsal 500 was on that weekend even though deposit had been made and letter received confirming original quote. Likes: One of the best parks we have stayed at., caters for all people. Great amenities, facilities, kiosk/cafe. Close to beach, Glenelg & city with buses running to both out the front of park.
Dislikes: Overcrowded with bus loads coming in each day. Pool, jumping pillow, playground and rec room overrun by unsupervised groups of kids so ours could not use them. Pool was too small when park was full, jumping pillow & pool unshaded so pillow could not be used when hot which was nearly every day we were there. When making an enquiry about prices for Easter 2010 the male assistant just said "everything goes up doesn't it - that's life". I think a $5 increase per night is prohibiting given that children are $15 per night extra - so a family of 2 adults and 2 children will be paying $74 per night, hardly a cheap holiday anymore. Friendly staff, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, good value for money ($39.00 2A per night, powered, peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, concrete annex slabs to some sites, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point, secure entry. Open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Excellent playground in good condition. Clean heated pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Amenities, playground, rec room. Most things.
Dislikes: As it was Easter we paid $39 per night for 2 adults. On leaving we re-booked for Easter 2010 and were informed it would be $44 per night for 2 adults. An amount of $5 per night rise is very "steep" and could well be too expensive for families with a few kids as they have to pay an extra $15 per person.

Good location and facilities. The management overall are friendly and helpful. The prices are slightly high (we paid $29 a night 2A for an ensuite site for a week) but the facilities and location are first class. Amenities are plentiful and as located as convenient as can be expected in a large park. They were clean, in good condition, the water pressure is great and there is plenty of hot water. There is an adequate number of tourist sites, they are mostly level and the lighting is good. The laundry is good and the recreation room excellent. The recreation facilities kept many children happy for hours at a time. There are two pools (one a wading pool) and they are both heated to 26 degrees. The camp kitchen is huge with everything you would require. There is a kiosk, disabled facilities and secure entry. There are concrete annex slabs for the ensuite sites, many other sites do not have slabs. There are many drive through sites with easy access to most sites. Taps are close but I found sullage points required a long hose. The atmosphere is generally peaceful but this could vary depending on the time of year and the weather. It is quite an open park with not a lot of shade and the beachside ensuite sites are quite open to onshore winds and weather. There are many clean, free, undercover gas barbeques, with seating and lighting, throughout the park. Parking is available close to reception for book in. Plenty of tourist info and tour booking at reception. Road access within and to the park is excellent. 431 sites (38 ensuite, 307 power,86 unpowered).

Stayed 15 nights, powered site $144.20 per week. Reception very helpful and office serves as small kiosk. Dog friendly park, one of the few in Adelaide. This was the first park since we began our trip (16 April) where we were helped to our site by a very competent Russell. All other parks just gave us a map and we had to find the spot ourselves. Our site, No. 7, was a roomy, long slab site near the entry to the park. We had only one neighbour as the other side was a grassed area. Some sites were very tight. Entry is via boomgate and access to the amenities is via a key. This is a fairly small tourist park (permanents are housed in a separate area) and the amenities block is central, close to all sites, and was spotless. Laundry was also very clean with good machines and dryers. This park is extremely well maintained. Motel rooms available. Dump is in the disabled toilet. No pool or playground which meant very few ankle biters (suited us). Sullage to sites provided but we were asked to put our grey water under the trees (very smart). We had previously been told by travellers to book early as this park is always busy. It was full while we were there. Clean undercover bbq/camp kitchen provided. Park is on the Torrens River and an excellent walking path can be accessed through a gate at the back. One caravanner decided to play his music extremely loudly one night (apparently his wife was away) but after a complaint, this was quickly quietened by Russell. We were very happy in this park, would return and would recommend it for any length of time.

Manager's name is Russel and Robyn (3 years). Some sites are tight to back into with a large tug, others are drive though. Can also cater for a limited number of large vans, 5th wheeler's and buses. Russell is very good at directing vans onto sites and is also very capable backer himself. Most sites also have concrete annex slabs. I am here on a long stay basis due to work. There is a permanent section separate from the tourists. I stayed a couple of nights just before Christmas as well as now and found the park to be very friendly, there wasn't a lot of grass at Christmas time but because of the drought that is to be expected, there has been good rain in the last month and Russell has been fertilizing the grass areas so there is plenty of grass which is kept short and tidy. The whole of the park is kept neat and tidy. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for money ($138.00 1A per week powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, kiosk, disabled facilities, secure entry. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC electric bbq (pay), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No pool. Suitable for month or longer, well maintained park.

New owners. Facilities not as clean as they were under previous management. Friendly staff, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were dirty, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, good night lighting, small sites, hard to negotiate into site. Good laundry, kiosk, secure entry. Quiet, claustrophobic park, not enough shade, too many permanents. No bbqs, no playground, no pool. Suitable for few days.
Likes: One of the few parks in Adelaide that permit dogs.
Dislikes: Good quality facilities but this park needs the services of a new cleaner. Lawns not mowed and is untidy.

Manager was friendly when we spoke to him but the website offered grassy sites but none to be seen for us, sites were dusty and dirty and loads of junk, rubbish lying around the park. When first enquired about staying a couple nights there were no sites apparently available, but when we said we may be staying a few weeks they seem to find site. You were packed in like sardines. Hard to manoeuvre big vehicles. Unsafe drains with inadequate covers for small children very dangerous. To many permanents living in below standard accommodation. There was no pool. Amenities were clean but being in a heat wave there was no proper ventilation like fans and they were overwhelmingly stuffy. Recommend only if you needed to stay one night. Friendly management. Poor value for money. Average amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, close to sites, were clean, were in good condition, water pressure was okay, there was adequate hot water. Very poor sites, adequate number of tourist sites, sites were level, the site size was okay, drive-through sites were available, hard to negotiate in to/out of site, poor water quality. Laundry. Very poor atmosphere to park, too many permanents for this park. Basic playground.
