This would be the worst park I seen so far. I think it is not far of being closed as it is so badly run down. I been here for 5
weeks due to lack of sites in other parks nearby as they all full at the moment. There are a few people like us awaiting other sites
in the area here. Mowing is not done very often and they offer you the mower if you complain. The toilets are in such a messy state
they should be condemned, even the permanents have been complaining but nothing is done. Lots of vandalising. Laundry works sometimes;
the permanents say that a lot of people have a lot of trouble getting they deposits back. The water is not drinkable, slightly salty
bore water and lots of bits floating in a glass; I not sure what affect it has on your hot water system and plumbing on a van. We buy
bottled water from the supermarket, it is safer. Most sites with permanents are old and not able to be move as they would fall apart,
lots of tarps holding them together. It a real shame, this park has the potential to be a great park under the right management. The
ski park at the back of park is ok but the mozzies will get you. Not far from Logan Hyper dome.
Unfriendly staff, bad staff response to complaints.
Poor value for money ($95 2A per week powered).

This caravan park should be closed down - it is not fit to stay in. The facilities are dirty, the cabin in which we stayed
at was cold and door handles broken; the toilets were old and unkempt; the pool hasn't been used in months. When I complained

Bramble Bay Caravan Park, Clontarf
37 Thompson Crescent, Clontarf. Ph: 07 3284 6802.
Not easy to find, tucked in a narrow side street but worth finding. Head east along Hornibrook Esplanade and turn left
just before the Bells Caravan Park. Fist impressions of the park are not good with many on-site vans in various conditions. However
the amenities are among the cleanest we have ever seen. They are old but scrupulously maintained Showers are 'water savers' but
have a good strong flow of water. There is a good laundry with the actual washing machines cleaned every day! A clean swimming pool
but no other 'extras'. No pets allowed. The park is well located with bus stops on 50m away with buses regularly to any part of the
Redliffe Peninsula and to Brisbane. There are only a few tourist sites and during our stay only three of them were occupied. The
permanents are friendly. We spent a week there and will have no hesitation in using the park again.

Newmarket Gardens Caravan Park, Newmarket

road bridge opposite the bowling club. Ph: 07 3356 1458. Family Parks member. No pets.
Local Information: Close to main Brisbane CBD and good public transport.
Stayed 3 days, $24.80 per night powered site, plus $20 refundable deposit for security gate (FPA member discount).
This park is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, and is still owned and managed by the original family. They advertised
various prizes of weekly lucky site numbers, and a major prize of $15,000 Asian Cruise Package, but conditions apply. We booked by
telephone and spoke with the very helpful Desilee, who said we would be parked at Site 2, because of the length of our van. When we
arrived, Desilee showed us a map of the large park, pointing out the large amenities block in the middle of the park, plus the little
internet shed which also housed local and other information. A photo-copy of the park layout would have been more helpful, as it
was difficult to retain all the information given. We drove around the park, and did not see any other amenities block and could
not remember if Desilee's map showed 1 or 2 amenities blocks. The cement and tar roads around this park were very narrow but
adequate (some sites would be hard to back into for a larger van), and we drove ourselves to our site. We had problems backing in
and asked one of the employees to please open the additional boom gate so that we could drive through it and reverse into our site.
This was immediately done. We also found very sharp pegs on our site (left by campers) which we could not pull out (ground was
rock hard) and asked him to remove these as they were dangerous. This he also did, with much difficulty. Our site was a fairly even,
grassed/dirt site, no slab and no shade. Other sites in the park had either grass or slab with tiled annex area, and some had shade.
The amenities block was very large, including the laundry, but was a great distance from many sites including ours, (No. 2), which
was near entrance of the park and "the lodge". There were lots of on-site vans and cabins and lots of camping sites around the back
perimeter, and it was clear that this park was geared towards young back-packers, campers and also combi vans (lots of "Wicked" vans).
Amenities were surprisingly very clean, for the great number of people staying, and I did not see any queues for the showers or
toilets. I did not use the laundry because it was so far from our site. Large camp kitchen. No dump point, we were told to "put
it down the toilet". Night lighting was reasonable. On the whole, we found this park to be very good except for the distance to the
amenities. Another disappointment was that the young travellers in this park were not friendly. They did not respond to a friendly
"hello, wonderful day" and if they did reply you were lucky to get a grunt. Have not found this attitude in other parks, just this
one. Not the park's fault, of course. This park is situated within walking distance to a big shopping centre, and lots of restaurants
and coffee houses, and is close to main city Brisbane. Suitable for any length of time.

office. Was disappointing as park is in a great location and from the street looks pretty good.

This is virtually a brand new park. All that remains of the old park is part of the boundary fence. A lot of thought has been
involved in the design of the park. Most tourist sites are drive through and are angled so that when you sit under your awning
you are not looking at the next door caravan.
A lot of the sites are long enough to take the longest 5th wheeler or motorhome and leave room to spare. Two wide concrete strips
run the length of each site with extra concrete 'triangles' at each end where, often, van wheels will 'cut the corners'. In
between the concrete strips is all lawn. In addition to the taps for hoses there are extra taps with drains to wash out those
coffee pots etc.
The amenities are the most modern we have seen with shower cubicles big enough to hold a party in. Water flow is from full size
heads and is hot and strong. There is a small laundry with brand new washers and dryers plus disabled cubicles. The dump point
is raised, so that emptying your cassette is not so hard on your back, and surrounded by concrete so that you are not standing
in mud as you empty.
A brand new barbecue area overlooks Deception Bay.
There are no children's playground, playroom, swimming pool, internet facilities or camp-kitchen and no ironing board in the
laundry but there are excellent walking tracks along by the beaches in both directions plus, within 100m of the park there are
bus stops where you can catch buses to all parts of the peninsula plus three different routes to Brisbane.
There are garden beds around the perimeter but, in the body of the park, no trees, shrubs or gardens. It is a very basic park
but what there is, is of a very high quality.
Suitable for a few nights or longer.

This park is a "work in progress" at the moment. It is undergoing a complete rebuild and it cannot really be rated.
Signs are promising and if plans come about it should be an excellent base for visits to South East Qld.

Adder Rock Caravan and Camping Ground, Stradbroke Island
Once off the barge from Redland Bay, turn left off the car ferry, travel about 18km, take the road from Dunwich to Point Lookout.
The park is on the left just about as the first civilisation is sighted at Point Lookout. It is opposite the historic cattle dip.
It is quite well sign-posted. Ph: 07 3409 9555 or 1300 551 253. No pets. Managed by Redlands City Council.
Good basic facilities but it is the location which makes the place special. Park has about 25 powered sites & about a hundred
non-powered sites.
Friendly staff, average staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained
park layout and facilities.
Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($39 2A C1 per night unpowered).
Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good,
there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities.
Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, adequate taps close by.
Basic laundry, no rec room, secure entry.
Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere.
Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq.
Good playground in average condition.
No pool.
Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Likes: Open park with plenty of space & right on the fabulous north-facing Flinders Beach. The beach has a lifeguard on
duty through the busy holiday periods. The kids will like the local wildlife with possums & goannas active throughout the park -
just watch out if you leave any unsecured food out though. This park has two amenities blocks, both are in a reasonable & generally
clean condition, although they can be a bit of a hike depending on where you are. They now have a good undercover BBQ area with
seating. The park provides all the basics.
Dislikes: Can be very crowded & a little noisy at times, especially the holiday period but to be honest where can you find a
beachside park that isn't that way during the holidays nowadays?
Local Information: Beautiful beaches, Great fishing, Whale watching, walking & a couple of kms up the road to Point Lookout
township & the recently re-built Point Lookout Hotel. The Bowls Club is a couple of hundred metres up the road & is a good spot
for a reasonably priced meal & a cool beer.

Cylinder Beach Caravan and Camping Ground, Stradbroke Island
Mooloomba Road, Point Lookout. Ph: 07 3409 9555.
UPDATED REPORT NEEDED
Location is just excellent. The park has only 7 powered sites.
At time of reporting a new amenities block was nearing completion. The park really is very basic and as its name implies,
it is a beach-front camping ground with some powered sites. However the beach is great, the walks interesting, and when the
whale season is on, it is just a lot of fun. Need to book well ahead if visiting during holiday/peak periods.
