UPDATED REPORT NEEDED

I stayed overnight at the park. The toilet block is unclean and very rough. It is freezing in winter. It is a small park by a creek with a footbridge to the local town. The manager lives on the lot in a van. There are mostly permanents and the standard is rather poor. Poor management, poor value for money. Very poor amenities, water pressure was okay, there was adequate hot water. Poor sites, sites were level, annexe slabs were available, adequate sullage close by. Poor atmosphere to park, too many permanents for this park. Dogs allowed.
Likes: It is in a quiet location.
Dislikes: There are basically no facilities: no BBQ, no play ground and no pool. The pool is closed and does not belong to the park. There was no play ground in the park.
Park Rating 2: Suitable for overnighter.

Albury All Seasons Tourist Park, Albury
481 Wagga Road (Hume Highway), Lavington, 6km North of Albury Post Office. Ph: 02 6025 1619. Family Parks member. Dogs on leash during off peak periods only.
Manager's name is Darren & Jenny Butlin. Unfriendly staff, bad staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($25 2A per night). Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, concrete annex slabs, drive-through sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities. Peaceful, claustrophobic park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Suitable for overnighter, well maintained park.
Dislikes: The park had the smallest powered sites we have ever encountered in any caravan park. The site we were allocated was suitable for a Mini Minor towing a box trailor. The manager was very rude when I told him that there was not a chance in hell that I could fit into the site. The manager told me that I was free to leave his park. Great attitude.

Report submitted by Bev & Geoff, Wattle Grove NSW.

Suggest you ring the park in advance and they will give you excellent timesaving directions, plus the park fills up quickly. Good management, friendly management, management responsive to comments, management was helpful. Reasonable value for money, $25 2A per night. Average amenities, were clean, were in good condition, water pressure was okay, there was adequate hot water. Average sites, sites were level, lighting at night was adequate, drive-through sites were available, hard to negotiate in to/out of site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Park atmosphere was okay. Suitable for a few days, the park was well maintained.
Likes: You could purchase wireless internet cards.
Dislikes: Drive through sites left you very close to your neighbours. When one of our neighbours insisted on putting out his awning, it overlapped our car and we had to walk under it to get to the ablution block. As the park fills up, it can be difficult to negotiate your departure.
Local Information: Day drive to Bright, particularly in Autumn is very rewarding.

Report submitted by P & E, Aberfoyle Park.

Only a few sites here and some of them are quite small. We could only just fit in our 16' van and had to park on the roadway. Excellent location, near a major shopping centre. The highway now bypasses Albury so there is very little road noise. A very tidy little park.

Report submitted by Peter & Jean Reynella SA.

Stayed 3 days, $27.70 member discount per night powered. This small tourist park is run by four family owners. We were greeted by Jenny who told us three sites were available, to pick one and let her know the number. We selected Site No. 1. Jenny gave us a map of the park, city, and information on places of interest in Albury/Wodonga and surrounds and answered all our questions. She also pointed out the closest shopping centre, restaurants, etc, which were all about 300 metres away from the resort. This is a small tourist park, comprising mainly cabins, and with only 12 caravan sites. The first night we stayed all caravan sites were taken. Although the trees were suffering from the drought, the park was neat and tidy. The amenities block was spotless with showers having their own drainage, and glass shower screens so that dry areas remained dry. There was even a bunch of floor mats available for patrons, with a sign saying to please put the dirty towels in the basket. Piped music made the whole showering experience very pleasant. Water pressure was good. The swimming pool near the large guest room was spotless. The guest room had lounge chairs, tables and chairs, a kitchen with kitchen equipment, and was very clean. There was also a spotless covered camp kitchen near the pool, with bbq and 2 electric hotplates. We found the hotplates a bit slow so used the gas hotplates in the guest room. This room was not air-conditioned and only had fans, so was very hot. The spotless laundry was small with 2 washing machines and 1 dryer. We enjoyed our stay in this park: it was spotless, reception was very friendly and helpful, and it was central to everything. What more could we want? The weekend we stayed saw the opening of the by-pass, and this would take away the highway noise in the night. Another definite plus. We would definitely return.

Short walk of less than 1 km to the main street. If we had of had our tent with us we would have stayed a lot longer than just two nights.

FPA park with Murray River frontage, a 20 minute walk into town. Some annual vans, but the park is very neat and tidy. Modern, clean and well maintained amenities. BBQ undercover, swimming pool and excellent camp kitchen. Water supply is unfiltered from the river, so no good for drinking or washing clothes. There is a tank beside the amenities that has filtered river water/rain water for drinking water, but it doesn't taste good so we bought bottled water. Cost was $22 for a powered site for 2A. Manager's name is Gay and Clinton. We were only going to stay for a week but finished staying for 2. A very tidy park with lots a green grass and plenty of river water on tap for caravaners how aren't allowed to water their lawns at home. It looks like there is around a 100 p/w sites and unknown quantity of u/p sites so we are not sure how the amenities would go if the park was fully "loaded". Lots of concrete annexe sites however they "stick-up" above the ground so you have to be really accurate when parking the van. The park put on a free BBQ on cup day which was well catered for and attended. Lots of bird life walking around. Went to use the BBQ one wasn't working (we were informed that the current gas BBQ's are going to be replaced) The only down point was that the "camp kitchen" was badly in need of a good clean (fridge deep freeze etc). Would recommend the park for any length of stay.

$20 per night. It has riverside sites with great views along the river. Sites are generally large, some with concrete slabs. The toilet block is very clean and modern with good sized cubicles. The office has a small kiosk. There is parking for two cars and caravans at entrance. Plenty of trees for shade and well grassed sites. The park has room for large vehicles. Pool. The park is family-run and has a very pleasant atmosphere. We were recommended to this park and in turn, have recommended it to our friends.

Manager's name is Gay and Clinton. We spent a week here and would have been happy to have stayed longer. This park had a lot of character and a lovely friendly atmosphere. The park is on the north bank of the Murray River in Buronga and looks directly across the river to the Grand Hotel in Mildura. Many sites look out over the river and the view is great - watching the paddle steamers slowly go by. There is heaps of wild life, ducks, swans geese and possums that can all be hand fed. The sites are all good with reasonable room. Most sites have slabs. It is all nicely lawned and treed. Lighting is good with little touches of fairy lights in the trees. The amenities would have to be the best we have come across - they are very clean and modern. Even hair driers are supplied. They are dog friendly. Kids would love the park because of the wild life and it also has an area with chooks (reception sells the eggs), goats and a couple of friendly horses. The pool is centrally located to everyone and is a good size and clean. Being right on the river it is good for walks along the river banks. We were there in early spring, so days were lovely but nights were cool, however, as a nice touch, the owner will give you a brassier and wood at no charge so you can sit round it at night with a glass of wine and watch the lights of the town and paddle steamers. The owners Gay and Clinton are very friendly and most helpful. There are a few permanents there but as the park is quite big it is not noticeable. This was the cheapest park we stayed at in our travels. We plan to come back here in the Autumn. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, great value for money ($19.50 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs to most sites, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), good camp kitchen, kiosk, car wash, dump point, van parking. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Dogs on leash. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.

Manager's name is Gay and Clint. What a great caravan park! The best value for money we have found. Do not judge it from the road; go in and look. We changed our original plans to stay about 4 nights and then look for a free camp in the area because of the great feeling and good value we stayed for the week. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, very good value for money ($134 2A per week, powered, with Family Parks discount). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs to some sites, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Dirty UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere. Clean pool is open to the sun, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for month or longer, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: Almost everything. The way even the closest sites to the river were well set back so that river front area was for all the park tenants
Dislikes: Only one thing; the European campervanners who took over the camp kitchen which included the bbq, and the bbq was always dirty even after I saw staff clean it earlier in the day.
Parking: In front of office
Added Touches: The free movies on the river bank 3 nights per week weather permitting

Although it is on the NSW side of the Murray this park is the closest park to the Mildura CBD (15 minute walk) and should be regarded as part of the town. We are pleased we didn't find this park until the end of an extended trip as we may not have made it much further! It is one of the best parks we struck on this trip and up with the best we have come across anywhere in all our travels. Everything about it works: location, atmosphere, extras and attitude of management makes it a very pleasant experience and we would definitely stay again (and probably for an extended period). Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, very good value for money ($20 2A per night powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, concrete annex slabs, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, dump point. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Suitable for month or longer, well maintained park.

Self booking process was very easy to follow. You only need to fill out your paperwork, grab a map, which contains your pin code for the boom gate, and find a suitable site for yourself. The following morning we went back up to the main office to pay for and finalise our booking. The park has approx 6 amenity blocks and the one which we utilised was close to our site, very clean and in very good condition, the water pressure was good and the shower cubicles are large enough so everything doesn't get wet. There is an additional charge for the Shower of 20c which gives you approx 6 mins of lovely hot water. The park contains a lot of permanently located vans but well separated from the tourist sites. There aren't a great deal of powered tourist sites remaining (I counted approx 15 sites) so I would recommend booking in advance. The atmosphere of the park is very relaxing, both my daughters spent quite some time feeding the Kangaroos, Parrots, Rosellas, Cockatoos, Galahs and whatever else decided to venture past our annex for a free feed. The Park staff where never short of giving you a smile and a wave as they ventured past but at no time did you ever feel that they were intruding. No pets allowed. The electric bbq cost $1.00, but there are free wood bbqs that were also well located throughout the park. Most of the electric BBQ's were sheltered and lit. No pool. A large playground. Very limited TV reception and poor Mobile phone coverage.

Ball Park Caravan Park, Corowa
Manager's name is Dianne. Ph: 02 6033 1426. The park is at the end of the main street on the (Bridge road) Murray River. Turn down under the bridge to find the park. This park does not seem to have a lot of tourist sites; they seem to be mainly permanent holiday vans. There are a couple of tourist sites on the riverside and to me these seem to be the best sites. These are intermingled with on site permanent vans. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice. Price was lower than expected ($18 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites. Basic laundry, kiosk, plenty of shade, too many permanents. No bbqs, no pool. Suitable for few days.
Likes: Park is in walking distance to town and can be used as a base to explore the region.
Dislikes: There are too many permanent on-site holiday vans.
Local Information: Bowls club just over the fence has the usual Friday night raffles and $9.50 meals.

Likes: Cabins were brilliant for the price, very clean, all facilities and utensils, full size fridge, microwave, cooker. Papers/bread/milk delivered to your cabin if requested the night before. Kiosk had Aeroguard which we forgot! Also has ice and basic food stuffs. Free BBQs throughout the park, right on the Murray, has a boat ramp as well, on the main road but you wouldn't know it all you can hear is the birds and the cicadas. Cabins are very well maintained and a pleasure to stay in.

A lovely, well-presented park. This park is probably best suited to older couples rather than families. There is also a motel complex but no cabins. It gets very busy when Mildura has events such as the Country Music Festival. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice. Price was as expected, good value for money. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, small sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry has two washing machines and about 6 driers which are free, no rec room, secure entry. Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Attached to the Country Club with lawn bowls and golf. The club has lovely friendly staff and good meals. Drive through sites. Well presented. En-suites were clean and roomy.
Dislikes: There was no room to use the caravan awning (but didn't really need it as there was plenty of shade). Because of the drought, most grass had long since disappeared from sites so it was rather dusty. I think they would be better off using pebbles.
Parking: There is a large paved area near the office so there is plenty of parking.
Added Touches: There are special package deals for keen golfers.
Local Information: Dareton is only about 25 km from Mildura. There are wineries to visit, paddleboats on the Murray. It is only a short drive to Wentworth at the junction of the Murray / Darling. There is an excellent aboriginal run tour to Lake Mungo.

McLean Beach Caravan Park, Deniliquin
Coming from north, cross bridge, veer right, continue to McDonalds on left, then cross intersection to end, turn right into Butler Street, 100 metres to park. Ph: 03 5881 2448.
This caravan park is opposite and along side McLean Beach on the Edward River within walking distance of the town. This is a large park with a number of amenities – some much better than others. Cost $23 per night for 2A. There are a lot of annual vans, so tourists only make up a small part. It is neat and tidy and the grounds well kept. But it just didn't work for us and next time we'll try another park in town.

UPDATED REPORT NEEDED

Managers' names are Arthur and Nella. An excellent little park with some nice added touches, including piped music in the amenities block. This town is a must for keen photographers as the lake which borders the park has wildlife and views to fill several reels of film. It's a typical small country town where you can go for evening strolls and unwind after a day's travel. Would be great for kids - especially during warmer months. Next doorto town swimming pool The lake is certainly what sets this town apart from just another small country town along a major highway. We set alarms for pre-dawn photo shoots over the lake and it was well worth the early start to the day.

We loved this park; but much of our delight may stem from the fact that we got one of the three or four riverside sites. It pays to ask for one, or to book one in advance. There are other attractive sites on concrete slabs or on grass which are appealing too. There is no doubt the proximity of the river is a main drawcard - the lawns down to the river are a pleasant place to sit in the evening. And the amenities block was very clean and fresh. Very friendly staff. Price was lower than expected, very good value for money ($24 A2 per night, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs to some sites, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Likes: The closeness to the river, and the amenities block being so clean and fresh.

Stayed 4 days, $23.50p/n en-suite site. Reception very helpful. River sites are more expensive than normal powered sites. We had originally asked for a river site which we got ($22.50 p/n), and soon discovered our mistake. Unwittingly we had landed in the middle of Victorian school holidays and there were "millions" of kids running around the riverbank, between very tight sites, not to mention the constant noise of the ski boats. We asked reception if we could move and they were happy for us to do so. There were plenty of level, grassed and shaded sites towards the entrance of the park, closer to the swimming pool, but we settled on en-suite, site 29. En-suite facilities were reasonably clean as was the amenities block, which was unusual in that shower facilities were designed like en-suites within the ablution building, which also housed separate toilets. The camp kitchen was large, and catered well to the many families camped with children. Laundry was clean and water pressure good. Ensuite sites are very tight and hard to manoeuvre with a big van with some facing the awning while others were back to front. Our neighbouring van was 2 inches from our awning and I could hear our neighbour snoring. Felt like I was sleeping between two fellas!!. On the whole this is a very nice park, with very helpful owners. We would return again but would park closer to the entrance on grass and under trees, even though it is a little distance from the amenities block.

Cordial reception, layout of park explained including caution re narrow roads. Small park with about 60 sites including 20 drive-through, some of then with cabins, others ensuite. All sites had power, water and sullage and most had annexe pads, but were rather small and narrow roads made access a little difficult, especially with a larger van. There was no shade. Roads were sealed, kerbed and guttered, the sites themselves very bare and a little rough, the absence of grass explained by the severe drought and Level 5 water restrictions in the city. Amenities were spotless, although urinals in men's toilets had water turned off. Good hot water, soap and hand dryers provided. Would be adequate for visitor numbers. Showers were well designed to avoid wet floors in dressing area, with no curtains but with mop provided. A handicapped person's bathroom was available on request. Facilities include well equipped camp kitchen, several BBQs (free), games room with video machines children's playground, Internet access and toilet dump point, but no pool. No dogs permitted, other pets allowed by arrangement. Public phone at reception, good mobile phone reception. Television reception was mixed - excellent for some channels including ABC and SBS, poor on others; antennas require vertical polarity. Some basic food items at reception, service station and MacDonald's complex next door. A special feature of the park is a marvellous outdoor model railway, as the owners are obviously model railway fanatics! $26 for 2A before discount average value.

Stayed 3 days, $18.70p/n powered site. 2 kms east of Griffith on the Leeton Road. At first glance from the road, this park looks tired and most uninviting. It looks as if the owners have lost interest in the park. But the other park was fully booked (even though it looked empty when we drove in) so we decided to stay here. And we were not disappointed. We had planned to stay for 2 days and extended to 3 days. Diana at reception was filling in for the owners who were on holiday, and did a great job. She was very helpful and friendly and took us through the park on foot and suggested the best site for our long van. She asked if we wanted to inspect the ablutions block, but we thought we would take a chance without inspection. The site she chose was large, had shade, a long slab, was grassed and proved excellent. Cathy, the cleaner, was very proud of her ablution block and could rattle off what disinfectant or cleaner did the best job for what. And the ablution block, entered via a code, though 30 years old, had been updated and was spotless (we would "rate" it 5). There was a swimming pool near the gate, and entry to the park was via security. On site cabins were available. The park, even though it looks tired and needs garden maintenance and the planting of some more trees, was very quiet and a great place to stay. There is lots to see in Griffith, Leeton and surrounding areas. We would definitely stay in this park again, but wish the owners would spruce it up a little.

Adequate number of tourist sites, all level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, dump point, van parking. Noisy, open and roomy, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere, no permanents. Suitable for a few days, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Fresh bath mats and hand towels in the amenities are put out every day. The new owners are working very hard to restore grass to all sites which had obviously been left to deteriorate.
Dislikes: Two of the showers in the gents don't have a drying area. The swimming pool whilst we were here was not clean. Although the park itself is quiet it is right on the Sturt Highway which is the main highway between Sydney and Adelaide and with the number of semi's and b-doubles can make the park quite noisy.
Parking: Outside reception

Res owners Ron & Viviann McFadzien. Friendly, helpful people and nothing is a trouble. They seem to genuinely enjoy having people at their park! $22 per night (2A powered) as expected and good value for money. Smallish park with majority of sites for vans and tents. Only a few cabins and even fewer long-term vans. Long drive-through sites, level and grassed. Power and town water close. Good night lighting. Amenities sufficient in number; older style building but cubicles and shower curtains generous, everything well maintained and very clean. Situated at one end of park, so a bit of a walk for some. Strong hot water. Satisfactory laundry. Washing up sinks. Small pool. Kiosk. Nice touches such as flowers beside the basins and freshly washed, individual use bathmats provided. Obvious careful attention to gardens. Easy cycle or good walk into town. Trails in State Forest beside the Murrumbidgee very close. Trucks passing on the highway can certainly be heard but we found it a comforting rumble and were not unduly disturbed. Suitable for a stay of several days, or more, if you had some particular purpose for remaining longer in Hay.

Manager's name is Lorraine & Terry Pearcey. This park has cabins, some ensuite powered sites (4 at present), normal powered sites, and grassed camping sites. It is neat and tidy, with sufficient shade and grass, and generally level sites. Some sites are drive-through, and some (more to come) have concrete pads for the annex. All sites appeared to be of a good size. The ensuite sites have shelters over the van. Be aware that water taps for connection to 'vans are not suitable for drinking, but drinking water is available from separate taps. I did not get the chance to check out the ensuite units, but the main amenities block was clean and well presented. The shower cubicles are a little small, but a curtain helps control spray. The amenities are also close to most sites, as the park is not large. Powered site cost $24 2A, before BIG4 member discount, lower than expected and good value. The camp kitchen / BBQ area was good and there is also a TV / games room. Aim TV aerials at 50 degrees magnetic, on horizontal polarisation. No hesitation in staying again. Friendly staff, no complaints, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Right in town centre on the lake. Ph: 02 6456 2249. Family Parks member. Dogs on leash.
Park is well signposted, 500m from town centre, right on Lake Jindabyne. Sites are terraced, with most having lovely views over the lake. There are many holiday permanents vans, but most towards the back of the park. The older amenities block has toilets only, the new block is well laid out, with toilets completely separate from showers, there is disabled facilities and a family room, complete with bath. The laundry is modern and all is spotless. There is a playing area, no pool, but of course, there is the lake. The camp kitchen is small, but well stocked with appliances and there is also an enclosed BBQ area with bench seating. The staff were very friendly and went to great lengths to help us with our problems when the electrical system in our van failed. Jindabyne is a good base to explore the snowy mountains area. A walk to the top of Mt Kosciuszko is highly recommended for those with a medium level of fitness. Catch the chairlift from Thredbo to the top and it is then a 6.5km walk up.
Local Information: $16. 00 entrance fee to national park - pensioner concessions for NSW residents only. A day pass is available to travel through, but no stopping - only hurts the shopkeepers, the views are still the same. Lunch at Adaminaby, Berriedale or go early and eat back at Jindabyne.

Park has more cabins and annuals than powered sites. Powered sites are situated down near the lake. They are average in size and are all concrete which makes it great for when it rains i.e. no mud. As the whole area is concrete, they have supplied stainless steel hooks in the concrete to help hold your annex or awning. Amenities are clean and modern with the showers quite large. There is a camp kitchen (fee for stoves), TV room, games room, another room with fireplace. There is also a sauna and spa for use (fee), as well as a drying room (fee) and ski repair room. We travelled from the north on the Olympic Highway, following directions in the Top Tourist book - make sure to take the correct right turn past the railway bridge (Regent Street), and not turn too early! If coming from Wagga, veer left in the town center onto Broadway.
An absolute gem of a park, which has just been awarded "Best NSW Inland Park". Friendly, helpful, pleasant but unobtrusive management who have every reason to be proud of their establishment. We are going back to use this park as a base to explore the region. There is so much to see that you could spend an easy week at Junee. This has got to be the best small caravan park in NSW it is outstanding in presentation and available facilities, This park is a tourist park only it has park cabins and lots of drive through sites. The owners have achieved a level of park facility that we have not seen in 45 years of caravanning. The amenities block is spotless, bath mats are provided for each user, and they are laundered after each use, hand wash soap and paper towels are also provided. The laundry was also a great setup with drying lines adjacent. The camp kitchen has a fully enclosed BBQ area with BBQ tools, spotless of course, there is also a real kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge, crockery, cutlery, table and chairs, even a table cloth. The BBQ area is near the fully enclosed swimming pool. The grounds are immaculate, even the lawn edges are done. Each site has its two disposal bins, rubbish and recycle, water and power, and some good shady trees. Security is via a key system to operate the boom gates. The town of Junee has many excellent tourist attractions worth a visit, being a one time railway town the history has been faithfully restored. the Caravan park operators will gladly direct all visitors to the attractions. At $22 per night for two it is a great place to stay at,

Likes: We loved this park. It is currently undergoing improvements in facilities, it has any type of accommodation you need from unpowered sites to deluxe spa cabins, or authentic fishing cabins. It is family owned and run, and is a "work in progress" with many planned additions to the park, coming in the near future. Even if you aren't into trout fishing, and just want to enjoy the beautiful and stunning countryside, including flora & fauna bush walks, this is the place to go. Adjoining the famous Kosciuszko National Park Khancoban is the home of Australia's High Country adventures.
Dislikes: It would have been good to have had the choice of a cement or gravel slab when the weather is wet, but I believe there are plans for this in the near future.
Added Touches: Boat ramp, fish cleaning, Rec room with large log fire and TV. One way chain hire - drop off at Jindabyne, one way ski hire by prior arrangement. Kids club. Seniors and weekly discounts. Great off season specials. Free fish freezer. Boat and raft hire. Guided fishing, canoeing and adventure tours. Weigh-in facilities.
Local Information: Do a free tour of the Snowy Hydro Murray 1 plant and information centre, well worth a visit and free use of the picnic garden. Enjoy happy hour at the Alpine Inn, a perfect spot to sip an ice cold beer under the grapevines.
Roads: This is beautifully breathtaking scenery as you enter Khancoban from either Melbourne or Sydney. Road conditions were fine, but check with Tony at the park if any of the roads have been closed due to inclement weather or snowy conditions.

Lockhart Caravan Park, Lockhart
162 Green Street. Coming south go through the shops and turn right. Ph: 02 6920 5119.
Manager's name is Rachel. This is a very pleasant little park with minimum facilities. The amenities were clean and adequate and there is a laundry. No barbecue on site but there is one across the weir in the park. There was nobody there when we arrived but a notice advised us to phone the caretaker Rachel. No mobile signal so we had to go to her house to get the amenities key and pay her. Her home was within walking distance and the fee was $14.70 2A. This is a council park and the fees will be going up to $20 at the start of July. This price will make stays not such good value for money. Good overnighter as you could leave your van hitched up and it's only a short walk to town. Lockhart is known as the 'Verandah Town' and it's very picturesque. Locals are very friendly. At $14.70 you would spend a few days here exploring the local area but after July you would be better advised to go to a larger town where the facilities are better for a similar price.

Located beside a creek, with plenty of Pepperina trees to provide shade, this is one of those little gems of parks that one finds in small towns off the beaten track. Kept immaculate with old but clean amenities. There is nothing to keep one in Lockhart for any length of time but they sure make for a welcome R & R stop in a long trip. This park is suitable for a 1 or 2 day stop and is excellent value for money at $14.75 per night 2A powered site.

Mittagong Caravan Park, Mittagong
1 Old Hume Highway. Park is on west side of the old Hume Highway, on the northern edge of town. Not well signposted, heading south you are almost at the park before the first blue caravan sign is seen. Relatively easy to find: from Sydney, take the first Mittagong turnoff and it's about 4kms on the right, just past the Sports Ground. From Goulbourn take the first Mittagong turnoff, drive through the town centre and it's about 1km on the left. Ph: 02 4871 1574. Pets at manager's discretion.
This is a lovely well maintained caravan park. There are cables for TV to each site for a deposit. Average staff friendliness. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($25 A1 per night, powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, soap provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Suitable for a week or more.
Likes: The park is well maintained and nice.
Parking: Not much.
Local Information: Only stayed the night.
Roads: Fine, a good freeway.

If your ideal park is nice straight roadways flanked by neat sites of a uniform shape and size then this park is not for you. The main roadway through the park meanders to and fro and each site is a different size and shape. To us this adds to the charm of the park, which is attractive and well maintained. We have stayed there on three separate occasions, on three different sites and have never had a problem getting our 25ft Heritage on site. As stated the garden beds, shrubs and trees are well maintained and the amenity blocks, whilst fairly old, are very clean and the owner/operators can be seen around the park at all times of the day and evening checking them. There is a modern camp-kitchen and also free barbecues. Free loan of a coaxial cable gives you 14 channels of TV reception including 7 pay-TV channels. The office doubles as a take-away food shop and mini-mart as well as having all the usual tourist information. Owners are friendly and helpful. It is an ideal place to stay and check out the Southern Highlands. One negative for me: the floor of the shower cubicles, both in the shower and the dressing area, is covered by blue foam matting. The probable idea is to stop slipping but I have doubts about the hygiene of such a thing. Suitable for overnight or a few days.

Manager's name is Funnel Family. A very friendly family owned and run park. Staff is very helpful and willing to assist if required. Showers are very spacious. It has a good atmosphere. Mittagong station is 10 minutes walk enabling you to catch city rail to Sydney and other places. There was a Seniors discount. Prices are not subjected to seasonal and holiday fluctuation. We were very happy during our stay. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, very good value for money ($130 2A per week powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point, secure entry, van parking. Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in average condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: We liked the friendly atmosphere and care that was afforded to us.
Dislikes: The signposting to the caravan park. No sign on male toilets to show if toilet was vacant or not. You had to actually push the door and hope for the best.

This park is rather cramped, and the roads themselves are narrow in places. Quite a few small cabins and onsite vans intermixed with tourist sites without adequate parking being allocated to them. Hence parking on roads can be a problem when manoeuvring larger caravans. Not all powered sites have sullage - appeared to be about 50/50. The main Sydney-Melbourne railway is a couple of hundred metres away and can be heard at night but we didn't really find this a problem. Good management, friendly management. Good value for money. Average amenities, adequate number to cater for tourists, close to sites, water pressure was okay. Average sites, sites were level, lighting at night was adequate, hard to negotiate in to/out of site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Laundry, good camp kitchen, kiosk. Park atmosphere was okay, shady park. Clean free UC bbq. The park was well maintained.
Likes: It had a relaxed atmosphere and apart from the railway was quiet. Three amenities blocks (only one with showers) meant that all vans were close to toilets. Plenty of greenery.
Dislikes: Cabins without car parking space, difficult manoeuvring for larger vans.
Parking: Arrival parking not well signposted. There are two entrances, one from the highway and one from the side street. If you enter from the highway you need to turn right almost immediately (although that is not obvious), and should find space to park there. The office is located at the front, opening onto the highway. If you enter from the side street, there is a sign requiring a right turn and that takes you down to near the office where parking would be adequate if not plentiful.
Roads: good from both North and South.

Watch for one large speed bump. The site was relatively easy to back into as the streets are wide enough to negotiate a large rig. The area was grassed and because of water restrictions we were encouraged to drop grey water onto the garden. The park has quite a large play area near the river with its own rivers and beach. Great place to exercise the dog, but remember to bring a plastic shopping bag for the little accidents. Our poodle loved this place. There is a reasonable store there and fuel can be purchased on site. Friendly staff, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, good value for money ($27 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided. Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Dogs on leash. Excellent playground in good condition, kid-safe pool area. Park is considered kid-safe.

There are about a dozen elevated, river view sites, with beautiful river gums along the bank. There are a few other tourist sites dotted amongst the multitude of permanents, holiday permanents and cabins. The park is well maintained, very neat and tidy and the amenities are large and clean. It was raining the whole time we were there, so didn't walk around, but the pool area looked very nice and there was at least one playground. The park is just across the bridge from Echuca, not walkable, but quite convenient. In our opinion, management (Aspen Parks) are not at all interested in caravanners in this park, having, it appears put in yet more cabins where tourist sites used to be, although reception were certainly very friendly. The price of $35.00 per night 2A is just silly for this time of year. We decided at that price we would move away from the area and find somewhere cheaper to sit out the rain. So, while it is lovely looking at the river, right opposite these sites are cabins and permanents, the others are in the overcrowded areas and would not be at all congenial for a long stay.
Date 06/2009. Park Rating 3: Wouldn't stay again, because we don't like parks overcrowded with permanents when we are travelling.

A typical country caravan park - bit rough around the edges. Sealed roads, no gutters (which can be a good thing), lots of shade trees and at this time of year, lots of leaves. The sites are a bit rough and uneven and the strange thing is the vans park on the concrete, leaving dirt for the awning. The tourist sites are mixed in with very tired on-site vans and cabins, which, it seems, are permanently let. Most sites could be drive through, if no one in front. The amenities are old, but clean, with soap dispensers and a drying area in the showers. Taps and sullage are inconvenient to most sites, power OK. There is a small camp kitchen, which was well lit. A good place to be based in the Southern Highlands, with the Bradman Museum just down the road and Bowral and there is a terrific tourist drive to Fitzroy and other falls.

The tennis court now has no fence and the pool was too dirty to use, although could be good when cleaned out. The 'driving range' is a paddock with long grass. The takeaways shop is only place you can get a meal, when i was there I was unable to get a meal, as "she didn't want to cook as she had been to town". In the end I found something to eat in my caravan, wasn't too impressed as there isn't much else in this town. A few things to see. Not too much noise from highway or pub. This is a very basic park in the centre of Rankin Springs, not much there but was a nice park. Quite small, grass sites. Manager is in a van there, came, and took me to my site and explained where everything was. I was the only van there. I wanted a meal for the night, thankfully I had something in my van. I was told to go to the takeaway shop, which I did, but when I asked her what time she closed, she asked me why and I said I wanted something for dinner. I was informed that she had been to town that day and did not feel like cooking. There went me having any dinner. The pub was a very short walk away but they relied on takeaway shop for meals. Manager's name is Karlene & Noel Huggins. Tocumwal, or Toc to the locals, is a great place to stop over - Tourist info has Aerodrome display. Tocumwal had the largest air training facility in Australia for WW2, training RAAF and US pilots with a big WAAF team as well - Liberator Bombers were based here and the airfield and huge hangers still exist and can be seen just out of town. Main street and shops look in great heritage restored style - good meals for all budgets, shade clothed picnic areas on Murray River. Check out railway station and Terminus Hotel. Town has a BIG Murray Cod. Our stay was on Victorian long weekend so prices may have been higher - discount for Top Tourist membership would bring price down a bit. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($30 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, dump point, secure entry, van parking. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Shady drive through sites, ensuites available, very large vans can be easily accommodated. Really good atmosphere and many travellers swapped stories.
Parking: Be courteous and don't block the security key pad boom gate entrance - adequate park space just inside the entrance.
Roads: Roads from Albury, Finley and Barooga all in good condition - standard B and C class roads (Victorian road designations).

Manager Tony & Debbie Tinker. Neat quiet park, we had ensuite powered site located at rear of park, which was very quiet. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, good value for money ($28 2A per night powered), water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. No pets allowed. A well maintained park.
Likes: Close to shops and services.
Parking: Wide entrance off quiet street.

Tocumwal Caravan Park, Tocumwal
Corner Bruton Street and Finley Road. Located in the middle of town, north of the post office. Turn right at roundabout just over bridge, then left at pub corner second street on right. Ph: 03 5874 2114 or 03 5874 2768. Family Parks member. Dogs allowed, but not during busy periods.
Good management, friendly management. Reasonable value for money. Good amenities, were clean, were in good condition, water pressure was okay, there was adequate hot water. Poor sites, hard to negotiate in to/out of site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Laundry, good camp kitchen, dump point, security entry to park. Park atmosphere was okay, shady park, too many permanents for this park. Good clean heated pool. Suitable for a few days, the park was well maintained.
Likes: Grassed sites, close to town. Although amenities block was very limited it was new & continually cleaned during the day.
Dislikes: Small sites not level - our 7m van did not fit on the site given. Access was difficult also. There are ensuite drive through sites but these appeared to be divided in two for the Easter period. Only one amenities block served the whole park. It had 3 toilets/3 showers in each male & female areas. There was also a separate disabled shower/toilet for each.
Local Information: Close to Murray River.

Tooleybuc Caravan Park, Tooleybuc
Tooleybuc is south of Balranald, on the Murray River. 63 Murray Street, 50m north of post office. Ph: 03 5030 5025.
We were travelling this way and noted there was no current report for this park, so drove past to have a look. Note that we did not enter the park, so this should be taken into account when considering this report. This is a small park on a corner in Tooleybuc. A caravan guide reports that there are 8 tourist sites, but if so they would be small as there appears to be a number of permanents and little room for anything else. I would not stay at this park unless desperate for a nights rest as I believe there are many better alternatives in the vicinity.

Tumbarumba Creek Caravan Park, Tumbarumba
Lauder Street. Adjacent to showground at northern end of town centre, opposite town swimming pool, opposite cricket/football oval. Ph: 02 6948 3330. Pets at manager's discretion.
Manager's name is Malcolm and Maryanne. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice. Price was as expected, good value for money ($112 2A per week powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, poor water quality, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, no rec room. Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC electric bbq, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for a week or more.
Likes: Very quiet when we were there, would be the opposite during events like blueberry picking and tumba fest. Plenty of room, walking distance to town, friendly locals, good night lighting for those long happy hours, excellent tourist advice offered and assistant manager "Kip", the wounder-hound, is a perfect BBQ guest.
Dislikes: sites near best shade are unlevel, water quality is undrinkable at present due to drought (we used our own and did not bother hooking up to mains).
Parking: plenty of off road parking room
Added Touches: a basic country park that is good value with clean amenities, when empty, BUT would be a different story in any fruit picking season. Lots of cabins.
Local Information: This area is a hidden gem. Totally non touristy, great pub at Jingellic on Murray River, fantastic views of the Snowy Mountains, Yarrongonbilly caves, Carango Homestead, Kiandra, Power station tours, fresh blueberries, 30 vineyards with great cool climate wines, Pioneer Women's Museum, 4WD tracks and forests, Batlow apples. We had bush walks and waterfalls to ourselves but only 1 hour to Wagga if you do need a big town.
Roads: Although all roads into town are good quality, we found the Wagga road via Rosewood from the west is best, less traffic and less rises and falls.

Manager's name is Steve and Veronica. This is a lovely park on the banks of the Tumut River. It is a bit far to walk into town but can do. A nice walk to information centre and broom factory. The park is well spaced out and big sites. The lady wasn't too friendly and when I asked her a question wasn't too helpful. Steve though took me to my site and helped me on it. I was surrounded by a group of friends who my first night stayed up talking and music til past 11 pm, I didn't complain but each night they were pretty noisier with no consideration for other guests staying in the park or near them. I should of complained but was only there for 3 nights any longer and I would have. The sites by the river were lovely. Unfriendly staff, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site. Price was as expected, good value for money ($26.10 A1 for ensuite site per night).
Likes: This is a lovely park right on the Tumut river, the ensuites are quite spacious and big sites. Nice walk around. Nice caravan park, lovely feel about it and lots of trees.
Parking: Plenty of parking to check in.

We stayed in the park cabins (they're Lifestyle cabins with ensuites) and found them spacious, clean and well equipped. They have just built a new amenities block to add to / replace the older block for caravanners and campers. Can't rate them as we haven't been inside. We have stayed here on a few occasions (escaping Canberra) and find the peace of the river great. Great place for people with older kids. The riverside walk is also a cycle path, which leads to the 30km Lacmalac ride (details at the Old Butter Factory / Tourist Bureau.) We have found Tumut to be a friendly town - a great place to explore the Northern parts of Kosciusko National Park. Friendly management, management responsive to comments, management was helpful. Good value for money. Laundry, kiosk, security entry to park, quiet, open and roomy park, shady park. Suitable for a few days.
Likes: The access to town and walks and the river. Possums everywhere.
Local Information: Close to the Wetlands if you like bird watching; about 15kms from the Hume & Hovell walking tracks, Kosciusko National Park with Yarrangobilly Caves (about 30mins drive); the broom factory (only one in Australia we think!)

Park is very spread out with average size sites. There are lots of trees which would give plenty of shade in summer, but with lots of leaves in winter. Some sites are close to amenities and all are relatively flat. A lot of sites are situated on the river bank, making it a good walk to the toilets. There are three amenities block. One was quite new and situated far over in one corner away from the majority of the park, where as the other two amenities blocks were more centrally located to the majority of the sites. They were quite old and could do with refurbishing, as well as a good clean, as there are so many cobwebs and mould growing on the ceiling and walls, along with the ground-in dirt. Half the toilets were closed and had out of order signs on them in the ladies toilet. We stayed here for three days and their idea of cleaning was to squirt some blue toilet cleaner in the bowl and leave it there until somebody used the toilet to flush it away. They didn't even bother emptying the garbage bins or picking up any leaves or rubbish off the floor. We did not use the newer amenities block because it was situated a long long long way away from where our site was. There is a basic playground in average condition. Washing machines were quite cheap at $2 a load. There is a sign in the Laundry asking that the laundry be kept clean but they haven't bothered to keep the wall and ceilings clean as they are dirty with cobwebs and lots of wasp nests. Because the park is on the river, you would have to watch young children very carefully as the river flows very fast, as well as being freezing. The grounds were relatively tidy, but during winter they are covered with leaves. There was a basic camp kitchen with free gas BBQ's as well as an "open air" TV room which no doubt would get very little use, especially in winter. It is basically a carport with chairs and a TV. This could be a very nice park if the amenities were cleaned properly. We paid $28 for 2A 2C per night for a powered site.
Date 05/2006. Park Rating 2: Suitable for an overnighter (longer if the amenities were cleaned properly!).

Stayed 3 days, $20.00p/n powered site, with returnable boom gate fee. Reception very helpful and friendly. We asked for a site by the river and were allocated site 4, which was a large, level, grassed site with little shade, but suited us fine. This is a Council park with cabins and caravan sites situated around a big oval. We were some distance from the nearest ablutions block (with laundry), which was old with average cleanliness. Another small block near reception was very old and while the ladies had passable cleanliness, Leszek said that the men's needed a good scrub, so he only went there once. He preferred to walk to the other side of the oval. Another new block had been built at the far end of the park, turning right from reception. This was brick and was spotless. There are lots of cabins in this park but look well maintained, many of them new. There is an under cover TV area near the entrance because tv reception is very snowy. Laundry was clean and water pressure good. There were lots of wonderful large shady sites near the river when driving to the right of reception (near the spotless new block) but some sites had power and water, while others did not. A bit confusing. We had virtually no traffic noise, mainly because the river was running very swiftly and we were parked 3 feet from the river. Also, we were woken up early every morning to the prolific birdlife. Just wonderful! Beats waking up to an alarm clock!! This park accepts dogs, and while dogs were no problem in the smaller parks we had visited (probably because they were more visible), it was unfortunate that here we saw a few people take their dogs for a walk in the central large grassed oval area and then pretended that they did not see the dog leave a mess. There was no swimming pool in this park but there was a good bbq area. We had a few possums visit us looking for fruit, so with the birds, possums and fast running river and lovely views, we were in a magical spot. We would return but for longer.

My first reaction was not to stay here, as the entrance did not look very inviting, but, as we only intended to stay a couple of days and it was within walking distance of the shopping area, we booked in. We were very surprised at the price - $22 for 2A 2C per night. Sites are decent in size and all level with most having a concrete slab. Unfortunately there wasn't much grass around a number of sites. There were two amenities blocks, both central to all sites. One was closed as it was quiet and the main block had just finished having a major maintenance clean. The inside was quite modern and extremely clean. Soap and hand dryers supplied. The shower cubicles are very large and bigger than some ensuites we have stayed in. There was no pool, camp kitchen or rec room, but there were BBQ's and they were very clean. The park is situated beside the Murrumbidgee River and next to the Wagga Beach. There is a small basic playground in average condition.

Stayed 3 days, $22.00p/n powered site (were only going to stay 2 days). Charles, the owner, was very helpful. He told us that with our sized van, we would be better selecting our own site, and suggested a drive-through. It was a bit difficult manoeuvring the narrow roads in this old park, but we travelled slowly and chose a level grassed drive-through site with no shade, a short distance from the amenities block. Other sites were of various sizes, some with slabs and some with lots of shade. Neat cabins were dotted throughout the park. The central amenities block had recently been totally refurbished and was spotless. The laundry still required work but was clean and water pressure was good. Another block further up the park was in the process of refurbishment. There was no pool, a small playground, under cover bbq area, and entry to the park was via a security key. Charles drove through the park regularly and kept vacant sites watered, to help the grass. This quiet park, located on the river, is within walking distance to town and is a great park. We would definitely stay again. Lots to see in Wagga, and we were amazed at how the city had grown.
