Snowy mountains Hwy. Ph: 02 6454 2438. Pets allowed, at manager's discretion, on leash at all times.

Manager's name is Lars & Jan Leckstrom. Even though the park is situated on the highway it is not busy. Very quiet at night. Easy walk into town which has a small supermarket a few other shops. We love this area of the Snowy and will be back again. Amenities are a little outdated and dirty but hey you don't live in them. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money ($25.00 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were dirty, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, very few annex slabs, shade to most sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Camp kitchen, dump point, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. No pool. Suitable for few days.
Likes: Very quiet and peaceful park. Owners very friendly and helpful. Would stay again.
Dislikes: Amenities very dated and dirty. Some parts of the park look a bit tired.
Local Information: Northern area of Snowy; so much to see and do. Not as commercialised as Jindabyne etc. which suits us fine.
Roads: Hilly region so roads are up and down but in good condition.

Travelling easterly along the Snowy Mountain Hwy, shortly before reaching Adaminaby, take the right turn at the Anglers Reach sign on the Snowy Mountains Hwy. Thereafter, just follow the signs to the caravan park. Ph: 02 6454 2223. Small pets at manager's discretion.

Manager's name is Joyce. If we rated this park based on our overnight stay, it would get 5 stars. The view was great, the facilities clean, the manager very friendly. Realistically, if one were to stay there in a busy period, the facilities may not cope. It is a beautiful part of the world and we enjoyed our time there. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($26 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. No rec room, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: The views were great.
Local Information: Right on Lake Eucumbene, easy access to the lake and boat ramp
Roads: Clearly being on top of the Snowy Mountains, regardless of how one gets there, there are some mountains to climb. We came up the mountain from Tumut and the climb is very steep. The roads are pretty good, but narrow on the way up from Tumut. The road through to the coast get wider, but the traffic increases slightly. We enjoyed our trip through the Snowys very much.

What can you say about a five Star park other than it's great. Everything is in different areas. Ensuite sites, powered with concrete slab, powered without, unpowered, cabins and permanents. 107 Beach Road, Batehaven. Ph: 02 4472 4224. No pets allowed.

We stayed in a deluxe villa (without spa) right at the beach front of the park. This meant we had a beautiful private view of the beach and were visited by an incredible array of birdlife such as rainbow lorikeets and water birds, we enjoyed feeding throughout our stay. There were no tents blocking the incredible view from the deck which we found when we stayed at another park last year as here the camp sites are placed in and towards the centre of the park. The cabin was comfortable with a well equipped modern kitchen and BBQ/outdoor setting on the deck with private views of Coragans Beach. Eco-marine soap available for guest use in the bathroom. The bed was comfy with crisp, clean sheets. Also A large fridge/freezer made it great for our catch of the day. Easy access to Batehaven CBD where we found a selection of seaside eateries, 'cold' beer from the cellars, IGA grocery shopping. We would definitely stay here again. Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money.

On the Monaro Hwy between Cooma and Cann River via Nimmetabell. Ph: 02 6458 3270. Pets at manager's discretion, on leash at all times.

Manager's name is Alan. This is a good basic council caravan park. There is a platypus reserve nearby and a look out. People in the town are very friendly. Even though the park is near the highway it is quiet at night. Take a site and Alan will come and see you to collect the money and make sure you are set up etc. There is no pool but there is a public outdoor pool close by-open in summer only. There is also a historic railway station and a museum. You should be able to fill in a whole day here. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($23.50 2A per night, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to some sites, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, dump point, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting. Good playground in average condition. No pool. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: We liked the friendly staff and the peaceful atmosphere. The facilities are good and roomy. There are even heaters in the showers.

Report submitted by J.W. (16).

Manager's name is Big Al. We have previously stayed at this park, but some years ago and all ok. The current situation is very different and sadly the park has been let go with grounds leaving a lot to be desired. There are now 3 permanents and in discussion with one long-term resident the grass had only been cut once in the last 5 weeks, hence it was somewhere between shin and knee high and very uncomfortable in the excessive rain the east coast is presently experiencing. The other problem relates to overhanging tree branches causing interference with TV antennae on most caravans all of which is symptomatic of an owner (read local council) who apparently couldn't care less. On a positive note the amenities are unchanged and remain clean & tidy with plenty of hot water for showers. Park is on the banks of the Bombala River and have plenty of walking/cycling tracks at the front door, so to speak. For those wishing to leave the car in the park there is a very easy & quick walk to town across the bridge, I estimate 5 mins at best. We enjoyed a coffee or two with good eating spots available in the main street. All in all we were both disappointed to see the park after our previous experience, especially as costs are still the same. Not sure we would stay again unless the place has undergone a cleanup, but ok for the overnighter. Unable to comment on staff as there were none in the 2 days we stayed. Poor value for money ($23 2A per night powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to some sites, shade to most sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, camp kitchen, dump point, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Three). Quiet, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Clean UC electric bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: Close to town, quiet, easy to find, good amenities.
Dislikes: general untidiness of grounds and trees made set up very uncomfortable due to wet weather and tree branches interfering with roof of caravan & TV antennae.
Parking: None in evidence as no staff.
Local Information: Trout fishing in local rivers & streams and close to all "High Country" facilities. Also an excellent route to East Gippsland via Cann River or the more direct route to Orbost Vic via Delegate NSW
Roads: Sealed road from Cooma NSW or from Cann River Vic is excellent. If you plan to use the Delegate/Orbost Road it is mainly unsealed, but was in good condition last time I used it, but watch for timber trucks as they take no prisoners loaded or empty, so be careful.

The park is small and located on the river with a short walk into town. The manager was contact by phone located at small office and told us to pick a site and he arrived about 10 mins later to collect our money and give the code to the facilities. It is a good park for overnighting or few a few days. The kitchen is basic but serviceable. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($23 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Green Patch Camping Area, Booderee National Park
http://www.environment.gov.au/parks/booderee/visitor-activities/camping-greenpatch.html
Jervis Bay. Ph: 02 4443 0977. No pets allowed.

A wonderful spot slowly being destroyed by its popularity. Due to high traffic sites are getting very dusty and so less suitable for tents and better for camper vans and small caravans. Average staff friendliness, good staff response to complaints. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($50 2A 2C per night, peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were dirty, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, hot water was usually adequate but not when busy, disabled facilities. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to most sites, hard to negotiate into site. No rec room, disabled facilities. Quiet, open & roomy park, too much shade, family/friendly atmosphere. UC electric bbq ($1). No playground, no pool. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Spectacular beach with sites only a couple of mins away. Bushy and basic, good for self contained camping. Only 3hrs or so from Sydney.
Dislikes: Shower facilities become very dirty by 8pm. Roads near sites should be road-based rather than left as dirt as the high traffic has reduced the roads to dustbowls. Every time a car drives by (which they all do because of the one-way system) your site gets a covering of dust. You need to go into a ballot for a site in peak times. You do get to nominate a site but it's luck of the draw what you get - if anything. The ballot closes in September and they let you know what you got, if anything, in October/November. If you miss out this can make it hard to book somewhere else.
Local Information: Jervis Bay is wonderful for short walks, biking and safe swimming (Huskisson Lagoon). Good area for kids and not too expensive.

Likes: Situated right on the shores of Burrill Lake. Beautiful grassy sites or pay extra for concrete slabs. Well maintained park, with two amenities blocks - so if one is being cleaned the other is available. Very peaceful, lots of bird life with bird feeding in the afternoons.
Dislikes: Site space is a little tight for van, annex and car. Would be an issue during peak periods we think.

Formerly the Snowtels Caravan Park. 286 Sharp Street (Snowy Mountains Hwy), 1 km west of town on outskirts. Ph: 02 6452 1828. Dogs on leash.

Local Information: Cooma essentially caters for the winter snowfields tourists as has plenty of hostel, hotel and motel accommodation. It is centrally located in the Monara region and a good base for exploring the Snowy Mountains. Tourist train was very good. Historic buildings.

A park to stop at only because there is no other option. The whole place is tired, lacks any maintenance, is very poorly laid out on the side of a rather steep hill. The manager is new to the job & not very energetic. The smell in the men's toilet is so bad it will make you sick; the whole place needs a major steam clean & disinfect, it rates one of the worst in Australia. This is a park to avoid. Average staff friendliness. Poor value for money ($25 2A per night, shoulder season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were dirty, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area. Adequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to some sites, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, basic rec room, book swap available, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Likes: Although Cooma is hilly, the sites have been levelled to accommodate car, annex and van, which gives an unusual vista. There is a mini golf area that we played, it could do with a lot of maintenance, however we enjoyed it.
Dislikes: "Over the top" speed humps.

Upon arrival our van was blocked on the hilly approach to reception by a delivery truck. Had to wait until truck had completed its business. The only level area at reception is immediately at the front door. Only room for one van at a time. No concrete slabs, limited shade. The roads within the park are in extremely poor condition with large potholes. No assistance offered to locate on site. Powered site was adjacent to what turned out to be an overflowing septic( ) tank. Fluid was running out of the top of the tank and the smell was overpowering. This was accompanied by blowflies and a generally unpleasant situation. Power and water were quite a way from the site. When too much power was used, air con etc. the power tripped out and as a result we could only use restricted power even though the weather was in the high 30s. Amenities were very clean but not close by. There did not appear to be any provision for disabled persons in either the laundry (steps) or the showers toilets etc. Tennis court would not have been used for some time and it was dirty and covered in leaves, as was the mini golf course. The cabins appeared to have had some TLC and should be very good but as for powered caravanning, I would prefer to find alternative accommodation. Average staff friendliness, reasonable value for money ($24 2A per night, powered). Poor laundry. Not enough shade. No pool. Suitable for overnighter.

At end of Lake Parade - is signposted from Grand Pacific Dve. Ph: 02 4285 5688. No pets allowed.

Great location and price spoilt somewhat by staff with a lack of understanding of running a park. We were mixed in with tent campers and one couple staying for a couple of weeks had to move from their site to make way for a tent camper who stayed only a weekend. Sites are spread out with several different areas and for this reason we could not understand why tents and caravans were mixed together instead of having separate areas as with many other parks. Showers are great if you are 3 ft tall, the shower head is at a height of about 5ft 6in and juts out from wall about an inch. Cubicle is also small and has a poor drying area. Being a council run park the emphasis seems to be on building more holiday cabins. The amenities for the area we were at (17 sites) is totally inadequate for anything other than when park is very quiet especially with only 1 of the 2 washing machines working at this amenities block. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice. Good value for money ($160 2A per week, powered, off-peak season). We paid $144 because of pensioner. Inadequate number of amenities, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, very few annex slabs, no sites are shaded, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade, no permanents. Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No pool. Friendly staff. Poor value for money ($40 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to some sites, shade to some sites, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good camp kitchen, dump point, secure entry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, a few permanents. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Easy access to the beach through key operated gates-felt very secure with high fencing and secure access points; large park with more than one amenity block - so if one is being cleaned options available
Dislikes: Price. $40 2A mid-week November is far too high. Even though it is close to the beach, there was nothing at all to justify this price for 2 adults who don't wish to indulge in the climbing spider or jumping castle. This could be why there was only 5 other tourist vans there during our stay. Got eaten alive by sandflies-worse than anything experienced previously - so be vigilant and prepared with repellent and tea tree oil.
Parking: Check-in parking available
Local Information: 4 kms out of main hustle of Culburra shops which have all the required shops/eateries including a newly opened Woolies, bike/walking track from CP to shops if so inclined; nice bushland walks to lighthouse site, lookouts and Crookhaven River access and fishing jetties.

Manager's name is Steve & Kathy Pascall. Well maintained park but we found it a bit too isolated. Approx. 4kms from Culburra Village and 20kms from Nowra. Ideal for a quiet holiday by the beach especially for lovers of fishing. Friendly staff. Very good value for money ($25 2A per night, ensuite, off-peak season). Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, very few concrete annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, secure entry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade, a few permanents. No playground. Clean pool is shaded, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Park is very well maintained. Lots of grass in tourist area. Close to beach and river. Excellent for fishing.

Bill Jeffreys Memorial Caravan Park, Delegate
Click here for park details on My Park List
Situated just N of the township via an uphill walk some 10 mins away. Ph: 02 6458 8167. Pets allowed.

This is a huge area as part of the local sports & recreation park. It will accommodate the biggest RV or van, there is no need to have any closeness from other travellers. Toilet & shower facilities are very limited but are cleaned daily, the grounds are well maintained & rubbish removed regularly. If you want a few days of R & R in a quiet location, this is the place for you. On our stay we had 5 acres to ourselves. The power poles are well set apart so that 4 vans can use one pole with everyone having lots of space. Drive thru, drive round, drive anywhere, the area is big, well mowed grassed, with some large trees for shade. A council employee comes round daily to collect the fees ($13.00 unpowered, $17.50 powered) & provide a key for the free laundry. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice. Good value for money ($13 2A, per day unpowered peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with annex slabs, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, camp kitchen, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.

As there are no previous reports, note that the directions are fairly well shown on the main road near town entrance. Park is located on the banks of the local creek/river and would flood very easily given enough rain, which was bucketing down on the day of our visit. There was plenty of water laying in pools in the area and this was not conducive to a happy experience. Note that there is a distinct lack of water/electricity connections with the caravanners needing to make sure of enough leads to use these facilities. The shower/toilet block is basic and the wet weather did not help the overall picture, however grounds were clean, tidy and a child playground is available next to the amenities block. I think that the administration of the grounds are in the hands of the local publican, but an enquiry to any shopkeeper would no doubt tell the story. Delegate is a very small town with approximately 450 residents and is an alternative route to East Gippsland via Bonang & Orbost. The road from Bombala south to Delegate is sealed and in good condition, however it does change to unsealed approximately 5 kms S of the township and travellers should be warned to watch for timber trucks who regularly use the road and take no prisoners whether loaded or empty, so be careful. Very friendly staff. Reasonable value for money ($17.50 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, no sites with annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, drive-through sites. Poor laundry, no rec room, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra). Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade, no permanents. Good playground in good condition. No bbqs, no pool. Suitable for few days.
Likes: Close to town, quiet at that time of year, fishing at front door.
Dislikes: Lack of thought when laying out park for caravan use. No co-ordination for water & power poles.
Local Information: Local hotel, golf club and a couple of cafes provide meals.
Roads: Main road from Bombala is sealed and in excellent condition. Road from Orbost is main unsealed except for last 5 kms before township.

South Durras is only 15kms N of Bateman's Bay. This terrific park was nearly empty when we visited in early May. Ask about their specials if you plan to stay 4 nights or a week. An ensuite site cost us less than $25 per night. Surrounded on 3 sides by thick bush, ferns and gum trees with no neighbours and facing the sand hills and the beach 100m across the road this place is in a pristine spot, enveloped as it is by the Murramarang National Park. Villas and cabins seem to be luxurious and all facilities are modern and spotless. Permanent holiday vans are down the back and out of sight. There are 2 new ensuite sites at the front of the park. Kangaroos feed on the lawns at dusk and may try to get into your van to find food. 'Rustle a plastic bag in their face to discourage this' we were told and it works. Tap water is not for drinking but rainwater is available from tanks albeit a little tannin stained.

Eden Information

Eden a pretty town. Plenty of fishing, and beach activities. Large fishing fleet area so can buy seafood fresh from market. Town has 2 grocery shops plus others like bakery, butcher, newsagent and the like as well as fuel.
Cheapest petrol is the petrol station near top of the hill heading S out of town. Small surcharge for using credit card, but still makes it cheaper than any of the other places. Of course if paying by cash, makes it even cheaper.
Guy at fishing & tackle place in main street was very helpful. The fishing & tackle place on the highway has closed.
We wanted to buy fresh seafood from the "wholesale" place on the corner of Weecoon Street and Imlay Street (just past the wharves) but they said that the boats had not been out for weeks. Best to ask about the freshness of the seafood before buying.
Eden is naturally very beautiful. It has a lot of history associated with the whaling industry. There are plenty of good restaurants and coffee shops. The Eden port with the fishing trawlers is a fascinating place to visit.
Local hotels have good meals and the Fisherman's club offers dinner and bingo nights
Fishing, whale museum, great eating.

Managers name is Peter. New managers have been there less than one year. No extra maintenance since we were there three years ago, in fact camp kitchen now closed permanently. Manager said place was up for sale (but to remain as a caravan park). We had friends stying in a cabin, which was very clean and they had no complaints about it. Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff offered tourist advice. Good value for money ($265 A4 2C for 5 nights, powered, shoulder season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, separate bathroom, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes or 5th wheelers, no sites have annex slabs, some sites are shaded, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by Good laundry - w/machine $2.40; dryers $2; no rec room, no camp kitchen, late checkout allowed, secure entry, book swap, boat wash. Peaceful, open and roomy, not enough shade, a few permanents. Pets allowed, at manager's discretion, on leash at all times Clean UC electric bbq ($1), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Took a long time to cook on the electric bbqs, of which only two for the whole park, at the same UC bbq area. Excellent playground in good condition. Clean pool, seating provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families.
Dislikes: Needs money spent on it to bring it back up from a basic park suited to basic family holidays. For the touring vanner it is ok for a few days to explore the area but if we come to Eden again we would check out another park.
Parking: Only room for one van in front of boom gates, but plenty of room in front of park in "off the road" area.

5 hours S of Sydney on the coast. If coming from the south, turn left at the roundabout and it's about 1 km north, 100m after the Mitre 10 store. If coming from the north, the park is on the left after the Fountain Caravan Park which is on your right. Corner Princes Hwy & Barclay St. Ph: 02 6496 1172 or 1800 224 460. Top Tourist member. All pets allowed on leash. Pet dedicated sites but no dogs during peak times. Separate areas for campers with dogs.

Stayed 1 night, $28.80 per night, Top Tourist discount. Security entry. We left the "Spirit of Tasmania" in Melbourne at 7.30am and travelled N up the coast until we were too tired to travel any further. We drove into the "Garden of Eden" and asked if they had a drive-through site for the night so that we did not have to unhook. We would have loved to stay longer but had to get home quickly because of commitments. Tammy was very helpful and friendly and found us two smaller sites which we could use as a drive-through, sites D2 and D3. We would have been happy to park anywhere but this was an excellent level site with grass and slab and shade, not far from the amenities block and near the camp kitchen. The amenities block was as new, spotless and consisted of 6 showers and 6 toilets, had soap, paper towels and dryers. There was even a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. I asked Tammy if the amenities block was new or re-furbished. She said it was ten years old but they took great care to make sure it was in pristine condition and well maintained. The laundry consisted of 4 as new washing machines ($3) and 3 spotless dryers. There is an excellent camp kitchen with two spotless bbqs, tables and seats, and a verandah off the camp kitchen with seating so that you can enjoy the view. There is also a playground and doggy parlour with a bath and steps leading to the bath. There is also a swimming pool, mini golf, chess and tennis court and dump point. Also a nature reserve to walk your dog. Night lighting is good. We liked everything about this park. We would have loved to stay in this park longer. It is a lovely quiet spotless roomy park with tar roads and lovely gardens. Highly recommended for a few days or few weeks.

This is a large park with many tourist sites for vans and camping. There is an old amenities block near some permanent sites, but the main amenities block is huge, relatively new and clean. This wasn't our usual stay at a caravan park - the weather was awful, so we opted for the spa chalet instead of the tent. Having spotted the 3-for-2 nights discount on the Aspen Parks website we felt we could afford the indulgence - and then we magically got BIG4 member's discount also. We would recommend this cabin - there is only one spa cabin - but the other beach frontage cabins looking similar are surely nice as well. This cabin had the works including dishwasher, spa on balcony, nice big fluffy towels, DVD player and the second bedroom had a double bed plus two bunks, so good for two couples as well as people with kids. Note that there are a few trees between you and your view, but you do see the ocean, and the walk to the normally placid and sheltered bay is only a hundred m or so. Looking around the caravan park itself, which was almost deserted due to the poor weather, it seemed pretty nice. No slab sites that we could see, a few ensuite sites including two on the beach frontage area, not a lot of tree shade, as expected so close to the ocean, though there were obviously a few trees in progress. One amenities block was getting the full overhaul, and the camp kitchen was fabulous looking - full stove/oven, huge bench space, and enormous TV area. A regular pointed out that the TV room gets a bit crowded in peak season. This was the sort of park we'd usually say that we'd return to, but as we're not really beachgoers it's unlikely we actually would return, we'd probably stay somewhere else along the coast to explore different towns. Reasonable value for money ($180 2A, cabin, peak season). We paid $110 because of seasonal discount offer and BIG4 discount.

Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($36 2A 1C, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with concrete annex slabs, no sites are shaded. Good laundry, no rec room, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra). Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade, too many permanents. Good playground in average condition. Suitable for few days.
Likes: Well maintained. Good playground for children, but needed some new chip-bark and the jumping pillow needs a good scrub. A short walk to the beach.

Likes: Right on the beach, quiet during the week.
Dislikes: Amenities would not cope during peak periods. Steady flow of vehicles on the weekend driving through the campground to check out surfing conditions.

Price per night is $25 Monday to Thursday and $30 Friday to Sunday. We stayed on one of the beachfront sites, which are very roomy. Comments in this report refer to these sites. There are more caravan sites near the entrance of the park, including some drive throughs. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($25/30 2A per night, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, extra charge for shower. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, secure entry. Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade. Clean bbq (20c), dismal bbq area atmosphere. Suitable for few days, well maintained park.
Likes: Close to beach (unpatrolled). Close to Wollongong CBD
Dislikes: Water taps on hand basins must be held down to get water. 10cent coin required for shower to get hot water. This is a nuisance if you forgot to bring a coin and have to get back to the caravan to get one. No soap, paper towels or hand dryers provided.

When approaching Gerringong township (after turning left off highway), turn left at second roundabout (Bridges Road) and the park office is about 200m on the left. Ph: 02 4234 1285 or 1800 655 819. Pets allowed, not in peask season.

Manager's name is John Broadfoot. You have room to pull in and register but after this you will be directed to do a U turn as the entrance is a little way back down the street on the right. This is a great caravan park. A short walk across the road to the beach, a large, partly covered pool (with a covered toddler's pool and plenty of deckchairs) and a well equipped camp kitchen with plenty of seating. This is a park with a large number of holiday vans (the site straddles Bridges Road) but there are 43 tourist sites and these are very well catered for. Sites 12 to 15 (Bluegum Loop) are the best as a deck runs along the rear of these sites and there are picnic tables and 2 barbecues. Sites 1 to 18 (Cauarina Camp) are pleasant but do not have the same proximity to the camp kitchen and the amenities block which is also well maintained and very clean. Soap and hand dryer are supplied. We don't know how they would cope at Xmas or Easter but we stayed out of peak season so we virtually had it to ourselves. There is a games room next to the pool with a little kitchen (barbeque and sink). Pets are allowed. Price was $34 2A for a powered site which initially we thought expensive but you've got to be realistic about S coast parks - they are very seasonal. This park has peak, shoulder and low seasons. Other parks have even more. You could spend a week or more here especially if you're fond of the beach. The Kiama area has a lot of attractions and there is a burgeoning wine industry.
Likes: The camp kitchen is excellent. There is a fridge, sink, 2 barbecues (one you could do a roast in), electric cook top, microwave, toaster, kettle etc. The Bowls club is right next door to the park.

Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly unlevel sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, no sites with annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, basic rec room, kiosk, secure entry, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 1). Quiet, claustrophobic park, not enough shade, too many permanents. Congenial bbq area atmosphere. Good playground in average condition. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: The shade on the banks of the Crooked River was very pleasant in the heat
Dislikes: The general look of the park it was not what one would expect from a BIG4 park. The camp kitchen and BBQ,s were only up one end of the park that catered mainly for unpowered tent sites well away from the powered sites.
Parking: yes there was plenty of parking for cars without vans to park, but limited for cars with vans

Manager's name is Tim and Carmen. Tim and Carmen have returned as Managers for the Kiama Council owned park and the park is now back on track and improvements were evident. The amenities on the beachside have all been re-tiled and much improved. It is a shame that guests do not keep them tidy during the peak times. Disabled guests may have difficulty with the hand basins as they are now one step up from the main floor and the doorways into the disabled toilet and shower have been narrowed. The council could spend money on redeveloping some sites making them larger as it is very crowded in peak times. There are a small number of concrete annexe pads and four ensuite sites. Two of the ensuites sites are very small. There would be drive through sites available during quiet times. It is difficult to access some sites in peak times because of over-crowding of surrounding sites. Access to Seven Mile Beach is excellent and the beach is patrolled during the school holidays. The park has secure boom gates but these were damaged in a storm at Christmas time and the Manager was having difficulty with a repair person. Considering it is a very busy park at peak times it is usually quiet by the noise curfew of 10.30pm. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($50 2A per night powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, small sites, concrete annex slabs, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, good rec room, kiosk, disabled facilities, secure entry, van parking. Peaceful, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in average condition. Dirty pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families.
Likes: The location of the park is fantastic. We have visited the park for many years and are fortunate to always have our favourite site. The amenities are now much improved. The former Managers have now returned and the park has improved.
Dislikes: Children running around and riding bikes until very late at night with no parental supervision. Disappointing that the cafe near the park does not carry a range of 'emergency items' and does not stay open very late at night.
Parking: Parking available at reception.
Added Touches: Free kids activities. Cable tv to sites with a deposit on the cable.
Local Information: Excellent meals are available at the Gerroa Boat Fishermans Club on top of the hill from the park. A great beach, patrolled in holiday times. Good shopping facilities at Gerringong and Berry. Lots of interesting art, craft, wineries in the area.

Huskisson Beach Tourist Park, Huskisson

Follow the signs to 'tourist parks' as you drive from Huskisson towards Vincentia. You'll see the White Sands park on the left, look to the right down Beach Road, the low-key entrance gates which read 'Huskisson Beach' (other side is covered by bushes) is the caravan park. Ph: 02 4441 5142 or 130 0733 027. No pets allowed. Family Parks member.

One of the Holiday Haven Group of parks in this area. Seemed less windy than the White Sands park, and also seemed a little cleaner/newer. Having checked in, it looks like it's in the middle of a good renovation, the roads are new and the cabins are nice, the main amenities block looks nice enough but we had an ensuite so not sure about that. Laundry cold wash only. Ensuite was fabulous including heater-light combination. Ensuite sites aren't slab, which is different. Lots of permanent looking vans but they're actually holiday vans, only one actual permanent. Nice but small pool and playground. No camp kitchen but lots of BBQs. Staff are really nice and location is great, beach views and walk to the Moona Moona Creek lagoon which is sheltered and kid friendly. Bit windy if the NNE blows. Would definitely stay again.
Dislikes: Only complaint, and it's not the park's fault, the whole area seems geared to large groups of presumably Sydneysiders coming down en masse with their squads of kids and making a ruckus. But the mob next to us did shut up after we complained to management, whether that was intervention or they just got tired out who knows. But this seems to affect the whole area, we saw similar groups everywhere we went in the area. $25 2A, ensuite, peak season.

Everything about the park is average & all camp sites are in an extremely poor location as constant traffic is passing day and night. Very noisy and unsafe camping grounds. If you are camping, for the safety of your family I recommend you do not stay at this park. This park concentrates on cabin bookings only and forgets about the rest. Average staff friendliness, bad staff response to complaints. Price was as expected, poor value for money ($30 2A 2C per night, unpowered, peak season). Amenities are close to only some sites, were dirty, condition is reasonable, water pressure is bad, there was inadequate hot water, disabled facilities. Inadequate number of tourist sites. Basic laundry, basic rec room. Noisy, claustrophobic park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Dirty UC gas bbq ($1), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in average condition. Clean pool is open to sun, kid-safe pool area, toddlers catered for. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: Short walks to the beach
Dislikes: Camping grounds are in an extremely unsafe location with constant traffic noise. We had a site on a bend and the only thing that protected us from the constant speeding "P" plate traffic was a wire fence. What is a wire fence going to protect you from speeding traffic And the noise from people & traffic returning home from the local pub was unbearable. The language was disgusting and it went on for hours. For the safety of your family, do not stay at this caravan park.

A reasonable park with plenty of weekender/holiday type vans. Friendly staff who explained layout and facilities. Priced higher than expected $35 2A, but tourist sites fully booked when we arrived and we were given an ensuite site which we could have used as ensuite at $50 per day, or used the common amenities and only paid the $35. Amenities were clean and appeared to cope. Had a small playground and no swimming pool, but were right next to a sandy beach so the lack of a pool did not matter. The roads were tarred although the ensuite sites, which were drive through, were ash/chitter and consequently the dirt was tramped into the ensuite each time is was used, especially following rain, or early mornings when the grass was still dewy. Used a sponge to clean the floor and I suggested a cheap mop and bucket should be placed in the ensuites. They replied that they would probably be taken with the patrons when they moved on. There were a reasonable number of tourist sites, most had an ocean view, were level and had adequate space to park the van, annex and car next to the annex.
Parking: Parking during booking in is not good. It's okay for one car/van but if a second pulls up behind the first it blocks traffic into the park.

A large park surrounded by hills and right on the beach. Has a shop, a large swimming pool, a toddlers pool, and kiddies playground. Has three amenities blocks, two old but were clean, the other has been renovated in recent years. Amenities did not cope whilst we were there. Try to avoid Friday night to Sunday. It becomes very busy with Sydneysiders arriving on Friday and leaving late Sunday. There are literally hundreds of people arrive and are crammed in everywhere. The site behind us had three small dome tents with a further three on the site next to it. All occupants were related and stayed up till all hours sitting around chatting. When they eventually went to bed they thought it was good fun to call out to each other from within their tents. There were similar arrangements on many sites around the park. Sites are all grassed but flat, no concrete annex pads. Very cramped. Room for van and annex but car had to be parked sideways at front. No sullage. Fair value for money, $36 2A. When we arrived we looked around and selected a beachfront site but were told they are being "rested" and were unavailable. However several motorhomes were allowed to park there. During a walk around the park I noticed maybe every second tap was dripping and I was unable to tighten them anymore. Went and reported it at the office but nothing was done during the week we were there.

Go through Kiama, on the way to Nowra, just before Nowra sign and bend in the road, is a sign hard to see that says Kendalls Beach. Ph: 02 4232 1790 or 1800 111 224. Dogs allowed, must be on leash at all times, not allowed in peak times. No dogs allowed on the beach in front of park (council restriction, penalty applies).

Entry to park is hidden and a bit unusual behind blue house. No sign to "Enter Here". When you drive down Bonaira St go to the bottom of the hill (steep) go past 4 houses from the traffic island then enter through the driveway between the 4th and 5th house (the 5th house is blue in colour, or it was in Dec 2011). Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($30 2A). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, very few annex slabs, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen. Peaceful, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade, no permanents. Basic playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: Loved the area, very close to lovely beach, the Camp kitchen is huge lots of room and has a full kitchen with TV, drink machine, lounge chairs and is all enclosed.
Dislikes: Hard to get into site closest to office with 100 series and 18ft van, but if you were put on site close to the exit (on way out) parking the van would be ok.
Parking: While waiting to book site you block the entry to park. Nothing you can do about this it must be accepted.

Manager's name is Clinton and Kate. Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($27 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). We paid $24.30 because of RACV discount. Likes: Attractive park right on the beach in the beautiful town of Kiama. Well landscaped park that is well maintained and spotlessly clean.
Dislikes: Only that we couldn't go on the beach with our dog but that is council ruling not the caravan parks.

Likes: Although this is a small park they have very clean amenities. You pay a deposit for a key for the shower block which is within the toilet block & the toilets are locked at sundown. Music piped through amenities & laundry. They supply an antenna cable for your T.V
Dislikes: It's actually on a public beach so all sorts of people can walk through. Managers are very strict though on the public using the amenities. Laundry block is also locked at 8pm so you cannot wash late at night. The site we had was a little difficult to get the van into.
Added Touches: This park really is so well maintained & atmosphere is friendly. The camp kitchen has to be seen to be believed - T.V, table & chairs, cooking equipment & utensils & cleaning equipment supplied. Public BBQ'S also on grass section of beach, great for get-togethers. Beautiful views and can hear surf at night. Washing machines $3 per load.
Local Information: Can see the blowhole & lighthouse from park & walk to The Little Blowhole. Kiama is a lovely place, lots to see and do. Lots of lovely shops, cafes etc. Several parks with playgrounds. Town is very well maintained. Coastal scenery is stunning. Close to Gerringong & Berry which is a lovely town and well worth a visit. Will certainly come back to Kiama.

Entrance and exit are separate with the entrance being 150m past the exit sign. It is an easement between houses and the sign is small and hidden by trees in one of the houses. It is not often one finds a park at this value beside a beach with co-axial TV at the power outlet and with some cable TV channels. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money ($135 2A per week, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, concrete annex slabs to some sites, shade to most sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, good rec room, plenty of shade, no permanents. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: Location and price.
Dislikes: Almost concealed entry to park. Very difficult to access and exit the site we were allocated (although most others would have been OK)
Local Information: There are many attractions along the Illawarra coast and hinterland and it is not difficult to find interesting activities within an easy distance of Kiama.
Roads: North of Kiama the Princes Hwy is divided to Sydney and beyond but to the S it is two lane, winding and long stretches of restricted speed limits.

I was put on a small site too small for my van, and the manager was there soon after, and moved me to another site and directed me, he also went back to get me another TV cable as the other one was not long enough he thought. Very helpful. When I said the inside BBQ didn't work, he double checked, it did work anyway, just my mistake. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for money ($20 2A per night, powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is bad, there was adequate hot water, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, concrete annex slabs to some sites, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good rec room, late checkout allowed (up to noon), good camp kitchen. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, no permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Likes: I liked where the park was situated and a lovely view. The showers were locked so needed a key, nice camp kitchen, one BBQ outside and one inside. Nice walk into town also.
Dislikes: The road past some sites was a public access to road, so not too secure, had to take everything in at night, as there was a notice that things get taken. The best views were all taken up with cabins, the powered sites didn't have the great views.
Parking: Spot for check in
Local Information: Nice walk into town and the blowholes. The blowholes and little blowholes are great. Not a lot to do in Kiama but a nice town.
Roads: Great road

Surf Beach Holiday Park, Kiama

Adjacent to surf beach. Ph: 02 4232 1791 or 1800 222 334. No pets allowed.

This park is in an exceptional location close to town & with views to die for. There is a delightful walkway along the cliff top & down to the beaches either side of the park. The only downside is the park is on a hill with no level sites, the limited number of tourist sites are jammed in behind the cabins & amongst permanents. It's pretty much a take it or leave it scene if you want to visit Kiama. Kendall's Beach Park is no better except it is flat there. The amenities block is not conveniently located & needs to be steam cleaned to get rid of the smell. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice. Reasonable value for money ($25 2A, shoulder season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly unlevel sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, annex slabs to some sites, very few sites are shaded, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, good rec room, camp kitchen, dump point, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Noisy, claustrophobic park, not enough shade, too many permanents. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area. Suitable for few days, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: proximity to Kiama--took train to Sydney central for day out; concession fare only $2.80
Dislikes: narrow roads, difficulty in getting on site, almost impossible to negotiate getting out due to tight turns & cars parked along roadway

Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. No pool. Clean pool, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park
Likes: Ten minute walk to town along path at rear of park. Great views from headland. Good camp kitchen.
Dislikes: Although the amenity blocks have undergone major renovation and look great they have lousy shower heads which are small and everything gets wet.
Parking: Limited parking in park entrance-can park on main road in front. Staff cars are parked in drive area which restricts movement.
Local Information: Lots of good drives from Kiama available. Lovely town with some good walks and of course the blow hole.

Manager's name is Tony & Leonie Loiterton. Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints. Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($58.00 A4 per night powered, shoulder period). I thought it was strange that site cost $26.00 per night but extra 2 people staying with us cost $32 per couple per night. I thought this is a little over the top for additional persons. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were dirty, condition is poor, water pressure is bad, hot water was usually adequate but not when busy, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, poor night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs to some sites, shade to some sites, hard to negotiate into site. Good laundry, basic rec room, late checkout allowed (past noon), good camp kitchen. Claustrophobic park, family/friendly atmosphere. Suitable for few days.
Likes: right on the surf beach. excellent position. would stay here again and put up with negatives just for the location.
Dislikes: Amenities block is old and run down. In need of refurbishment. It was dirty and the whole stay (4 days) I did not see this cleaned, even though park was only half full. Garbage bins were left outside amenities block and smell was unbearable as bins in front were overflowing but others behind these were empty. The site we were given initially was right on the border of the park with only a 2 foot high log fence separating the park from footpath. This meant that our Expanda van would over hang the footpath outside the park! Requested another site and was given a site with a steep driveway up to a concrete slab. Our van is raised but still scraped badly on the crest of the concrete driveway and were unsuccessful getting the van up, which most vans would have trouble with, so headed back to the office to request yet another site. Were then given a sloping grass site with 2 small square concrete pads for wheels to sit on. We stayed here but were lucky that no one was on site behind us when we left as would have got bogged trying to go off front ways.
Parking: Parking was poor and had to double park in front of boom gates and run in to register
Local Information: Kiama is a great place with lots to see and do. Day trip to Kangaroo Valley and Berry are a must.

Manager's name is Tony, Toni and Jan. This is a great park, we went too for a competition so got a special rate. Management are so helpful and put on a free BBQ for us. The location is just superb and is great. The dogs love the beach and the lagoon. The kangaroos that come around at night and the possums are so friendly they eat out of your hands. Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, very good value for money ($8 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, extra charge for shower, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, small sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to most sites, hard to negotiate into site. Late checkout allowed (up to noon), secure entry. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere. UC BBQ, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Pool is open to sun. Suitable for a week or more.
Likes: I love where this park is situated right on the beach, it is truly dog friendly and the owners are great. It is a nice drive to places or can just spend your time doing nothing or lazing about on the beach. The owners are extremely nice and friendly and even corresponding by e-mail they were great. I would come back here again. WE requested a site next to the amenities the day we were coming, and we got a spot extremely close. The possums came down at night and were so cute and friendly. Nice to walk around the park with your dog or go down to the beach with the dog. If only all dog friendly parks were as "dog friendly" as this one.
Dislikes: There is no lighting around the powered sites. No BBQ around the powered site, all around the cabin area. Some sites are hard and small, our site was great and suited us great.
Parking: There is a check in bay
Local Information: There is not a lot at Kioloa but a nice drive to Ulladulla or Batemans Bay or you can just do nothing and walk along the beach.

Likes: I liked the fact that it took me back to the seventies type of camping\caravanning; most patrons were very friendly and the peaceful atmosphere. Proximity to the beach. Although this park was very crowded it still had a great atmosphere and most patrons were helpful and friendly.
Dislikes: No separate water taps for each site. I felt that we were squashed in the sites were too small. Having to pay 20 cents for three mins of hot water for a shower.
Parking: Parking area just inside the driveway near to the registration office.
Added Touches: I loved the fact that the local butcher, green grocer, seafood shop and newsagent would come into the park every day or two, to sell their wares; saved having to go out of the park. Fires were allowed but only in fire pits and on non powered sites.
Local Information: Beach was good for fishing, some nice bushwalks but not much else though.
Roads: The road in is a little bit rough and narrow in sections but otherwise no problems should be encountered.

Likes: Great location near the beach, well set up for families, has little restaurant / cafe on site, had live music on weekend, had kids activities during holidays.
Dislikes: We were given 2 sites when we booked as they couldn't fit a fifth wheeler. Upon arrival the 2 sites were not suitable so given another single site which we struggled to negotiate and fit.

Ph: 02 6495 1746 or 1800 803 621. Top Tourist member. Pets welcome, outside peak times only, with managers discretion.

We were not at impressed with this park. There has been a change of managers who were blaming any problem on the past management. The sites are big but almost impossible to get your van into. Roads dusty and even unmade in places. A very good camp kitchen and pool help. The playground is old and ordinary. I know you can do better than this park in Merimbula.

Manager's name is Wayne and Judy Bunn. This could be a 5 rating park except for the length of some of the sites. The reception staff have not been trained on what size van will fit which site. Some of the sites, especially around the amenity block are very short. Our van is only 19.5 ft and we had great difficulty in lining the van up with the site, even with park assistance we couldn't get the door of the van onto the concrete slab. Those with longer vans should ensure when booking in that the allocated site would cater for their length. Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($33 2A per night, powered, peak season). We paid $29 because of Club discount 10%. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes or 5th wheelers, annex slabs to some sites, very few sites are shaded, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. The park is in a suburban situation and is not obvious. A well set out and spacious caravan park in a pleasant suburban location close to the beach. You can walk into town over the bridge but this would be a good workout. There are some ensuite units, many cabins and more than 50 powered sites. An en-suite site was $36 after BIG4 discount. It is a tourist park with no permanents. There is an excellent camp kitchen, TV lounge, laundry and large office with plenty of room to park your van off the street. It would be extremely popular in holiday periods but was quiet in early May. What the promotional literature doesn't tell you is that the park is under the flight path of the airport located just S of town. It can be noisy when planes are landing or taking off. Merimbula is a busy town but a good base to visit Eden, Bega, Central Tilba, Colbargo, Bermagui and the pretty Pambula beach is only a few kms away. Tourist drive no 10 will take you into the hinterland onto a good dirt road where you can picnic at the delightful 6 Mile Creek deep in the rainforest.

Manager's name is Aaron & Jane Bennett, Des & Trish Walter. Would not hesitate to recommend this park and the people who run it. We appeared out of the mist, fog, rain and storms; check-in was quick and easy even though we were a group who didn't know what type of cabin/site combo we wanted. And then we needed to borrow a hairdryer because our tent was wet from the morning. And then we needed ... they couldn't have been more helpful people. Friends with cabin were happy and there were more fancy cabins that looked even nicer. Grass site we had for our camper trailer was beautiful, best grass we've seen, lush and well-drained. Not a lot of concrete sites to choose from if you're that way inclined, but they're probably on their way as the whole park is getting a makeover. Current owners very proactive, only been there for about a year. Quite a few holiday vans (not tourist sites) but only a couple seemed permanent. Amenities are pretty fabulous, loos and showers clean and functioning perfectly, laundry is well equipped. Camp kitchen is huge, well equipped, totally walled-windowed and adjoining TV room has huge screen and comfy sofas. We could've stayed for a week if we'd had the time. Plus free BBQs. Brand new kid's playground is behind the tennis court, pool at the front wasn't getting a lot of use in the teeming rain but looked nice. In the area, the pub next door is pretty nice, right on the water front (hence the name Waterfront Hotel). Nissan dealership in the area are very good if you need your Nissan serviced - they're also the Kia people. Town has all the regular services and a few cute shops to potter around in, and the local zone has some good coastal sightseeing when the weather allows. $25 2A, peak season.

First time I stayed here, actually stuffed up on the booking turned up a week early then I should of, but the park management were most helpful and found me a site, in peak times to! Thanks guys. The park has good amenities, flush toilets, showers $1 for hot water, electric BBQs free, laundry, has powered sites. I camped on an unpowered $10 day per adult, $5 for children, powered a few dollars more. Access for caravans. Take your own drinking water, camping area has about 60 sites and gets busy around peak times. Booking needed. Has a couple of cabins, bookings essential. Camp looks down over Pretty Beach, was great for swimming, some good fishing around off the rocks, bush walking trails and heaps of wildlife. As part of NPs all there rules apply, no fires on the ground, etc. Now one of my favourite places on the S coast to camp. Very friendly staff. Peaceful, family/friendly atmosphere. This park rates very highly as an oceanfront location without being ripped off with the exorbitant prices some operators are asking nearby. It's a few kms S of the town but is right on the beach with excellent beach & estuary fishing within walking distance. The park is set back from the road & noise is minimal, there are quite a few permanents but they are separated from the tourist areas. The one point to bear in mind is that this location is hugely popular at long weekends & school holidays with the Canberra crowd so the park is full to bursting with young families & hordes of ankle biters. This is a large family-oriented park with excellent facilities. There are 400 sites in all, some with concrete slabs, some with TV connections. Sites at the northern end of the park are a bit more 'bushy' but still pleasant. Direct access to a beautiful beach. The park has a great swimming pool area with heated indoor pool, spa, outside pool and toddlers pool. Excellent camp kitchen with separate adults only lounge. There are two toilet blocks with good showers and large cubicles. Games room and television room. En-suite sites have toilet/shower facilities plus large storage area for bikes, surf boards etc and double concrete block for caravan and annex. Entertainment program with emphasis on children's activities during school holidays. Jumping castle and mini-golf. Morning tea once a week plus movies plus craft activities for the grown-ups. Restaurant on site which was open for lunch Saturday and Sunday, and open for dinner several nights. Take-away food available from the shop which sells most basic needs. A staff member showed us to our site and helped us put the van on site, and explained the facilities. In February, the park was about half-full so no difficulty in finding a site to suit our needs. We paid $232 for a week including one night free and BIG4 discount. Recommend the walk along the cliffs to Pambula River.
Date 02/2010. Park Rating 5: we would have difficulty in finding any faults.

Manager's name is Neil and Robyn Fallshaw. This unusual park is within the Eurobodalla National Park, and is not connected to electricity grid. There are no powered sites or taps at sites. Formerly a very basic campground, in recent years it has had a major overhaul in the hands of current owners. This included extensive solar power (backed up by generators when needed), elaborate waste disposal system, and extensive rain water storage. The cabins and amenities block are mostly new and immaculate. This park really is right on the beach, has a magnificent outlook and very nicely kept. Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($30.00 2A per night, unpowered, shoulder season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is very good. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, drive-through sites. Basic laundry, no rec room, camp kitchen, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 2). Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, no permanents. Clean UC gas bbq, congenial bbq area atmosphere, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for few days, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Outstanding location on beach, open and roomy area.
Dislikes: No power, water or sullage to sites, and not cheap. This is the price we pay for being very "green", no problem if self-contained. Has won award for Environmental Innovation.
Parking: Plenty of room
Added Touches: Cafe open some weekends and holidays - see website.
Roads: Roads in area good, last 1.8 km reasonable dirt road.

This is a terrific small caravan park for families. Not overcrowded and plenty to keep the kids occupied and amused. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($70 2A 2C per night, ensuite, peak season, includes chain discount). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is very good. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, shade to some sites, ensuite sites available, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point, secure entry, van parking, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Clean heated pool, tables and chairs provided, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families.
Likes: Great football field sized area with concrete walkway all around area includes jumping pillow, basketball hoop and goat feeding area. A noise complaint was dealt with quickly and efficiently.
Dislikes: Nothing really at all to dislike except that some of the annex slabs were a little lower than the surrounding area and tended to attract water in the rain. Small issue though.
Parking: Waiting bay close to entry
Local Information: Meals at both nearby Club and Hotel were of very good quality and reasonably priced.

The full title of this park contains the term Mobile Home Village and other parks along the same road refer to themselves as 'Manufactured Home Village' as many retired people live permanently on these sites. This is not meant to discourage caravanners from stopping in this excellent park. There are 16 ensuite sites, half of them drive thru, situated along a pretty creek with concrete slabs, lawns, trees, gardens and birdlife. Creek-side en-suite sites are $35 less discount for Top Tourist members (drive thru are a little more). The whole park is spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Facilities are all excellent, 22m pool, large and well equipped camp kitchen, tennis court, mini golf, etc. You can nominate your own password for the security gate. It is in the shadow of the 'mountain' and this impacted our TV reception but Optus wireless signal was fine. The bowling club down the road has an extensive and reasonably priced menu. It is 1.5 kms to the beach and the town has a pub and a few shops.

79 Island Point Rd. Cabins only park - does not cater for caravans/motorhomes. Ph: 02 4443 4211. No pets allowed.

We rang to enquire if they had powered sites and were told yes, to arrive to find that the powered site we were offered was in fact lake frontage land accessible via the boat ramp access that was adjacent to a public park at the rear of the caravan park which had onsite/permanent vans crammed into every square inch of space. We paid top dollar for off peak for an appalling amenities block that is probably never used by any of the permanents. The men's showers (some of which had taps and roses missing had only curtained shower cubicles of the main area with no separate drying and change cubicles. The women's showers required a coin payment for water. We ended up using the public toilets in the park next door as they were closer and we couldn't bring ourselves to use the showers. We did however make the mistake of using the washing machines which had no hot water available and put more dirty marks on the washing than they had before they were washed and it has since taken three subsequent washes to remove all the stains. We did manage to hook up to power and water which we were told was storm water (which was concerning). We would not return to this park under any circumstances. Friendly staff, average staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was much higher than expected, poor value for money ($30 2A per night, off-peak season). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, extra charge for shower. Inadequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, no sites with concrete annex slabs, no sites are shaded, hard to negotiate into site. Poor laundry, no rec room, claustrophobic park, not enough shade, too many permanents. No bbqs, no playground, no pool.

Sussex Road, 2kms S of PO. Ph: 02 4441 2333. Pets allowed.

We stayed here at the end of the school holidays after Easter, and reading previous reports we expected a good park. However, we thought the report described a different park. Of the 96 sites, about 8 are available for tourists - the rest are cabins or many established on-site vans, some of which appear to be used almost permanently, but many appear to be used during holidays by owners. This seems common for most caravan parks in the region - it is like the caravan graveyards. The amenities blocks are old and need maintenance, although they were clean. A key is required ($10 deposit) for the amenities, and the toilets are separate from the shower blocks - a bit of a pain when husband and wife both want to use the facilities at the same time. Also, I don't like the idea of separate toilets and showers as it can encourage people to bypass the toilet and go straight to the showers. The toilet blocks only had a single 'half-sized' hand basin with cold water only, no soap and no paper towels or dryer. There were hand basins in the shower blocks, but again no soap or towel/dryer. My shower temperature varied constantly, and the shower heads direct a jet of water towards the change area (no curtains), rather than having a shower rose dropping water over the user. The washing machines in the laundry were cheap ($2), but old and sounded like they were on their last legs. Most (7) of the tourist sites were some distance from the amenities, and 5 of those were very boggy following almost a week of rain. We paid $35 per night 2A, school holidays for a site between permanent vans - we had power and water, but no sullage. We thought this to be very poor value considering the conditions. No pool, no rec room, no playground. Good points: friendly staff, near new BBQ ($1), next to the water, 4 good cabins on the waterfront. We would not recommend this park for a touring caravanner. I walked through the adjacent Sussex Palms Holiday Park which looked better - it was generally neater, but they only have 5 tourist sites among the many cabins and established on-site vans. Their amenities were better, but you have to pay extra for the shower (20c at a time).

Manager's name is Kerrie. This is a small park in a fabulous position overlooking the Tuross Lake and the ocean just below One Tree Point. There are limited caravan sites right opposite the lake with ocean and lake views (about 8) and additional sites in the main section of the park. There is a significant number of well positioned cabins, but a number of these are built on stilts and thus are situated behind the caravan sites with a view and thus do not impede their view value at all. This is a pleasant change from normal given the significant number of cabins being built in the prime positions elsewhere in the country. There is only one amenities block that is clean and tidy and situated in the main body of the site. Those sites with the great views have a bit of a walk to get there, but it's worth the extra effort. The managers are excellent and very accommodating. Tuross Head is spectacular and well worth a visit. Shopping is basic and expensive, so stock up well before you visit. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($30 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, no sites with concrete annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, hard to negotiate into site. Basic laundry, no rec room, dump point, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. No playground. Clean bbq, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: Terrific position with excellent opportunities to explore the beach.
Dislikes: A bit tight for room and the amenities where somewhat distant from our great site.
Parking: Not great for parking a large van whilst booking, however, this can be overcome.

Cost $28 2A powered. This is a very good park with excellent facilities including 2 indoor spas, sauna, large saltwater pool, squash courts, tennis courts and undercover BBQ areas with free gas BBQs. The amenities are new self-contained rooms each with their own shower, toilet, sink and heater. Everything is very clean and well maintained. Just a short drive (2 mins) drive or long walk (10 mins) to the beach which also allows dogs. At 2 kms S of the city centre, you will need to drive in as the road is hilly. The only minor downsides of this park are that it has poor mobile phone coverage and on the edge of the industrial area. That said, we thought the facilities more than made up for this. We would certainly come back again. Don't miss the nearby pie shop and a good RV repair workshop is just around the corner.
