Local Information: There is a good surf beach at the front of the park patrolled on most days by Lifeguards.

Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites, ensuite sites available, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, basic camp kitchen, kiosk, car wash, dump point, secure entry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Optus). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in good condition. Clean pool, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Sites were double slab with a concrete driveway from the road to the slab.
Parking: No allocated parking when checking in. Just stop anywhere out of the way.

We stayed on special NRMA members deal, pay 4 nights, stay 7. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Excellent value for money ($160.00 2A per week, ensuite, off-peak season). Ensuite was clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, concrete annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites. Basic laundry, good rec room, car wash, dump point, secure entry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Vodaphone, reception quality was 3). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Clean UC bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in good condition. Clean pool, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: Lots of mature native trees. Very large sites - many with double concrete pads. Closeness to beach. One of the best parks we have ever been to. It will be hard to find one that measures up to it. Friendliness of people camping here (Note: Off peak season)
Dislikes: Vision at entrance to park from the road obstructed by trees and bushes. Hard to see oncoming traffic. No designated parking area for car\caravan while waiting to check in.
Parking: No, parking randomly where ever you can.

This park has all the bells and whistles and prices to match. Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Poor value for money ($38.80 2A, powered, peak season). We paid $32.98 because of National Seniors Card discount of 15%. Inadequate number of amenities, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to most sites, shade to some sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point, secure entry, book swap available, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 3). Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, too many permanents. Clean UC gas bbq, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. Likes: The park is close to the beach and there is lots of tame wildlife to see.
Dislikes: Site access roads are narrow making it harder to manoeuvre.
Local Information: This park is a short stroll to a very large beach. It is close to the towns of Arrawarra and Woolgoolga and the city of Coffs Harbour. There is plenty to see and do in the local area.

Local Information: Woolgoolga is a pretty spot great shopping almost village feel, good value meals at RSL, whale watching from the headland awesome.

Our stay this time was a bit disappointing. The park which is very pet friendly isn't making some guests pick up after their dogs and also lets them off leash which can be a bit daunting with large dogs at times. Our site and our friends both had droppings that were left by previous people. Camp kitchen wasn't as clean as before and neither were the men's amenities. Disappointing that management are not checking these areas frequently during the day or evening and the park was virtually empty. I think the price has a lot to do with that. For a grass site it's too costly. Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints Poor value for money ($34.00 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, very few annex slabs, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, poor water quality, adequate taps close by. Dislikes: A disappointing visit that will make us delay a return visit.

No longer Family Parks member. Manager's name is Cameron and Donna. The park is far better than a previous report states. The water to each site is treated rainwater, and in the showers and toilets it is treated bore water. All powered sites have the treated rainwater. Power poles tend to be at the front of each block and some of the blocks like the one we had was huge so yes you may need a longer power cord or the office offer them if you don't have one. The Wilderness area is the space the previous report mentions and it is great if you want an almost freecamping kind of set up. Quiet spacious and all grass sites with some trees, so duck if you walk in the dark. We were booked in by the relief managers Graham and wife Kim. What a terrific couple they were. Unfortunately they are moving on this month but will be back at Easter. The park is now managed by the new owners nephew and his partner who were having a few days off when we stayed. I have to mention the cafe. They have great food so definitely book or you may miss out on a table at weekends. They also have singers on Saturdays and when we left the Sunday band was about to start. All low key and very enjoyable. The park offers a long stay policy so if you book for the weekend you don't have to vacate until 2pm on the Sunday afternoon. They had a chap called Brett come and give everyone a Snake and Reptile awareness display, he was fantastic and very useful hints as well if bush travelling. We will be making this one of our weekend escapes from the Gold Coast on a regular basis. This park is an ECO style park built on a sandy peninsular with no town water so they "request" you conserve water in various ways in the amenities but nothing more than good commonsense things anyway. They have their own treatment plant for producing treated water onsite. The amenities were very clean when we were there and the leaky toilet cistern has been replaced. Ferry charge is currently $4.20 a car and additional $4.20 a caravan or trailer. To go to Ballina from this park or the Seabreeze by road is 33 kms each way. To go by ferry it is 10 kms each way plus the ferry charge. This park was described as a "Wilderness Area" but I could not help but take it as a way of covering up some inadequacies such as dirty floors in toilets, unlevel sites, trees that needed pruning for safety and reducing risk of damage to vans etc. It is explained that drinking water taps are filtered rain water and washing taps are treated bore water. Notices above the buttons in one of the male toilet blocks states that the flush buttons regularly stick and waste water and if management find this continuing to happen they will close the toilet block. I felt like I was back in school. Maybe replacing the cisterns would be more practical. A power head 20m away, a drinking water tap at the back of a cabin, a washing water tap under a fire hose and a grate in the grass, which I hope was for sullage, was all a bit of a mess. This was on the site I occupied. There was no defined sites for grass sites, vans were parked haphazardly. If you need access to the shops, clubs etc. then it will be cheaper to stay in Ballina proper especially with the travel costs. This is basically a nice park but with a tariff at the top of the scale for off season ($34 although web site suggested $27) one expects more from the amenities, BBQs, quality of sites etc. Friendly staff. Likes: Cafe with a covered decking. Coffee, snacks and breakfast all day Sunday. Good kiosk offset large distance to shops. Walk to magnificent ocean beach. Excellent outback style camp kitchen. Excellent pool area. Numerous rubbish bin sites throughout park.
Dislikes: Unlevel sites. Cleanliness of amenities varied. Drinking water and washing water come from different taps around site area. Badly broken site slab and unsafe limbs on gumtree were safety issues. Concrete slabs flooded after rain. Almost 20 m from my site to power-head.
Parking: Ample room to park whilst checking in.

Nice park a bit out of Ballina, but a big park, The girls who do the cleaning are extremely friendly. Need to be careful - I walked down to the South Wall with my dogs, and some inconsiderate person had thrown broken glass, or something in the grass and it cut my dogs paw, thankfully not badly but still enough to make it bleed and sore for a few days. It is a narrow road down, so tried not to walk on the road in future I think I will just give it a miss or walk on the road. Friendly staff. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($22.05 1A per night, powered, shoulder season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, water pressure is good, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to most sites, drive-through sites. Likes: It is a nice location and a big park, with nice surroundings, well looked after.
Dislikes: Bit far out from Ballina itself, but nice for an overnight stop and looked better than some of the other dog friendly parks in Ballina

This is a very good park. New amenity facilities, lovely shower with plenty of hot water. Sites can be a bit tight for larger rigs and you want to put your awning up. Sealed roads, Grassed sites with quite a few with concrete slabs in good condition. A big park with lots of permanents but well maintained and planned. Lots of things for the kids with a well lit pool, gym, putt-putt, etc. Need a key for amenity block but only one key provided. Spotlessly clean. Need a key for the laundry after 8.30pm. At just over $23 a night after the discount represented very good value for the facility. Efficient staff, not overly friendly but a professional welcome. Security gate needs pin number in and out. Parking for one van at reception, just inside the park. Worth a week or two if you are able. We would stay again.
Likes: Well planned, well maintained, lovely clean and new amenities.
Dislikes: Sites very close and can be tight to negotiate.

Stayed 7 nights, $186 p/w, Top Tourist discount. They gave us seven nights for six. Our site No. 138 was on the lake and the per night cost for our site would otherwise have been $39.00 per night.. Pets at discretion of Manager. Very friendly and helpful staff. I needed to send a fax and this was done with a smile. Security key entry, and another key for the amenities. Permanents housed separately. I loved to take my walks through the permanents' area and look at their beautiful neat gardens. Lovely walks along the lake and towards the lighthouse and rockwall. Lots of beautiful cabins of various sizes. This is a very large spotless park with park staff continually working in the park, planting palms, cleaning, etc. This park has a pool, playground, putt-putt golf course, jumping pillow, gym, games kids room, dump point, two amenity areas and an extra laundry near the office. Washing machines/dryers $3 per wash. Lots of drying lines. Three rubbish dumpsters are placed near the amenity areas and excellent spotless under cover camp kitchen. Good size sites, ours was very large, level on a concrete slab, also drive through sites. We had an excellent meal at the Australia Hotel ($10 lunches) and the RSL Club. This park had absolutely everything we wanted and more. We could not fault it and would stay again for any length of time.

Manager's name is Bart and Tina. This is a small park with a few permanents, however for medical reasons I have had to stay here for 6 months and find there is not one permanent in the park that I would not want to call a friend. The general atmosphere is very pleasant and it's no problem for either Bart or Tina to assist with any problems you have. The fee is $19.50 a night for a powered site, but they have a stay 7 pay 6 deal, which makes it possibly the cheapest park on the N coast of NSW. Its location is 10 mins to Evans Head, 20 mins to Ballina and 30 mins to Lismore or Casino and 50 mins to Byron Bay. I will definitely stay here again when in this area. We were very impressed with this park as it is very neat and tidy & right on the beach. Amenities are very clean and the staff are very welcome, we received a 10% discount with our National Seniors Card and paid $22 a night which we felt was extremely reasonable. It's across the road from the Bowls Club where the meals are reasonable too. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice. A lot of permanents and cabins, a nice spot on the river if you could see it as most tourist sites could not. Free wireless internet was available but the signal was so weak it was useless, so Telstra at 5 was ok. Poor value at $30.00 for 2A powered site, and we were told that if we stayed Friday, Saturday or Sunday it would be $32. Did like the fact that the manager called us after we had left to say we had left a dog bed behind, but as it happened it was not ours, the thought was there. The park was clean and tidy.

Whilst we have not stayed at the Ferry Reserve caravan park we made the effort to inspect it when were in Brunswick Heads. The Ferry Reserve is a little further out of town than the other parks and it appeared to be quite good with level sites with a choice of grass or slab and, like the other two parks, it too has a river frontage.

Pleasant park on the riverside at Brunswick Heads. Staff are friendly and helpful. Amenities are clean. Sites are large and mostly grassed. High proportion of permanents and annuals. With FPA discount reasonable value for money. Suitable for any length of stay. A major negative is that the park is beside the Pacific Hwy with subsequent road noise, particularly trucks, throughout the day and night. We only stayed overnight here, so a bit hard for us to rate it. Although the sites are generally quite small, the manager kindly allocated us 2 sites together so we could stay hitched up. The park is right on the river, so good for fisherfolk, but it also means that there is a public path around the outside, with no fence, which makes it quite insecure. Park is a fairly short walk to town centre. We were next to a small amenities block, 2 loos and showers and 1 hand-basin, the showers were tiny with no chance of keeping anything dry, there was no mop so the floor was dirty as well as wet. The main amenities block looked slightly better, but only just, with a 'dry area' that had the floor sloping outwards so any splashes would run right through. Park would be very cramped when full, several 'roads' marked on park map didn't really exist, some sites would be near impossible to get in and out of. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. $32 2A per night, powered. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Was booked in to Massey Greene CP but after seeing it and where they wanted to put us we moved on to the Terrace. This is a beautiful park and although it has a number of annual sites, all are very neat and well cared for. There is plenty of shade and the amenities are close and very clean. There is a dump point centrally located. Some great camping areas at back of park all along the river. The whole park is on the river and in the township. Literally across the road and you are at the shops and restaurants. Management at park are new and very friendly and helpful. The pub is around the corner with a huge and beautiful beer garden and the Italian restaurant across the road from the park is excellent. Overall an excellent park, we will definitely be back.

The sites are small and could be quite difficult to negotiate during times when the park has many vans. Having to pay extra ($7) to be closer to the water (not a beach, simply a tidal creek) is a rip off. As mentioned, there are a lot of permanents in this park including some pretty ordinary looking things which tend to bring the park down, it is after all, listed as a 'Holiday Park'. Tent campers are well provided for with a good camp kitchen and basic rec room although located right at the bottom end of the park, beyond the permanents. On the positive side, we found the park maintenance, i.e. grass mowing and amenities cleaning to be up to standard. If we visit Brunswick Heads again we will be unlikely to stay here, a quick drive around this town will find another close-by caravan park that appeared to be right on the water's edge and to have better sites. Average staff friendliness. Poor value for money ($35 2A, powered, off-peak season). Chose this park at the last minute as the other one was next to the Pacific Hwy which put me off. Maybe not the best choice as this park was cramped with small sites and narrow roads which made it hard to get a 20 footer in. If someone had been on the site opposite I would have not made it. I asked for another site as my van was 60cm into the site at the back but they declined and said that was OK. Old park from when 16ft. was a big van. There were some slightly deeper sites on the river but that was an extra $7.00 per day and I felt the $37.00 was way over the top without that. Big park but most are permanents. Some real dumpy old vans. Washing machines and dryers were stacked on top of each other in the laundry and it was very easy to put the $4.00 in the wrong one. Sign says "no refunds given" so obviously people do it. Management were quite off handed about it and stuck to their rules. The grounds were in poor and untidy condition with well worn sites. Signs were posted that stated if you were not out of the park by 10.00am then the exit code would be cancelled and you would be charged a late fee. One could suggest they are not looking for return business. Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints Poor value for money ($37.00 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). Only stayed here because we needed a dog friendly park in Byron Bay. The park is in a poor run-down condition. Obviously being prepared for redevelopment once Council permits that. It is a very large place - 60 acres and used for music festivals and the like. This is its probable best use. Toilets and showers are of a low standard, missing toilet seats, tiles etc. Taps leaking. But does have a lot of hot water. Friendly staff, average staff response to complaints. Price was higher than expected, poor value for money ($34 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were dirty, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. This park, on the eastern side of the Pacific Highway near the centre of town, comprises two sections - pets and no pets - separated by a fence and a gate that is shut at night (although patrons will be given a key to access both parts, if they wish). Vehicles can access both parts during the day, but only pedestrians with a key can move between both sections after 7.00pm. Security is very good. The no-pet section is a traditional caravan park setting. The pets section is adjacent to the showground and is a grassed area without concrete slabs. The facilities (each section has its own amenities block) are excellent and are accessed by means of a push-button code advised on check-in. They are kept very clean and tidy and were adequate for the guests in a relatively quiet period. The park management is very friendly and helpful, providing advice on local attractions and services. Value for money is very good. We were given a 10% discount on the nightly $27 2A as members of the CMCA. Sites in the pets area, where we stayed, are large and easy to access. The main drawback is noise from the heavy traffic on the Pacific Highway, but this reduces somewhat at night. Permanent residents do not dominate the park. Highly recommended for a stay of a few days to a week or more, as a central base from which to explore the region.

Stayed 4 nights, $31.50 per night, Top Tourist discount. Twenty dollars refundable deposit for amenities key. We paid for three nights and got four nights at $22.50 per night. Excellent value for an excellent, large spotless park. We were allocated a concrete slab site No. 61 near one of the amenities blocks. Staff were working throughout the park planting trees, cutting grass and also painting a mural in the children's playground. I had excellent reception on Telstra broadband at our site. The free bbq breakfast this morning was great - what a lovely touch. What more can we add We totally agree with all the comments made by Robmarang and the Neilsons, so won't repeat them. This is a top-notch park and we would definitely stay here again, but for longer. Excellent value.

I found the easiest way from the highway was via Park Beach Road which is at the lights opposite the Homebase Shopping Centre on the N side of town. If coming from Orlando Ave there is a tricky left turn onto Ocean Pde. which can catch you unaware. It is a sharp turn which dives down under what at first appears to be a very low rail bridge. Then the actual entry is not really on Ocean Pde. but off Fitzgerald St. which is on a bend on the left hand side. Park is opposite the surf beach in a quite area. The park is very large with a lot of permanent and long term residents but they are well away from the tourist area. It is very open and appears uncrowded even when there is a lot of vans there. The pool area is excellent, the camp kitchen is excellent, the kiosk in the reception is large and well stocked. The tariff for off-peak was; stay for 4, pay for 3 nights - which made it brilliant value i.e $22.50 a night. This is an excellent park. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice. Good value for money ($30.00 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). This is a lovely park and is very well run. There are lots of accurate descriptions of the park already on this site so will only mention new information: The family bathroom is on the beach side of the park and not really feasible to use if you are on the N side. There are no facilities for men to bath babies on the N side. The ladies bathrooms do have sinks big enough to bathe a baby but not the mens. Staff did not volunteer a key for the family bathroom when we checked in despite having an infant and toddler. A key code had recently been installed on the N amenities block. For this reason we were not given a key. This meant we could not access the gate to the beach. We were not told about this in advance and only discovered when we got to the gate with all our beach stuff and kids in tow unable to access. When we asked for a key we were told we were unable to have one and would have to walk all the way out of the park and around and that this was the same distance. This is actually a much further distance. Staff were unresponsive and said we needed to wait until management returned 4 days later. This was an issue for other guests too. When management did return they did allow us to pay the key deposit and access a key. The key codes installed on N amenity block are difficult to use - especially if you have a baby on your hip, an umbrella and a bag with all the bath equipment. Kids (even of about 10) couldn't manage the locks (very fiddly) and often needed to be let in. Kiosk at park is great, very helpful, offers EFTPOS with no minimum and no issues with change for laundry. Washing machines $3, dryers $2 for an hour. One dryer broke while we were there (in the middle of heavy rain) and was fixed next day. Lots of shade, small blocks. We had a number of very noisy neighbours during our 9 days at the park and twice called security who were very responsive. The SUFM program run over Christmas/New Year at nearby Park Beach was great - our older children went to morning activities and some evening activities and thoroughly enjoyed their time.

The sites are all sloping and it is quite tight to get into the sites and even drive on some of the roads in the park. The ensuites are great and in a good position. Needs more control by management as we found that dogs were allowed to bark continually when owners were away and also dogs on leash all the time was not enforced. However when mentioned the managers apologised as they had been away quite a bit during the quite times. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints. Manager's name is Anne & Rob Simpson. Half way between Coffs Harbour and Grafton signposted from Pacific Hwy. New managers took over July 2008. This is our second visit to this park and again we are impressed with the neat and tidy park presentation, as well as excellent managers and staff. Managers Anne and Rob go out of their way to make sure everybody enjoys their stay and will often have a film night for the kids, karaoke nights with Bill White when he is staying there (you'll laugh!), a music night called Bards and Ballards (camping musicians can "jam") and the get together Nibbles on the Headland. Theme days for Easter, Christmas, Australia Day etc. and even a Melbourne Cup sweep. If you want to get involved, and help, you are welcomed! We have enjoyed ourselves again and will return. Likes: This is a well maintained park with very pleasant managers and staff. Berry pickers in the season coming from all parts of the world as well as Aussies. Everybody is pleasant and gets along just fine which is probably due to the "social" activities that managers Anne and Rob organize, allowing us to mingle with the other guests in a fun and low key manner.
Added Touches: Free sausage sizzle but most guests donate into the collection container for the local fire brigade. Some kids activities at holiday times. Pick up bus to local pub. Fish cleaning table.
Local Information: Easy reach of Coffs Harbour, all local tourist areas and attractions. Heaps of local markets. Take away meals and pizza from local pub just mins drive away. Post Office and milk bar / take away food. Self guide walking tour. Plenty of local fishing spots.

Likes: Great position. Front part is beachfront with 6 hole golf course attached. Beautiful outlook. Back section is along a clear water creek which leads to the beach. Great for families.
Dislikes: Sites can be prone to flooding in heavy rain. Duckboards are available for hire for annexe floor. There is a car park adjacent to the front section which can get busy at times. Night lighting was not switched on. The last section of road into the park is quite rough.
Parking: Parking is available in adjacent car park but is not well sign posted.

This is a very large nice park. Sites are a bit worn but grass is cut and is neat and tidy. All of the on-site vans which looked worse for wear have been painted cream which has helped the neatness of the park. It has three exits. One to the Bowling Club, one to the shops and one to the beach. Nice area - nice place to stay. Unfortunately this is yet another park along the coast in this area which is charging similar prices and these are excessive when comparing the facilities that they offer with other parks. Manager's name is Wayne & Narelle Mcgregor We found this holiday park via word of mouth and were very impressed. Good size level beach sites, concrete slabs, and good access. Amenities block is well maintained, bright and clean, pressure good & plenty of hot water. Park is right on the beach which is ideal for fishing, body surfing, board riding and swimming. Kiosk/general store at entrance. Very quiet and extremely peaceful. We pulled in out of school holidays and were surprised at how relaxed it was. Even during the first week of school holidays whilst the park filled up quickly there was still no feeling of being crowded in. Wayne and Narelle were just great and extremely accommodating, friendly and helpful. This is a Council operated park so there is no discount and at $32 per night for powered site on the beach we were more than happy to pay. Good value for money and child friendly. Close to Kingscliff and Tweed South for shopping. Ideal for short or long stay and will be only too happy to return. Very popular on weekends. Cabins also available. Ideal for families or grey nomads. This is one of those exceptional parks. The camp kitchen is like home, the facilities are top notch, the amenities are spotless, the grounds are better than the botanical gardens, the sites are large, 50% are big slabs, there are drive-thrus & sites for RVs. The owner employs 3 gardeners winning awards for the park every year & if you visit in season the scene is unbelievably beautiful with the jacarandas in full bloom & his gardens as well. You would call this one of the great parks in Australia. The only downside is the paranoid behaviour of the owner & his obsession with keeping the place immaculate. He is cruising in his buggy day & night (don't walk on the grass) don't do this, don't do that attitude; there are signs like a forest everywhere, do this, do that, we're watching you on CCTV; not one bin for rubbish in each location but 4 colour coded for different types of waste, I've never seen so many signs. One other point is not to let them put you on a site by the southern side (city side) it is a TV dead spot & unless you have sat TV you won't have TV at all. Notwithstanding, it's a great park to visit in a great city & far better than those parks at Iluka, Yamba, or Palmer island. Managed by D.E.E.W.C. This is a campground in a NP. There is a common toilet but no showers. There are barbecue facilities. You may have trouble finding a level area if you have a van or a motorhome. Sites are grassed. There is no power. Location is very quiet and peaceful. The road in is dirt and the National Parks section of the road is narrow but relatively smooth. Because it's on the top of the plateau they don't get washaways. Fees are paid by an honesty system and you get your ticket from the box provided. Friendly staff. Good value for money ($5 2A per night). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites. Clean wood bbq (free).
Likes: The views on Lucifers Thumb Walk are exceptional. There is a lovely array of birdlife to be found in the park
Dislikes: Non-level sites

Local Information: Bushwalking and nature is what you come here for. Excellent and easy walks.

They caused havoc in the showers by leaving the showers running and climbing over the door. I suggested to the office they should look at coin operated showers as the waste of water and power was uncalled for

Local Information: A must do is a trip back into Smithtown to the Riverside Pub for a feed. It is the best pub feed I have had in all my travels across Australia. An excellent, very clean and tidy well managed park and we would stay here again.

A good basic 1 nighter. Park is mostly cabins and on-site vans, with some drive through sites, which are very close to the highway, with other sites further back. The amenities look like they have had some recent renovations and are very clean. The showers have curtains and a drying area. Hand towels and wash basin is provided. The swimming pools are clean and fenced safely. The grounds are quite nicely landscaped and improvements are happening. Surprisingly, overnight traffic noise was not as bad as first feared, but the trucks were on the move by 6:00am.

The only reason I didn't give this park a rating of 5 is due to the location. It is directly under the flight path of the air traffic into Coolangatta/Gold Coast Airport. Arrivals and departures begin every morning approx 6.30 with at least 4 flights in and out each hour until 11pm. Unfortunately the park is also located next to the Pacific Highway and the traffic is continual. But, if that is not a concern then this is an exceptionally well maintained park that has 50 van sites all with concrete slabs surrounded by grass and well kept gardens with well placed palms and shrubs providing shade. There are 8 ensuites sites. There is an area for camping and larger rigs that is grassed and powered, and a well equipped camp kitchen nearby. An overflow area abuts the camping area and is the size of an oval, it is grassed and has approx 16 power outlets. There is plenty of room for non-powered camping among the trees. The park also includes cabins and about 30-40 permanent residences, which are not all occupied (quite a few are for sale). The entrance to the park is excellent and very inviting, easy parking with van. The staff are very friendly, they show you to the site and help with site parking. There are three amenities blocks, each has a laundry. These are the most modern, cleanest amenities we have ever seen. Cleaning is done from 6.30am to 7.10am and it is great to have a morning shower etc in sparkling clean surroundings. The amenities are close to all sites with the exception of 8 van sites that are near the ensuite sites. The ensuites are spotless with white modern fittings and fixtures. There is a beautiful swimming pool set among palm trees etc. unfortunately it is not heated. The BBQ areas are spotless with good seating and lighting, bbqs are free. There is a small fenced playground for children. The roads within the park are all bitumen. We stayed 17 nights and after discounts for Top Tourist membership and for length of stay we paid $25.40 2A per night. Excellent value. Lots of good eateries at Kingscliff. Woolworths. The Kingscliff Bowls Club does a great buffet breakfast Sundays and then Barefoot Bowls is a fun way to spend a few hours. The beach is 800m from park and the shopping precinct is about another 1.5 kms along the foreshore. Forget the jets, trucks and cars, this is a lovely park.

We are new managers, began in August 2008. We have begun to work on improvements in the park. So far we have rendered the amenities blocks so they look a lot nicer, the old office and managers residence has been removed and the new office and kiosk has been build. New entrance and boom gates. We have tidied up around the park, pruning the trees, and filling the holes and establishing new turf. Four new Deluxe Villas have been installed which suit larger families or those who would like more space. The Basic and Ensuite Cabins have been renovated, and now have air conditioning, and all beds are now made. There is new slab parks next to the ensuites cabins. We became a BIG4 Park in April 09. Put a camp kitchen with a TV into the laundry of Block 4.

This is a truly lovely park with a great local atmosphere and only 10 kms to Coffs Harbour if you want to do major shopping however there is a good Coles store in Moonee Beach. The sites are lovely, some with shade and others without so the choice is yours. The people on reception and who are working the park were very helpful from the moment we checked in to the time we left. We actually extended our stay to take in the relaxed atmosphere, the beach and the local area. There are some terrific walks out to the headland from the park and both the park and the walking tracks plus the beach are do friendly. We also saw a number of whales. The amenities are great and the reception for Telstra was perfect. We will be going back again but this time we will stay a lot longer than a week.

Manager's name is Dean & Lauree. This is one of our favorite spots in Oz! 12km N of Coffs Harbour, about 1km off the Pacific Hwy. Has shopping centre, vet and PO. Fronts a tidal lagoon that has sandy bottom when tide is out. Beach close across lagoon. Dogs welcome even in holiday times. Lots of good walking, safe swimming and good fishing. Friendly & helpful staff, good staff response to complaints. Price was as expected. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people in off peak and shoulder season but this park is not for those who dislike crowds in holiday periods. Amenities are close to only some sites but there is a park maintained public toilet behind tennis court. Ammenities are cleaned regularly, condition is good, water pressure is good, there is adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Some slabs are above level of surrounding ground and very small for today's bigger rigs but grassed sites are more spacious. Good night lighting. Good laundry, lovely camp kitchen. Clean UC bbq (free). No pool. Suitable for weeks on end. Well maintained gardens and lawns. Great park for long stay in off holiday season. Sites hard to access in peak periods and some are flooded in rainy season

Likes: Next to a river. Golf course right next to grounds. Plenty of space for dogs for exercising. Relaxed. Caretaker extremely friendly.
Dislikes: Amenities in very poor condition, not clean at all. Showers are divided only by shower curtains in ladies. Amenities too far away from most sites. Water and electricity are situated on the outer edge of the playing field so have to jump over the approx 1 m fence and there is a ditch to go over to connect the water and electricity. A lot of rain has fallen, so consequently you are ankle deep in water and mud.
Parking: Parking on the road into the grounds near the caretaker's residence.
Roads: plenty of potholes due to the rain that has recently fallen.

If you have pets you must stay in the front section of the park. There are two separate areas, one with slabs for those who want slabs and this area is also for people with dogs. There is an amenity block and laundry near these sites. The other area is called the wilderness area and the first section is powered and further up the road it is unpowered. There are large grassy sites, with water and power. No night lighting except at the amenity block. Sheltered from winds by large trees, beautiful views and surrounding area. Could get muddy in times of heavy rain. New managers have recently taken over. Some work needed on the power connections in the wilderness area. Well maintained grounds with level grassed sites but very little shade in the centre. Very quiet park but with a lot of bird life. The amenities block needs to have some work done on the taps in the showers and hand basins as nearly all were leaking. Fishing seemed to be good as many good size fish had been caught whilst we were there. The park is not fenced and there are many sites adjacent to the road so security could be a problem on these sites. Very basic camp kitchen with tables and seating, laundry has 6 washing machines and plenty of lines. Local bowling club has excellent Chinese meals at a reasonable price. Beach is long and very clean sand. Certainly good for a week or more. Family Parks member discounts and also seniors discounts. Quoted $132 for the week on a powered site out of peak season. Good value.

This is probably one of the cleanest and well kept parks we have visited. The management went out of their way to ensure that services were being kept up to date. Digital TV was not very good when we arrived but a day later a new retransmitter was installed at the office and all channels became available. Two days later a new digital antenna was installed for the retransmitter and all channels were perfect. The TV service bloke came around to ensure TVs were tuned to new channels. Then the manager came around asking if everyone was happy with the new TV setup. Haven't seen anything like it before. There are a lot of permanents here but that doesn't detract from the tourist sites because all tourist sites are grouped together. We paid $189 because of Top Tourist discount. Dislikes: This is a very dog friendly park and many occupants had dogs. If you don't like being woken at night by dogs barking then this is not the place for you. As with a lot of the parks on the NSW coast, it is open to anyone walking through and theft is a problem. Ensure that you secure your belongings, even in annex.
Parking: Inside park boom gates, just push buzzer button for entry.

Dislikes: Staff changed our sites we had pre booked and payed for 8 months in advance without our permission or explanation. Manager was either having a day off or in a meeting every time we tried to discuss this issue. To sum up good park especially for an overnighter but bad management.
Parking: The way the park allows you in through the boom gates to park inside the park for check in is excellent.
Added Touches: Has a very good fish cleaning facility and an area to wash your car.
Local Information: Nambucca is a great place for doing nothing as there is nothing to do. Walks swims and fishing is about it. All the close by beaches (that we saw) that you could have fun in the waves with the kids had way too many rocks.
Roads: Entry road a bit tight if you had a big rig but for the standard sized vans no probs at all.

A very tidy, peaceful, pet friendly Top Tourist park and good value for money, even without the TT discount. Sites fronting the lagoon are dearer but it is very pleasant sitting out the back of the van of an evening with a glass of red. Friendly staff who explained park layout, facilities, and local attractions. Park entrance has a security boom gate. Sites are level, some a little cramped, and some have annex slabs while others have a mixture of grass and chitter. Most sites are shaded and some, not all, would accommodate the larger van or fifth wheeler. Amenities are tidy and are cleaned daily. They appear adequate to cope in peak times. Water pressure is good and there is plenty of hot water. There are laundries adjoining the amenities blocks and plenty of hanging space. Night lighting is reasonable. Park has good undercover gas BBQ's and a good camp kitchen is in the middle of the park. Children are well catered for with a good playground and very good pool. We found the TV reception virtually nonexistent but went to the tavern at the park entrance to watch the football and have a few beers. The tavern had very good meals too and they were reasonably priced. We've been to this park several times and will continue to frequent it. One of the best we've encountered.

We also had some lagoon views because the van sites fronting the lagoon were being re-grassed. Good laundry ($4 per wash) with lots of hanging space. Reasonable night lighting, some sites had slabs. Good dump point. Good undercover bbq area. Good playground. Kid's safe pool. Plenty of bins throughout the park which were emptied every day. This park is very well maintained and very clean. Permanents housed in a separate area and all sites were tidy and clean. We had a lovely baked dinner with dessert at the pub at the front of the park for $15.00. We were very happy with this park and would stay again. Suitable for any length of time.

Dislikes: The amenities are very old and a little smelly (but we were there after the floods) apart from that it is a small, lovely park. Could do with maybe two showers and two toilets down the far end of park.

Local Information: Lovely ocean views, short stroll to estuary beach. Very friendly bowls club at main entrance with good Chinese restaurant. Only about 200 m to shopping centre. Walk through main street to the end to get to beach. Short walk to beach. Lawns bowls, croquet, swimming pool within 100m of park. Lovely main street which includes RSL club. No supermarkets close by but large shopping complex in Toormina about 5 km away. Nice but hilly golf course has cheap golf ($14) on Sundays and Tuesdays and Vets on Mondays. Good mobile and TV reception.

Large park with lots of grass and trees. Park appears to be run by the council, there is a public hall in the grounds and the playground and barbecue area are available to the public. There is no swimming pool, if you use the public pool next door the park will reimburse you one entry per day per person on departure. We had an ensuite site, nice roomy ensuite with separate glassed shower cubicle, towel rail and good cupboard and drawers for unpacking into. Ensuite sites have a TV point to plug into, which gave better reception than our antenna but didn't have all channels. Ensuite sites are all double concrete slabs (van and annexe) and fairly level, some powered sites had the same slab arrangement but many had no slabs. Quite a few powered sites appeared to have a severe slope. Price was $280 PW (2A) for the first 2 weeks, then dropped to $270 PW, with the max TT discount of $40 taken off as well. Dislikes: Barbecues didn't seem to get hot enough. Several ensuite sites have a severe slope in front of the slab, making it almost impossible to get our 20'6" van unhitched, if your van is a reasonable size avoid ensuite 5.

This is an open park that is part of a state park so there are certain security considerations - but we did not encounter any problems. There are a large number of cabins and some permanents but, overall, there is a very friendly feel to this park that we liked. Likes: This park is a real gem on our stay it was very quiet compared to parks further N in fact it was almost empty. There are at least 3 separate camp kitchens and just as many council BBQ's about the park. The facilities are excellent and 1 block was totally renovated and there are plans to do the other. There are 2 separate laundries and also a baby change and bathroom. Whilst there is not a children's play area in the park there is a great play area right next door to the park. We can thoroughly recommend this park. The beach at the rear of the park is magnificent and looked "kid friendly".
Dislikes: Would like a concrete slab as the sites could be a little dusty in summer. Whilst the park itself is dog friendly you may only take your dog on a leash on the beach between 5.30 pm and 8.30 am due to council by-laws which I believe are enforced
Parking: Be careful on arrival make sure you turn left at the office and don't go straight ahead, especially on weekends when the public area is full and you can't do a U turn. Probably best to park on the left prior to the park if possible
Local Information: There is a bowling club with meals at the far end of the park and a tavern across the road. Only basic shops (small supermarket), a bakery, butcher and newsagent. Grassy Head and Stuarts Point are close by. There is a concrete boat ramp in the park next door which looks suitable for most weather
Roads: Road off the Pacific Hwy very patchy and some winds and twists but reasonable

The managers are very friendly and helpful. This park has a beautiful beach and views to die for. It is located in town. This is also the worst aspect of the park. It is opposite the pub which is also the TAB. Getting an early night is not an option unless you can get a site on the lower levels of the park. The yobbos who inhabit the pub keep yelling hours after the pub closes. Getting a site at a lower level (anecdotally) is a matter of waiting for someone to give up their site. One morning the pub rolled out their kegs across the road at 7am. The site is open to public access on most sides so security is an issue. One Friday night a security guard was seen patrolling the park. This park is very dog friendly so you have to be able to put up with dogs barking during the night. On walking into the shower block you feel like you have been transported into the 1960's. No power point at the mirrors but a double powerpoint at the urinal( ) Large areas of mildew and peeling paint on the ceilings. Two out of three nights there was only lukewarm water in the shower. Nowhere to put your toilet bag in the shower. Single flush toilets. Very friendly staff. Poor value for money ($194 2A per week, powered, off-peak season). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was inadequate hot water, soap provided. This is a great park with greater amenities however the fact that it is off the main road, a little out of town (but within very easy walking distance), backs onto a lovely river/creek that is tidal and you can also walk to the beach makes is fabulous. We stayed 10 days and to be frank we could have retired there permanently - it is so nice. The owners (Richard) and his team were fabulous and went out of their way to help out. Richard also put on a sausage sizzle and some great entertainment for lunch on the Monday - everybody had a ball. This park is dog friendly and our dogs loved the beach and the terrific grassy sites. We will be back again to stay next year and would recommend this park highly to nomads (like us) and families - it caters for everything and everyone.

This is a large open park with some very large sites available so even the largest RV can be accommodated. Some new cabins have been installed with the latest being completed in the last two weeks. We were attracted to this park by a current 'special' offer of a powered camp site for $20 per night 2A, which represented excellent value. This was advertised on billboards on the road into town. The Resort is about 2kms E of the town, and about the same distance from the historic and heritage listed Trial Bay Public Works Gaol ruins. Management was very friendly and efficient and asked us for our preferences in a caravan spot before allocating one. The facilities and amenities are first class, it being a holiday 'resort' rather than just a caravan park. There are many recreational and sporting options available on site free to guests or for a small fee. Children are really well catered for and could be amused all day without needing to leave the site. The Resort occupies 7.5 acres in a peaceful bush setting, with abundant bird life and kangaroos wandering through the outer parts of the resort. Pets and generators are welcome, subject to certain reasonable restrictions. There appears to be a roughly equal mix of cabins, caravan and camping sites, many with their own ensuites. The park is quite new and is very neat overall and well maintained. Access is by means of a card-operated boom gate. Highly recommended for either a short or long term stay.

We were attracted to this park by a billboard advertising powered sites for 2 for $20.00 per night (ex school and public holidays). The special is expected to continue for up to 12 months and it makes this park the bargain of the year. Beautiful garden setting adjacent to a saltwater lagoon, this is a park teeming with wildlife including owls, kangaroos and sugar gliders. An extensive list of resident birds and animals is available at reception. The staff are very friendly and keen to help in any way and with every inquiry. Resort style pool, playground, half-court tennis-on-the-roof, games room and movie room (and a mini golf course under construction) make this a great family holiday destination, but there are plenty of sites away from the activities for those seeking a quieter sojourn. Even so, this place would be hopping with activity during the holidays, so keep that in mind when booking. Discount coupons for IGA, greengrocer, sports club (great seafood buffet) and more available at reception. Spotless amenities, great undercover BBQ area (fee applies), camp kitchen. Lots of concrete annexe sites, but make sure you select a site suitable to your rig size. Some are smaller and difficult to reverse in to. The town of South West rocks offers great shopping, dining, history and Information Centre. Trial Bay Gaol certainly worth a visit. Lovely walk up to the Monument (and beyond, if you like) and don't miss the steep-but-short walk up to the lighthouse. Great place for families and Nomads to chill out for a week or so.

This park has no swimming pool but there is safe swimming in the river that runs along the front of the park. There is no playground either but there is a council playground near the entrance to the park. Some sites have slabs but most do not. There are a large number of permanent vans in the park, most seem to be holiday vans. These are located at the back of the park and the tourist sites are between them and the river. The park is long and narrowish, running along the river edge. The unpowered section at the far end of the park is nicely grassed and well shaded from the afternoon sun. The town has a hotel and a workers club and bowling green. It has a butcher, well stocked general store and a newsagent. The camp kitchen is located on the grassed area overlooking the river, it is undercover, well stocked with appliances and has a good amount of seating. The far end of the park is the most shaded, the first sites in the park (closer to the office), have less trees and are open to the sun. Very friendly staff. Price was as expected, good value for money ($124.00 2A per week powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. This is a Reserve across the road from the Pub with No Beer. Camp anywhere except on the oval. Free, time limit unknown. Well grassed, level field. Male and female flush toilets. There is water available at toilet block but signed "Do Not Drink". Can go across to the hotel to use their showers for gold coin donation. Two wood fired BBQ's in picnic shelter, bring own wood. There is cricket pitch on the oval plus practice nets, tennis courts and children's playground on the reserve. No Mobile Service (Telstra). Very quite spot.

This is a large park with good facilities. Lots of cabins and obviously a park that attracts lots of long term stayers. The park is in direct line with the airport so a bit of noise early in the morning and later at night. This probably applies to all parks in the town. Lots of pubs and clubs to keep you entertained and reasonably close the Gold Coast attractions along the freeway. This sites are mostly with slabs, assistance is provided going on which is helpful as the trees and sizes of sites can make it a challenge. Nice pool with part of heated. Very friendly welcome and helpful staff. Facilities are good and but can be busy in the morning. Our site was very, very close to a large tree and had to have a couple of go's to get on without scraping the van. The site was a bit uneven and the slab surrounds just dirt. Most other sites had good grass surrounds. Security gate with key card access. I did not rate higher only because of the large tree, dusty site and airport noise. However it is suitable for a long term stay for the less pedantic.

Local Information: Boat hire is adjacent to the park as are nice walks around the inlet. Bowling, sports and social clubs are within walking distance or 5 mins by car. Mount Warning National Park is 30 mins away, the Gold Coast, Surfers Paradise, and Byron Bay in under an hour.

This is a neat, quiet park, right on the banks of the Tweed River. It has a boat ramp and a lovely safe beach for kids. There are BBQ facilities at the beach. Margaret in the office is very helpful and friendly. There may be some traffic noise if you have to park next to the road.

Manager's name is Fay. Nicely located across the road from Terranora Inlet, this is an older park in need of updating. Older style amenities while clean are in need of attention. Pad bolts on toilet doors are loose, there is cracked panelling in cubicles, no hand drying facilities at all in the toilet blocks, the soap dispenser in the ladies fell off the wall and it took nearly 2 weeks to replace it. While there are a number of slab sites, the large ones which accommodate larger vans etc are grassed and badly drained. We had bad weather during our last week and our annex was flooded 5 times in 4 days. The drainage is almost nonexistent in the grassed sites and no sullage facilities either. There are very large gum trees which were in flower during our month there. Fruit bats were a problem eating the blossoms and defecating on vans under the trees. Due to the trees we could not use our satellite dish so no foxtel. Most of the permanent dwellings are older type but the residents were freindly. Lots of aircraft noise here as the park is directly under the flight path. Be warned bring your ear plugs, the first flight is at 6.07am. The office closes at 12 noon for lunch till 1 pm so if you arrive during this time there is nobody to check you in. Friendly staff, average staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice. This is a difficult park to find with all the highway being altered and gravel trucks. This is one of the few dog parks in the Gold Coast area. The facilities were very old but clean. There is only one road circling in and out that was narrow and made backing difficult. Near the river. But nothing prepared us for the aircraft noise. This park is right under the flight path of airplanes taking off. Starts at 6.10 am and goes some nights to about 9.30pm. At $30 for 2A, it wasn't worth it. We left early without a refund. Not recommended.

Likes: Right on the river and across the road from shops and pub. Large easy to park sites even with a 21.5 ft van. Board walk out to the ocean with good view of local wildlife. Very peaceful at night. Has had a lot of money spent with new facilities and updated sites. Still needs the grass to grow back but will be a great spot in a couple of months.
Dislikes: A little exposed to the wind but to be expected in the location. Open to the small beach and walking paths so no security.
Parking: Marked parking lane.
Roads: Even if coming into Urunga from the north, turn right at the tourist information and follow the road around. If you head into the town from the left then the roads are a little tight for larger vans.

Urunga Heads is not particularly well laid out but once you are off the Pacific highway and East of the railway line everything leads to the park. An excellent park. There has been a great deal of money spent on modifications to the park and it shows with new slabs, sites, road alignment and amenities blocks. The outlook is wonderful and everything in the town is on the doorstep. It is a park where is would be easy to spend a great deal of time. Likes: Great spot for a stay away from the hustle and bustle of Coffs Harbour. Shops across the road as well as pub and club. Great board walk around estuary to headland. Peaceful with the ocean sounds to add to the ambience.

This park is in the process of being upgraded. There is a lot of money being spent on it. Wiring was being installed for extra power heads whilst we were there. The roads have been renewed. Boom gates are new. There are many new slabs that have been installed. Buildings have been upgraded and repainted. Lots of room to spread out, new amenities block and everything was kept very clean. Friendly and helpful management. Easy walk to lagoon and walk over dune to beach. Very quiet park. We were invited to join in Happy Hour at the on-site tavern with local residents and were made very welcome. Offered winter special, stay and pay for 2 nights ($25) and get the third night free.

We have stayed here a number of times and find this park to be very pleasant and generally friendly and convenient for our stays whilst visiting local friends rather that the busy Ballina area parks. Whilst there a number of permanent residences in this park the two sections operate in complete harmony. A range of sites of differing nature from back-in to drive-throughs and large open unpowered camping area. The highway noise is a bit of a worry until you become accustomed to it, but when the highway diversion is complete that will be a thing of the past. Likes: We have been several times over the last 18 months and each time we are greeted like family and so is our toy poodle. He loves the place as there are many vans with 4 legged family and everyone is aware of being responsible re leashes etc and droppings. Bins and scoopers provided all through the park. Colin and Wendy don't ever overbook the sites so you never feel cramped or crowded. Very relaxing and pleasant. Better not in heavy wet weather.
Parking: Good parking at the office.
Local Information: Beach and river very near. Good for the fishermen or beach goers.
Roads: Road to the park is bitumen but uneven. Best to drive in from Wardell township side.

This is a very basic council park, but as they say 'location, location'! With a beautiful dog friendly beach to the east and a lovely lake to the west, we enjoyed our stay here. There are a lot of picnic tables throughout the park and a few BBQs that make you just want to relax. We walked into town along the beach and returned on the sheltered road, an easy 1km each way. At a winter special of $136 per week, this was great value. The amenities are old but spotless. Some of the sites were quite small and took some work to get a van into. We especially enjoyed the local Coffs Council arrival one afternoon to prepare a free BBQ of snags, steak and salads for guests to say thank you for visiting the area. We'll be back.

Internet and phone signals excellent. Possible to walk to town along beach if fit but otherwise it is a car trip for groceries and shopping. Will stay here again.

Likes: This park has the perfect position - next to beautiful beach and popular park and across the road from shops. Walking distance to clubs. Friendly staff. A good park for a longer stay.
Dislikes: Again, security is a problem. No real fences and lots of people cutting through to the beach. Few sites for the larger 5th wheelers and motorhomes. Some sites rather small and vans very close together. Noise from the surf club at times (not at night) and mowing of sites mid-afternoon (not good for nappers).
Parking: Good double driveway for booking in.
Local Information: Beautiful beachside town. Excellent shopping and cafes.

It is a large park with very large sites, the biggest we have found so far, so some sites are close to amenities and others are further away but as it would only be full at Christmas and Easter it would be your choice most of the time. Very good park especially out of school holiday periods, for the park is on the Wooli River, easy access to the pub next door and the park has good facilities. There has been a lot of money spent on the facilities, adults area set aside above the camp kitchen for BYO and licenced drinks whilst in comfortable chairs to talk the night away. The only problem is the midges, for it rained for a couple of hours and the midges had a field day. There is a concrete walking path into the village of Wooli, walking tracks into the state parks that surround Wooli. Overall, the park ticks a lot of boxes; with some Bushman's we will be back to fight the midges. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff helped us at the site. Likes: Chris and Ann are very helpful managers and are doing their best to improve the conditions, and the permanents are very friendly. Not too many parks where you have river one side and surf the other.
Dislikes: I would like to see the council see the potential in this park and spend some money especially on the sullage.
Added Touches: Once a fortnight there is a bus into Grafton to do your shopping or anything else you need to do. Cost is $5 per person. Boat ramp, fish cleaning table.
Local Information: There is a bowling club, a hotel, and a small restaurant, and a nearby jetty. There are fishing charters nearby and NPs to take nice walks. There is rock walls down at the mouth to the ocean.
Roads: Roads are average for an out of the way area, but there is no problem bringing a caravan in. Some areas you need to leave the bitumen to pass.

This park is caught in a property developers time warp. There is a lot of development on the Tweed Coast, some good, a majority of it bad. But smack damn in the end of the whole show is Wooyung Beach. It's the 70's all over again, it has the basics, some powered sites, some unpowered, a small amenities building and the classic little whiff of the septic. It's cheap when compared to the other myriad of parks along the Tweed Coast, but comes up trumps when the location is only 80m from the beach. The manager will take dogs with the strict law of clean up after them and keep them on a leash, but they are dog lovers at heart. There is a mix of permanent and casual campers, they are friendly and will share their little set up with you. For all the coffee fiends, a bloke comes around between 10 and 11am with a mobile coffee van, not bad I must say, he gets his beans from the local coffee growers around the Tweed and Byron areas. Then there is Wooyung Beach, kilometres of beach, North Tweed with the development, south Byron and the light house; at night on a rug and a bottle of wine, well we will not go there, but just to say not a bloody high rise in sight. Then a travel north down the coast road to the developed areas of the Tweed and whatever that brings, so you are not too far from the action if the family wants to get away. But there is developers on the horizon and they are zeroing in on Wooyung Beach. Sign the anti-developers petition to voice your anger. The Tweed Council is trying to save this part of the Coast; you will see why. On the beach at low tide, watching the dogs scamper around the surf and barrel down the beach, walking down without a care in the world. If you have kayaks, take a little trip to Pottsville and throw the kayak in at Pottsville and follow the Pottsville creek south, then there is Cudjun Creek at little further down and Hastings Creek. There's plenty of kayaking spots, then if you are keen, the Tweed FRiver further north along the coast road. Then at night, throw some wood on the fire near your site and watch the flames flicker, sit back with some drink and take the whole lot of nothing in; the world will pass you by. There are heaps of wild life, Bush chooks, scrub turkeys, Kookaburras and the vast gamut of bird life. Wooyung Beach, a little whiff of the septic, it's just the 70's all over again. It aint fancy but who cares, it's plain, cheap, takes dogs, good location and relaxing. Friendly staff. Good value for money ($30 2A 1C per night, powered, peak season). This is a quality park with quality sites, amenities, general facilities, & most of all no noise although I wouldn't like to be here in school holidays as it is so kid friendly; I imagine it is packed out with ankle biters. This is a very large park & no matter how many vans are on the premises there is lots of space. The only down side is the site is some kms from either Yamba or Maclean in the middle of nowhere. The owners are new, the manager is new, all have good intentions but they couldn't even tell me where the TV repeater tower was. Reception is very poor & we had to use our satellite receiver. Likes: late arrival night manager was great, assisted with positioning van, helpful regarding fishing spots. Staff very friendly and informative. 2 pools to choose from in separate areas. Picnic tables right on Clarence River. Lots to do on rainy days and there were a lot of them in our 2 week stay.
Dislikes: ensuite is poorly ventilated, on warm days it gets stifling in there and there is no exhaust fan or window to open. Some sites a 10 m water/sullage hose was not long enough.

Manager's name is Karen And Jeff Toms. Park is in two distinct parts-east has room for small to medium vans with concrete pads available -8 ensuite type bathrooms available for everyone with an additional 4 toilets - just like your bathroom at home. West end has large sites suitable for large vans, 5 wheelers etc. which I believe become 2 sites at peak periods. Main amenities block has 7 showers and 4 toilets with an additional 2 toilets outside. This block is dated but clean and not a problem. Laundry has 6 washing machines and 3 dryers ($3). Park is close to river and a few hundred yards to 2 beautiful beaches (Whiting and Turner Beach). Entrance is non secure and you are only across the road and into the shopping area, so close to town. This is the best positioned park in Yamba. Nice pool area but we noticed a few local school kids using it at times. Gated pontoon with code entry is available for campers with boat mooring available. Staff are friendly but you need to ask for information as little offered without request. Seniors discount available but you need to ask. Nice park, close to town and beaches but some sites are a little tight to get into. Having said that we would not hesitate to stay here again. We had looked forward to staying at this park but in the end we were disappointed. On the positive side it is in a good location in the town and the generous seniors discount reduces a poor value for money rate of $38 per night 2A, powered to a tolerable rate of $31 per night. The park has been poorly maintained and much of the facilities have passed their use-by date. The sites are small and very difficult to access and exit. No assistance is offered or given. As a consequence the park is crowded and you get to listen to your neighbours conversation whether you want to or not. Pathways have numerous protruding edges and are hazardous. Roadways are rough and don't provide much of an alternative. Night lighting is poor adding to the hazards. The amenities are old and because of ingrained dirt stains never appear clean. In any case, during our time there the main cleaning tool appeared to be a hose which left the floor constantly wet. It is certainly popular with families and school holidays add to the overcrowding. The staff were generally efficient at check-in but offered no tourist advice or even where to go to find it in this major tourist area. Overall, very disappointing and we were happy to leave.

I find a lot to agree with the comments by the Nicolstones on this park. It is a tale of two ends. The northern end is probably the first part to be used and the other end seems to have been added on. The positives are that the park is nicely located on the river, the small shops are a short stroll, lots of cafe's and bakeries etc. The bowling club is just across the road and our meal was OK, not special, but OK. The Golf Club is also a short stroll, and fishing off the breakwater just up the road. The ferry to Iluka is just outside of the park and the lunch time cruise up the Clarence River is very pleasant. The welcome was friendly and a seniors discount is available. Sites 2 to 80 are reasonably close to some ensuite type facilities that have the toilet, shower, sink, mirror all in the one - they looked clean and reasonably maintained. The shortcomings are that sites to north seemed cramped and probably suited to vans around the 17 foot six mark. The sites were flat and either had slabs or shade cloth put down on the ground. A single sealed road went in a circle around the sites. Limited parking for vehicles and tinnies etc. The sites the other end have access to a keyed entry gate so you can get to the ferry, bowls and golf clubs. They are larger. But the facilities right down this end are just two toilets and one handicapped type shower - very rudimentary. The facilities in the middle of the park were more numerous but they are very old, and not at all welcoming. We chose not to shower in either facility. The ones at the end of the park reminded me of a truckies stop - large toilets, but stainless steel toilet and wash basin - some of it leaking badly onto the floor, so when you dropped the drawers you had to keep them out of the water. But the good points outweighed the bad and we would probably stay again if coming this way. However there was a nice park over at Iluka (on the water front) and I would give this one a try I reckon. It did look popular though and many were obviously set up for the winter. The trip on the ferry to either side only takes half an hour - but only operates during the day. The value at Yamba at $28 a night after a senior's discount was probably around the mark. The sites down the southern end are more suitable for larger rigs and have much more space allocated to them. If you have your own shower on board, probably the better option. The BBQ area looked OK. I was told there are plans to provide more powered sites down the poor cousin end, and can only hope they upgrade the amenities down there as well.

Park is in 2 distinct halves. East section has smaller sites with slabs and/or green matting. This section has 8 individual bathrooms plus 4 toilet cubicles. We were in west section, which has some smaller sites with green matting, but mainly very large sandy sites. In summer school holidays, these sites become 2 tent sites. This section of the park has one unisex shower and 2 toilets at far end, or else you use the main amenities block near reception. We were at that end of the section, and because the cabins and motel units were between us and the amenities it was still a long way away. 2 types of showers in main amenities block, one nice and large with barely tepid water and one small with hot water. Average staff friendliness, staff offered tourist advice. Good value for money ($168 2A per week, powered). Mostly unlevel sites, poor night lighting. Good laundry, disabled facilities, dump point, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Likes: Location makes up for all other shortcomings. Walk out front gate and you are in the middle of shopping and restaurants, out gate at west end and you're 1 block from bowling club and 2 blocks from golf club, out gate at other end and you're 2 mins from river beach and 5 mins from surf beach. River runs entire length of back of park.
Dislikes: Sandy site meant it was impossible to keep van clean. Hot water in amenities was dodgy. Public walkway along river at back of park wasn't fenced.

This is one of those little gems right on the Clarence River. No more than 20m to casting a line for big bream, plus it's close to the ocean for beach fishing at Yamba. Maclean & Grafton are only a short drive. The newish owners do all you would expect to make you feel welcome. Amenities (2) are a little aged but in good shape & clean as is the BBQ area with covered cooking shed & tables & chairs. The only downside is if there has been a lot of rain the park becomes a bit boggy (its dead flat & on the river bank). The up side is the low tariff compared to Yamba & Iluka with their exorbitant fees, the fishing, and the whole northern rivers area within easy driving. This is a place worthy of at least a week to see the sights & stress out. The park is 50% permanents but they are all at the back & river front is for the tourists with some 30 sites so it is suggested to book ahead. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints ($23 2A per night, powered, peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Pets made very welcome if they are well behaved. We stayed at this park several years ago when it was a BIG4. The new owners (see Woodgate Beach report) are very helpful and welcome you and your dog. The park is well maintained and the ensuites are a really good size to put away the bike and Waeco when going out. We had to leave early due to the floods but are going back for 8 days at Easter. Likes: Concrete runners for our caravan next to the slab for the annexe. Large ensuites. Very friendly atmosphere. The residents are very nice and looked out for our van when we were out and about. Our little baby poodle was treated like a guest, not an afterthought like so many parks.
Parking: Space for one or two car and van combos at the entrance. Keep left to let the residents out of the boom gate.
Local Information: Close to wonderful Yamba and it great seafood. Short drive to Maclean for some Celtic shopping.
Roads: Road into Yamba is ok. Bit narrow in some spots. If heavy continuous rain is expected the causeway can flood and you will be enjoying Yamba for a few extra days as there is no other exit when this occurs. Check the BOM reports.

We love this place. Have stayed here 3 times so far and will do so again if passing. Not the cheapest at $28, but excellent layout, facilities and friendly service make it seem cheaper. They have nice drive thru angled sites that easily accommodate our 5th wheeler and our long wheelbase tow vehicle too, and are wide enough for both our slide-outs (1 each side) with room to walk around. We were escorted to our site and on our first visit, the manager noted there was an old small lemon tree shrub that didn't look very well, and would have been in the way (we could still fit in). He said "We'll get that removed!" and before we'd finished setting up, it was gone. Now, that's service. Internal roads are sealed and while the corners are a bit tight, we can get around easily enough. The dump point is conveniently located for us to use before we exit, and they've even put a small hand basin there. How nice. The amenities are spotless and spacious, and there are several so they are not far away, and if one is being cleaned, there's another to go to. Never been quite warm enough air temp for us to use the heated pool but it looks lovely. There's a giant chessboard, and a lovely BBQ area down by the lagoon that gives the park its name. They are also now pet friendly, having changed affiliation in 2009. They are now a sister park to the one at Woodgate Beach near Bundaberg, and the same friendly feel pervades both. Quiet and peaceful, very relaxing and thoroughly recommended.

Likes: Good size sites. A very open spacious park. Choice of sunny or shady sites. All sites with slabs had concrete strips for the caravan wheels to sit on. There is a heated pool at front of park and an unheated pool in centre of park. There are also a number of BBQs located around park.
Dislikes: Washing machines were poorly cleaned. There are two amenities blocks. The ones closest to the front of the park are very poorly lit. The ones further down the park have a brighter decor and much better lighting.
Parking: Space to park on L/H side at reception.
Local Information: This is a seafood town with a large fleet of boats. Prawns and oysters are plentiful. A first class seafood restaurant is Gormans which is behind the Calypso Caravan Park right on the river. They have own Oyster Farm and prices are very reasonable.

Manager's name is National Parks & Wildlife Service. After just spending a weekend here, the NPWS must be congratulated for the excellent work that they have been doing with our camping fees. The camping ground is very popular and as such you will have to arrive early, but you will not be dissapointed. The camp grounds are about 4 kms south of Minnie Waters, 35 kms off the Pacific Hwy and about 20 kms away from Wooli. In Minnie Waters and Wooli, there is the general store, where basic supplies and fuel can be picked up, but if you want something a little bit more extravagant, then you will have to head for Grafton about 50 kms away. There are places for the kayaks, the lagoon at low tide in Minnie Waters, or the Wooli River. Yuraygir National Park has plenty of walking trails and the wild life is spectacular, especially the colony of sea eagles that inhabit this part of the park. You will be memorized, like I was, when you get down to the beach at low tide, and find that the sand crabs have made millions upon millions of small sand balls surrounding their holes. Walking on the beach, is like walking on a sand carpet, it is truly one to experience. This is a gem of a place. Friendly staff. Very good value for money ($20 2A per night). We paid $27. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable.
