I arrived at The Palms unexpectedly having been booked in by RACV's Total Care program. I was travelling with my Samoyed dog Liza when we experienced car problems. RACV located a park which would take Liza and made all the arrangements. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were placed on a site a little away from others and everything was fine. Amenities were good, pool looked inviting and I took advantage of the hot spa. I would certainly return. There are a large number of permanent residents but their part of the park is attractive and well kept. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, there was adequate hot water. Basic laundry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade. Clean pool is shaded. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park.

Manager's name is Aiden & Benita. This council owned park was seriously damaged as was parts of town about 6 weeks ago in storm. Lost about 40 trees. Park is now under new management and is currently a work in progress. Would like to return in a year to check it out, but is still a pleasant place to stay now. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($35 2A per night, ensuite, off-peak season). We paid $31.50 because of 10% Discount for 3 or more nights. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, very few sites are shaded, ensuite sites available, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Macarthur Road, Elderslie. Before contemplating this park, note that the amenities block is one complete floor up, ascended by wooden steps. For anyone with mobility difficulties, this park is no-go. Ph: 02 4658 0485. Pets allowed, conditions apply.

The park was in very good condition and well maintained but the dump point is an open drain which runs under the ladies amenities block. The smell day and night was dreadful. It was a long walk from the sites to the second amenities block. I did bring this up with management and was told they have tried everything to stop the smell. It wasn't that hot weather during our stay I dread to think what summer would be like. A shame as we have enjoyed previous visits. Friendly staff, average staff response to complaints. Reasonable value for money ($28 2A per night, peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, very few annex slabs, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, no permanents. No playground, no pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: It's lovely and green here and near to the town of Camden.
Dislikes: That smell from the amenities would stop me ever going back especially in summer.
Parking: not a lot of room to park when booking in, only room for one van and double lines on the road outside park to cross to enter the park
Added Touches: Bus stop at door of park. Nice walks.

Manager's name is Deborah (Office). This park is situated about 50 mins by bus to Sydney CBD. Bus service No. 642. The weekend service is a bit light on, but during the week we used bus, train and ferry - leaving our vehicle at the park. Being pensioners we pre-purchased $2.50 daily tickets, which gave us unlimited travel on bus, train, ferry and light rail transport. For 2 children a weekly multi-pass ticket is the most economical and one such ticket covers both children. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($65.00 2A 2C per night, peak season). We paid $60.00 because of Top Tourist Members. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites, ensuite sites available, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good camp kitchen, dump point, secure entry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Peaceful, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Clean UC electric bbq ($2.00), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in average condition. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Well run park handy for public transport to CBD; also 10 mins from Rouse shopping centres.
Dislikes: There are 4 ensuite sites and all are very small and hard to reverse into; however, we eventually managed to set up, but with no room to spare. The powered sites are mostly okay but a few are hard to reverse into and all are of average size. Don't be put off as this park meets most requirements.
Parking: There is a parking space neat the office.
Local Information: Must do for Kids: Luna Park, Taronga Zoo; Manly Aquarium; Darling Harbour = Sydney Aquarium & Aust Nat Maritime Museum; Sydney Tower. We travelled by bus to Wynyard thence a short walk to the Wynyard Rail Station to Circular Quay and ferries to Manly, Taronga, Darling Harbour and Luna Park. For Mum and Dad: Paddy's Markets - put aside a day and eat at the food court there.
Roads: Good roads.

Mackellar Street, northern side of railway line, past Penrith end of the station. Reasonably easy to find but if you are coming from the west do not let your GPS take you along the Old Bathurst Road as it becomes a narrow steep road with tight hairpin bends where vehicles over 2.5 tonnes and over 6m are banned. Go a bit further on and take the James Street exit. Ph: 02 4735 4425. Family Parks member. No pets allowed.

Manager's name is Phil and Paula Ward. Spaces for caravans are becoming an endangered species at this park. There are 180 sites and probably about 25 are available for tourists. The rest are cabins, motel units and residences. Two new residences were being built while we were and available for purchase. The rec room is being refurbished. Very friendly staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($30 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Inadequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, very few concrete annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point, secure entry, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Quiet, not enough shade, too many permanents. Clean UC gas bbq, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Excellent playground in good condition. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for families, well maintained park.
Likes: There were only a few old permanent vans. Most permanent sites as small demountable residences.
Dislikes: The park is right beside the train lines, but the noise is tolerable, and there are high voltage wires running the length of the road where most vans are parked.
Parking: There is a special park area in front of reception. Will only take on van at a time.

Manager's name is Nathan & Jo Evelyn. There were relief managers in the park during our stay and they were great. Helpful, polite and generally nice people. Very friendly staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($35 2A per night, powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Noisy, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade, too many permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Clean pool. Suitable for few days.
Likes: Not many van sites available and arranged in a circle around the amenities and recreation block. Brilliant idea except for when a group gathers and is very loud, noisy and takes over the area - then it was rather annoying.

Opposite entry to Katoomba Falls walk. Ph: 02 4782 1835. No pets allowed.

Manager's name is Aiden & Benita Clark. We spoke with managers about condition of park. The park is owned by the Katoomba Council. We were told the council would be upgrading sometime soon, however after speaking with tourists who have been here before, this park has been waiting for an upgrade for nearly 3 - 4 years. Because this park is the only one in Katoomba and within walking distance of walking trails and scenic world we felt the council has the monopoly of doing what it wanted. Off-peak rates are $35 and peak $45. We all felt sorry for Aiden & Benita as you could not find a nicer couple. Their hands are tired. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($35.00 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). We paid $31.50 because of 3 night off peak Stay. Inadequate number of amenities, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to some sites, very few sites are shaded, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, basic rec room, basic camp kitchen, dump point, secure entry, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in average condition. No pool. Suitable for month or longer.
Likes: Very quiet and peaceful.
Dislikes: The amenity block for both men's & women's were a disgrace. The ladies & men's had 5 showers & toilets. Ladies had one shower out of order. When showering water ran out of cubicle and into waiting area.
Parking: Outside of booking office.
Added Touches: For the use of Seniors Card cost for Bus & Rail is $2.50 for 4 hours. This was also for Rail from Katoomba to Sydney.
Local Information: Zig Zag Railway is $25 per adult. $22 for Concession. Travel to Mt Victoria on Western Hwy, turn right and travel to Clarence. Scenic World is within walking distance of park. We were surprised the prices were within one's budget. Value for money.
Roads: We came in from Bathurst and although very hilly, views were fantastic. Plenty of pullovers. Good roads.

Likes: small park with just over 30 powered sites, some sites have full slab for both caravan and annexe. We followed the other caravans in our row and parked the caravan beside the slab only to find out later that the caravan should have been on the slab but the signage for this had worn off on these slabs. Good location and it is close to some of the good walks.
Dislikes: This is a council owned park and not much maintenance appears to be carried out. The amenities block could do with some updating. It is also rather expensive but there is no other caravan park nearby

The Blue Mountains is a wonderful area and has only two choices for caravan parks, both local council owned. Katoomba Falls is situated a short walk from the best bush walks and tourist attractions in the upper mountains. The park is in desperate need of serious upgrade and as you have no other choices the council can frankly rip you off with crazy prices for the facilities provided. The caretakers are wonderful friendly people but can only work with the poor facilities they have. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Poor value for money ($51 2A C3 per night). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, concrete annex slabs to some sites, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities, car wash, dump point, secure entry, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 1). Quiet, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade, no permanents. Clean bbq. No pool. Suitable for few days.
Likes: The caretakers, the location, the view across the parklands
Dislikes: I feel ripped off by a council park who has invested almost nothing in years. The cabins are old and very tired; we have stayed in then in recent weeks as well as used our camper trailer. If looking for a cabin you would be best looking at other options like pubs or self contained flats in the area.
Local Information: Walks, cafes, views you will love, and much more. It's a wonderland.

A BIG4 Park that is worth its 4 Stars. At $45 for a powered site for 2 adults in low season it is expensive, but you pay for the excellent facilities and the nearby beach. It has all the facilities you could require, and all are clean and well maintained. Access to everything except for the BBQ and playground is by a swipe card. Even the gate to the beach requires the card - although you can walk down to the river end of the park and there is no fence. A surf beach and sea water pool are a short walk away. The large open park has fairly level, large lawn sites with sullage, water & power close by - but no concrete slabs and little shade. There are several accessible dump sites for motorhomes. This is definitely a "holiday park" where you could relax for a few days, but it may get busy and noisy in holiday season. There is no kiosk and it is a good long walk to the shopping centre.

Lane Cove River Tourist Park, North Ryde

Plassey Road off Delhi Road near M2 off Lane Cove River Road, Macquarie Park (Lane Cove). 1 km from the Delhi Road intersection. Part of Lane Cove National Park. Entrance to Park is included in site fee. If booking in advance park will send out printed directions. OzParks member. Ph: 02 9888 9133 or 1300 729 133. No pets allowed.

I love staying at this park. It is close to the train station, and therefore easy to access Sydney CBD, but offers a quiet respite from the noise and excitement of the city. As others have mentioned, facilities are all one would expect of a city park. I have only stayed there at holiday time, when it is really busy, but there has never been a problem with amenities or services. I have always been allocated spacious sites, close to the national park, with plenty of room between my van and the neighbours. If you can get a site backing on to the national park, there is the illusion of camping in the bush. Some of the central sites are less spacious. Booking in the holiday season is essential, as the park frequently displays "no vacancy" signs. I like the low lighting at night - it's enough to find your way around safely, but you don't have lights shining in your eyes all night. I enjoyed the free tai chi each morning - sessions are available 3 days a week mostly, but every day in holiday season. There are also spotlighting sessions at night. There is a well marked walk from the park into Lane Cove National Park, so it's easy to enjoy walks by the river. Thoughtfully, the path returning to the caravan park is signed from the national park as well, reducing the chances of getting lost on the return journey. For those, like me, not comfortable driving through major cities, access is relatively easy, as the approach is via arterial roads. The only down side is the lack of food shops within walking distance (not the park's fault). However, the reception area sells bread and milk, and there is a pizza outlet near the entrance. At around $30 if you stay a week, it's amazing value for a city park.

Manager's name is Andrew Daff & Staff. This is a large tourist park within the Lane Cove National Park run by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Department. It is an Eco Park and as such don't expect it to be manicured. It is in a very convenient position as the park is a 10-15 minute walk from the railway station which takes you right into Sydney. If you are a senior or a pensioner your ticket is $2.50 which will take you on all transport (bus, monorail, train, and ferry) anywhere and all day. Most sites have a concrete slab which although can be considered as an annex slab they are very small and narrow, and in a lot of cases in need of repair. There is a Pizza cafe at reception which in normal times operates Friday through to Sunday but during school holidays is open every day of the week and also serves breakfast. Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($33 2A per night, powered, peak season). We paid $28 because of Seniors Card and staying for a week or more. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly unlevel sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes or 5th wheelers, annexe slabs to most sites, most sites are shaded, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point, secure entry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 3). Peaceful, open and roomy, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: Near the city and in the national park but without being in the hustle and bustle of the city and with easy access to shopping centres, trains, and buses
Dislikes: Because it is an Eco park some of the sites are very difficult to get into especially with a bigger van. Unfortunately the reception staff have not been trained on what size van is suitable for what site. The site we were allocated was ridiculously tight for the size of our van and we had to unhitch, realign the car, rehitch and then push the van onto the site, the reason being was a large tree and flower bed in the way. The other problem is some sites are narrow and steeply terraced which as with our site was another headache to watch out for when backing into position. Although emptied regularly, the garbage bins were filthy and badly in need of washing.
Parking: Outside reception
Added Touches: Free night tours of the national park. Tai Chi daily during school holidays.
Local Information: Good walks through the national park. Shopping centres within a 5 km radius of the park.
Roads: The M2 is currently going through major upgrade and can be very slow and there is also a lot of road works to repair rain damage.

Manager's name is Andrew Daff - National Parks Service. The amenities were disappointing in this park. There are 4 amenities blocks - 3 around the park and one near the office. All were reasonably clean. In the first 3, there were insufficient clothes or towel hooks, no soap holders in most shower stalls, and no shower screens. In the block near the office, there were soap holders and screens, but regular variation in temperature. The Parks have a ranger take a free night torch tour of the park to see local native wildlife. The park is quiet during the aircraft curfew times (11pm to 6am) but the park is under the flight path and can be noisy after 6am. Night lighting was poor in some areas of the park. Vodafone internet coverage was patchy (poor to medium), but Telstra was strong. Excellent TV reception as towers are in view of the park - turn off booster or you get signal overload. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($35 2A per night, powered, off-peak season). We paid $32 because of Seniors 10% discount. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, sites will accommodate medium to large vans over 18ft, annex slabs to some sites, most sites are shaded, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, basic rec room, basic camp kitchen, disabled facilities, dump point, secure entry, open and roomy, plenty of shade. Clean UC bbq (free), bbq area lighting. Basic playground in average condition. Clean pool, kid-safe pool area. Suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.

Once your visit is over then it's almost next to the major motorways leading north, west or south. You have next to no city traffic to negotiate with your van

Patonga Camping Area, Patonga

The park is located at the end of Bay Street (end of the road) on the confluence of the bay and the creek. Ph: 02 4325 8222. No pets allowed.

Patonga camp ground is owned by Gosford City Council. For bookings ring between 9.00 am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday. The ranger is about the park most of the day but the office is only open from 1.00pm and check in time is 1.00pm. The park seems to be quiet through the week in the off season, but it is almost impossible to get a booking over the weekends when the park packs out with locals. I believe the park is very noisy on weekends when the park is full but during the week it is very peaceful. Amenities are accessed via a pin number. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($27.002A per night, off-peak period). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs , shade to some sites, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, no rec room. Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere, no permanents. Excellent playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for few days.
Likes: There is a boat ramp at the park.
Dislikes: Park grounds are very well used and there is not a lot of grass on the sites, this is simply because of over use.
Parking: There is not any real check in parking area and if you arrive before the 1.00pm check in time it is not easy to park a caravan and wait till the office opens. The easiest is to park out in the street and walk in to see if you can find the ranger who runs the park.
Local Information: The local pub has great restaurant quality meals. There is a tennis court for hire at the park. A small general store for supplies but larger shops are only about 10km away.

51 Terry Rd. Turn West off Windsor Road onto Terry Road. Ph: 02 9629 2652. Pets allowed, small pets only.

Please note: This is a warning report to stay well clear of this place. The park shows up on our Nuvi navigator plus in Google Searches as a caravan park and is signposted from the main Windsor road. They do have a website, however three attempts to contact them via this tells me they do not look at their messages. Entry to the park is very well hidden with no actual signage except for the direction signs on the main road. The front gate is not defined at all. Upon entering the park there is an intercom as the office is at the far back corner of the park and basically impossible to reach with a van hooked up. Also, unfortunately once you are in the gate there is no other way out than to either turn around in a one lane driveway or to try & negotiate the tiny roads that have cars parked either side. The lady who answered the intercom was very rude and not very inclined to help. She told us to take the site by the front gate that was impossible to get into (not a hope in Hades for us and the 21 ft van) and the kerbing is ridiculously high. We would have snapped the feet of the van legs off if we had of attempted it. It is very rare that I cannot find at least a couple of good points in a place but this is not possible from our experience. We navigated the streets and got out of there quick smart. Unfriendly staff.

Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. No bbqs. Good playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for few days, suitable for families.
Likes: 4 fenced, off lead dog areas, the dogs loved it.
Dislikes: Had we been by the grandstand we would not have had water to the van. We were allowed to stay up near the dog club as we were only staying two nights. The toilets looked as though they had not been cleaned for a week, the only showers in this part of the ground are cold. Woke up on the Sunday surrounded by trucks, cars, horse floats and a lot of horses, there was a show.

Old and tired. Amenities, roads, slabs all in old/poor condition and need renovating. Heated pool was a big draw for us - but heating didn't work while we were there. Very friendly and helpful staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($35 2A per night, shoulder season). We paid $26.25 because of 4/3 deal. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Likes: Would have loved the heated pool if it was working

Owned by the NRMA, this is a holiday destination in its own right. Excellent facilities and well maintained. Would be a great place to stay with the kids or grandkids. Close to the beach and lots of facilities including a cafe, bouncing castle etc. Great pool and they have organised activities for the kids each day. Staff did not offer assistance with parking but were very helpful with local information. There are differing site options, camping basic powered, premium powered and ensuite. Cost varies from $25 to $50 per night midweek and up to $65/night for a premium site on weekends low season. You need to let them know the length of your van as they match the sites exactly to your length which can make things a little tight in some sites. The premium sites have TV hookup with a $5 deposit for the lead, refundable. Found this to be about as good as the caravan aerial. Overall you could stay here a couple of weeks and enjoy the well maintained facilities. The local road leading to the park is in poor condition with potholes interspersed around the speed humps. Look carefully for the caravan park signs as you approach. NRMA offers a 10% discount and accept other States motoring organisation membership.

This is a NRMA park but managed by FreeSpirit Holiday Parks. They have a number of different types of sites being powered site, eco powered site, premium powered site and ensuite powered site. We stayed on a premium powered site which are larger than the normal powered sites and also have more shade. Also if you stay on one of these sites they will give you a TV cable to connect direct to their TV service which gives you better reception and access to Foxtel. A small deposit of $5 is required for this but worth it. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money ($245 2A per week, powered, off-peak season). We paid $175 because of special NRMA member offer of stay for 7 nights and pay for 5. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, kiosk, dump point, secure entry, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. Clean UC electric bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Excellent playground in good condition. A difficult park to find - no signs till actually at the park, even though Umina is only small, the park is hidden behind the surf club, down a long unkempt road. It is a large park, right on the beach, with many, many cabins and holiday permanents. The tourist sites seem to be located where there is a space, so no congenial atmosphere for travellers. Amenities were cleaned twice a day (what a refreshing change that is) and were sparkling. There is a large tent area beside the creek, which looked very pleasant. The swimming pool is very kid friendly, there is also a playground and jumping pillow. Be aware that TV reception is very poor, but "premium" sites are available (no doubt at a premium price), where an aerial is provided, but none of those sites were big enough for our 25' van. BBQs were situated more for the cabins. There is a cafe near the pool. Reception had no reaction to our complaint about lack of signage, otherwise they were friendly enough and offered tourist advice. We weren't offered assistance or shown to site, but didn't ask if that service was available. Umina is a good place to be based to tour the Central Coast - a ferry can be taken from Ettalong to Palm Beach, then buses to Manly or Sydney city. Terrigal is a good place for lunch and there is a lovely drive around MacMasters Beach and Copacobana.
Likes: The continuing effort in keeping the park clean and rubbish free.
Dislikes: The worst toilet paper ever, anywhere.
Date 04/2009. Park Rating 4: Would certainly stay again.

Average staff friendliness. Reasonable value for money ($36 2A per night, powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, separate bathroom, dry change area, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, very few annex slabs, shade to some sites, ensuite sites available, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Noisy, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, too many permanents. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families.
Likes: Grassy shady sites, ensuites were up the top of the hill and had concrete slabs, the basic sites do not. Didn't realise there were ensuites available upon check in. Seems to be primarily an on-site park with loads of cabins and transportable accommodation and only a few van sites available.
Dislikes: The office was closed and management didn't seem too friendly upon arrival, however it was 5 mins before the Melbourne Cup ran which could explain that.
