Ragonesi Rd. Turn off Stuart Hwy to Ross Hwy access via bridge over Todd River (south of Heavitree Gap), then go straight ahead at roundabout, road then sweeps around to the right (park is on the right). About 5km S of town centre. OZ Parks member. Ph: 08 8952 3135 or 08 8953 1418. Pets allowed, $50 bond applies.

Average staff friendliness, average staff response to complaints Reasonable value for money ($36 2A per night, powered, peak season). We paid $32.40 because of OzParks discount. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with annex slabs, shade to most sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, kiosk, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. No playground, no bbqs. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: Not a lot. We only stayed as we caught up with friends who had a dog and only park in Alice that took them (incorrect, Temple Bar and Wanngardi also are DFP - BADGER), we transferred from a better park to this for a few days.
Dislikes: Dump Point did not work and from previous reports it seems it has not been working for years. Sullage point overflows whenever anyone uses water for anything. If you don't have a dog, don't stay here. There is a kennel not far where dogs can be boarded if you stay somewhere else (or use one of the other parks - BADGER).
Parking: Enough for 2 rigs in driveway
Local Information: Plenty to see in Alice Springs, but do it during the day, suggest stay in at night.

Friendly staff. Poor value for money ($36.00 2A per night, powered, peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers. Good laundry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Optus, reception quality was 4). Too many permanents. Suitable for few days.

This has the potential to be an excellent park but is let down by the owners failing to keep up with maintenance and improve the layout of the park. It is extremely difficult to negotiate into or out of most sites due to the configuration of the roadway, too many vans have been crammed in where roads should have been created to give better access. There is one toilet/shower block for the entire park and those unlucky enough to be put at the N or east side of the park have up to 200m to walk to the facilities. There is just one laundry and, at the time of our stay, just three washing machines, and the line area is a disgrace. There used to be a dump point within the park but this has been declared 'out of order' and it should be repaired and put back into service. The practise of driving 2 kms to the dump point is a ridiculous notion as I'm sure many travellers make a surreptitious trip to the amenities to empty the cassette into the toilet. The are many permanents in this park who are quiet and unobtrusive, but an effort should be made to ensure their vans are kept to an acceptable standard. There also appears to be a caravan 'grave yard' in the unpowered section of the park which does nothing for the look of the area. Park signage looks old and tired as does the reception area/general store and the landscaping of the area is non-existent. This park is in demand with dog owners as it appears to be the only one in Alice Springs which is (Temple Bar and Wanngardi also are DFP - BADGER), and while a bond for dogs is understandable, $50 per dog (we have 2) is excessive. At $36 a night (2A powered site) the owners are raking it in, but are putting very little back into the park in terms of improvements. The inclusion within the park of a caravan repair business is an excellent idea, but its location at the front of the park only adds to the cramped conditions. This aspect of the business should be in a separate area, away from the main entry into the park. In summary this park is overpriced and under maintained and these facts were the often mentioned by many other tourists on our trip through NT. We would be reluctant to stay there again.

Only 1 poo bin and poo bag dispenser empty. Unfriendly staff, bad staff response to complaints. Poor value for money ($37.00 2A per night, powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Some unlevel sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, shade to some sites. Poor laundry, good camp kitchen, secure entry, wireless internet is available. Noisy, claustrophobic park, a few permanents. UC bbq, bbq area lighting. No playground. Clean pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Likes: The only site in the area that allows dogs, close to Alice Springs and ranges.
Dislikes: Site very full and squeezed in, dump point not working for the 3 days we were there, dryer in laundry not working. One stop shop that is advertised is more for caravan parts; dismal groceries. Not good value. Staff not helpful. 5k speed limit for all cars except the garbo guy who revved up every day creating a dust storm when emptying bins
Local Information: McDonnell ranges spectacular, Coles Woolworths in Alice Springs 5 kms easy parking in town
Roads: On main road

This is among the worst parks we have stayed in. Whilst boasting a 4 Star rating, this park would not rate a one on my scale. Our site was located in "the gardens" which was literally the back lawn of the managers' residence. We were required to reverse in through a separate gate some 60 m into the back corner. There were supposedly two other sites located in front of us that would block our access if occupied. The amenities were poorly maintained and used extensively by the permanents in the morning as they readied themselves for work. Sites are very tight and I witnessed people having trouble getting out of their sites let alone trying to get in. As the only park in Alice Springs that allows pets (Temple Bar and Wanngardi also are DFP - BADGER), this park is in demand but is very poorly maintained. The camp kitchen was a quite badly maintained and most uninviting area. The best feature of the park is its pool. Average staff friendliness, bad staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice. Poor value for money ($36 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, disabled facilities. Inadequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, shade to some sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Quiet, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade, too many permanents. Dirty UC gas bbq, dismal bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Clean pool. Suitable for few days.
Likes: Has a caravan repair workshop and facilities
Dislikes: Very restricted access. Very tightly packed in. Amenities quite disappointing. Many permanents who leave early for work. Dump point was out of order and looked like it had been so for some length of time.

A nice shady park, smallish sites that would be a problem for anyone with a larger van. Staff were very friendly - and they had the time to be as the service was rather slow. The $50 bond and contract for our dog was a bit of a shock considering there are no dog facilities here. Facilities are clean and we are lucky enough to be in a site that is close but not jammed in behind the block. The signs that invite us to mop our way out of the amenity block probably counts to this. Lawned areas to park on and reasonable lighting make for quite a reasonable park. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was much higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($33 2A per night, off-peak season). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, separate bathroom, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to most sites, hard to negotiate into site. Good laundry, kiosk, disabled facilities, secure entry. Peaceful, claustrophobic park, plenty of shade. Suitable for few days, park is considered kid-safe.
Added Touches: A couple of added touches will leave you with a smile and a kind word of thanks.

Dislikes: We asked for a quiet site but were given one on the noisy road side. There are individual dump points at each site but you need to pick the right time to empty the cassette as the neighbouring vans are very close.
Parking: Room for only one van in driveway. Best to park on the road.

Manager's name is David & Lisa Smith. What a welcoming park. Current owners are new and are doing everything to make for an enjoyable stay. On arrival our site was advised and while one of us was checking in at the office the other had been personally escorted to the site and guided expertly and 'fuss-free' on to the right spot. This made for a good start and eliminated what is usually a bit of an issue between husband and wife. We had an ensuite site and there was lawn and a concrete slab. The ensuite was clean and came with shower curtain and plenty of area for drying and dressing. As each site is vacated the area is mowed and made ready for next guest. The laundry was one of the cleanest experienced, it was vacuumed every morning and the whole place was sparkling. There was no specific children's area. Unfortunately in extreme hot weather the unshaded swimming pool was out of action. Limited BBQs in the park. No internet facilities, nor is there a public phone close by. As this is early days for new management these problems will surely be rectified in the near future. A very pleasant place to stay for a week or so. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site. Price was as expected, good value for money ($34 2A, ensuite). Good laundry, no rec room. Quiet, a few permanents. No playground.
Likes: The willingness to help with any problems, minor or major.
Dislikes: No phone or internet

A really nice park, though with the famous "children's" facilities that we older travellers do not need - nor should pay for. Though that is a complaint heard so often on our travels - maybe the parks could look at a different price range for those travellers without children Very well maintained park, very friendly staff - green lawn area to bays - we got auto upgrade to ensuite site, having booked for more than 4 nights. Paid $205.20 for 6 nights with BIG4 discount. Like a lot of places in the tropics at this time of year, some tours and attractions have closed for the Wet. Hermannsburg was very interesting, and the West MacDonnell Ranges day-trip was excellent. Good shopping centres in town, about 8 minutes drive from park.

Likes: Most sites had well cared for grass on three sides; this was obviously newly planted and was thick and lush. The sites were big and easy to get into with a good size cement slab. Staff escorted us to the site and assisted with directing us into the site. This is a very good park and we came close to giving it a 5 rating.
Dislikes: This is a popular park and many bus tours stop here; sometimes the younger people make a lot of noise in the showers and "hog" the cubicles. It is a matter of "timing" to avoid them.
Parking: It can become a bit congested parking at the front of the park, because of the security gate system. But there is plenty of room to park outside.
Added Touches: There is a free pancakes each Sunday. We enjoyed the colourful parrots and crested pigeons which abound in the park.
Local Information: We drove out to the Finke River and Palm Valley 150+km but well worth it; 4x4 essential. The drive out to all the gorges is bitumen all the way, with dirt roads going in, but easy to drive. Be prepared to walk if you want to see it all. If doing all the walks you will need at least 2 days, possibly 3. You can see a lot by picking the "cream" such as Geln Helen. Don't miss Ellery Creek Big Water Hole and take your swimming togs, it has a great little beach and is a pretty spot. The telegraph station is a must for a small entrance fee. There are several local attractions in town; go to the Information Centre to get more information.
Roads: Most roads in and around The Alice are bitumen, but be prepared to some dirt roads leading into gorges. Check out information as to whether 4x4 is required.

We had previously been told the Heritage was the only pet friendly park in Alice Springs. But we found another pet friendly park. We did not stay here and I did not inspect the amenities but I spoke to Mona the owner, and a lady caravanner staying there who had moved from the Heritage. She said it was a very basic bush park, old but clean amenities. $16.00 per night powered site, electricity extra but it comes to about 50 cents per day. Washing machine is $2.00 per wash. There are 2 toilets and 2 showers for the men, and 5 showers and 3 toilets for the women. It seems quite a few caravanners in this park are unhappy ex-Heritage clients.

8 km west from Stuart Hwy along Ilparpa Rd. Turn off the Stuart Hwy left into Ilparpa Road just after the Transport Hall of Fame as you come into Alice Springs from the south. Coming from the N go through The Gap turn right into Ilparpa Road approx 2 kms from The Gap. 15 km from Alice Springs PO. Just after Temple Bar Caravan Park. Ph: 08 8953 3738. Pets welcome on lead.

Relaxed attitude towards pets, owners dog off-leash. The park is CMCA friendly, stay 8, pay 7. However, management wasn't good, absent when we arrived despite phone call to book, very sloppy, no proper registration, no receipts even. Insist on cash a week in advance, no credit facilities (this is the 21st century isn't it ). In our third week, we had to wait for more cash to be transferred (staying longer to see more of this fantastic area, so hadn't planned for that much cash) and she got narky despite us having spoken to her hubby about it 2 hours previously. The price of $25 a night powered is a bit expensive considering poor facilities. Only 2 showers/toilets at ground level, rest are portables in a raised donga, difficult steps. Water pressure very poor to vans and facilities and fails completely at times. One lady complained that she'd had 5 cold showers in a row. Laundry is a tumbledown shed. Sites not grassed other than tent areas, yet Alice isn't that short of water. No pool, playground or other such facilities. The setting otherwise is nice, and some effort has been made with low rock walls to mark out sites and pathways. One of the few dog-friendly parks in/near Alice, though maybe we should've tried Temple Bar right next door to this park, they apparently also accept dogs.
Local Information: Lots of fabulous scenery, though don't be fooled, the walk into Standley Chasm is definitely not easy. All over rocks, and some steep bits to get over, 2 older ladies tried it on their own and had to turn back, waste of their $10 entry ($8 concession). Water a must too, it gets hot even on a coolish day, take a snack if prone to low blood sugar. The museum in cultural precinct excellent and entry gets you into that, the art gallery, Strehlow Centre & Aviation Museum (all good) as many times over 14 days as you want. Truck museum also very interesting, can get a pass out to come back, Ghan one is next to it, separate entry but not too expensive. Yet to see Desert Park, more expensive but it gets a good rap from David Attenborough! CD/download self-drive info excellent buy. Need to be fit to handle the tours, they cram a helluva lot in a day, so we chose to do it at our own pace. Gosse Bluff worth the drive to see from Tyler's Pass, and Ormiston Gorge beautiful and easy walk in (wheelchair) on sealed path, same at Ochre Pits. Telegraph Station also fascinating and there's more yet. Don't plan on being in and out of Alice in a hurry, it's a beautiful area.

Manager's name is Michael and Andrea Hewett. Don't be put off by first impressions, this is a lovely bush park that is very well kept. All sites are defined with little stone walls and all sites are raked regularly. There are a few permanent residents but they are very separate to the tourist sites. There is a portable toilet block for ladies and men, being typical portables the showers are small and there is only a communal drying area but this gets very wet if you don't close the curtain properly, there are also unisex amenities scattered around the park with separate toilets and showers. The laundry is very basic and small. The friendly owners were great and happy to show us around the park and explain the various attractions in the area or to just chat. Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($25 2A per night, powered, peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes or 5th wheelers, annex slabs to some sites, most sites are shaded, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. basic laundry, no rec room, basic camp kitchen, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Peaceful, open and roomy, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in average condition. $25 powerd site & $15 for unpowered. This is a bush park, similar to the Temple Bar Caravan Park. The Temple Bar Creek separates them & many people passing on Ilparpa Road might think they were the same park. Permanent residents are separate to tourist sites and use different amenities. There are 9 reasonable sized powered sites and 4 unpowered so booking ahead is recommended. Small, basic, clean unisex amenities and small laundry. The friendly owner/ managers, Michael and Andrea Hewett, were happy to show us around the park. Council approval has been obtained for a new amenities block and a camp kitchen is being constructed. Manager's name is Severin Family (Peter, Ashley & Lyndee). This report is an unbiased one as we went up that way for work purposes but did not stay. This is just an observation from nomads. We wouldn't stay here for several reasons. The park is an offshoot of the cabin, hotel and shop area. That part of the complex is brilliant, birds, wildlife and a very curious emu make the stop there very worthwhile. The caravan park is typical outback, a fenced area with a few electrical 'mushrooms' for power. The amenities are shared between the park and the roadhouse trade and the showers are a $3 token from the shop. There is unlimited free camping available in the same area. It is a good midway place to base yourself to visit the Ayers Rock National Park, Kings Canyon and they offer a tour of the station as well as links to a company that does a tour of Mt Connor to the south. The general feel is that everyone is welcome, the hotel offers meals, drinks and fuel at typical outback prices. Personally, for around the same cost the park at Yulara would be my pick.

This is a better than average roadhouse caravan park. There is a cafe and takeaway restaurant, dining room and tavern which has happy hour every night between 4.30 and 6.00. If you don't have time to stay at the Rock or Kings Canyon, you could do day visits from this location - but it would be a lot of driving. After the experience of the other parks on the Stuart Hwy this was an oasis. Seriously the best on our opinion along the whole road from Adelaide to Alice Springs. It's an ideal place to stop if you want to head into the Uluru Park area, but if you planning on that then definitely go in with your van as the Yulara town has quite a nice park and the $25pp to enter the park is for 3 days. We were not aware of this and only did the day trip. Friendly staff. Reasonable value for money. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Chose this park only for its convenience of location. The park was situated at the rear of the motel premises. Grassy sites with drive-throughs was welcome relief from the dry dusty sites of previous parks. As expected food and drinks at the tavern were not cheap although 'happy hour' was promoted. The motel caters for a large amount of travellers, and coach parties, mainly backpackers on their travels. Amenities were clean and pool was fenced and shady. A major problem was evident later in the afternoon when there was a terrible smell coming from the septic system I presume. It was nauseous and carried right across the park sites with the strong winds blowing. The stink was unbelievable. I approached reception about the matter but nothing was done about it. Generator noise was another problem and another addition to a very sleepless night. We had to close the windows and doors because of the smell and the noise. Because of these odours and noise I would never pay money to stay there again. Perhaps if concern was shown for the smell I would have been more understanding but it was the worst night ever. Average staff friendliness, bad staff response to complaints. Price was higher than expected, poor value for money ($28 2A per night, powered). Amenities are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, average sized sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, no sites are shaded, drive-through sites. Basic laundry. Peaceful, not enough shade.

Sealed road all the way. Owner/Managers Cameron & Carmel Chalmers were welcoming and friendly. We were escorted to the site and the park layout and facilities were explained clearly. There is now 24 hour generator power, bore water connection at every powered site and a fresh water tank central for drinking water. This park is a very spacious combination of powered and unpowered sites, mostly flat and easily accessed drive through. The amenities block is the cleanest we have ever seen. The washing machine fills slowly. If you want your own campfire pit or hot plate request when booking because campfire pits are placed central to several sites to encourage interaction. No private generators allowed. Cost above average at $30 a couple + $5 per school aged child for powered site ($22 for unpowered). The garnet fossicking day trip is well worth the $70 with all equipment provided and a guide that ensures that you know what to do and how to identify the gems. Wear old clothes as you will get dirty! On return the gems are sorted and graded by Cameron and are yours to keep. We stayed 3 nights but were wishing we were able to stay longer. Highly recommend this park for longer stay. Family friendly but if you want peace and quiet you can have this too.

Glen Helen Gorge, West Macdonnel Ranges, 132 kms west of Alice Springs on Namatjira Rd. Ph: 08 8956 7489. Pets allowed.

We are members of the Steel City Sport Fishing Club in Whyalla SA and we have travelled by caravan through most areas of South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory in the last 5 or 6 years or so. In July 2011, eight caravans (mostly recently retired people) travelled up along the Stuart Hwy stopping at Coober Pedy, Kings Creek Station, Yulara, Alice Springs and both the East and West MacDonnell Ranges. Glen Helen was the totally unexpected highlight of our trip. We stayed there for four nights and could easily have stayed longer. It is a convenient point to motor out from each day to the various tourist attractions in the West MacDonnell Ranges, without having to drive many more kilometres in and out of Alice Springs. Each day we took a cut lunch and visited the various Gorges and attractions, completing many long walking tracks and trails and climbing just about every lookout and vantage point open to the public. Places we visited included the Gosse Bluff Comet Crater, Red Banks Gorge, Ellery Big Hole, Ochre Pits, Serpentine Gorge, Ormiston Gorge and Ormiston Pound. The campground is all hard dirt on two levels and there are about 30 powered sites available. It is a basic park but quite roomy and has some shade trees and a nice lawned area for camping and tents etc. The showers and toilets are only a short walk up the hill from the couple of rows of van sites and they are usually kept quite clean. They are portable type buildings and appear to be in sufficient numbers for the size of the park. There was always hot water available and there are a couple of ensuite type cubicles which provide both showers and toilets together. Staff in the resort were very friendly and helpful and we spent several nights in the resort lounge area in front of a log fire listening to a very capable young lady singing for an hour or so. Bar prices and selection are both reasonable considering the location and unlimited free coffee, chocolate and tea is available in the lounge area for people who are staying three nights or more in the park. While there is no swimming pool or playground for kids, there is plenty of scope for exploring the area around Glen Helen itself and the Finke River which runs through at the back of the resort. They have a sheltered outside verandah dining area overlooking the river where they serve up some wicked and delicious famous Glen Helen hamburgers. Camp fires are allowed in designated sites and we spent several very enjoyable afternoons/evenings sitting around a couple of "choofers" watching the sunset play on the red, red vertical face of the 300 foot hillside at the back of the resort. It was a great place to visit just to relax, explore and simply chill out for a while.

One of the higher profile parks in the West MacDonnells. Huge flat bitumised day car park, but small sloping dirt camping area. Very few spots to back a caravan into, and too much slope. Solar hot showers provided. Untreated bore water. Water tank in day area for drinking water. Free gas barbecues and burners. Sink for campers. Rubbish bins. Campsite not quiet or private, although location is scenic. Like NT Parks campsites with showers, higher fee of $6.60 per person per night which is still very good value. Good walks, including the longer "Pound Walk". Price was as expected, good value for money. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, hot water was usually adequate but not when busy Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly unlevel sites. Noisy, open & roomy park. No playground, no pool. Suitable for few days.
Dislikes: Park caters for bus loads of day tourists with very good facilities. Camping area was second class to the day area.

Redbank Gorge Campground, Glen Helen

162 kms from Alice Springs via Namatjira Dve. 10 kms to ridge top via dirt road. Managed by NT Parks and Wildlife Service. No pets allowed.

Two camps at Redbank, with pit toilets. Free gas barbecues at lower level camp. Lower level consists of a large circle with well spaced bays for campers in a nice woodland area. Only two appeared long enough to drive through with a caravan. Not suitable for big rigs. Drive a little further up onto the ridge top where there are eight bays, some long enough to back a big caravan into. This is on the way to the Gorge. A quiet campsite with glorious views to Mt Sonder and surrounding West MacDonnell ranges. Wood fires only, picnic tables. Can be windy on the ridge top. Price was as expected, very good value for money ($3.30 per person per night honesty box camping). Peaceful, open & roomy park.
Likes: Glorious views from ridge top. Small and quiet campground.

Check-in is in the resort reception area. The campground is 100m down the road. There are numerous amenity blocks and each one has 4 washing machines & 4 driers. There is also a general store which is quite expensive, particularly for fresh produce (1 Orange = $1.50). ULP was $2.12 during our stay. No mobile or wireless signal. There is an internet kiosk in the bistro - $2.00 for 12 mins. Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Poor value for money ($42.00 2A per night, powered). Likes: National Park walks close by. Free entertainment during peak period at the hotel eating area. View of mountains and wildlife, particularly birds. Dingos present but keep your distance.
Dislikes: We were very disappointed with the housekeeping of the toilets and showers. The toilet bowls were dirty and stayed dirty for three days we were there. The soap dispensers were empty and also stayed empty. The cleaning staff appeared to be backpackers and did not display any real interest in the job. A quick "lick and splick" with a fire hose used on the floor, and that was it. For the amount of money we paid and the "build up" the resort advertises, we were disappointed. However the experience of walking the NP made up for that, and we enjoyed our 3 day stay (4 nights).
Parking: Park outside reception area as signed.
Added Touches: A couple called "The Roadies" put on a show each night we were there; quite entertaining if you entered into the spirit of things.
Local Information: We did one walk each day; you could easily do more if desired. Take the time to enjoy what you came to see. Mt Ebenezer Aboriginal Art Gallery is worth a look.
Roads: Good bitumen road into the resort from Erldundra. Be aware the Ernest Giles road is 100km of 4x4 dirt road. We went in and out on the bitumen.

Manager's name is Ian & Lyn Conway. This is a working station that has deliberately retained its bush feeling in the camp area. Escorted to allocated site, but when that unsuitable because of an injury, happy to change. Most sites are spacious with bush gardens separating. Most have shade and some even have green grass adjacent. Park must have been very crowded for one previous report to state that sites were difficult to get into, because we did not find this. Most are drive through or have space opposite for backing in. Quite expensive at $38 2A with power. Amenities reasonably clean but quite far from most sites and are basic with no benches in showers. Only one amenities block was open at the time we were there. Impossible not to get clothes wet when taking shower. A mop located in shower area would be useful for users to clean and dry area after showers. Shaded enclosed pool with narrow concrete surrounds. Water pressure and hot water good. Friendly staff and general atmosphere but profit driven. Advertised events do not happen unless adequate numbers. Helicopter pilots particularly helpful. We stayed for 4 nights & prefer the natural bush feel to the alternative resort at same price. Dog friendly and space outside the camping area for them to exercise off lead provided permission is gained first. Very suitable for families, campers, backpackers or vans.

Manager's name is Ian & Lyn Conway. This station stay was a fantastic find. The station has retained all its bush ambience and you have all the comforts of the larger van parks without the hustle and bustle. There are 7 different helicopter flights, self drive quad bike tours ranging from 1 - 2 1/2 hrs to overnight trips, Camel rides for adults and children, again at various times throughout the day. Three times a week the station has an evening show highlighting life on the station, how they got started and a display of the animals on the station and in the area followed by billy tea and delicious damper, clotted cream and honey. The washing machine is a $2 donation to the RFDS. They have a fully licensed restaurant, mini shop and fuel. We highly recommend this venue and would definitely stay again. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, van parking assistance provided by staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was higher than expected, good value for money ($36 2A per night, powered, shoulder season). Near SA/NT border, a good overnighter with power, though unpowered rest area at border very nice. An overnighter, but at $15 powered and water available, and even some attempts at grass, it's great value. The brick facilities block looked ok from outside too, we didn't use it. Plenty of room for big rigs, though careful through the gate and turning into the area. Reception at roadhouse very friendly, meals available but a bit pricy. Main downside was very expensive fuel.

This is an excellent overnight stop situated to the side of the roadhouse. About 30 powered sites which filled quickly by late afternoon. Sites are mostly dirt. Choose own site. This park is under management changes. I believe Yulara Resort has been sold. One hopes the new owners make some changes to management policies. Currently taps leak, toilets need to be manipulated to flush and check in is painfully slow and tedious. Average staff friendliness, bad staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Poor value for money ($41 2A per night). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to most sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, no permanents. Clean UC gas bbq, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool, kid-safe pool area, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families.
Likes: It was well laid out and generally well kept.
Dislikes: I found the park management a bit lacklustre. Signs reminding us that water is in short supply, that we should press the flush button repeatedly if the toilet does not flush first go etc. while every tap in the 6 or so sites around us leaked from the stem of the tap. I'd prefer that the problem was fixed rather than telling us all about it.
Parking: Parking while waiting for a site is an issue as the check in seems to be very slow and a queue seemed to be there every day with yet another notice asking us to be patient.
Local Information: the Rock and the Olgas
Roads: good road access.

Good laundry, good camp kitchen, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade, no permanents. Clean UC gas bbq, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in average condition. Clean pool. Suitable for few days, suitable for families.
Likes: The locations and park well laid out
Dislikes: School groups taking over amenities. Our site was one that had been added later and right on top of a public barbecue, fat was splattered on the side of the van.
Parking: People tell you where to park, be prepared to queue in peak times anything from 5 to 25 lots waiting to book during the day
Added Touches: Bus around resort/shopping centre
Local Information: Ayers Rock, The Olgas.

Average staff friendliness. Poor value for money ($41 2A per night, powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to some sites, shade to some sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, kiosk, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Noisy, open & roomy park, not enough shade, no permanents. Dirty electric bbq (pay), seating provided at bbq. Clean pool. Suitable for few days.
Likes: The resort supermarket was well stocked and good prices for the remote locality.
Dislikes: Expensive park for the facilities offered. Very noisy with several large school tours in campground, this also meant that the amenities blocks were extremely crowded in the mornings and evenings.

Large, well maintained park but spoilt by the large number of school groups. The amenity block close to our site was full to overflowing with teenagers at peak times and there was no point in even thinking about going to the pool. The 'shopping centre' has an IGA, post office, hairdresser, newsagency, gift shops and cafes. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($41 2A per night, powered, peak season). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to some sites, no sites are shaded, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade, no permanents. Clean UC bbq, bbq area lighting. Clean pool, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Dislikes: Too many school groups. No mops in the amenity blocks.
Local Information: Close to Uluru and approx. 40kms from The Olgas. There is a free shuttle bus which runs every 15 mins around the resort.

No dump site at park; you have to travel a couple of km to dump site. We were given a site with the slab on the wrong side; there were quite a few sites with this problem. This is the dearest park we have stayed at. It did get a little noisy early in the morning with people going to see the sun rise. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($41.00 2A per night, powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, very few annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, book swap available, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, no permanents. Clean bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Likes: The park a viewing areas looking out to Uluru & Kata Tjuta. Great for sunset of sun rise.
