2005 Family Conference
Darwin N.T. hosted the fourth gathering on the 2nd & 3rd July which 19 families attended, of these over a third were first timers. For several days prior to the gathering the families had been arriving in Darwin, settling into their accommodation and familiarising themselves with the city and its many attractions.
Like previous years, Friday evening we all gathered for an informal get to know you, where old friends from previous gatherings delighted in catching up and marvelling over the changes in the families and the first timers could be welcomed and quite often for the first, time meet another child with 4p-.
Saturday morning arrived all too early and started with the usual confusion of settling the 4p- and younger siblings into the creche and seeing the older siblings and some of the more able 4p- children on the bus for the day's activities that had been planned to keep them amused. The day passed quickly for the adults with some interesting information sessions particularly the session on epilepsy which I am sure provided new information for all of us as well as provoking quite a bit of discussion. Also the session on the P. E. C. S. communications system received a lot of attention and was made extremely interesting with the assistance of a very capable volunteer.
