Australian
Vietnamese Youth Media (AVYM) is a non-profit organization founded in
May 1995 at the Footscray Community Arts Centre in Melbourne, Australia
with the aims of providing opportunities Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese
young people to learn, share, make and express themselves through
various medium such as film, television, theatre, internet and other
creative platforms.
Aims:
To give Vietnamese-Australian youth a voice in the arts,
media and creative industry.
To provide a diversity of spaces
(both physical
and virtual) for them to express their ideas.
To provide a safe and supportive environment for
Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese artists and youth to exchange ideas
and develop new work.
To provide networking opportunities between the
professional art worlds and the community.
To create employment opportunity for
Vietnamese-Australian artists and a cross-cultural space for
non-Vietnamese to engage with Vietnamese ideas and content.
